First off I’ve been a subscriber for quite a while. Because out of all the tiny truck, RUclipsrs, you give the most useful information. And I would just like to personally thank you. There is just a wealth of information on your channel.
Impressive to see the shocks and tire combo working so well. If memory serves, it did one or two more problems than* before but the composure it has on the rocks now is greatly improved. A good demonstration of why so many comp oriented people like Pricey's shocks 👍
Oh right! That makes more sense, I'd expect it to be better now than before! My memory is generally awful for events (good for numbers and tech though, go figure), but yes, this makes much more sense!
Good to see some more time spent on the Fcx10 as they are seemingly becoming a more popular and cheaper option than the Trx4. It was really interesting to see how the car behaved after installing the better wheels/tires and foams aswell as the Pricey's shocks..what a massive improvement! Keep up the great vids 🤘🤘
Yeah thanks, I'm pretty happy with it now, and not a bit of usual brass has been added!... Yet. A little up front will probably improve it a bit more, but it's rather good as it is now! Cheers
Boy, that's a great looking truck! The shocks, wheels, and tires really improved the looks of the truck. I like the "air downed" look of the tires as well. It looks ready to hit the trails. The shocks are amazing. Such an improvement! Plus they look great. Priceys for the Win! Thanks a bunch and Take Care!
Came up nicely, eh! And the impressive thing is it hasn't got a lick of brass under it and yet it's still performing like a boss now. Came up good eh! Cheers
Great vid my dude! Love those forced semi droop shocks! I did that with my scx10.3 100mm shocks with the pen spring forced semi droop mod. Great stuff my dude 👍🏻😁. Of course those pricey’s are fine tuned compared to the hope it works well concept of the pen spring mod.
Haha yes! The pen spring is the budget version, but I understand Pricey tunes for the sprung and unsprung weight while also matching coil lengths for appropriate ride height. It's the same idea, but with experience and skill behind the choices - which is what you're really paying for with these. Rock on though, what you've got is still better than most! Cheers
Kinda just pulled it off first go, smooth and pro, eh. (The little laugh after that was totally not incredulity and definitely and only confident, self-assurance. Ahem.)
This is another great video and anyone with one of these trucks needs to watch it. The articulation with the shocks is very impressive. It's a beautiful looking truck. As I was watching this video it struck me that this is like some of the cooking videos. You present a recipe for more success with this crawler. I enjoy your explanation as I do many of the r/c videos. My next comment doesn't mean I don't enjoy listening to you. Your explanations are vital. Many RUclips chefs prepare a recipe or meal with no dialogue, just closed captioning. Would it be possible for any of you r/c RUclipsrs to do a brief build using closed captioning with music on the background? For example, right now Horizon and Tower have Base Camp builders kit on sale for $200. It's probably a stupid idea. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I appreciate it. The thing with RUclips is you grow an audience and the algo learns about your video content from how audience interacts with with. Over time, an 'ideal audience' profile is developed and honed. That's great if your videos are consistently a certain style/content/delivery/etc., but then a big change like a long-form, non-verbal build video may be a flop with the majority of that audience. The video doesn't get widely shown and then subsequent videos face a steeper hill to getting decent viewership. That said, experiments are worthwhile and I still experiment with different formats and styles semi-regularly. I'll consider doing this for one of the kits I have here, like perhaps the Cross RC EMO XT4 that's been here in a box for entirely too long! Thanks :)
@@RCTNT I know that one RUclipsr experimented with a different format and subject and lost subscribers. One of my favorite r/c RUclipsrs did a recent video about robotic lawnmower that works like a Roomba. I thought it would be a waste of my time. It was great and he always makes them fun. Some people just don't like change. People are fickle. What shocked me with the cooking videos the lady chef has over a million subscribers. Obviously, you know what works and what doesn't. Senior citizens like myself think they have a lot of good ideas, which is not always true.
@michaeldorich4485 oh i think it's a great idea. I'll give it a go. Past build videos have not done well, but I've been speaking during them. That might be a worthwhile difference to make, I'll see!
I'm with you love the fat tire air down look I have a set of those in 2.2 with the original memory foams they work great, the antenna placement is different in the states it would go on the back bumper, great vid the shocks work a treat. thanks for sharing.
Great update Craig! Interesting to see it with a semi-comp setup! I think I'll definitely adopt similar tyres/wheels but maintain the stock suspension for the bouncy long travel look & feel. My personal update: The truck is an absolute tank. I've put my poor blazer through absolute hell. As has everyone else I've let have a go (poor mechanical sympathy, full speed gear changes etc.) It has survived so many huge tumbles down hills, off rocks, onto rocks, skids on its side to self-right etc. It's a shame you couldn't get hold of the FMS brass diff covers, they are brilliant looking and survived every bit of abuse thrown at them. Honestly I think they should be included stock. The Achilles heel is definitely the bumpers, especially the rear dragging. I've adjusted my light setup so that slight movement on the light swivel switch turns only the front lights on, full movement turns front + rear. I've also added reverse lights as it's all there ready to accept them. I have disconnected the indicators though haha! With regards to speed, 7.4v's are bob on for the stock setup and for forest crawling/trailing the drag brake is plenty in low gear. Thanks for sharing your development, it's awesome to watch 😎
@@RCTNT I've also got a hefty servo mounted on the chassis with the same linkage. It hasn't negatively affected the steering and it's performing brilliantly. After a little more experience across a few different platforms, I appreciate the Blazer more and more. It truly is a tough little beast, plenty capable of a range of driving.
@@RCTNT I'm thinking of getting my boy something to tag along with the blazer - he currently runs an FTX Carnage with a hobbywing ez run kit in it - it's a little bananas but again has survived a LOT of abuse. It's just a little mis-matched when I use the blazer hahaha! I was contemplating the RGT pickup which you did some great things with (pioneer?) I can't think of anything else at that price point which is as tough and capable, any thoughts?
@doodlepugg redcat Gen8 v2 would be the other choice, if the price is similar. But the Pioneer is a decent budget rig and modding it is very cheap and rewarding, yes. Maybe also the Axial deadbolt and element Enduro SE.
Really nice Craig… I went kinda the other way I did the Traxxas/ slash 12 turn (definitely highway speeds) and went with the TRX4 82034 shocks and the truck amazes me every time I take it out. Oh and it has every option that injora offers.

