I agree with you on the finishing a project. I been working hard to save up over the last two years to rebuild my first truck. I’m 16 and a half and it’s near road legal. Just need headlight wiring repair a mirror ac lines and driver window repair. And little odds and ends. Pretty good for having to replace the entire body on my first truck. And I’m still in it for under $3000 the 1993 Ford F-150 is the best it has been in years.
I think your issue was too high of air pressure, a lot of that paint was flying away. Also get a little closer to the car looks like you were 12 to 14 inches from the panel.
I lowered the pressure on the clear and it definitely laid better I noticed.
A good compressor goes a long way in a good spray job. One that makes 7cfm @ 40psi is the bare minimum. Overall it's a good 20 footer. You'll get better if you keep at it
This video made it clear that Craig operates just like I do. Constantly beating myself up about things not being perfect, but as long as they're better than they were, it's still a win. I'm the exact same way about my 87 V8 Ranger that I've been working on for years now. Keep up the good work Craig.
Thank you man.
Marked improvement overall. Don't beat yourself up too much on running short on paint - all of us who do this stuff have had our moments where we come up short on materials or other stuff. Car looks great.
Good afternoon Craig good to see the truck
Where this 5.0 started when you picked it up vs where you got it at is A Sh_t Load of an Improvement. I think it is an awesome daily driver. It looks and sounds amazing 👍🏻💪🏼💯😁
Thanks!
Baby steps to perfection. Learning with each step. Thanks for sharing the details even if you feel it isn't your best work. It's harder to be RUclipsr than most people know. I feel your pain.
You mentioned some people not finishing projects, I think the key is to start off with a few smaller projects, finish them, then eventually move on to bigger projects. Gotta have a few wins and gain some confidence! I too have seen some people just rip into a car, disassemble it with good intentions, then never finish it. Good for the next guy who buys it!
If it looks better then it's not too bad. Body and paint takes time to master . If you don't want to mess with primer grab a qaurt of sealer, spray it then your paint sprays over it no sanding it will help avoid alot of problems. It's not bad for your conditions I've fixed worse for people. Keep up the good work.
That mustang looks so good. And that Cleetus McFarland approved hood latches are awesome lol.
They work awesome. Thank you!
Great job! Your car looks so good. Perfect stance and wheel/tire fitment . Nice!
Nice work and a huge improvement! And I'm glad you're helping motivate people to get their projects done, but time really is a limited commodity sometimes, especially as life gets more complex and complicated with the demands of work (especially if you run your own business), maintaining relationships, having kids (if you do), and looking after aging parents. That's why you've really really gotta respect the folks that finish a project that's been going on for 15+ years... they've persevered and kept the faith. Just don't take for granted having the freedom and time that being young and unencumbered provides.
I turned 16 in 1987. I've always had at least one fox body in the stable since. Never perfection... These are the ultimate working man's car and you can make it what you want it to be. Have owned my 89 LX vert (5.0 T5) since '94, Got my son a '90 2.3 we converted to a 5 speed turbo coupe motor. We enjoy looking at the imperfect cars mostly and conversation at shows/at the track. Your work marathon's are a fine inspiration. Carry on bro' !
The OGs know who that is on the air freshener but it looks damn good bro just cut and buff it
Excellent work for what you were working with young man! I have a 77 Buick Skylark that i've been daily driving the past 15 years I'm getting ready to repaint it. I'm using the Duplicolor ready to spray paint though, I've used it on panels before and it works pretty well but this is the first time I'm laying down a complete paint job with it. I'm going going from white to a medium silver that i'm going to mix up myself because all they have is bright silver so I'm just going to throw 3 quarts of silver and a half quart of black in a empty gallon can and use it, it is what it is at that point, it's a daily driver i'm not doing a show quality paint job. I'm hoping less than $250 all in for the paint job. My interior is that medium dark red and it's in excellent shape so I gotta go with a color that matches that so my choices are basically White, Black and Silver so Silver it is.
So what we need now is a good ole video with a in depth go around on the next steps with your vehicles and what the endpoint for each are and what you want out of them. Love the content and the commentary keep goin bro!
