Thanks for teaching me my first flashy jumpkick guys! 🙏 Hollywood here I come!! 😎
The title of your movie should be "Jesse's Revenge, Check it out!"
@@blockmasterscott And what is the plot?
@@KARATEbyJesse Jesse decides to take revenge on all the crazy American martial artists that have made him shake his head in wonder throughout the years, and he always leaves a card with them that says "Check it out".
Sorry, that was the best I could come up with lol.
@@blockmasterscott Someone took Jesse's girl and now he wants her back and will stop at nothing to achieve that goal. Jesse Enkamp is Jesse and he's out to kick some arse and take some names against the aliens who asked "where can I find a woman like that, like Jesse's girl?" Coming to theatres this summer. The high flying, high adrenaline, karate action movie of the year! (I had the song stuck in my head.)
I knew you could do it...you're the best around...nothing will ever keep you down.
I love how Mike always acts like an excited little kid when he's in someone else's videos..
.. then you go to his channel and see he's an absolute boss.
idk he acts like an excited kid on his own channel too.
@@gmkgoat
Sparsely.
Very sparsely.
I wanna be like him! I'm too far from it, but I want to!
It brings such a good dynamic to everyone’s videos 👌🏽
The dynamic between you 3 is priceless. You guys should have your own reality show!
“Mike… we know” hahahahaha wow!!
they basically already do. but likewise, i wish it wouldn't end. jesse has to go home sometime :(
Jesse is an adult trying to wrangle in two children, but Sensei Seth is like a giraffe and Icy Mike is in his studio with all his toys he wants to show off.
Watching a bunch of grown men try to kick each other off of a rocking horse is the serotonin I needed today
I guess you could say they were
Horsing around
@@Footrotflats251 well done
Lol my lil pony flying kick edition 🤣
@@Footrotflats251 calling the fbi
I was confused at first, thinking "of course flying kicks are karate, I learned so many jumping, spinning, flying techniques at the karate school I went to" but then I remembered. The school I went to as a kid only said Karate on the door, it was actually a TKD school.
Oh no 😂😂
Ffs
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol similar story, i went to a Yoseikan Budo school as a kid (it's a cool martial art btw) , and on the door it says Kung fu. 😂😂
@@rabbitshady499 well may not be a bad thing, a place advertising 'kung fu" doesn't really say what it is so you have to find out more. Unless I'm totally off on that?
Jesse's patience is on a saint level sometimes. Seriously, I need a medal of his face at the end of a necklace that I can clutch and offer a prayer to when I'm renewing my drivers license or something.
just say a prayer. " God please give me patience because if you give me strenght I will kill someone" should do it.
Or pray to Saint Jesse, it should work as well... 😏
Waiting in line at a government office is probably where the spinning kick was invented... in Okina.w... The birth place of Kara Te!
@@aronnemcsik Dude! Hahaha...!
Seriously, it dawns on him he's the only adult in the room XD
2:11 Seth’s little yell as he falls is gold!
I was scared bro
@@SenseiSeth I would crap my pants if I was on a horse and an Icy Mike comes flying towards me
I love that whenever they do these videos icy mike is basically just running around like a little kid kicking people and stuff
😊😊😊😊
Hearing "The first priority in martial arts is to have fun" from Mike was so pleasing. This guy is open minded
I thought the 1st priority was to beat up little children and the 2nd priority was to have fun while beating up little children. This also explains Anakin Skywalker.
@@user-wg6fe5uj8r I mean... I don't get the joke but I like the sound of it! 👍️👍️
@@theodorealenas3171 it was just the way my brain heard the conversation the first time through. Also Anakin murdered a bunch of little kids.
My opinion: spinning/jumping techniques can be a sign of mastery/dominance in a fight. Either you’re so good you can set up and pull of something flashy - which is awesome…or you CANT set it up and you make a failed/obvious attempt.
Tl;dr if you’re a good enough fighter, you can do pretty much any technique you want and it will work.
