We checked the lab feature in the Samsung galaxy wearable app and can confirm this feature does allow you to control volume with the edge of the Galaxy Buds +. Thank you for your comments and raising awareness about this mistake in our review.

Uh..this guy's not objective. AT ALL. This is going to be a novel, but I'm putting it here for anyone interested. I watched a previous earbuds comparison review video by this channel, where I thought it was fantastically in-depth and accurate.
Upon watching this review, I'm inclined to believe this channel may be inept, if not downright dishonest on certain reviews.
He can dazzle with sound comparisons and fancy charts, but considering the many inaccuracies I've found in this video, I'm wondering if I can even trust that the audio comparisons are not either faulty or manipulated. You can look up "Gell-mann Amnesia effect" to understand what I'm talking about.
This reviewer uses very subtle subversion and psychological tactics to pass off very strong biases as neutral.
From what I saw in THIS review, I'm left wondering if he's either taking money for coloring this review, or is doing it to curry favor with a Samsung competitor like Apple.
While he obviously wouldn't want to ruin the reputation he's trying to build, he certainly is using known tactics to suppress Samsung's appeal that can remain undetectable to the average viewer.
      Notice these things:
      1. Pay attention to each feature and whether what he says about each presents it as a "win" or a "loss" for Samsung. Then consider the overall count of each.
      2. Notice when Samsung does have a feature "win", he says one or 2 sentences on it but moves on quickly unless he can use it to point out a negative, and he'll focus your attention more on the negative.
      3. He totally glossed over the app with new ambient sound settings and the additional external mic which makes your ears a little bionic, and he doesn't seem to know the difference between bluetooth multi-pairing and multi-point.
      4. And he would never go out of his way to explain how Samsung's simple competence outranks the negatives of other products, like pointing out that the multiple ways to control Samsung earbuds vs. how Bose earbuds sometimes need to be taken out of your ear in order to see what you're doing. Nope, that might make Samsung look good.
      5. He always dampens any Samsung feature "wins" by immediately citing a downside, EVEN IF THERE ISN'T ONE. Like letting you know of the wireless charging but--almost compulsively--pointing out that it's slow compared to corded charging, as if that's a negative for Samsung's wireless charging. Everybody knows corded charging is always faster than wireless, no matter the device, but he always has to end on a negative with this Samsung review.
      6. The word "disappointing"--a word not mentioned in other reviews of his that I saw--appears to be a disingenuous manipulation of viewer, considering he doesn't seem to have had any previous personal preference for Samsung, himself. So, using an emotionally-charged word like "disappointing" more than once in this review primes a more intense reaction in Samsung fans on a psychological level. This is a known tactic.
      7. I realize the title is comparing an older Samsung product to a newer Samsung product, but this is very convenient for other brands. Most people, like me, would be interested in a brand-against-brand comparison, with the older model thrown in as a bonus. But, by not subjecting any other company to a point-by-point comparison to Samsung, he isolates Samsung from upstaging any brand in particular. By doing this, he avoids any chance of inadvertantly elevating Samsung as a top challenger to ANY dominant brand. He just leaves Samsung vying against itself in a corner, hoping it won't gain visibility.
