set them in a set of 14k yellow gold stud earrings,
positioning colour is a very important part of gem cutting many natural gems
do not have a uniform colour saturation throughout the rough gemstone
so orientating the stone correctly to match the colour in a pair of gemstones like this is an important part of the faceting process.

I wouldn't use a 1/10th of that wax.
It's simply not necessary to use that much.
I used green wax for quite a while. Now I use Black Wax exclusively. "A little dab will do ya" !