Yeah I think this lost on the overly practical practitioners. It’s all theoretical, it’s a science. Taking the time and dedication to learn something difficult that may not have a high usage rate will give you something that no one else has, and in of itself will train you to pull of easier techniques more efficiently. It doesn’t hurt to have, as well as adding a variable that is possible set up. A tornado kick has a very limited niche implement, that someone shouldn’t throw without caution but because it’s seldom used in fighting makes it very much an unknown factor. In short I agree, the best martial artists make the impractical practical.
Yup as far as I'm concerned the highest level of martial arts is mastery over one's body once you reach that you can do pretty much whatever you want and it will be usable on some level. Look how quickly he learned that jumping spinning kick
This makes sense. We see it a lot in combat sports. In some fights one fighter is so dominate and comfortable they just start doing wacky flashy shit because they can. It's not practical but it demonstrates just how mucy better they are compared to their competition. Of course they can be humbled real quick if that gap is not as wide as they think.
So I am less versed in unarmed martial arts, but the armed martial arts I have been studying almost all talk about spins and the like in very specific contexts. I.e. to break the bind when your opponent relies on feeling through it. Or as incidental to an entirely separate motion usually used to close distance. There is one weapon that almost entirely works on the idea of spinning and that is what most people pull in their heads when they think ‘long sword’. A big sword as tall as the person wielding it. But this is a highly specialized weapon that was largely used in body guard roles as you can deny access to a very large area while keeping someone close to you safe. Or hold an alley effectively as one person.
@@0Bonaparte A lot of things that don't make sense or look impractical in styles like Aikido or Tai Chi, start to make sense once a weapon is involved. Most teachers say that you practice weapons to help your empty hand improve, but the truth is you practice empty hand to improve your weapons.
I'm highly impressed by Icy Mike's restraint in this episode in not making the obvious "that's what she said" joke when Seth says "you're going to have to put it between my legs." HAHA. Great video as always, guys.
Loved the 'MMA Fanboy' part that was hilarious! Also get on the damn horse Seth!!!
at 4:20 we can see two martial art theorists theorising over battle techniques whilst an innate master in the background skips this clearly beta process and seeks the true power taught by the school of self-awareness. God bless you, Fabia.
bring this man to the top comments
I love that you guys and Wonderboy are all doing videos together. Literally my favourite channels!
Mike turns into such a hyperactive kid when hes in other peoples videos lol
Damn it Seth get on your high horse. Icy Mike has got to knock you back down to reality :D
Even as a kid, I always thought the "knocking opponents off a horse" explanation was weird and unrealistic. But, I think there is a practical function to flying kicks, one which historical practitioners on Okinawa might also have found occasion to take advantage of.
Self defense isn't always about *self* defense. Sometimes it's about protecting other people. Maybe you see some people picking a fight with your best friend, your partner or a family member, or trying to rob someone or something of that nature, and you think you ought to get involved. So, you charge into the fight as fast as you can. You want to arrive in the fray, not run right through it, so you have to actually come to a stop. And you have at least one opponent who's not giving you all their attention, because they're already dealing with someone else. So, you can kill two birds with one stone by transferring all that extra momentum into your opponent, ideally knocking them out of the action in one swoop. It's like a running tackle, except it leaves you on your feet to deal with other opponents.
Flying kicks are great if you're trying to run away from a group of attackers and one of them cuts you off in front... Then a flying kick is absolutely necessary to prevent yourself from losing a lot of momentum as you're trying to escape
Bakc in the nineties I saw Korean rioters beat the shit out of the police by running and jump kicking into the line of riot police with shields as an opening move. So it can definitely work in the right context.
Will that clearly historically and scientifically accurate flying side kick finally convince mike that side kicks work?
Fabricio Werdum flying side kick against Travis Brown is a thing of beauty. Seeing that crazy giant brazilian go air bourne and side kick a 6'8 monster in the face is incredible.
If you can do flashy kicks, like those in TKD or sport wushu, which requires a great deal of athleticism, speed, strength and understanding of body mechanics then the more pragmatic grounded kicks are simple to learn. Doing flashy kicks is getting your muscle and body to overcompensate like swinging a weighted bat and then swinging a regular bat.
Did you see where the non flashy guy, with good body mechanics, did the flashy kick?
