I’ve tried in the past multiple times to make her work (before the support) but it was terrible so I’m really happy that she’s playable now and becomes really good in the following sets! you’re right that shifter is the strongest handtrap against fire kings but the problem is that in order for your shifter to be good against fire kings, your engine has to play good under shifter. The Yubel combo works under shifter bud sadly isn’t enough to overpower the fire decks on its own. Especially when the chance is high that they have ash or Imperm. The good thing about Yubel ist that once you get your full combo through, it’s actually quite good against fire kings. (Including the unchained stuff) Yeah this was my first video ever recorded and it feels a bit weird to talk to the camera but it’s kinda fun and I have more planned! i have practiced with the deck alot online, and won 9 out of 10 games at my locals last time. Seeing replays of irl players, people are playing so badly with this deck. I totally agree with you, especially that YCS set 😅Cant wait for the field spell and grave squirmer, and ESPECIALLY phantom...

I also have been play testing this deck like crazy and seeing most yubel videos. I do agree that most people aren't playing the deck correctly. the bigger content creators only show the bare minimum lotus combo and call it a day when that's literally the worst combo ever to end on. so it's understandable why most people don't respect the deck when that's the combo the bigger creators are showing. I do think shifter is good in the deck. there have been a few duels where i've let my opponent hand trap me twice then I dropped shifter to buy me an extra turn since they couldn't threaten game or build up good interruptions. at that point it's not about how well the deck can play under shifter. people need to shift the mind set that's it about SURVIVING UNTIL YOUR NEXT TURN. you force them to pass and use resources on trying to stop your combo so they can't stop your push next turn for game. (which most people don't know Yubel can actually put enough damage on the board for game through a few combo lines in an open field) I've mostly focused on pure yubel with a small unchained engine so I can actually fit hand traps/going 2nd cards to weaken the fire king endboard and prevent them from going full combo since the yubel deck has like 2 or 3 pushes through interruptions. playing the bigger Unchained package of Prison, and Aruha leaves almost no room for non engine and that doesn't play that well into the Snake-eye endboard.
my locals have started to side specific Hate for my deck since they realized if I full combo them, they don't win. being able to set up the unchained enboard with D Lotus, OG Yubel with a searched Super poly is hard for most decks to push through without board breakers.

Yubel is really underrated and most of the big content creators really only show the bare minimum because they don’t know themselves better and want to just jump onto the Yubel hype. I’ve made extremely different experiences with shifter. Most of the time it hurt myself more or to a point where I couldn’t play through one interruption. It shuts down one of the best extenders/enablers in your deck, which is dark beckoning beast + spirit gate. (Spirit gates on its own outs a 4 mat apollousa btw, I always find that fact funny 🤣) The only engine in your deck that fully functions under shifter is the Yubel engine. The Yubel engine dies to 1 handtrap. So even if you skip your opponents turn, you have to have a good hand + your opponent to not handtrap/interrupt you at all for you to pop off. Look at the YCS where the opponent just skipped his turn after getting shiftered and the Yubel player still couldn’t do much through handtraps. The shifter was basically useless. shifter CAN be good in certain scenarios because it’s just a broken handtrap but as a baseline, if you play 10 matches against fire kings, it won’t help much. It just has inherent anti-synergies with parts of the Yubel engine and cards that are good in it. After more testing (even after this video) I still do think that shifter isn’t the optimal way to play Yubel currently
Great video. I disagree on shifter though. It stops too much defensively and helps you get ahead. Skipping turns is too strong Vs good players Imo 🤷🏾♂️
PHANTOM OF YUBEL MAKES THE DECK SOOOO CRACKED!!!!! I agree with Shifter hurting the Unchained component of the deck and makes it "competitive" against Snake Eyes, but ya gotta DRAW it and it isnt useful once you get cards in GY. I like the deck better with handtraps after Legacy (before Phantom of Yubel)
I agree! i do think, if you play shifter, its actually okay to play handtraps before LEDE even if you cant compete with the ratios since shifter is way more worth than one imperm! i do think there is a world where shifter is good now, but its definitely not with tour guide (what many people do) and yes phantom of yubel is insane!

@@TrinityYGO yea, even with branded you can play links and stuff, it would just be a little more tight lipped about when you play B.F. but if you set up correctly you can end on a I:p, nightmare pain, spirit of yubel, a set eternal favorite, and a set branded in red with aluber or albaz in grave

The Yubel combo works under shifter bud sadly isn’t enough to overpower the fire decks on its own. Especially when the chance is high that they have ash or Imperm.
