    Are there better things than a world that's currently under isolation? Lots. And chances are we have some non-perishables that have been collecting dust just waiting for a chance to be used. But before we panic we won't be able to cook something satisfying, I am willing to bet you already have the essentials for an INCREDIBLY SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS soup right in your Instant Pot.
    All it takes are TWO basic ingredients to get this soup started: beans and broth (or water). The rest of the seasonings are likely to be found in your cupboard and are totally up to you to customize this Basic Bean Soup into a hearty and delicious meal.
    And since dried beans cook rapidly under pressure with no overnight soaking required, this is going to be done in record time.

      I add carrots, celery seed and a tbsp of red chilli flakes before pressure cooking. There are so many ways of making this. You could even add a bit of liquid smoke instead of ham if you don't eat meat.

  • @siliconpenguin
    @siliconpenguin 4 года назад +83

    @4:28 he added the dry beans without washing them... That's how I did it for four decades. And then I tried washing(rinsing) them in a clear glass bowl. Just run water on them and agitate, dump the dirty water and repeat until the water stops being dirty. And yeah, sometimes the water looks like you just washed your dog in it. I always wondered why sometimes my beans tasted "earthy". RINSE YOUR BEANS!!

    Thank you for the base recipe! My version tonight had: 5 diced hot Italian sausage (from the freezer), 1 onion, several small sweet peppers, chopped fresh green beans (cause they were in the fridge), 2 gutted yellow squash (cause they were in the fridge), chicken broth (from the freezer), chopped garlic, red chili flakes, ground mustard, ground cumin and about 2 cups lentils from a bulk container I had on hand. I didn't stop and blend. I let it go through the whole cycle. It was so delicious!

    works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

    Wow. So good. Please keep these type of easy, in your cupboard, recipes coming. This was amazing and I’m not a bean person. I am now. I added smoked paprika (had it in my cupboard).

      That's long I cook them. 35 minutes, some are not cooked enough for me.

    New subscriber here! I posted on Facebook yesterday that I had made my first instant pot meal and several of my friends recommended that I check you out. I'm so glad I did because I've been wanting to make bean soup but I haven't found the right recipe. This one is it! I'll just add some ham instead of bacon and it will be pretty close to what I was raised on. Thank you!

    Just made this and OMG SO SO SO GOOOOOOOD...did everything you said to sautés and add the broth and the beans and cooked for 35 minutes....then just removed a half cup of beans and smashed to a paste added back in pot...then the italian seasoning, tyme, smoked paprika 1 tbsp...the maple syrup and i browned 1lb of ground chuck and drained it and added it to the pot ...sauted on medium for 15 minutes so it could thicken up.....it was so so so so gooooood ...MY VERSION OF ITALIAN WEDDING SOUP ....THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING US TO BE MORE CREATIVE IN THE KITCHEN.....