Always good to see dad lending a hand... back, knees and blood pressure lol
You are Fantastic! Self taught, not afraid and consistently ending up in the front. Impressive and Inspiring. Thanks for sharing these adventures and congratulations on Nailing your Finals and these rides.
The fox looks good. The fender with sanding marks gives it some character. Can't wait to see the F100 back together with the new motor. Great content and keep up the good work.
Don't kick yourself, you did a fantastic job for an open air paint job. We have always called that a ten foot paint job. It looks flawless ten feet away. 👍👍 Great job, mixing cups and strainers are your best friend when spraying.
Great video Craig, love the attitude. I’ve learned so much just trying to figure stuff out myself and just doing it. You’ll only get better. Great chatting with you at Heatshield.
Dude that car turned out great be proud of it looks really good keep on keeping on my friend you can do anything you put your mind to
I think a lot of us are perfectionist and that's not a bad thing. Like you said- we learn by doing. Don't be afraid to learn. The car turned out great considering the time table & kamikaze bugs. Much better than the heater vibe it had. Thanks for sharing
Craig, your Fzbody looks awesome! I love every bit of it! Can’t wait for the Galaxy to be done, or even the Town Car! Keep rocking
100% agree with you on the projects part haha I followed you because you straight piped the f100 in highschool. Right after that I bought a 1972 gmc and it's been one hell of a ride 5 years of blood sweat and tears. Right now I got a blown sbc in it and slowly build a 355. 400 to 450 horse.
I appreciate your videos! It’s a relief to have this content.
Great job! Love your motivation. Keep at it, you will continue to improve. 👏
Definitely nice seeing it all looking great again. Great job!!!
Awesome job Craig… hats off to you
Damn dude, I’m impressed with the outcome!
As a student at uti, I've got finals every 3 weeks, so I feel you. I also bedlined Montero in a parking lot so I feel that too
It turned out good. For doing the paint job outside, it looks great. The Kelly Kapowski freshener ....NICE !!!
And as I mentioned please make sure you got people to help spot where the car goes and help push and stop the vehicle. Above all watch yourself and your fingers that you don’t get hurt while doing the push by wheel/tire method. It is a good way to use in tight small areas if you don’t have those wheel dollies to put under the vehicle to move in small places.
You did an amazing job Craig don't beat yourself up..it looks way way better then it used to..a little cut and polish it will look amazing
Great work, I love the videos. You are inspiring me to work on my mustang.
Great job, my pops used to call those a 50-50 paint job. Looks good at 50 feet moving 50mph moving away from you. Actually looks good Craig!
Great job!!!! I still wish you’d do the galaxy like that, but I do understand your concerns.
Just looking at the thumbnail alone, that Mustang looks 1000% better. Awesome job Craig
Heck yeah! Looks great man!
Great job!!! Looks Great !!!
Great job! Enjoyed the video!
Looks good. Almost enough to get me liking fox bodies. The interior turned out great
Man Bravo, I got a 86 gt pretty rusty, 260k on the 5.0 still screams, no ticks, knocks, rebuilt AOD 3rd tranny bought it in 92 5k on it, want to do mine lol! I was very impressed with your work, confidence and determination Bravo!!
If you want a tip on pushing cars in small areas that are hard to push. It’s very easy to roll the car by putting hands on the tires and rolling the tire, the vehicle will then move. But do this on level ground with people around the car to help you spot the car where to go and stop car when needed. Obliviously have someone inside car to steer and bake if you can have extra help. Don’t do the roll wheel/tire push on your own with no one around to help spot where the car goes.
And please do this only in small level areas with people around to help spot where the car goes, help push and stop the vehicle
Looks good... congrats love the Mustang and f100
Looking great man I know it wasn't easy I need to get mine prepped for paint
Progress doesn't require perfection. Looks fantastic from here....!
Looks great dude. Always motivating to watch your videos. Couple beers, I'm ready to go.
Makes me want to paint my Foxbody. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great job buddy!!!
