I like the longer form of this video with all of the rambling left in and I’d like to see you do more videos like this. Your dog certainly seemed entertained with the car and I was entertained watching her chase it. Good stuff!
We need to see that MK07, RLAARLO! Hey, thanks for the shootout @ 8:15! 😃 I've been totally spoiled with you getting up to three rally cars in the channel in the past few months... "and more coming", as you claim! It'd seem the empty box was for an earlier iteration having a light module. But Rlaarlo eventually moved it to the body ceiling for cable management simplicity? Edit: read it's for the eventual full size servo that would make you lose the other receiver box. A step ahead, for the upgrade[d servo] bunch... but I wonder if the design of the receiver box couldn't have been made to being relocated, using only a single unit, instead of having to make two... Just a thought! Loved the long chat and suspension discussion. You should do them more often. As you say, many of us, close to you thanks to the channel, we do enjoy these, and it's as close as a straight convo we can get =) Car seems to drive fine. I'm particularly impressed by its lack of grip rolling, and how well it did on the short-ish grass (I expected it to get stuck and roll, and basically didn't at all!). But I'm positive the one who enjoyed it the most from seeing it running was Lana! I did miss a bit you not testing it on the smooth gravel you tested the Datsun. I'd say that's the ideal setup to test these... especially as the XV01 seems to be coming around the corner... Maybe if there's that requested rally car comparison video, some day! Get well soon, my friend!!
Thanks Jorge. Yeah that gravel is a 3 hour return drive. I'll find something similar that's a bit closer, when I drive these and compare them! I have one or two rally cars to look at, yet. And I want to run them on various surfaces, maybe in the same video. Thinking about possibilities anyway! And yeah, it's a bit baffling they didn't lose the front rx box completely and just put the radio in the rear one. Dunno why they did this but hey, extra parts for tinkering doesn't hurt! Options!
A most excellent and thorough review Craig! I just ordered this one last night and I’m very excited about it. I really want that mk2 Datsun as well and was having a really difficult time on which I should get first. I miss Rlaarlo sending me stuff, but since I’ve taken a step away from my RUclips rc channel, I’ve no reason to expect anything to come in for free😝 in exchange for an honest review from them. That being said, Rlaarlo has always tried very hard to listen to all of us “ product influencers” feedback. They do very well at improving their product and listening to customer concerns. The fact that they have “loosely” copied a specific design for a body with out licensing doesn’t really bother me too much and I try to look at it in a way that is paying homage to a very cool design. It’s not a 100% rip off of Rossi’ car or a ford fiesta, but it leaves me feeling happy that it’s pretty close, and good enough for me. Plus it saves me money not having an “exact licensed copy. You mentioned the HBToys R1001 rc which I also own and highly recommend. They do not 100% copy Traxxas’ Trx4 , but changed enough of it to obviously see that it was inspired by Traxxas. As for the body, again, subtle differences in its grille and markers , as well as lack of certain traits show what it’s trying to make you feel like you have , but is definitely something different in fact. In the R1001 they leave out the optional locking front and rear diffs and keep their representation fully locked. It’s a very good rig, and if you have been offered one for review, I highly recommend you try one. I purchased mine, and have been very happy with it. Anyway, sorry for the ultra long comment my friend. Keep up the great content. Making decent content is not always easy and I know how very time consuming it can become. Thank you for your commentary and awesome and interesting content! Till next time! 🙌😎👋🍻💯
I've seen a lot of videos in the past 24hrs, yours sir is a gem! All the others are just bashing at skate parks or on real big gravel, loving your ramblings your explanations. This video more than the other has sold it to me pulling the trigger and going for the carbon. So thanks from the UK
Oh nice! It was a bit of an experiment to leave this one longer length, but it seems to be coherent enough without feeling like it's dragging, so I'll take the win! Glad it was useful to you 😊
I just got spares delivered for my XDKJ-005 and it's over 2 years old. What parts are you worried about in particular? Rlaarlo has a well stocked catalog to support all their current and previous models..
I'll be honest, I don't know the answer to your question besides preparation I guess. But, I can tell you from doing my own video, this car beat our 6s Mojave, Traxxas rally, MJX 10208, Rival MT8 and the MJX rally car rather easily. It's a good car, plain and simple.
