In Istria second language is Italian (official), also in Dalmatia, but non official...that`s why people know the words of Angelina Mango... ;) nice reaction!
And the whole Dalmatia as well. It's because history... Roman Empire and Venetian Republic built towns and had colonies here. Tho, Italy today has nothing to do with Venetian Republic, nor with Roman Empire. It's a totally different nation. But there are some iredentists (Italian ultra nationalists) who still want to claim those lands.