Good to see a young person motivated
Love the content man, I’m in college too and I don’t understand how you do everything you do
Just wrapped up one of my NewEdge builds it’s definitely a good feeling
Nice work man!. I'm on a budget and considering to paint at home with one of those inflatable paint booth. Nice to see those successful folks like you are out there :)
Gotta say, you gave me some anxiety between min 7:35 and 7:53. Specially at 7:51, that was close lol
Big rig lays great too on paint. I use it for subframe and Tunnel.
I shaved the antenna hole as well…looks a lot better. Fox Looks good. Black is the best👍
Looks great, nice job
First video I've seen from this channel & I approve the introductory clips at the beginning 🤣
Kicking ass and taking names proud of you.
Buddy I really like the way the stang turned out looks great
Laying down paint takes practice plus gun settings, tip size etc. also matter but I digress overall result looks great
Audience,I know you got over the paint job by now, but it was a beater bomb at first. I think you brought it back from hell. Great Job and Kudos on the repaint, if you still decide✌🏼.
Looks really good. A shot of black on those rear quarter window trim and you’ll be set.
Great job Mr. Craig!
No biggie to give it another quick sand and try again. The clear is a good base to respray another base coat on. Good job man it looks a million times better.
Oh Craig we worship you!
Big transformation 💪💪💪
Every thing you said about the effort and working on your project is absolutely true. But keep in mind after you are still doing this stuff in your mid 40’s whatever you think will take a day will take two and then another to recover lol. Just spending a 10 hour day cutting and buffing my challenger perfect just about killed me last time.
That’s why I want to build as many cars as I can while I’m young haha
Try some of that vht on the quarter window moldings just a thought
You could've hung tarps from your gazebo thing, make an impromptu paint booth.
Also helps keep overspray down, so you don't tint the side of your parents house haha.
You did a great job man! It looks great! Hey If I could I would hire you to do my body work and paint
Looks great!
looks awesome for a 11:30pm job. congrats
For what you have to work with it looks good.
Your car is miles different from the last butcher owner. You have saved another beautiful fox body. All I have is a 67 coupe with a real hi-po 289/4 speed/posi etc. It has 36000 original miles.
This young man is no lazy azz, he's highly driven with a disciplined intellect. Thanx 4 letting us follow the journey Craig.
I appreciate that.
Looks decent all things considered HUGE improvement!
If it looks good from 4 meters away and you plan to repaint it, I'd call it a win. Lessons learned in the trial run, ready for a quality spray layer. Just use high fill primer next time, it helps.
I got 9 stitches about 8 years ago doing pretty much the same thing as you were (when you found the 1/8" of cracked filler), except the knife blade buried into the soft fleshy part between my thumb and 1st finger. I still don't have full range of movement.
She looks awesome…good job sir
Looks good for an outside spray!
This is super cool build get your hands on some black epoxy sealer next time over reduce it then shoot your base.. it will help coverage and use less base color.. good luck
Very nice. Be proud 👏
Primer is your friend. Bury it in primer. No sanding marks. It looks good for outside open air paint job. The car has come a long way. Nice fox body
wow, lools like and and day, great job, your an inspiration to all, you should be proud
Those dad shoes have all the grip! Time to upgrade Craig!😂
compared to before and at that cost its great, now the GALAXY!!!
Good day brother. Your a good dude man. Cool channel keep up the great work brother 👍
11:00 lol.
Cheeky dad wave + self high five.
U have really helped me with my projects how is the f100
every time I watch your videos it makes me really want to work on my cars and then i look at the time and im like darn its 9 lol
I think it turned out pretty damn good for it to be outside 👍👍
Just found your channel. Super cool guy great content. New sub👍
Good work brotha
Not bad for doing it outside!
Great job 👏
I spray at 32/35 psi. At the end of the day it looks good from the drivers seat. No more red
That’s the best type of paint job. Just nice enough that you want to keep the car clean. It looks good when it is clean. 20 feet away or driving down the road it looks great. But it’s not the super expensive paint job that your super pissed if it gets damaged. I thought you did a great job.
For a do it yourself it looks good. Like the stance what size rear tire are you using
I think it turned out pretty good! 😉