@@Rek_Rc Come on man. Rlaarlo rally car better than Mojave 6s? I would want to see how reliable this is within 12 months. The Mojave 6s is a tank and can take a beating. Lastly I'm glad this said said he hates the word influencer because it’s extremely over used and thrown around. You guys are content digital creators
$249 USD isn't the cheapest but you get a LOT of bang for your money, I knew you'd like it. I saw tomley's review yesterday and he's in love too. I think dirty pavement with some loose dirt sections is where it would shine.
You're doing something truly remarkable by sharing so much valuable expertise with the community. Your insights and knowledge are not only inspiring but also incredibly helpful to so many people. Keep up the fantastic work-you’re making a real difference! 🙌
Great vid. Could have done with you as a teacher at school when i was a lot younger. I might have listened more in class. Keep up the great videos. Keep well in mind. 😁
Awesome video,I know I say that about all your videos but you do an incredible job on your videos. You have become my favorite rc you tuber. Your reply to my last comment about the fazor rally car saved me from doing a power point presentation on why I need another. My wife thought it was great. Now I can't decide if I should get the fazor rally or the rllarlo rally. I love these "chat" videos. Keep up the great work, thank you for the information and entertainment. All the best to you and your family
Thank you, I love getting feedback like this! Hm, well, the one that speaks to you most might be the best choice. The Fazer will take a beating, but can you do that to the pretty body? The Rlaarlo would be the better basher, but neither are really ideal for that. Good luck with the decision. Surely not easy!
The video is very long and good! I have watched it! Thanks for the feedback! We will strengthen the optimization of each new product and innovate every time! There have been a lot of criticisms in the past few years, which I think is everyone's expectation of RLAARLO. We will continue to maintain our passion and see you in the next new product!
Thank you. Love your work, I'm a huge fan. Keep improving, you're doing the kind of work many others fear to do. Innovation moves the whole hobby forward. Thank you. PS. Your new Mk07 with FOC would interest and delight my large crawling audience. It would get a fair and measured review here and would be included in future comparisons too. Please, consider having Annie send me a unit for review. I'll give it the attention it deserves! Thank you and all the best with your next launch. -Craig
Really enjoyed the video and the ramblings. Mental health is a real thing. Thanks for being so open and honest about personal stuff and also honest review. I’ve been in and out of the hobby since the mid 80’s myself so I can relate on a couple levels. Keep up the great work. Thanks
Good chat, review, and run! It was nice to see you in the live stream as well. I'm glad you realize how good the Fazer R is, even though it's a brushed setup. The Rlaarlo is an overall better car for the price, but the Kyoshos have a few things going for them in their own right. Like clear windows and licensed bodies, but I understand Rlaarlo does a variation to keep cost down.
For sure! Tell you what, the Fazers really are amazing cars. Nothing wrong with brushed when it's used in the right application, and the Fazers are perfect for this. Doesn't feel underwhelming at all. The Gorgon is the same, actually.
@@RCTNT Yep.. I have done no performance mods to mine and it drives just fast enough to get into trouble, and the suspension is so realistic. I actually just added a gyro to mine and going out in a bit to test performance on a dry tarmac surface with some aftermarket wheels. It really doesn't need it, but like you pointed out.. the gyro can react much quicker than we can & it makes for better sliding shots 👍
I appreciate the detail you did on this video it's the best run through of it & I got a better idea about the car then any other review I've had the Carbon Terminator since it first came out I had pre ordered mine. I take it out all the time & it's one of my favorites. I've been looking at Rally cars for awhile & I'm glad I waited I'm definitely going to get it & it will be my third Rlaarlo I also have the buggy or baby Lazernut & I also have the Losi Lazernut which makes taking the two out an absolute blast. Thank you again for the review. I hope you do a review of the new FMS 1/10 scale Land cruiser.
Thanks for the feedback and for the info. I was sorry to miss the omni terminator for review, but even more so now! I've not watched anything about it, but if it's the same platform as this, I bet it's a ripper!
love the video... fyi I added a center diff to my Senton 3S V3 after finding out the 4S Mojave's center diff would mount in mine... took a little work but the little trophy truck is way more stable at speed in the turns. I also replaced its rx with 1 that included a gyro. Pretty sure that rally is quicker but mine suddenly became so much more fun.
