There are about 50 other install tutorials out there for the braiding methods!! So if what I'm saying doesn't make sense, please do some searches and watch more videos on this!! And check the description for A TON of extra info I couldn’t include in this vid. I'm not super happy with how this turned out, so I'll be making more in-depth vids for you guys soon! Also, if you’re installing for the first time make sure to be patient! My first install took me 6 hours as I figured everything out, but now I have it down to about 3 hours (depending on how many I have :p). Just keep with it and take breaks if you need to. And have some music on or something to watch while you work!
I don't even know what to say about the previous reply ._. But- I think the video turned out great, I've been waiting FOREVERRR for a new dread install tutorial. definitely not disappointed!(/^▽^)/
I have severe anxiety and find your videos soothing while I do my dreads. Very creative color patterns and I love the music! I did my last install literally the day before you uploaded this, but I'll watch again for sure when ready to install the next set! Watching your videos feels like doing hair with a friend but without the social anxiety pressure to interact. I am especially glad, in this video, you showed how to blanket stitch and the first wrap arounds on the regular braid. I always mess the initial one up haha! also your sectioning is fierce. How much product do you apply to your hair for braiding and when? Interested in seeing how product would help my hair. Thank you for posting this video, you're awesome! :)
i think for me his her mouth. she has a expressive way to speak, a healthy smile and the shape of her lips kind of draw my eye. P.s.: well who would have thought that this comment actually get so many upvotes o_o
I have alopecia, so my hair balds, and I'm thinking about dreads for the first time. I never could do it because I would have to braid them myself. We are opposites, hello
@@randomfroginapond5001 it takes practice! I paid a loctician/braider in my area to help install my first set. I installed a set on a wig for my cousin who had cancer, so that was good practice. I STILL have issues installing them on the very back near the base of my neck, but I can usually find someone to help with like 4 of them lol
Really great HOW TO video. Thanks. At 53, I decided it was time my grey hair have additional dreads. I have to say, you are very confidant, and well spoken.
I'm now 40 VERY MUCH looking forward to getting my 1st ever set. This look is beautiful and I like how the hair is rapid around the extension, less damage to the owners hair itself. Wicked cool! ^♡^
You never know until you try! Plus a way to test out dreads temporarily are dreadfalls, it's how I made sure I wanted to go through with installing the first time. There are some good vids on them on yt, just search "dreadfalls tutorial" and they'll pop up. Maybe it'll give you the final push to go for it!
Freddie Boi I didn’t think I’d look good with them till I did it. DO IT!!! Never question what if. Best thing about synth dreads is that if you don’t like the way you look with them in you can easily unbraid n take em out.
I don't have dreads, but I'm fascinated by other creating their style! Super informative and inspiring. The blanket stitch reminds me of making friendship bracelets as a kid... just on your head and with a greater purpose! Absolutely rad! x
Excellent presentation/demonstration, clear, concise and good sound quality. Thank you, has given this 60 year old confidence to try and put my own in :)
I’ve watched a lot of videos for dread installs, and I’ve tried many methods…I ALWAYS come back to her method in this video! The most secure and comfortable way IMO. Thanks, girl!!
I realy like you . I'm from germany and i can't speak realy good english ,but when i listen you I learn english a little bit . I don't like my english teacher and i can't learn by him . Thank you .i realy like your vidios and i realy like you
Dude! Thank you! I've been doing my own hair and making dreads for almost 20yrs and I'm still learning. That extra step before you actually braid them in, works so much better. On top of, I watched a different video and you say that you'll never install them with wet hair again and you explained why.....I never even thought about that. So with my dreads I just reinstalled, I used a water based product and also used the extra step before braiding. And I prefer the blanket stitch braid....but like you said, which ever works better for you. But my head isn't as sore after the first few days and I can tell the install is tighter and is gonna last longer. Thank you again!
You inspired me to get my own synth dread extensions bit over a year ago. I've had 3 sets since, got a custom one on it's way to my in the post now. My main tip: With braiding, if you're careful with the angle you braid at you can get them almost as close together as the second method you showed (does require a fair bit of tension though). Stay awesome ♡
So I didn't know I was doing a mix of 2. I was just braiding the top like a blanket stitch then sometimes doing the more loose weave of braid for the look.