Well they're both limiting factors, really. As are link mount points and shock mount points. Axle castor angle too. Easy to understand but can be difficult to get it all in harmony! Pricey's shocks make it a lot easier.
IMO it's pretty good value, especially compared to the TRX4 - but the Traxxas has preminence as it was the first to do a "full fat" crawler and its drivetrain is very strong. The RGT Rescuer was rightfully popular and now yikong have come along with similar offerings too, but the FMS FCX10 here is an excellent choice. Cheers

FMS FCX10 K5 Blazer for scale. Element RC Ecto for performance (the entire Element range is the Enduro platform, with different front and rear ends, and different bodies and tires). RGT Pro Runner for value. RGT Pioneer for budget capability.
Ecto is best performer, though more basic in features and body than the others. It's the best technical crawler. FMS if you like remotely lockable diffs and/or the style of body better. Great value for money. Pro Runner if you like the body better and prefer straight axles. Quite a tough car, too.

The FCX10 is good in stock form, but the tire/foam/wheel plus Pricey's shocks combo is killer. The rig is really, really good. Depends what you want from it, really. There are some awesome used deals that come up from time to time in the local trading groups. Element Ecto is a performer. FMS FCX10 K5 Blazer is a worthy scale trail rig, as is the Redcat Gen8 v2. Part of the problem is I don't know what's good in USA for USD. American brands are expensive in Australia, while Chinese brands are really quite attractive. The RGT Rescuer, for example, is a brilliant rig. But if the budget is about AUD$550/USD$300, the Ecto is still the way to go. If it sells for that kind of money new in USA, grab one. If in Australia, wait for an ebay 17% off sale and you'll get one on budget then.
@RCTNT I'm in the UK, my last few crawler purchases have all been FTX. I'm impressed with they're latest Outback models - Trooper, Centaur & Tracker. Theres a few Vanquish models that tickles my fancy but they're outside my budget at the moment. I'm currently looking at the Cross FR4 kit, looks v nice
It can be done, though you'll need to be creative with mounting. If you look at my Traxxas Long Arm Lift Kit video you can see one way of getting a winch mounted on a shallow bumper with minimal room. For this rig I think maybe a servo winch would be the way to go. Then you just need a fairlead on the front and you're done.
Thanks. I know there's plenty of brass available for it, but I wanted to show how performance can be improved in ways other than adding a bunch of mass (though a little on the knuckles would help it some more, I agree). Cheers