Oohhohohhohoo! That dog is really flying! So funny as it was to look, two doggos would be better, came to my mind. Im sure that its been taken care of, so trying to simply enjoy that headless hopping! 😂 (oh, the car, was... Good, I suppose?)
Well, I waited for your review, before making my mind up. Watched a few of my other favorite reviewers, and it's all unanimous, it's great, you gotta buy one, etc....But I trust the one guy who gives RGT's their fair shake! I went the RGT, instead of Traxxas route, because of finances(retired on SS). Watching your reviews on them solidified my choice as an upgradeable competitor. Getting back to Rlaarlo, I liked the video, although you could you could use some lessons on hard driving from Derby RC! Lol Good review, of course. Almost went with the carbon one, but just having bought a car recently, I figured I stood a better chance keeping my relations good with the wife, if I just bought the roller, since I have a few motors and ESC's around. Hope you still get some kind of kickback, because it's not a complete car. After looking on the website, I also liked the idea that the body is still clear. I'll get to personalize it right off the bat, and it won't look like the thousand others being sold today. Keep up the good content.
Heh fair enough. I'll bash the snot out of a basher, but I think it's more fair to drive a rally car like a rally car! Though it didn't surprise me at all that this thing will take heavy abuse - it'd be a shame to ruin the body, but it's a solid platform. (Between you and me, the roller is the one to get. I'm tempted to grab one too! Good choice!)
Thank you for your informative videos, I always find my self power down a rally rc for more realism . Because of that I may choose the Kyosho , I have a (XTM x crawler) for 20 years. I would be happy if you reviewed that old school platform. Keep it up 🙂
Nice you got one too... Already seen a few video's from this car. Dont have 10th rally or rally at all, but from what i've seen this might be the best "out off the box" performing 10th scale... Selling some stuff at moment but this one i would like to buy and at to the collection...
It's a brilliant model, that's for sure. Hope your sales go well, and yeah, the proceeds wouldn't be wasted on a car like this. It's really, really good!
The box where the receiver is in, is a combined receiver box and holder for the steering servo. There's an optional servo holder for the use of a full-size steering servo and you'll therefore loose the receiver box. You can then place the receiver in the empty second box.
Great review thank you. I’m very impressed and interested in this rally car. The new Cen puma rally is out soon. Bigger scale tho but will be difficult to decide which one to buy. Love your dog. Think she enjoyed chasing the Rlaarlo 😂
Cen Puma is interesting, yeah! I'm also interested in the MST 1:8 platform that released this year. Don't know if I'll be able to get the Cen here this year, but the MST is looking likely.
@ MST is new to me. Just google it 😀. Looks like a great platform. Not sure if MST is available in the uk or if it’s under a different name. The rally cars seem to becoming popular. Looking forward to your next video 👍🏼
I'm unlikely to get the Omni Terminator done, given the backlog of vehicles already here and that Rlaarlo skipped me for several vehicles after an email misunderstanding (no-one's fault, a single email didn't go through from me for whatever reason and they thought I was no longer interested in their vehicles - d'oh!). But I'll be looking at the new buggy, that's already in process, yep!
Another great production, Craig. I enjoyed the ‘chat’ aspect and how you review the enjoyment / ownership aspect on top of the technical information highlights. @RC-TNT I’d be happy for you to use my Omni Terminator for a review if you feel inclined. I’m Sydney based.
That's very kind of you, thank you! I'll politely decline, but I do appreciate it. I suspect Vas and I may swap some cars here and there for mutual benefit at some point, though for now my list of waiting cars here is as long as my arm! Glad you enjoyed this one 👍
I am glad you're feeling better. I had friend that got Covid it was sick for two weeks. This is another excellent review. You did an extremely thorough explanation. This is the fourth video I have watched on this car. Everyone has said it handles well. Two of the reviewers claimed it shares many similarities with the Omni Terminator. I have seen one complaint and that was Rlaarlo used red thread lock on the pinion set screw. I know you're extremely busy, but I encourage you to watch Discipline RC's review. He put the car through hell. He broke the side body connectors and knocked out the tail lights. He took it through all kinds of water. The title of his review is 10th Scale RC Perfection. I enjoyed yourbdetailed coverage of the car and your dog chasing the car. Thanks for another great review. I think one of the reviewers said Rlaarlo. is spelled out in tire tread.