This was an awesome & easy to follow discription on how to install your basic double-ended dreads. I think you did an awesome job explaining, and everything you said was perfectly clear. I'm 23 and this was one of the easiest tutorials I have ever seen, loved it. You're adorbs too!
I'm waiting for my order of my first-ever dreads to arrive, and this is very helpful for when I'll be braiding them in :) Especially the part about "securing" the dread first, I've never heard of that before but I'm glad I found out about it in time! Now I just need to find some of those rubber bands, it proved harder than I thought... (Unless I want to pay for overseas shipping - I live in Sweden)
@@TheAverageServant I did end up getting some cheap ones, thinking exactly that - if they snap, I can just get another. Didn't work out as well as I'd hoped, they were continuously snapping while wearing the dreads so I was littering broken rubber bands everywhere without noticing and braids started coming loose. Next time I'll either have to double/triple each rubber band, or just get better ones. I did also get some proper ones at one point (I've worn my dreads three times since posting my first comment) and the proper ones lasted just fine so I might just bite the bullet and buy those again even though they're more expensive.
Hey girl! I just made my own set of dreads and i love them so much! Kept them in for 3 weeks and now i feel like i have 4 hairs to my name!(because of the density difference it didnt make my hair come out) Thank you for your videos they have really helped me! I am a hairdresser and they didnt teach dreadlocks in school so ive had to come to youtube for that and you have really helped! Keep up the good work!
What you're doing is actual braiding, Other people are doing a dumbed down version of it. I found yours to be the easiest and recommended it to my friend!
When i saw you at first time, i said "Omg, she's so awesome!" and my mom like "R u stupid, baby?", cause i'm 27 years and i'm military, I can't dye my hair 😂 But! I like all what you do and i like all your transformations! And i still dreaming about colorfull hair in future, maybe at 60 yearsi can do this without public censure. My english is vary bad, but i hope you understand all what i want to say, cause you inspire me so long ❤️
This is a great video! Wish I would have seen it last year when I started installing my lover's double ended dreads. I will try both the blanket braid and the installation method. Thank you for your service.
I tried the first wrapping method for the first time whilst installing a set of dread extensions and I think it's going to be my new go-to, Its so simple and comfortable. Before I was securing the top of the dread with a band then braiding and I found after a couple of days I was shedding bands everywhere and had major dread-slip. So thank you. :) I love watching your videos, Keep up the great work x
This is awesome ! I want a few scattered dreads but bc I'm in the medical field I can't keep them in.. so this is an awesome video for a more temporary method ! You are awesssommmeee !
Yep, at first glance this sounded hard to pull of. But it's how I installed my dreads this time and I got used to it fairly quick. Seems like the best method to me, and it feels good on my head! Although I still do have some trouble sleeping.
I have been going through a lot of people’s videos of like talking about synthetic dreads and I have so many questions that I can’t find any answers to so maybe someone here can answer them, 1: does doing synthetic dreads damage your hair? 2: I want to get long ones (22 inch I think) and I found a website called doctoredlocks and I was wondering if anyone has used them and if they are good 3: I don’t have a lot of money to spend on super expensive ones and I don’t want to get very expensive ones and then not like them so I plan to just get basic ones and since I’m buying them online and I’ve never done it before idk how much I need 4: I don’t have any part of my hair shaved and my hair goes about to below my bra would I need to cut my hair for this to work? 5: I’m afraid people might get offended by me wearing dreads and I really like them but I might be too scared to get them. Do you have any advice on how to not be? I have a lot more questions but this is all I need for now someone please help!!
oof okay. dreads don't damage your hair, you're just braiding your regular hair around em and the braids sit there and chill out for awhile so it's totally fine; ah leaving them in for a long time with loose roots can cause the roots to dread a bit and you'd have to pick the hair apart to get it straight again but that won't even damage if you do it gently (figured that could possibly make you feel like your hairs damaged but nah) - doctoredlocks dreads are fucking TRASH sorry but do not go with machine made dreads jfc will have a bad time. You can find pretty cheap "okay" ones on etsy. Popular amount for a full set is 45 DE, that's what I recommend. You can do more/less depending on your own hair thickness and the dreads thickness though. And you definitely don't need to cut your hair at all, just do shorter braids probably lol. andd I feel like people online are more shitty about dreads than people in person, i've been wearing them off and on for like 9 years and never had anyone sass me irl, even though i'm kinda worried i will be but mainly cause i'm paranoid as a person anddd yeah lmao but i guess it does take some balls to wear them, cause some people are stupid and shitty????
