    You need to lubricate your lead screws. The squealing noise it made when you first moved it is from lack of lubrication. You also need to keep the guide rails clean and lubricated as well. Good build, it is amazing to see a CNC router with the structural parts all made from wood.

    • @caseyfinn4682
      @caseyfinn4682 4 года назад

      What would you suggest to use for lubricant?

    • @wjohnsaunders
      @wjohnsaunders 4 года назад +1

      @@caseyfinn4682 I use a PTFE synthetic grease (SuperLube), however people also use light mineral oil. There is also spray on dry PTFE lubricant that people recommend in dusty environments, but I haven't tried that.

    Excellent, thank you.
    Love the format, just the right amount of essential information, like lead screws and linear rails. It’s the little things that help, never thought you could put a lead screw through a ball bearing like that.
    Will be building mine shortly but I can see a few things I might upgrade: not convinced about the router clamp being held on just with glue and I might 3D print the bearing housings rather than use wood. Trivial little upgrades really.
    Thank you again for putting in the effort to make these videos.❤

    They make “compression” router bits for plywood. They have the spiral flutes heading towards a point in the middle of the bit (from both the top and bottom) so that the cutting forces don’t produce tear-out of the top layer.

    An amazing thing is that almost all machinery beside basic tools is self-made.
    The video looks great. Some important measurements were left behind the scene. However, people, who is able to make similar stuff, can recover the logic and, in addition, learn a lot of tricks. I have just got all mechanical parts and going to rebuild my first version of CNC which was made of furniture rulers. Thanks a lot for this video!

    First off i want to say that you built an excellent CNC machine! I am building one based on your design and i was wondering whether you have any problems with the z-axis stiffness (is there any play) because of the use of only a metal rod instead of the guide rails you are using for the x- and y-axis. Keep up the great content!

    I love how u set up this build bro. Can I ask a ccouple questions if u have the time??
    Q.1 - I am about to start building my own home made CNC ROUTER and when it comes to the electronics side of the build I'm struggling. Is there a website where I can go to gain valuable knowledge about how to, from step 1 to the end of the build?
    I bought a kit with 4 X Nema 23's, 4 X Stepper Drivers - TB6600's, all the wiring and connectors plus a CNC Shield which I don't understand at all, and 4 Limit Switches ..
    I have 2 X Nema 17's and I have the pulleys and belts which I'm going to use for now.
    My issue is finding some valuable information on how to build the whole electronics to run this machine. I bought a Genmitsu GS-775 Spindle motor and I also got 2 different power supply's. I have an original Arduino board but I also bought a few from China which are very similar in how they work but I'm not so sure about those. I really am struggling with the electronics bro. Do u know of anybody online who could help me with some advice or help in setting the electronics up to get my CNC running smoothly?
    Sorry for the very long comment, and I also apologise for the questions.
    I'm a newbie to the electronics world even though I began a job in this field 4 months ago. I'm learning but I really want to make an attempt at building this CNC ROUTER over the Xmas holidays..
    I know I'm being very ambitious especially considering I knew absolutely nothing about this field only a few months ago.
    I'm kitting out a woodworking workshop and I really want to build my own CNC ROUTER machine to have as part of the overall shop experience.
    It's something I've become very passionate about in the past few months and I'm going to be attending college courses to learn as much as I can moving forward.
    I am signed up for a course in Electronics(Basic), and also a Soldering course to get me up to speed so I can do a lot more in my job..
    If u can offer any help or advice I'd be ever so grateful my friend.. I loved watching both parts of this video btw and keep up the brilliant work man.. Salute to u Sir from IRE..

    Looks like there may also a few bearings that aren't listed on the build list at the ends of the lead screws?
    Nice design and a great way to show how you could build one and customize it to your needs.
    I'll consider building my own, but I'm torn as I can also get an mpcnc primo kit including having them 3D print all the plastic bits as I don't have a 3D printer for nearly the same $.
    Thanks for sharing your design!
