    Very clear and doable set of progressions. I always like when coaches mention the speed of the serve and show the same serve in regular and slow motion. For me, it is like a kind of barometer against which I can compare how I am progressing when reviewing my own videos. Thanks!. BTW, how did you measured the speed of that serve?

    Hi Ramon. I've found your videos very useful and easy to follow. I have a small query about this one which I was wondering if you could help me with. In the drill that you do at the net with a shortened grip the focus seems to be on hitting across the ball - from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock for rightys. However in the "skimming the stones" drill, if I'm picking this up right, it seems that you are hitting the underneath of the ball. Is the correct contact with the ball for an effective slice serve a bit of combination of both i.e. hitting across the ball but also trying to skim the racquet underneath the ball on order to keep it low over the net?

    • @winningtennis4914
      @winningtennis4914  2 года назад

      Hey Binkler! As you go from "skipping the stones" to a full service motion... the motion will naturally move from hitting "under and across" to "up and across"... the main thing is to just get comfortable creating spin. And then toss it up to 1 pm and let it rip!

    Great stuff Ramon! As a righty how do I get it to break on the ad side? If I’m serving up the tee? I’m staying sideways but I can’t get it to break. More I’ve cream scoop at the end??

      @@winningtennis4914 thanks Ramon. Many years ago I had a good slice serve. I see many players using it a lot on the deuce side with opponent pulled wide. Makes a lot of sense.

  • @LubaLuba1
    @LubaLuba1 2 года назад

    Roman can you explain what so many talk about like yourself about how the spin creates the ball to go off on the deuce side because if your slicing let’s 7 to 1 or 8-2 that going to take the ball to the right. Or are you suggesting regardless of the spin the direction will bounce the ball out to the side?

    • @winningtennis4914
      @winningtennis4914  2 года назад

      Hey Luba! Not sure I totally understand your question. If you're a righty, and you hit a slice serve (7 to 1)... the ball WILL move right to left from your perspective (or left to right from the returner's perspective!)

    • @LubaLuba1
      @LubaLuba1 2 года назад

      @@winningtennis4914 I know you toss the ball far to your right side to show us the slice but you can toss it up like a flat serve and still hit a slice too. So when you do this the ball show end up from the court and bounce outward especially when you hit into Ad side correct.

    do u pronate on slice serve?

  • @at1838
    @at1838 3 года назад +2

    I love your videos Ramon, but I have an issue with this one,. As far as I know, every pro PRONATES even on slice serves. It seems to me this is slice for beginners, not slice for players with a bit more experience. Eliminating the internal shoulder rotation, robs you of a huge amount of power. One can hit a slice almost as fast as a flat serve using the right technique.

    • @winningtennis4914
      @winningtennis4914  3 года назад +1

      A T, you are spot on. And the pronation happens naturally. Later than on a flat serve. I should have mentioned this in the video... especially after I mention not pronating on ground

    • @miguelbarahona6636

      Of course Ramon is pronating. If you use continental grip, and you don't pronate the forearm, you'll hit the ball with the frame.

    • @winningtennis4914

    • @henrymug
      @henrymug 4 месяца назад

  • @svarodzic
    @svarodzic Год назад +1

    It's all good the only problem is that's not how the slice is served! :))))) You should pronate on all serives. Period. That is a carved-in-stone fact!