Thanks, yeah I said it was repeated in the tire tread, in this video! I briefly chatted with Discipline RC yesterday on the XTS release live stream. I heard about his exploits! I didn't want to punish this car like I would if it was in monster truck form, which I've heard is basically the omni terminator, with longer a-arms but otherwise this same chassis. That sounds like a properly decent vehicle!
@@RCTNT It's a very tempting car. It's not very often that you see so much universal agreement. If you have any connections you can let them know they don't need red thread lock.
@@RCTNT I just learned from Dario RC Garage that the diffs are different in the metal version and carbon version. The carbon version has spiral gears. If you mentioned that ignore my post.
@michaeldorich4485 they're also a lower grade of metal. I referenced that in the video but didn't expand on it, beyond saying the gears are better in this and the roller, over the metal version.
Tip - You will never forget if something is km/hr or mph if you keep things consistent. I know of clickbait channels that use mph for 99.99% of the time except when they do speed runs then they switch to km/hr because they want to post a bigger number.
I'm metric all the way, but mph was relevant to my USA-heavy audience. I don't usually forget things like this, but it's been a minute since I tinkered with these cars!
Arrma Infraction for on-road and, hmm... For off-road it's so hard to choose. Tekno and Hobao vehicles here are amazing, and the Losi TT is also sublime to drive. And then there's the whole monster truck and large scale truggy scene. How do you even choose from all that?! 2 second instant pick, I'll take the Tekno SCT410 2.0, but I'll regret not picking one of the many other excellent options!!
Mate, I watched a 50 minute video that was waffle on the XTS, this was great information from start to finish, even explaining things I knew was worth watching. I went off the car when the release price was US$50 more than the OT, and given the limitations of a jack of all trades, master of none vehicle, but you might have me back on board again. Rlaarlo have some issues that I would love for them to resolve, like sealed bearings rather than shielded, standardising screws more and using better quality hardware, but I might be happy enough to put up with them given the experience their cars can offer, the OT is a great fun car. I have two Fazors, the Datsun 240Z in both street and rally formats, beautiful models as well as functional RC cars. I looked at the MK-07 but it's over NZ$1000 and I can't get it here anyway, the FCX10 might be an issue getting here also, what I can get is a Yikong Rubicon YK4102 Pro which doesn't look too bad, it's my entry into crawling. You are one of only a few youtubers I find worth the watch, keep doing great work sir.
Thank you! (I've just considered buying the mk07 again this morning. From Ali, I can get it for AUD$996 delivered, incl. tax etc. I've sent a final, plaintive email to rlaarlo to reconsider sending me one for review, and pending their response, I'm going to think hard about buying it anyway). The Fazers are brilliant, yeah. And I noticed shielded rather than sealed bearings after I got off camera, yeah - such a minor thing that should not be like this! Overall though, the value is pretty epic here!
@@RCTNT Mate, they need to give you one as your review could do much for them. I just got a heap of bearings delivered last week for all my Rlaarlo cars, an easy and cheap fix for them. They've a few issues need sorting and myself and others tell them this on FB in the Rlaarlo groups, I do hope they eventually action remedies for our concerns. I also wish they'd install the upgrades in the cars and charge a little more for them, if you get them all yourself it near doubles the price of the car. And you'd think they'd want to present the best car they can to customers, why even have the alloy option in my opinion, just sell the carbon versions. Thanks for your response Craig, why is it the best reviewers are also really good with their viewers? No coincidence I'm sure, just really good blokes. Do you think that Yikong is a good option for a newbie to crawling? Or for anyone really. Thanks again mate, see you on your next release.
