After wanting dreads my whole life, I finally got my own set of DREADLOCK EXTENSIONS! I got these to celebrate my FOUR YEARS SOBRIETY and they finally arrived! I was recording another video when my dreads showed up at my door so I couldn't resist recording a before and after of my install! (sorry for the poor video quality, I had no clue what I was doing yet lol)

So crazy.. I’ve been looking at dreadfullhippie to get dreads and then looking up videos (found your pros and cons) and came here.. I also live in middle of nowhere Montana! Haha idk just thought it was a lot of coincidence 😋 I LOVE the way you look in dreads and it’s definitely pushing me towards making the leap!

@@nicolepoulton I’m going into town today so I think I’m going to buy some synthetic hair and try to make my own!😬 haha we’re on a tight budget and I love a good DIY.. but if all else fails I’ll just have to start a savings and be patient! They look soooo good on you!!
FUN!! Let me know how it goes making your own!! I have heard so many people do that and honestly it sounds a little intimidating to me for some reason haha i would love to make a few colored ones eventually for a pop of color in mine! :)

I believe it! They look great on you ☺️ It's a mixture between green and blue (cause my hair is aquamarine atm) I'm hoping it looks AWESOME!!!

These dreads are definitely expensive!
To be completely honest, it’s kinda hard to say. I haven’t tried any other brands so I don’t know how they compare. It could be possible you find some high quality dreads for cheaper…
That being said, I do not regret spending the money I did on my dreads. I feel like I have definitely gotten my moneys worth!
Plus, it seems like dreadful hippie has an awesome variety of dread/braid styles so your over all look can be extremely customized!

Thank you! And congratulations to you!! ❤️ mine are like 22 uncheck when folded in half but because they are double ended they can be made longer/shorter depending on how they are folded :)

they look amazing! how did you get the middle part when installing?
I plan ahead where I want my part to be :) I will start with the whole back of my head then once I’m done with that, I make the part down the middle and work one side at a time. I will make a video on how I section my hair while installing! :)
So beautiful. I don’t have to confidence to pull that off! I need to lose weight first. You look great! Have you seen the wave locks? I think I might be able to wear those idk though. I have so many questions. I had to have someone put them in I think idk if I could do it
I'm getting my first pair of dreadlocks extensions tomorrow they are blonde and I have a question I'm going to a theam park and if I go on a roller coaster will they come loss and come undone I'm so scared it will happen any advice for high speed with dread extensions

What made you go with synthetic?.... As opposed to human hair?
idk honestly! I kinda felt like if I was going to use real hair I would just dread my own, you know?

How many dreads did you install? I’m looking to buy some but I’m unsure of how many DE to get. The fullness of yours Would be ideal as to what I want!
I bought 9 packs (each pack has 5). I could have gotten away with 8 packs for my whole head. I didn't install three dreads So I have 42 in right now!

@@nicolepoulton okay! Thanks for the tip! I’m worried about it being to heavy…especially being that this will be my first installation of dreads. I was going to do natural, but my hair I think may be too fine to have a full head? Maybe after these grow some I’ll convert over?!
@@ShellzZ0325 What a lot of people do is they start with partials or do big sections. I have veryyyy thin/ fine hair so it took a while for my scalp to warm up to my dreads but it will adapt over time.
If you are wanting to start with a full head (like I did), just make larger sections so more hair is holding onto the dread. I would leave those in for a month then by the time you need to move them up, your scalp might be ready for more :)
Just listen to what your body is telling you. Im sure they will look amazing no matter how you decide to do it!

hi! i got dreads from dreadful hippie as well but i’m facing some discrimination issues :( i was wondering if you were ever confronted for culture appropriation and how you dealt with it? i would really like to some help from you and any one else who reads this!
I’m so sorry your having issues with this! I get that sometimes too.
I see it this way:
People will judge me no matter what I look like. Skinny or thick, tall or short, symmetrical or asymmetrical, natural hair or dreads. You are risking people judging you no matter what you look like.
You might as well live your life how you want!
To offend no one you have to say nothing, do nothing, be nothing 💜 stay strong
For people who may be racist:
Vikings wore dreadlocks.
Many Africans wear dreadlocks (including South Africans, where there’s some white people).
Dreadlocks aren’t specific to any one skin tone or culture.
To the people who just get upset about what other people do with their hair:
Hair is very important to people. It makes us feel more confident, more ourselves. By being upset that I’m making myself happy, you’re clearly just not a happy person yourself. Go treat yourself better.
At the end of the day, be proud of what you do for yourself first. And then be proud for the people who like that you treat yourself well.
Anyone who’s being a shit is just the friendly reminder that your in a better place.

Dreadlocks are originally from Egypt m, Greece and India, worn as well by so many other cultures such as in Meso American people and others countries in Africa…
I just feel it’s a bit dumb to talk about cultural appropriation since everything in the world is made of something and got inspired by many cultures.. without to mention that hair naturally dreadlocks themselves if we don’t brush them.. so 😅 people should really let others do what they want!!! It’s okay of being white and wearing dreadlocks as it’s okay for black to wear Caucasian wigs.. I wish people were more understanding 🫶🏽
1st of all, any and all hair types will lock if left unattended. Therefore it is not just one race who can claim dreadlocks. Secondly, the earliest recorded dreads were worn by the Hindus.. people from India! Dreadlocks can also be traced back in Chinese culture, Indigenous cultures, the Greeks, Norwegians, the Celts. The list goes on and on. The next time you are faced with somebody spouting off their ignorance, I would suggest you tell them to go and open history book. Africans did NOT invent dreadlocks
What video did u watch to learn how and where on ur head to put them?
When I was learning there weren't any videos that really helped me out but once I learned how to install, I recorded my own! It has helped a ton of people learn how to install so I suggest checking that out :)
How long are you able to keep these in your hair?
I keep mine in for about 6 weeks or 8 week with a week 4 touch up. :)
Are the synthetic or real human hair... they look really good

What length are they
They are about 20-22 inches but the fold over ones. So one dread is actually two haha so it’s super long! I know you can cut them (at a very sharp angle) too to make them shorter!

Ha ha ha ha ha I was wondering I haven’t gone to your channel yet if I know this was a year ago so I don’t know if you’re still representin the dreads or not. If you are, I was wondering if you could do a live installing dreads with me video. It’s only you I would ask that of your pace is perfect. My natural hair just won’t grow without these in :/ I think I use too much heat to style it without the dreads.