When Mike did his bit about what happens when you miss a flying technique in MMA, I was laughing all the way up until the punchline and then did the Walter White face.
I like this trio so much, their energy just mixes well lmao
They should collab more often.
The personality contrast between Mike and Jesse is so extreme and funny to me 😂
The edition on this one was hillarious. Also Mike acting like a kid that had too much sugar made my day.
Lol, I love these collabs... They feel like I'm in the multiverse.
sensei seth in the multiverse of ass kickery
Interesting that Jesse says karate’s high kicks originated from French savate because S. Korean TaeKwon-Do is best known for its high kicks, which originated from its historical and cultural martial art called TaekKyon, which dates back to Joseon Dynasty, around 1775-1800, before modern Korea was formed.
I always assumed that modern karate borrowed its high kicks from TKD, which also borrowed lot of its hand techniques from Shotokan karate. I could be wrong 😅
Taekwondo does not come from Taekkyon, but from karate.
because Taekkyon bases its kicks on sweep, crescent kick, push kick, and above all is fought on rhythm, taekwondo has little in common with Taekkyon, but everything up to the forms is a copy paste of karate but adapted in Korean.
@@YoGribouillie Hmmm…Not sure I totally agree with you on that one. Yes, TKD did have influence from karate as General Choi Hong Hi was a black belt in karate, but TKD was also a fusion of indigenous Korean fighting styles such as TaekKyon, Subak, and and Kwon Beop as well as having influence from Chinese martial arts.
Of course TKD is not TaekKyon. On that I agree 👍.
Before there was ITF and WTF/WT/Kukkiwon TKD, there was KTA (Korea TKD Association), which was comprised of 9 kwans or schools, including Chung Do Kwan (my instructor’s heritage), Oh Do Kwon (General Choi’s heritage), etc.
So origin of TKD is not as simplistic as just saying it came from karate unfortunately.
Mike is just running around like a hyper child in this vid having the time of his life!! i love it
WHEN OUR POWERS COMBINE…..!!!
It’s great to see you guys putting on a show together. It’s what the world needs right now to fight covid.
Its entertaining, to say the least to see you guys work together. Keep it up.
"get on the horse, seth" if you're still here
...wait
That intro killed me mate, the "to be continued" meme was a typical icy Mike move, finding ways to beat up Seth 😭😂 gaddamit, I love you guys ❤️ finding you guys was the best of my highlights in 2021
THE NERD , THE COOL GUY AND THE ODDBALL , I REALLY APPRECIATE THESE SERIES OF VIDEOS VERY FUNNY AND INSTRUCCIONAL AT THE SAME TIME
So cool to see the 3 of you guys having fun and contributing. I really like the collaboration because your conversations bring knowledge from your different perspectives. I don’t usually take the time to comment, but anyways great video.
The editing on this is GODLIKE!
Man, having all you three in a video is always a riot. I love it.
I'm loving this series, you guys are awesome
I love the energy and knowledge you guys all bring! You guys deliver the information in such a fascinating manner, makes me want to keep learning
I could watch these videos for ages, three martial artists just having a good time together
For a guy named Icy Mike, dude's got that excited kid energy oozing talking about badass flying kicks
The editing was masterful in this video, one of May favorites by you hands down
In my Shōtōkan school which is a kenkojuku Shōtōkan school, we never use jumping or flying kicks in sparring. One time I tried it and my sensei came by and grabbed me while I was in the air🤣
The content that you and the homies put together is always amazing!
This was both fun to watch and very informative!
Seeing you three together is Gold . It's funny but your dealing with a actual technique . Can't ask for much more . MORE MORE MORE . please
Oh my that first minute is hilarious! 🤣 Love to see the three of you together at Mike's dojo. And Mike's ADHD energy! Priceless! Ok, gonna watch the rest of the video now.
Ah man! That was good! Happy new year guys and everyone watching! 💕
Seth is quite a good teacher. Well I guess that's why he's sensei.
I really, really enjoyed seeing the three of you. Thx
Thanks so much, this was one of the funniest episodes ever! Merry christmas!
Guys having genuine fun while doing this, very cool!