      8. Instead, he constantly picks and chooses which other product he compares each Samsung feature to, individually. Since every product has strengths and weaknesses, he can cast a CONSTANT negative light on the Samsung product by comparing each individual samsung feature to any product that happens to score better on that **particular** feature.
This is a very insidious tactic. It's like taking Natalie Portman--a rich, beautiful, well-rounded actress that most girls would trade places with if they could--and presenting her to someone not familiar with her by saying:
"Sure she's a popular actress but her face is nowhere as pretty as Margot Robbie, Pamela Anderson has way bigger breasts, she's not as feisty as Emma Stone, and Meryl Streep has way more awards."
Then following it up with, "We can absolutedly applaud her for being educated, unlike some other actresses," but leaving out that she went to Harvard, which is a top "feature" of hers. Of course, Portman actually believes getting into Harvard had nothing to do with her fame, while acknowleding she'd never written even a 5-page paper in high school, but her Harvard degree is still a "big feature" that should not be left out of a comparison.
      9. Even just the order of how he presents the features is always biased. For instance, if he had first stated the perceived drawback of only one feature being programmed for the long-touch (which is the glass half-empty view of seeing a progammable option), then presented the 3 choices for the long-touch, it would've ended with your attention on the fact that Samsung gives you 3 choices. Instead, he ends that feature on the bad note. He does this with consistency againt Samsung on this video.
      10. In fact, he presented a lie about the programmable long-touch by saying you must choose between volume control and using an assistant or pass-through, and he does it very effectively by going into detail when he demonstrates and with bulletpoints that will likely remain emblazoned in people's brains to keep that lie firmly lodge, even after they're told the truth. The fact is that he, AGAIN, "forgot" a brand new feature, which is a 2nd capacitive-touch area on the ege for volume control.
      11. He corrects this error after it's called out, but he doesn't add it to the description, only in a comment, which he doesn't pin to the top, which shows a lack of concern for making sure this wrong that he perpetrated against Samsung is truly righted and seen by all viewers.
      12. Another gross way he disses Samsung is he makes such a huge deal about waterproof rating, even suggesting that sweating too much could be a problem for IPX2, which it absolutely is NOT, but then TOTALLY LEAVES OUT that once you run out of juice,
JUST 3 MINUTES TO RECHARGE FOR AN HOUR MORE OF PLAY and just 15 mintes for 1.7 hours more. This is a game-changer for travellers who get stuck with just a couple minutes to recharge, here and there.
      13. Furthermore, when talking about the Galaxy line, you'd think he'd point out, just to be informative, that both earbud wireless cases could be easily charged via Wireless Power Share on new Galaxy S20 series phones when he brings up the USB-C connector on the case, instead of just saying there are "no other connection options."
      14. But the ABSOLUE WORST way he does Samsung dirty is he waits a full 8 minutes into his review before going into perhaps the most stellar feature, which is HUGE for people like me, which is the fact that HE GOT 13 HOURS OF PLAY ON A SINGLE CHARGE! This is 2 hours more than even the specs say! And once you DOUBLE that with the charge remaining in the case, which he points out as "only one charge", THAT'S 26 HOURS!!! Compared to all other major (and maybe all) brands, 26 HOURS IS A GIGANTIC WIN!
But he BURIES this information well into his fairly negative review--in fact, almost at the END. This is its biggest feature, IMO, and should've been brought up closer to the front, instead of waiting till after as many people as possible drop off the video because of how bad he made them sound.