I agree on the carbon comment, I've thought this regularly when their new stuff drops. Hm, is the 4106 Pro a good first crawler? Yes, with two caveats: it's not a great rock crawler, though a decent little trail rig it is, and, I haven't looked at any other yikong model yet (and I hear they're pretty good). If you're considering hundreds but not thousands, and want to buy it right the first time with room for upgrades later, and you think trailing will be primary and crawling secondary (I'm inferring this), consider these: - Cross RC EMO AT4/JT4/NT4 (RTR and kits available) - FMS FCX10 Blazer (AliExpress for the win) - RGT Rescuer (and maybe the Challenger V2, it's nearly here for review, and also the 136100 Pro, also nearing delivery here - both look interesting) - TRX4 kit with BYO electronics - even the Sport would be great with a decent servo and a Fusion 1800 - Element Ecto, even better with a Fusion for decent high and low speed From any of those, you'll have a long lasting and capable rig with plenty of room to upgrade when you're ready.
@@RCTNT I do like that new FCX10 Toyota, but getting one here might be an issue. I think I can get the Blazer? I had seen the RGT Rescuer. Not a fan of Traxxas due to how they operate as a company, maybe I can ignore that and make an exception here? I'll look into the Element and the Cross sounds good, like a build kit too, hadn't really heard of those. Thank you so much for the advice, I shall look into those. I might just wait till you've done those upcoming reviews? Sincerely appreciate the advice from one of the best in the business, and your time.
My pleasure. I'll have the FCX10 LC80 up soon, but the blazer is a full featured rig and if you get around to doing the mods I recently showcased on its upgrade video, you'll see how good it get before you even add any brass! It's very good. But yes, any of these are going to be solid choices. Given the 136100 Pro has an FOC system, it possibly represents the best value for money, if you can get it where you are. But yes, reviews are coming. I'm crazy busy but the aim is to increase my cadence from weekly back to 5 days or so again, if I can manage it. I have enough content here to do a daily video for the rest of the year, but it's time I'm short on! Thanks for the chat, cheers
Is your doggo a Vizsla? Seeing her chase that car around brought tears to my eyes. Our V passed away a year ago and she used to run around chasing my cars in the back yard, brought back lovely memories. They are such great dogs and their energy can be both inspiring and exhausting!
I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️ Yeah she's a Viz. Actually the second on this channel; for RC-TNT's first year, to the day, you can often see Tully with me. She was my last Vizsla and was a relation of Lana here. Tully was a character, very gentle, and loved to run - but always stayed in an orbit of me, even out in the bush. Vizslas love being with their people, always always, as you'd know. They're just the best dogs. Difficult for ownership given their intensity and time needed to train, but so very rewarding. I wasn't ready for another one for 18+ months after Tully passed. Lana isn't 1 year old yet. She's a sweetie!
@@RCTNT Thanks and likewise to you w/ Tully. Ours died almost exactly a year ago suddenly at 12, she was an anxious dog, but a wonderful companion of ours and we did everything with her. It's been a hard year without her, she accompanied us everywhere and was such a happy, fun dog. She loved to chase my trucks around the back yard and it's one of the ways we gave her ways to run and manage energy, she loved it! It was a flashback seeing Lana chase this car around, she looks so happy like ours did, a great memory brought back so thanks for that and the review. We have a 6 month old GSP now and she's a massive ball (55lbs!) of energy herself, so we started over again also somewhat recently, but not without struggle.
I understand. 55lb hey, wow. Gonna be a tad bigger than your last dog!! Saying goodbye is just pain. But the time we're lucky to have with them is abundantly worth that dark time at the end. And talking about them keeps them with us, too. The pain makes the love and happier times sweeter. One of those paradoxes of life as we know it, I guess.
Sorry, I was wrong. No code. But the price is right, for what you get. I think they really could have asked another hundred for it and it'd still be very decent value.
@ Thanks for confirming that I’m not going nuts 😜 It’s an impressive beast that’s for sure. I’m torn between that and the Omni Terminator as I already have an MJX 14303 Citroen rally car which scratches my itch for small scale drifting. Decisions, decisions!! Keep up the good work 👍
@Ddraig62SPD oh, yeah, that'd be hard. I've just bought one of those, too. After the recent MJX video I realised it'd be amazing in rally guise. So, that's how that happened 😅
Oh wow! I've got the buggy on the way but I haven't learned anything about it yet (intentionally), as I want to share that experience with you guys, on camera. But now I know it's based on the same platform, I'm properly excited for it. This will be epic!
