In this video, I show you how to import audio files (WAV, MP3 and even ZIP files) from Dropbox to a GarageBand project on your iPhone or iPad.
Even better, the audio files we will be importing is a song from Joe Gilder of Home Studio Corner, who has provided stems from his song "It's Okay" for viewers to mix.

Does GarageBand only go to 105 bars in length? I’m attempting to record drums to a song from Dropbox that my guitarist wrote, and it ends abruptly at 105 bars..

So what I’m trying to do is import (?) a file shared with me -not zipped- from Dropbox to Gargageband and add my track to it. If that’s in here, you spoke so quickly and to the informed/educated/knowledgable folk that I completely missed it. Wish someone would WRITE DOWN and clear, concise set of instructions.....sigh.....

If you go into Files and copy/move those items into the “GarageBand File Transfer” folder within the “GarageBand for iOS” folder directly it’ll be faster overall than doing it 1 by 1 because they’ll all be in the list when you go to that menu under Apple Loops ;)

Why does it say I’m unable to upload a file to Dropbox?
Not sure. Try using the Dropbox app directly and uploading from there.

@pete johns this great info on importing say from a friend. But can you help with some info on exporting back, say you want to bounce a particular part back to your friend etc. Can you share some info or even make a video. It would be really helpful especially for ipad users like me. Even better if you know a way of exporting midi. Say ive written come great midi parts but i want you use samples from another DAW or i want to send them to my friend and let him choose his own midi sounds from his library. I know the midi discussion is a harder one and i know there are workarounds on mac through saving loops etc. but im new to ipad and i cant find anything like that on there. Im told that one way might have to be sending the whole project to a friend with logic and they should be able to open the project?
Hey there my friend. So, MIDI is a hard one. Expecting MIDI is not currently supported in GarageBand, though other DAWs like Cubasis and Auria support this sort of thing.
You can however export GarageBand projects and import in to GarageBand Mac or Logic which will retain the MIDI (I believe!)
Exporting audio is a much easier affair as you can just render down your song to a stereo file or individual steam and export.

Hey there. You can hit the “select” button in the top right corner and then select multiple files in the Files app or GarageBand.
Where specifically are you looking to select multiple files?
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks for your speedy response. I am referring to 7:38 bringing in the tracks into garageband and also to 7:47 when dragging the tracks younhave uploaded. Just trying to see because some of the beats I am trying to bring in are 20+ tracks. Thanks God bless
Ah, gotcha. Yes, unfortunately this is a track by track process. There is no way to bring in multiple tracks at once. This would be a handy feature but currently not possible.
