    Craig! There is a reason engine builds should not be rushed. Preferably with a "second pair of eyes" looking over each phase of the build.
    Top fuel teams do this. They can tear down and rebuild an engine, but often they complete a phase then rotate. The next guy looks over the previous work, then continues. Engine building, and engine assembling are NOT the same thing. You have your friends who support you, it doesn't take too long to have one of them check things. A fresh pair of eyes can often catch something you may have been "seeing " for an hour or two. JS

    • @BlackTownie999
      @BlackTownie999 Год назад +1

      YES!!!!100% I got ADHD and some short term memory issues and I always have to triple check my own work when I’m doing things alone, I found that things get done properly and faster if I got a 2nd pair of eyes on what I’m doing.
      Also…He noticed that the pushrods were a bit short…He needed a 2nd opinion on running on those…a voice of reason so to speak.

    • @mitchhuested6244
      @mitchhuested6244 Год назад

      @@BlackTownie999 Agreed, valve train geometry is not just for power, poor valvetrain geometry wears valve guides prematurely. If the springs are not matched to the cam, valve float causes damage to the valve stems. You can put together an engine on paper, buy all the parts, BUT pushrods should be the last purchase. Even a variation in head gasket thickness, with MLS gaskets, can throw off geometry.
      I've seen guys build big expensive engines, then play with different thicknesses to get the compression ratio they want. But that should all be done in the paper phase, before checking the length of pushrod they need.

      We watch the videos of his work, Brandon.
      Craig knows enough when a problem pops up during assembly.
      But that dosen't stop him from bulling on ahead and not fixing the problem that he encountered.
      Bad assembly habits and cutting corners, like he is doing, is a expensive and time consuming thing, as his f100 engine is proof of.
      If you are going to smoke 3-5 thousand dollars on a engine, you need to learn from your mistakes, so it dosen't happen again
      He doesn't seem to be learning anything.
      Because he is still cutting corners and hoping for the best.
      Which, I might add, generally doesn't work out.

    I feel a lot of the guys criticizing Craig for jamming the thing back together while knowing some stuff isn’t perfect, are the same type of guys that will have some sort of failure on their own vehicle and then that’s it, it sits for months or maybe even years before they make it “perfect”. I think David Freiburger said it best when he said, “Don’t get it right, get it running”. Obviously I don’t mean that Craig should leave all the problems unattended, but hell I find it weird that a lot of you guys don’t have that fuck it we ride mentality when it comes to making a deadline/event.

      Probably the f100 motor.
      How much are custom billet pistons?
      Which he has ordered, by the way.
      Just the pistons?
      $1,500? $1,600? or more for the set?
      Then connecting rods, wrist pins, rings and then let's not forget the forged-steel
      crankshaft necessary to spin the engine to his desired 8,000 rpm and hold together.
      That 8,000 rpm engine for his f100 is a expensive build.
