    Agreed a higher turn brushed motor would give this a bit better torque and low speed control. The 2 speed will give you back any of the walking/jogging speed lost with a higher turn motor too. You know I'm a proponent for a direct power servo if it's within the budget as it takes the BEC out of the equation. In this case, and with my TRX4, you wouldn't have to worry if the shift servos can handle 7.4V.
    Not putting out any spoilers in the comments but I agree this acts like it's top heavy, and we see that in a couple places. Considering it leans more scale than comp crawler and still has its plastic wheels, this shows quite a bit of potential!

    Craig, you’re the pretty technical guy here on YT.. I’d like to see the use of open diffs on the cars that have this option. Sometimes you gain with open diffs. I usually start any session with open diffs, only lock when it needs or benefits, and unlock as fast as possible again. On many courses, open diffs make the car track better and is more agile…
    Thanks for your splendid videos🤘

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад +2

      That's my preference also, for trail driving. For crawling, the front is more beneficial locked, though I unlock the rear to turn or navigate through obstacles. I do enjoy my remote locking diffs!

    I went with 35kg servo, 100mm(+10mm) dual rate shocks. Gives a lot more droop travel and all the brass, diff guards, center section, portal covers, diff covers. They really love the weight. 3s and wheels and tires of coarse.

    • @TheMathiasmx13

      Also brass servo mount.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад

      Everything about that sounds great - though I don't know I'd be adding more sprung weight with the servo mount. I have no doubt the car runs better with the extra unsprung mass, it's a decent little platform, this. Unexpected from FMS, indeed. I like it!

  • @Casitascrawlers
    @Casitascrawlers 5 месяцев назад +1

    Eventually FMS is supposed to co e out with a separate esc so you can go brushless but still keep all the features. But I’m probably going to install a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster expert. I have the same color as you do & I thought the servo was not bad trailing but I had it out in rocks that the front had to fight through & the servo wouldn’t even turn I thought it went out but I think it just had to cool down. And yes I found out the approach & exit angles are not good the bumpers get caught. But I’m impressed by how well it climbs stock but gotta realize it’s a trail truck which it’s very good at.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад

      That's pretty much the case, yep. Great trail rig that can handle rough stuff. It's really good for that!

  • @doodlepugg
    @doodlepugg 5 месяцев назад +1

    Well despite having initially joking around with you regarding too many things to go wrong on an RC - I went and bought one of these. Apart from it being a pain to pull apart to configure the gearbox for RWD (screws are pretty soft and round VERY easily) I like it. I had a go up on the hills last night for its first proper run and it performed very well. The only real negative I had was when it rolled, it was a nightmare to stop it rolling off down the hill hahaha!
    Eagerly looking forward to seeing your mods and findings! I think I'll add some weight amd keep it fairly standard otherwise. I only run 2s on my stuff as I've found that more than enough and never burn things out. This blazer crawls plenty slow enough on 2s and has enough punch in 2nd gear to not want for more wheel speed 👌

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад +1

      2s is the way to go on this one, I agree. Longer runtime too. Glad you're enjoying the car. We're going to end up with similarly modified vehicles in this case, I think!

  • @brianmassey7563
    @brianmassey7563 5 месяцев назад +2

    The problem with brushed setups isn't that they aren't good enough, it's the cost. For $63 U.S. I can have have a Fusion SE. I think for a good brushed combo with drag brake you'd be hard pressed to beat that, and even if you could then extra few $$ will get you a better, longer lasting, simpler setup.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад +4

      Whilst that's usually true, for this car it'll need a whole new radio system and light controller if you want to go brushless and retain full function. That's the main reason to recommend a good brushed motor in this case.

      I agree that any 2A-BS receiver will work with this radio, but are they available in retail channels, and do any of them not have a built-in ESC? There's limited info about them on FlySky's website and I have yet to find one for this purpose.

    Flysky does have a receiver for the stock transmitter just, in their words "its only available as a companion receiver with a transmitter"... which they dont seem to sell either, i assume its the stock fms transmitter theyre talking about which is also listed but not for sale on their site

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  4 месяца назад +1

      I can't find it for sale anywhere, and I've *looked*. This is what was meant by my comment. Obviously there's an Rx for the stock transmitter - we're using one in the truck! But getting hold of another is not (yet) doable, it seems. Hopefully, that changes, as they're a decent little handset. Cheers

    • @MAJ_T_Bagger
      @MAJ_T_Bagger 4 месяца назад +1

      @RCTNT yea, I'd like to keep the stock unit aswell haha. I meant they've got a standalone receiver aswell, not a combo unit. Really want to go brushless later on with mine but don't want to get yet another transmitter to do so 😅 sadly none of my current ones have enough channels. Have got a dumborc fzd light unit aswell just incase. FS-R11P-BS is the receiver but yea, not available anywhere. Messaged them and got no response but saw on a forum someone else got the response of it only being a companion receiver with transmitter. Currently I'm adding all the injora parts and finding a few issues, waiting on the fms locker covers too.

    • @RCTNT

      @MAJ_T_Bagger locker covers seem important, agreed. I've got a set here ready for the upgrade video. Just waiting on Pricey for my shocks.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад +1

      Oh no! That's a bummer man. Well, the good news is the front can stay locked once you pull it apart and stick a spacer in it some how. You won't miss it. The rear one matters more, IMO.
      Thanks for letting me know. It's a silly design, isn't it.

    • @doodlepugg
      @doodlepugg 5 месяцев назад +1

      For sure. I haven't tested it yet, but it appears to be staying locked. I have replacements on order as well as guards from FMS (shouldn't be an optional part IMO, they obviously know it's going to get broken if they offer their own guards for it...) they aren't cheap, but I believe they're weighted so I'll let you know how they are when they arrive.

      That's a tough one. They're quite similar, functionally. I think I like the RGT better but it's close! Maybe buy on body preference. The only other thing to note is the RGT can be upgraded more easily, as it has a standard DumboRC radio system, while the FMS has an integrated esc/rx unit.

    Man there’s so many things wrong with stock rigs shock setups right up there with electronics…thjng is add brass and Beadlocks, servo fails, do bunch of tech crawling and the drag break and punch start effecting performance.
