As for my favorites among the new cards, I definitely think that Yubel's new fusion is absolutely peak design. I love that the card mixes elements from Yubel's own advanced forms while also being a gigantic shout out to Flame Wingman.
Eyo good thinking there! My first impressions of Giest was simply “ the opponent will likely just tribute it for link plays.” Handing them a monster a la Lava golem, didn’t seem too useful without the good ol’ battle mania. Until I saw nightmare pain’s effect.
I've gotten a lot of appreciation for the Yubel cards over time, and amusingly Neos Kluger has gotten me a handful of wins I probably shouldn't have normally, I used Neos Fusion to summon Kluger, used Favorite Hero to get Neo Space onto the field, jumping Kluger's attack up to 6000 punch over whatever my opponent had on the field, and, if the opponent was in attack position, send Favorite Hero to the GY and punch in directly for game.
A bit early in the vid but please note that Terror Incarnate doesn’t just summon Ultimate Nightmare on destruction. Instead this triggers when it LEAVES THE FIELD. Bounced, banished, sent to grave, destroyed, shuffled? Doesn’t matter, you still get your upgrade.
Found a blooper: Terror Incarnate summons when it LEAVES the field, not when destroyed, a very important distinction as terror doesn't care how it leaves, only that it does. Banish it? Ultimate Nightmare. Banish it face-down? Ultimate Nightmare. Bounce it? Ultimate Nightmare. And so on.
Slight correction on Terror Incarnate: It's condition to summon Ultimate Nightmare is *leave* the field, not destroy. Meaning you can link it off, an funnily enough, tribute it for Yubel's subscription or fuse it away for DELW from the field to get Ultimate Nightmare out.
Can we stop to appreciate that "Das Ewig Liebe Wachter" translates to "The Eternal Love Guardian"? That just seems really nice for Yubel, considering how his/her life and afterlife had gone before being accepted by Jaden
"Unless your win condition is "My opponent can't read" turbo". I'm a Mikanko player. I'd tell you how many of my opponents either don't read my cards, or think that somehow "X" effect will negate it, but given the number honestly depresses me I'd rather not.
As a certified Yubel Enjoyer™, I was so fucking happy when I saw that the Yubel archetype was finally getting some proper support in the game, especially since they're mostly comprised of retrains of the cards they used in the anime with effects that are actually closer to their original anime counterparts, as well as cards that are nods to moments from Yubel's arc in GX Season 3. Like, I love how the Samsara Lotus retrain has the Devil Arm that the likes of Viper and Marcel had to signify their alliance with/servitude to Yubel, and how Spirit Of Yubel is overlooking the castle of the unnamed kingdom where the Supreme King originally lived during his and Yubel's lives. Not to mention how Das Ewig Liebe Wachter looks so much like Flame Wingman because (at least, this is how I've headcanoned it) it's Yubel altering their appearance to resemble Flame Wingman, knowing that it's one of Jaden Yuki's favorite cards? Like, fuck, my HEART, dude 😭 You did such a fantastic job on this overview, dude! I'm absolutely looking to make some really silly things work with this Yubel support, so the basic combo lines and other combo ideas were really helpful 😁
I am really looking forward now to the German Names, as "Yubel-Das Ewig Liebe Wächter" is german, butchered german but still, and finding out what we get here for a Name that seems to translate to "The eternally loving Guardian" is going to be interessting
This video made me smile so much! Yubel has been my favorite card-and character from yugioh since childhood!! I experimented with using it in Fire King decks. While Fire King is certainly one of my favorite gimmick archetypes, due to the fact that they gain advantage off the many effect destructions in the game. Fire King can’t search Yubel, and needs either Fire King Island or Yaksha in order to pop Yubel from your hand. It is so wonderful to see more support for our beloved Guardian of gentle darkness! I want it in the OCG soon
Shout-Outs to Duel Links, for giving us a Skill, Eternal Bond, that makes it possible to Play Yubel and Elemental HERO Neos in the same deck, and Yubel isn't just a Garnet, you can actually use it to its full potential, and get Ultimate Nightmare in Turn 1
Nightmare Pain's 3rd effect confused me until I realized it basically means it gives your base Yubel the Terror Incarnate effect to damage your opponent when you attack as well
I guess they assumed it'd be too powerful at the time? I mean a 3k beater that's immune to effect destruction and does burn damage even when attacked by a stronger monster would be a pretty strong boss monster back then.
if you wanna run the OG yubel trio, unchained's self-destruction effects are a decent way to climb the yubel forms (and they can all play under fiend-lock)

My absolute favorite achetype, even though they're not the best, i always had fun dueling with my Yubel deck, and if you could see my face when they announced that the archetype would get new support, i was the happiest man in the world! Can't wait for the global release of the new cards!

I’m interested in that 2 counter cost on mature chronicles. Add any of your banish cards to your hand. You could use it basically as a searcher if you’re smart about it. (One example I’m thinking ,correct me if I’m wrong., use cross designated banish a hand trap your opponent plays. Then bring your banish copy to your hand with mature chronicles and now you have it your hand to spring on your opponent on their turn.

I grew up in the Yugioh GX times, so Yubel has a special place in my heart. I will try to play them in my favorite Deck, DDD. Since they are a fiend the fusion contracts work on them.

I think it's cute that Yubel mimicks Jaden's favorite Hero. It's like your girlfriend putting on that outfit you REALLY like.
I also like that the Eternal Favorite trap can be searched by that one Flame Wingman retrain.
My favorite part is the name. "Yubel - The Eternal Love Guardian"
Flame Wingman was foreshadowing Jaden and Yubel, basically thats what that card is lowkey referencing way before Yubel came out.
One other nice thing about Geist Grinder Golem? Handing your opponent a monster turn 1 also shuts off Imperm and Evenly Matched.

Being detached as XYZ material would also won't count as "leaving the field" as well. Like if TI got absorbed by 101 for example.

So glad Yubel is able to use Super Ploy to its fullest. Imagine 6000 direct damage because they use all monster on the field. Pretty awesome.
