I have a 2019 T680 and your video helped me change my recirculation filter. You were very concise and the person filming was spot on with keeping the camera where it needed to be. This was my first time changing this filter and your guidance had me doing this like a pro. Thanks for the great upload!
I changed this filter today WITHOUT removing the grab bar. You can get a Phillips screwdriver around the outside of the bar to remove the hidden screw for the glovebox after peeling away the small plastic triangular piece of fascia. have to work the glovebox out, but much easier than getting out the socket set to remove the grab bar. Takes less than 15 minutes to change the filter now.
Exactly! Nice catch. And then pull the side panel to right of the glove box and reach in that side. Much easier to get to and remove & replace the filter. The left side is the popular way & why Dealer's claim it's a 5 hour job. The right side complete with pulling the dash panels around glove box is only about an hour.
Oh my God thank you so much I've been trying to figure out if my Peterbilt 579 had one of those filters nobody not even the dealership could tell me if it had one. Thank you thank you thank you and thank you again.
Go Cards. I just wanted to know how to take the glove box off on my 2016 t680. Changed my filter while I was at it. This video was flawless for me, exactly the same. Thanks so much, just need to fix the glove box now or get a new one and put it back in. Really appreciate the video.
Hey Brother, good video, just finished the replacement of the recir filter this moment, hasn't been changed, first one, new truck, was filthy, but the filter, there are 2 in the engine compartment are the most crucial, and yes, there are 2, replace them every 6 months and your AC air will be fine! Thx
Thank you very much for this info. I also have a dog riding in the truck, and didn't realize how quickly that filter gets clogged on recirculating cycle. You are a figure it out dude, and I will buy you a steak if we ever cross paths.
I had Frightliner in my fleet, but I changed to Kenworth thinking it was the best truck in the USA and because of this A/C problem, and other manufacturing problems that they do not finish solving and they do not give me answers, today I continue to spend money in it and I don't even have credit for my expenses... Today I am happy with VOLVO
A real help i had taken everything off but couldn't locate it... Now I know where to look... Wonder why KW didn't reverse it, like Freightliner and have it right in the front
I absolutely cannot get the new filter to slide into place without bunching it up. I'll try again tomorrow but I have it in albeit, half ass. I have a Peterbilt 579 and it's mostly the same equipment. I really don't understand how it was so easy to slide the new filter in. I tore up my forearm badly trying to slide it in.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. About how long did you run the original filter before you changed it the first time? I know having dogs would shorten the life of the filter . I have a 2018 T-680 that I've had for around 9 months . I have no pets but would like to change it soon and add an extra filter outside the bottom intake vent to catch everything so I wouldn't have to change it as often.
Hi sir I have a question in reference to my 2015 KW T680. My heat is not working in the front however it does work in the rear of cabin. I went to a Mechanic and he said it’s going to take him 12 to 16 hours of labor and then what ever the parts would be. Any suggestions on this please.
Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you sooner, but it sounds like you’re front heater core is clogged. It’s pretty easy to change if you use a couple odd clamps to clamp the supply and Reston lines to the heater core.
What a pain in the butt!! I thought it was just under the hood and under the sleeper. Thanks! You think it would just be snapping the one panel off and fam there you go
Kenworth need to fire the engineers who designed such a cramped layout. I mean there’s tons of space in semi but still the engineers were dumb enough not to utilize it.
They REALLY don't want drivers taking care of their own shit ... just like everything else everything it's designed either for a mechanic or a dealership ... lol ... appreciate the DIY'er.
Leave it to engineers to make it that difficult to access a filter that supposedly needs to be cleaned or replaced often! I cleaned it once in 4 1/2 years, only because I had to change the blower.
Great video Dont have to take off grab bar. Just move the kick panel over to left a bit to get Phillips in (bottom left screw) Other than that A SHIT DESIGN FOR THE R&R OF THE FILTER!!!!!!
note to the **engineers, please next time make it imposible to change the good dam filter, like a need to remove the engine and transmission in order to do it??? we the truck drivers will be very happy, thank you....
I was volvo truck before buying t680 kenworth and way different rides but volvo transmission better than kenworth no doubt kenworth cab sleepers better than volvo , thanks
Why would they not have a better design for that? It should be open up the door pull it out no tools required but they have to make everything difficult
F*cking crazy engineering. I guess Paccar hired people that should not be engineers. The Freightliner you pull a tab from outside and the filter comes right out.
Here's a better way to replace the recirculation filter without having to remove the grab bar or the kick panel from Longhaul Larry. ruclips.net/video/q9-K49AQCPY/видео.html
Under the hood on the passenger side there is a door that you slide towards the firewall. This will allow you to slide the filter right out and replace it with the new one. put the door back on and slide it towards the front of the truck. Takes 10 seconds.
Whoever designed these newer trucks needs to have their butts kicked, I use to take literally 3 seconds to change the filter in my 379, this is ridiculous.
Rumble Truckin improvement that they installed a recirc filter. Very poor placement. After a couple times, only takes about 15 minutes to change. The dog is worth more than the truck.

Thank you thank you thank you and thank you again.
Thanks for the very informative video. This is ridiculous though, definitely the last pack car I'll ever buy. Going back to Volvo
Whoever designed this this way, deserves all the bad things that happen in their life.
Used this video for a 2016 Pete 567. The hvac system is identical. Thanks a lot.