1: they Wont damage your hair, I use them and I'm a cosmetologist. As a matter of fact they actually help protect your natural hair. There's less need for chemicals once they are installed, help protect a bit from sun exposure, and ultimately keep you from destroying your hair if you're like me and need change often to survive. Ive been seeing shaved heads everywhere and itching to shave mine but I know I have a huge forehead and willing to bet my head is shaped weird at so I'm installing new dreads next week so I'll calm down. I also install some every summer be hair grows faster in those months and if you remove them at the end it's like surprise new hair Lmao. 2: doctored locks are not 'trash' they are not meant to just be installed out of the package, unless you order the ones that are, which cost more. They are well worth the price if you put in some work. You will probably need 4-6 packs with a full head depending on thickness of your hair, the sections you make, and how you want the end results, so yes it may end up costing around 50 or more but regardless what anyone says you will not find a full set in better condition for that price on Etsy, in fact slot of the sellers buy these and simply tease, seal, and decorate them and charge hundreds of dollars. Doctored locks need to be teased and sealed before application or they will unravel and look like crap. You can watch tutorials on here for how to do it, it's not too hard just takes time. And honestly recommend them if you've never had dreads be you may not like them and why buy a 200 dollar set if you end up hating them right? They're cheaper and look fake at first but after i teased and sealed mine I sprayed them with dry shampoo and rolled them In my palms and they looked natural as as any other set. As far as other peoples opinions I've never had a problem with this and I was warned I would. In fact I get the best reactions from black girls, they love them and appreciate that I install them myself. I'm sure it could happen at any time but I work with alot of black people and they have gave nothing but good feedback, they even say it makes me more approachable to them. A couple white people online have bitched at me about them, but are usually shut down pretty quickly. All in all I think they're great. Hot sometimes but there are ways to style them to help you keep cool and even though they're heavier and I'm prone to migraines they really didn't make them any worse. They're also fun to decorate and I love that I can just pull some out of my face and tie them together in the back and they'll stay there all day lol
Her patience for braiding all of those dreads are saaintly.. My eyes (my eyes would always hurt whenever I style my hair and I kept looking at my head like that 😂) and arms would probly hurt after braiding 1 dread onto my hair. She has to do her whole set. Goodness must be really tiring. Great thing that she loves what she does. 🧡
Would you say Tyto dreads are your favorite brand? I’ve never really put anything into my hair except dye. Lol but I really want to try some dreads out. You’ve persuaded me. Also persuaded me to go through a death hawk phase. Haha, much love to you. (Btw, EDC Ls Vegas?:)
Thanks for this tutorial! After watching this video and your Do's and Don'ts I was able to install them quite well on my first try! Have always wanted to try this and I finally was able to and it looked amazing! One thing I learned that you should mention sometime (which you may have already done in a different video) is that the direction you lay down the dread is the direction you should expect it to hang. I installed one direction with the expectation that I'd flip it to the other, which didn't go smoothly, but I still made it work. Either way, these videos were super informative and easy to follow. Thanks!
No hate I love your videos, but I just finished watching this black girl giving a tutorial on her dread loc installation and there were soooooo many hate commetns saying she looked dirty and ghetto. Love your videos though!
I want dreads but my boyfriend hates them 😂 edit: sheesj i didnt say that i wasnt allowed to have them i just stated his opinion, i would also hate it if he suddenly shaved his head or something
Brilliant :) also got my dreads from Tyto, got them for my wedding and unfortunately didn't get chance to install them, but I really want them sorted before my honeymoon and this is the best tutorial I've seen xx
It definitely makes sense, understood completely. my hair is sooopa fine but masses of it, it doesn't matter if it's wet/dry/clean it's always really slippy. I need to put a tiny rubber elastic in and thread the loc underneath it, then when I begin to twist as you suggest in a way that covers it up. Also, when I section I hold the hair outstretched and move it in a wide circle to make sure there are no snags that will be painful. I'm a half dread, behind the fringe to the crown of my head installer {(I'm older and can't rock a death hawk or cyber dreads so they are black like my own hair)and being really neat stops the bottom of my hair getting caught up and trapped in the dreads. I also suggest for half dread installs to pin or tie your dreads up away from the rest of your hair before bed and use a satin pillow!!! that really lessons tangles. Big love! you are always really informative (even when you insist you're not) TONS OF FUN and have the easiest to follow installs. From an X raver....your soundtracks BANG! XXX
Your videos helped me a lot to understand many things about dread extensions. Also when I first had dread extensions I watched your videos so there I figured out how many extensions I needed, how to section my hair and how to braid them . Thank you a lot, I still have my dreads and they look fabulous thanks to your advices !
