I have to make this for my friends! Your recipes are always so good and this looks easy. Thank you!
Thank you! I hope you and your friends enjoy it!
I made this for lunch and I'm eating it right now. So good!! It really hits the spot.
I was finally able to use my ham bone that has been in my freezer since Christmas.
Fantastic! I love that you found use for your ham!
Looks yummy!
Looks very good........I am going to try your recipe tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy
I love your videos!!
Hi Elsa! Thank you!
Wonderful.
Many thanks!
I made the soup last night almost, but not quite as written. I added a chicken bouillon Cube for just a little bit more flavor, and because I was using a full pound of beans, I added an extra cup of water to make sure I had enough liquid. I know this will run contrary to your warnings about salt but I actually soaked my beans overnight in lightly salted water. They recommend this for cooking beans under pressure, because it greatly reduces the number of beans that explode when pressure cooking. Everything was cooked perfectly, and well-seasoned. I also added generous amount of cubed ham after the beans were cooked. I would say putting in carats is entirely unnecessary they don't contribute anything the flavor, and they are going to turn mushy by the time the beans are done. I start this with some absolutely perfect, fluffy, buttermilk biscuits, it really hit the spot on a cold night. I'm a stay-at-home parent to three kids, this recipe absolutely fit our schedule with very little Hands-On time. Great stuff!
Thank you for sharing your modifications! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed overall!
This recipe is perfect for those who want to use leftover holiday ham in an economical way. The soup is also tastier and healthier than the high-sodium canned stuff from the grocery store.
Totally agree! Glad you enjoyed it!
A friend gave me a frozen ham bone, going to try this, or something similar today. I've got some vegetable broth, ham bone, beans, potatoes, corn, carrots... I'm just going to make it up and hope for the best. Should be good
Hope you enjoy
School lunch bean and bacon...yumyum
So good!
I'll have a cup. Thanks cuz.
Enjoy!
Do you think a Five Bean Melody would work with this recipe? Thanks
For this recipe, yes! The beans won't blend up creamy though, so I recommend skipping that part.
To avoid the burn notice, I dump everything into a different inner pot just before cooking- since that's what has to be done anyway. PITA.
Oh that is a pain! You should be able to avoid having to do that if you scrape the bottom really well.
@@AMindFullMom Doesn't make a difference.
@@dkyelak That is extremely frustrating! It sounds like your model is extremely finicky.
Gonna do this, thanks. But you used tomato paste, the recipe says sauce?
Oh it is is sauce. Sorry about that!
If someone eats Kosher what could you use instead of ham?
You may try a smoked turkey leg.
Was that tomato paste or sauce?
Sauce :)
I was wondering….can we use the instant pot as a pressure cooker. I have received pecans and almonds from friends
Can you do a video on this? Thank you
What kind of recipe do you want for pecans and almonds? I do use the instant pot as a pressure cooker :)
@@AMindFullMom I guess I should of said water bath. Mom’s recipe, from her index card which is faded and what I remember, would place the nuts on a cookie sheet and bake them at 250 degrees, it’s faded, for 30 minutes. Then she would allow them to cool and then place them in glass jars and screw on the lids. Place them in a large pot filled with water cook them …I think it says 35 minutes . They lasted for months on the shelf. So can I do a water bath in the instant pot
@@mynewknees I don't think I would recommend it. Because she cooked at such a low temperature, the higher heat in the Instant Pot would not be the same. I would need to really experiment to perfect it.
So it’s ham and bean soup, but no ham in it? 🤔
It was made with a ham bone.
Looks yummy!