23:11 speaking about differentials and centre diff, with an open diff it doesn't help with your speed because all the power will be going to the wheel without traction. It does help immensely with control, but not so much for performance. Now to be "one of those guys" what would be a game changer is if you could adjust the bias f/r so the vehicle could get more power to the front wheels and? yes, here I go again, a limited slit diff at each axle and f/r. That would be truly a work of art for performance. Imagine how fast you could go if one wheel looses traction, the energy of the motor is applied to wheels WITH traction. Now here's a thought to put the whammy on your brain: since r/c cars use the electric motor for braking, having open diffs on each axle AND a f/r diff, would that mean the wheel with traction wouldn't get any braking force from the motor or would it get ALL the braking force? that's one for you to ponder hehehe. (I see craig laying in bed, goddamn that mike and posing these scenarios hahaha).
Okay, you might be right, but you also might not be. Here's my thinking behind this: an open diff can help with speed, because if you have a locked center and 50% drive going to each end, losing traction in a wheel means you're still giving the same throttle to the other axle, and the likelihood of other wheels also now breaking traction potentially increases. Middle diff means the 'drive' can kinda wash around between the wheels. While a wheel with lowest traction will slip first, your other wheels are not being jolted to unload, resulting in a smoother transfer of power, and more speed. The compromise is to put thicker fluid in the middle diff, giving you something akin to an LSD. Also thicken the rear, but not quite as much. And depending on surface, go light on the front (loose surfaces) or really, really heavy (high grip surfaces). Tuning is endlessly complex and what works for one car may be a disaster for another! -- Brain-whammy thought: if there are wheels without traction, motor braking won't work. It'll be the same as throttle. But that's too singularly dimensional. Why? Because once you're off throttle, weight transfer changes what wheel/s may have traction, and as you brake, there'd presumably be moments where there's sufficient grip on the front wheels that braking would be effective. As the vehicle slows, grip increases, and suddenly now you're braking. That'd probably all happen within just a moment, so that initial zero-braking effect may not even be noticed! My thinking on it anyway :p
@@RCTNT I was wrong once before, but I was mistaken! (hehehe) You've got a point on all counts, there are pros and cons for all and yes, you can "create" a lsd using thicker fluid, but the issue with that is it's lsd all the time. What's great about a true LSD is that it only occurs when 1 wheel has lost traction and is spinning.
I'm with you, but thick fluid also effectively will take effect only when a wheel loses traction. It'll still allow differential speeds for any kind of cornering. I'm making this up, but simulating it mentally yields a nearly indiscernible result either way. What do you reckon? Would they really be that different in practice?
@@RCTNT No, the thicker fluid limits the differential action all the time. A true limited slip only engages when 1 wheel on the axle loses traction. It locks the diff using a centrifugal type clutch plate. The beauty about true LSD is that it applies the energy to move the vehicle to the wheels that have traction. This is why a centre LSD would work great because when you start off, and the weight is distributed to the rear wheels and they start spinning, the diff will transfer energy to the front wheels until traction is equalized to all 4 wheels. Land Rover, Porsche Caymans, Mercedes all use electronics in their vehicles. They have electronic diffs that sense which wheel has traction and provides power to that wheel 1M times a second.
@muskokamike127 no I understand that. I mean, functionally in an RC model, would it be so different between stiff diff fluid and an actual lsd? I really don't know if you'd notice the difference.