Thank you, thank you, thank you! For making this video, it helped me finally get mine in nicely!!! You are the only one I have watched that explained how to get them In tight. The extra under twists are awesome!!!
I don't mean to be that person, but I have a huge tip for you. The fact that our culture, hairstyle, and struggle is being taken away (nothing new as history shows) breaks my heart. There are black people with dreads that can't find jobs and are being stereotyped as drug dealers and criminals by police today. Yet we need to watch a "pretty" girl do it for a fashion statement. Really think about the people you are stepping on when you make your choices. I know its obviously difficult for the world to have cultural sensitivity but i just hope some real words and history enlightened you on the people that you steal from and don't even think about. Block this comment if you want, I just hope you learn.
@@finlaymarron exactly. Also dreadlocks aren’t just part of African cultures, they’ve been found to be a widely utilized hairstyle throughout most of the world during some age. For example in India they were and are still worn by the Sadhus, also some Vikings were found to have worn dreadlocks, as well as countless other cultures around the world for different reasons. It’s completely ignorant to say she is “stealing” the hairstyle, when almost every race has some sort of connection to it. Also it’s her hair, and her money, so no she doesn’t have to care about what you feel towards her wearing said hairstyle.
Super helpful! I've had years of full dreads and I took em out/cut em off like 2 years ago. Recently I decided since I'm not working in the field anymore that I was, now I made some woolies and am going to install soon.. but decided to see how other ppl do it! This was very helpful
This is a great tutorial, regardless of if you think you're bad at "this sort of thing" [haha] or not! Have saved and will definitely be using for help whenever I do mine! But, I'll probably do the blanket-stitch because my hair goes almost to my hips!!! Thanks for the help hunny!

This is a great video! Wish I would have seen it last year when I started installing my lover's double ended dreads. I will try both the blanket braid and the installation method. Thank you for your service.
She’s so beautiful I swear to god half the time I’m not even listening 😂💕
Confident, talented, and just beautiful with an amazingly unique style all her own
jesus this is so goddamn fast all ive watched the step im on like 5 times and ive successfully done is poke myself in the eye
😂😂
I'm not even going to get dreads yet I can't stop watching you and your dreads.
Thank you so much for uploading! Thanks to your videos, I help my sister install her dreads c: You're the best! 💜 Much Love!~
Yay that's awesome!!
I love watching your videos, Keep up the great work x
Love you ❤️❤️❤️
This is awesome ! I want a few scattered dreads but bc I'm in the medical field I can't keep them in.. so this is an awesome video for a more temporary method ! You are awesssommmeee !
The medal comb is called a “rat tail comb”
Yep, at first glance this sounded hard to pull of. But it's how I installed my dreads this time and I got used to it fairly quick. Seems like the best method to me, and it feels good on my head!
Although I still do have some trouble sleeping.
I have been going through a lot of people’s videos of like talking about synthetic dreads and I have so many questions that I can’t find any answers to so maybe someone here can answer them,
1: does doing synthetic dreads damage your hair?
2: I want to get long ones (22 inch I think) and I found a website called doctoredlocks and I was wondering if anyone has used them and if they are good
3: I don’t have a lot of money to spend on super expensive ones and I don’t want to get very expensive ones and then not like them so I plan to just get basic ones and since I’m buying them online and I’ve never done it before idk how much I need
4: I don’t have any part of my hair shaved and my hair goes about to below my bra would I need to cut my hair for this to work?
5: I’m afraid people might get offended by me wearing dreads and I really like them but I might be too scared to get them. Do you have any advice on how to not be?
I have a lot more questions but this is all I need for now someone please help!!
i want to know aswell
oof okay. dreads don't damage your hair, you're just braiding your regular hair around em and the braids sit there and chill out for awhile so it's totally fine; ah leaving them in for a long time with loose roots can cause the roots to dread a bit and you'd have to pick the hair apart to get it straight again but that won't even damage if you do it gently (figured that could possibly make you feel like your hairs damaged but nah) - doctoredlocks dreads are fucking TRASH sorry but do not go with machine made dreads jfc will have a bad time.