Excellent video covering in detail exactly what I'm looking to do on my 2019 T680. Thank you! New subscriber here. 👍👍

Thanks. You saved me a tone of time and money. The difference is like night and day.
Thanks for this video man. Passing it down to Fedex freight where I work at.
Thanks for the video. Been trying to locate that filter since for ever.
what a piece of crap. you know on a 389 that is a 30 second job. 990 very disapointing
Two words... "Paper Clip"... Use a paper clip to help guide the new filter back in and keep it from bunching up. You're welcome 😜
Thank you very much for this info. I also have a dog riding in the truck, and didn't realize how quickly that filter gets clogged on recirculating cycle. You are a figure it out dude, and I will buy you a steak if we ever cross paths.
Great video. Been trying to figure how to change this filter for sometime. Thx a lot!
David Miller you’re welcome. I’m glad I was able to help.
Ur that best. Ty so much I was able to find out the filter was nasty in the truck we r running in.
Great video this in the blower motor one was exactly what I need
I needed to see this now I can change the filter . Thanks

Good stuff ..... Bet you saved alot of drivers good money by not having to go to the dealer to get it replaced ..... 👍
Do you know where is the actuator for the fresh/recirc on a 2012 T700?
Wondering what's this filter for and do?
Thx
Thank you for the video today I did some in video I change my filter
Great job. Thanks for the location.
Would you happen to know how to replace the driver and passenger side door mirrors on the same truck?
Wow! Thank you! Great help.
Would this be the same for t880 looks like it is.
My blower motor is on but I feel almost no air blowing out. Do you think it could be this filter?
I would bet the farm on it.
A longer filter and curved track below the vents would have been a better solution.
Good job Sir it help a lot 😊
Really appreciate your help
Thanks 🙏
Is a t880 the same as t 680

Excellent video. Thanks.
A real help i had taken everything off but couldn't locate it... Now I know where to look... Wonder why KW didn't reverse it, like Freightliner and have it right in the front
Jack Lausch glad it helped. Agreed about access. Not that bad though after doing it once or twice.
Is that the same for the t660 2010?
Thanks for sharing

Can that filter cause the dash to not blow air
Absolutely yes
Thanky sir..you help me alot..

Kenworth need to fire the engineers who designed such a cramped layout. I mean there’s tons of space in semi but still the engineers were dumb enough not to utilize it.
Is there a filter for the bunk heater?
Tony Farkas yes! It’s under the bunk
They REALLY don't want drivers taking care of their own shit ... just like everything else everything it's designed either for a mechanic or a dealership ... lol ... appreciate the DIY'er.
Thanks the 2016 pete 579 has it in the same place its easier to acces than yours but i see its all dirty..Thanks
Dude thank u a ton, took other crap off...
No need to remove the grab bar FYI
Eric Stephens gets it out of the way
Good job !
Whoops. I've been in my T880 for a year. Didn't know it had a cabin filter. Or this one.

It look like you overhauling the engine
That st.louis hat thooough

Question do kenworth t660 have this filter too??
Yes under hood right side
That’s ridiculous they make it that hard to change
Get the glove box off. Take the fan out. You're good
Under the hood on the passenger side there is a door that you slide towards the firewall. This will allow you to slide the filter right out and replace it with the new one. put the door back on and slide it towards the front of the truck. Takes 10 seconds.
C Crockett not the same filter, that filter is only for the fresh air, he is changing the recirculation filter.
Carl Newman okay, I guess I wasn't aware there was another filter in there. Seems like a real inconvenient place to put it.
@@ccrockett5358 no shit kw design brilliance what a dung berry
Living with dogs in a truck is gross, man
I appreciate you two cents worth of unsolicited opinion. I’ll file it in the appropriate receptacle.
Whoever designed these newer trucks needs to have their butts kicked, I use to take literally 3 seconds to change the filter in my 379, this is ridiculous.
You don't have to take the handle off. He makes this job seem harder than it really is. If your IQ is higher than 95 you'll be fine
Well, it looks like mechanic had an affair with PACCAR engineer's wife. That's why it's been designed that way.
No way in hell I'm going through all of that just to change a filter.
In a month or so, when those temperatures start to rise and your a/c is blowing weak, you'll change your mind 😆 🤣 😂 😹 It's actually not that bad.
Just to breathe alittle cleaner air... this is crazy.. kenworth ought to be embarrassed... no wonder our shop dont change these..
Why wouldn't you just get it from under the hood, you don't need any tools fo that way
It’s not the same filter. The one under the hood is the cabin air filter. The one just behind the blower motor is the recirc filter.
Pretty shitty design..... thank you KW
Terrible design
there is no way that this is the proper method.
Rumble Truckin appreciate your input. Was taught by two Kenworth techs. If you have a better method, I would love to hear it.
Semi Truck DIY This makes me not want to buy this truck. thanks for the knowledge. kill the dog.
Rumble Truckin improvement that they installed a recirc filter. Very poor placement. After a couple times, only takes about 15 minutes to change. The dog is worth more than the truck.
Semi Truck DIY I like my Kia Rio... no tools required, it is in the glovebox. Kenworth needs to go to South Korea for some lessons...
Thanks