Watching Seth going from "can't get on this rocking horse" to "Chubby Surprise Brilliant Flying Kicks" and back is really entertaining
Easily your best video Seth I loved the meme editing it’s been a while since I’ve seen to be continued
That was brilliant! It looks like you guys had a lot of fun filming that.
Please do a submission tier list with Ryron Gracie...feel like it would be a good video

You guys sure made a lot of fun videos togheter. I freakin love this.
Had a bad day, seeing seth ride that horse like a champ made me feel better, cheers guys
You guys make me laugh and learn at the same time!!!
This is such a fun video. More than anything else, I wish I had friends like these. Well done!
I trained primarily in Tang Soo Do w/ Hapkido. We were also always taught that jumping side kicks were for knocking mounties off their horse.... Also that pole vaulting, was invented the same way, where as shorter attackers would use a staff or spear to vault and increase their jumping height. Can't say I ever lived in feudal times to witness this, but that is what we were taught. Does kind of make sense too when you consider pole vaulting, heights, and the evolution of the arts.
Have to say, you 3 are the best on tube, of the many out there. You keep your teaching respectful to all arts, accurate, and humble. Thanks for all the great videos guys!!!
Mike in the backround all hyper and get on others nerves...
love it!
A true friend always helps someone off their high horse.
Love mike in the background, got me cracking up.🤣🤣
Too much fun😁,Also too much information
Thank you ,OSS 🙏🙏🙏
I would say that the Koreans and Chinese have the high kicking techniques to karate. This makes sense because the Rolling thunder technique is from kyokushin and the founder certainly trained in styles of martial arts(Korean and Chinese) that both had an abundance of high kicks.
wasn't expecting a jo jo reference but im sure happy it happened.
i knew these videos would be brilliant, and im not "disappointed"!
Ayeee 😂
Yes!!! Seth should have great seminars with Jesse Okinawa to learn lots of true original karate techniques to apply at his school. I’m loving it
That flying kick off the horse was the nuts
I laughed so much with this video thank you guys i needed that today
love jesse teaching every one true marshal art teacher
Love that Seth looks like somebody's grandmother climbing a step ladder while trying to get on the horse, then Mike just comes up and hops up on it like nobody's business. Thanks for not jumping on that in the moment and beating Seth over the head with it. #missedopportunities
This episode is absolutely hilarious. I love when icy mike and sensei seth get together
You guys are awesome!
That was terrific Seth!
I love this trio!!!
I just super like the dynamic between the three of you 😄
Funniest and most educational martial arts trio EVER! Y'all need an action film.
Well, well, well. Seth is horsing around again. :)
Awesome collab man. Best Christmas present ever.
Bro sensei seth and jesse are my 2 favourites martial arts youtubers and they are doing colabs now yay!!

Awesome Video Sensei Seth!
Sir, the parallelism with sutemi was pure gold 🤗💪🥋
2:00 - "Spread your legs over", best line I ever heard.
Get on the horse, Seth!
This was really great!
love love love this collab
seth doing a bunch of random kicks in the background while mike and jesse are talking to the camera is the best part of this video
you getting on that horse, then coming off lol absolute gold, damn your good value
Nice pointing out the shuffle with the crane kick & hollywood embellishing moves.
Also very nice on the JOJO reference.
😂🤣😆 this whole video was pure gold!!

The intro was unbelievable funny xD best insider joke of all time.
This video was hilarious. Nice work guys. 😆😆
dang it seth, git on the dang horse. You are geting good with the fresh memetic editing. That Jojo reference at the start sealed me in for the rest of the video.
love that you went all in to debunk the samurai on horse
You guys really rock! Nice ura mikazuki tobi geri by the way!!!! 💪💪🤗
get on the horse seth! you can do it I believe in you!
I like the explanation of practicing these things develops attributes. I have found that the very thing that makes a flying kick useless in a one-on-one self defense situation makes it useful in a situation involving multiple assailants who are encircling you. If you pick one guy and charge him with a flying kick, he will move out of the way and you will be out of the circle. If he doesn't move out of the way and the kick lands, you will have one fewer assailants with which to contend.