Sammii Synthetic And anyone who is rude to someone because they have dreads is just jealous that they don't have the balls to wear them!
Thank you! this was really easy to follow and you dont hide what you were doing from the camera. THANK YOU!
The 7 people that disliked this video have no soul
No No or maybe no hair
Or there black
Girlll I’d watched your videos when I was in middle school. Now I’m 23 hope your doing good ❤❤❤❤
i want to have dreads bc of u :
Thanks for this tutorial! After watching this video and your Do's and Don'ts I was able to install them quite well on my first try! Have always wanted to try this and I finally was able to and it looked amazing!
One thing I learned that you should mention sometime (which you may have already done in a different video) is that the direction you lay down the dread is the direction you should expect it to hang. I installed one direction with the expectation that I'd flip it to the other, which didn't go smoothly, but I still made it work. Either way, these videos were super informative and easy to follow. Thanks!
Love you💜💜💜you are the best💜💙❤
No hate I love your videos, but I just finished watching this black girl giving a tutorial on her dread loc installation and there were soooooo many hate commetns saying she looked dirty and ghetto. Love your videos though!
What does that have to do with her?
I wish I was bold enough to get a haircut like this. I love it so much!
I want dreads but my boyfriend hates them 😂
edit: sheesj i didnt say that i wasnt allowed to have them i just stated his opinion, i would also hate it if he suddenly shaved his head or something
dump him
Shona Kane not gonna let an amazing guy go because he has an opinion on a certain hairstyle 😚
Will he leave you for a hairstyle? Then he really is not worth it.
Do it anyways man
so when you put dreads in your hair be sure to follow this tutorial:)
Omg you save my world ... been spending hundreds just to install to salon ... thx girl
WHAT A FUCKING CUTIE 😳😳😍😍😍
Brilliant :) also got my dreads from Tyto, got them for my wedding and unfortunately didn't get chance to install them, but I really want them sorted before my honeymoon and this is the best tutorial I've seen xx
So how many babies have you sacrificed for your baby face? I've sacrificed 6 so far
As u should
@@Livingd3adgir1 hey I was just kidding lmao pls don't sacrifice babies. Adults are okay tho
Just started watching your videos can't wait to do these when I'm older! Your amazing!
Wow
Goda Ban :)
XXX
PLEASE HEARTS I Love You 😅
Your videos helped me a lot to understand many things about dread extensions. Also when I first had dread extensions I watched your videos so there I figured out how many extensions I needed, how to section my hair and how to braid them . Thank you a lot, I still have my dreads and they look fabulous thanks to your advices !
Girl.. 💀
💯
She's not 'stealing' anything. Nothing is stopping you from having dreads if you want.
@@Lion08888 well said 👏👏👏
@@Lion08888 those are absolutely not the same as dreadlocks.
Super helpful! I've had years of full dreads and I took em out/cut em off like 2 years ago. Recently I decided since I'm not working in the field anymore that I was, now I made some woolies and am going to install soon.. but decided to see how other ppl do it! This was very helpful
Ew
?
This is a great tutorial, regardless of if you think you're bad at "this sort of thing" [haha] or not! Have saved and will definitely be using for help whenever I do mine! But, I'll probably do the blanket-stitch because my hair goes almost to my hips!!! Thanks for the help hunny!
Giant yikes

I’m getting dreads. My hair is super long right now. Thank for the video.
You’d face is so precise you look like an avatar from the app SecondLife or IMVU. Absolutely flawless and your features are so aesthetically pleasing. Even your voice, you’d be great at ASMR 🦋🤍💚
Just subscribed!! I've installed my dreads twice and they have slipped in a few days, I appreciate the extra step in the braiding to help prevent this! You're very informative & I love your hair & dreads!!
They look so nice. Thanks, it made so much sense. Can't wait to try this 😊
This is a great reference and this vid taught me way more than a few others I've watched. Cheers! xx
This is so dope, I want dreads but I’d probably do it this way for a while before doing the real thing to be sure I like the look of it on me 🔥
So hard to understand but so satisfying to watch ..for some reason
I love you. It's easy to learn from a good looking teacher. 🤣