    Galaxy Buds+ support multi-pairing although they don't support multi-point.
If you want your Buds to connect to another device that paired up with in the past, all you have to do is select Buds from the paired list in settings.
(When a connection is requested from a new device, the connection is switched without MANUAL disconnection the previous device in advance); No Restrictions on Phone models / OS.

I had the Galaxy Buds, upgraded to the Galaxy Buds+. A couple of notes: In the app, there is a "lab" menu that will allow you to set the buds to control volume by tapping the top edge of the right bud to increase, left bud to decrease volume. So my long press on one bud starts Spotify, the other starts Google assistant, and the tap controls are for volume. The ambient sound control is improved with the additional external mic. I happen to like neutral headphones (I own Sennheisers for home listening). They are okay for the sorts of short conversations i generally have, but i did need to switch to the phone in a low reception area.

Do you compare with another pair of tw? Sennheiser?

    • @DamascusHarris
      @DamascusHarris 4 года назад +2

@@rubenc.m4882 No. But full disclosure, I dj and literally have a pair of Bluetooth headphones for every use. The Buds are my "i'm shopping/walking down the street in regular clothes/damn I didn't know I'd be waiting this long" phones. I have a pair of Trelab XR800's for gym workouts, Pioneer SE-MS7BT over the ear bluetooth for when I'm out working on my laptop, Pioneer HDJ 2000's for work (wired), AfterShokz Trek Titanium bone conduction headphones for cycling, Sony XB950BT for when I'm working on my desktop, and Sennheiser HD600 open back cans for tv viewing/gaming/home music listening.
So I really looked at whether the Buds were as good as the wired buds packed in with my Note 10 (they are) and with the Buds+ whether they improved upon that (they do). It's also important to note that I had only recently bought my G-Buds, so I was able to exchange and pay the difference.
Sorry if that's TMI. I just want to contextualize my view. A wider comparison set might be appropriate if your use case is broader than mine.

    • @DamascusHarris
      @DamascusHarris 4 года назад

@@rubenc.m4882 For the record, I'm a big Sennheiser fan and I'm sure their soundstage is waaay better than the Galaxy Buds+, but they are also twice the price. Again, worth it if you have a wider use case.

You mention that if your controlling the volume with the long tap you cannot use the ambient sound and assistant. This can be overcome on the new buds by activating one of the new lab features. Its called double tap earbud edge. This allows you to double tap the edge of the earbud to change volume and free up the long press for any other feature. Also these buds work well with samsung TVs while the previous version was volume limited. This is due to the settings actually being stored on the buds now. What that means is if you want to increase the volume when connected to any other device, you can use the settings you stored when connected to your phone.

I am pretty sure they added a second capacitive surface to the buds+ over the original buds. There is a ring around the edge you can use for volume. Previously if only had the single double and triple touch as well as long press for each. Now there is an extra side ring that you can use for volume control while still being able to toggle ambient or voice assistant.

I know I'm a bit late to the party at this moment, but let me share my two cents: I've had mine for about 2,5 years now and I absolutely love them. I run with them, I dropped them under a train and they still work perfectly. Apart from the battery lasting a week on light to moderate usage and the great sound, nobody seems to talk about the case form factor. The shape and size of the case allows me to slip it into that tiny watch pocket on your pants, freeing up your large pocket for stuff like a wallet or keys with the buds being completely isolated from any potential scratching hazards. The case also has usb-c and wireless charging, so you only need to carry your phone charger around, or if your phone (or car) has wireless charging, then you don't even need a wired one.
So yea. In conclusion, even in 2023 I find these buds to be really good. Plus, as they're really old now, you can get a pair for basically nothing given how good these are, so I would still recommend purchasing these if you don't desperately need functions like ANC and multi device pairing.

Thanks for the great review. I have the GB+ and I do enjoy listening to them. I found the sound comparison with the reference set to be particularly interesting. Please do more of them with other buds. The reference set sounded awesome and I can hear where the GB+ is lacking, but I'm sure the reference headphones cost many times GB+ price. To anyone saying these buds have no sub bass... you must get a 100% perfect seal in ears. When you do, the sub bass is plenty strong and the general balance of lows and highs is also improved. Unfortunately for me, my left ear takes a fair amount of twisting and fiddling to get a perfect seal, unlike my right ear that just pops-in and seals without even trying.

I hate them! :) I bought them as an impulse buy with massive discount. I decided to give them a go as a backup running headphones to keep in the car or office for times when i forget the usual set. I usually use AirPods 2 for that. I connected them and they destroyed all the headphones I currently liked. My beloved wired SONY MDR 1A now sound flimsy and imprecise, the Sony wh1000 xm2 is also not shining and the AirPods almost feel unusable not to mention other sets i use now and then. To be honest, I am really impressed how the buds + sound. It's clean precise and in my opinion punches way above the price. The sound is very balances, bass is present but nor overpowering and really well controlled. The app is good even on iPhone and i believe android is even better. I found out of the box touch controls being not great, and I had to play a lot with silicon buds and frames to make them fit well. They are still not great for running because of a poor fit (for me) but in terms of sound they are fantastic. I would be happy to to find wired earbuds sounding so well, to have such sound in truly wireless is quite an achievement. Well done Samsung.