@@RCTNT least you know how to get her her daily exercise without you having to go running down the road beside her! You can sit in a lawn chair and run an r/c around the yard until she's tuckered out! 🙂
Not really being an RC Car guy, I usually fly Drones, Wings, Planes and so on but this one looks excellent and I have ordered it. The Idea is to put an HD FPV System on it and I think it will be awesome. For this Price I can get a Tamiya Monster Beetle or a Traxxas E-Revo or similar. Even a Sand Scorcher would be more Expensive and this is just on a completely different level. Can't wait to give it a rip around. Love how excited your dog is :-)
10:35 Suspension: I see KT and Tomley use thicker shock oil to stiffen up the suspension. This is so wrong and makes me cringe. You want to stiffen up the suspension you use stiffer springs. Oil in the shock is only meant to dampen the bounce of the spring, not to control the stiffness or slow down compression. The set screws are really just a cheap and easy way to adjust ride height. The proper way would be to have shorter springs or adjust the spring travel on the barrel of the shock. You are 100% right though, if you're running on pavement and don't want to have to keep swapping springs when you go to dirt, the set screws are a great alternative. I could see this thing being a complete blast on a paved track with sand and dirt in some sections added for "realism"
Coming soon ruclips.net/user/shorts4q8rv0TzMh0?feature=share And my mini is already a national level proven platform: rc-tnt.com/project/rc-tnt-ht-feather-chassis-for-utb18-v2-36/
had they licensed this car officially, the price would be about $200 more and most people that are getting into the hobby and who could get this one are getting a quality product...the same people wouldn't spend the extra on this if it were more expensive just because of the stickers. I'm one of these, I love officially licensed stuff too...but i this is my first 1/10 because it's made well, high quality, and gorgeous, I don't care about the "official stickers"
Sure, it isn't about the cost so much as the principle. There's a strong and reasonable case to make for both sides of this discussion, I think. Thanks for weighing in.

They are starting to show how all the big brands are ripping off everyone. They make you buy extras like swaybars and centre diffs. Traxxas doesn't even include fans, lol Team associated was good, but they are falling behind with the clipless and deans connecters. Mt10 was great, but they increased the price. Now, people will just buy the Vorteks. The fact that the centre diff was the reason many got the MT10, including me.
Remember, all companies and brands are for profit. These are not charities. Rlaarlo is making a killing from these cars. Longevity is the real question with them.
Interesting, you could be right, there. Though there is a little more complexity to the situation, in that the established companies have networks in the West (generalising, obviously), with marketing, sponsorships, dealer networks and employees to sustain. This goes some way to explain the higher pricing. Cheap labour makes China very difficult to compete with on price, so then you look at other elements to the market and consider how you might do something better that people want. Simple to articulate but difficult to address!
Haha yes, the hourly rate is abysmal for the vast majority of youtubers. I'm not in it for the money, but a car and some ad revenue doesn't hurt! (though I still keep ad breaks to a minimum)
So if i want in the UK i have to get it shipped here? Anyone done this sort of thing before do i have to pay customs?and if so how much extra will it end up being on top
21:51 I bet at least one cat who's an excellent rc driver feel insulted 😄 This really seems like a good one, might have to get one despite the dreadful EU VAT
I meant no disrespect to my fellow feline hobbyists 😻 Even if this thing cost half its price more again, the would be there, in comparison to what else is out there. If you get it, I think you'll be a happy owner - the main thing is to be aware of its limitations where bashing is concerned. Gosh it handles nicely though!
I've just let her go with it here, but she is already able to be calm around crawlers. Desensitisation with repeated exposure, and treats for being quiet and leaving it alone. She'll get it quickly enough!
Why not stay for the chat? We went on a bit of an adventure about the hobby in this one! Hopefully it's a bit different to the others you've watched! Hope the rest of your shift goes fast and smoothly 👍
The way I see it ,bro,as to this copyright, patient ,marklarky, ( I actually know someone who,s surname is marklarky 🤣🤣) anyways, traxas put people out business, e.g helion, helion Avenge, is now team assoc Rival MT10, helion dominus, is now fs racing marauder, traxas just recently had to change name, of mudd boss, as they tried copy design of 2 brothers you don't see arma, or losi, ftx, etc ,sueing other companies, for after market parts, traxas even tried to sue, H.B.O, fools, they didn't win, I would of thought that after market parts, decals, help sell more the main product which is the car, for the rc company, & also for the real car too, e.g toyota, Ford, etc, great vid by the way, also leant something too, nice one 👍
I had to read that a couple of times to get your point. You're saying that you'd have thought licensed branding on cars would help sell them and also be of benefit to the licensing car manufacturer too? If so, yeah, I think that's the general idea. I don't mind designs inspired by something. But copying without permission is murky. It may have immediate benefits, such as cost-savings for the company and for customers - typical of Chinese things in particular due to the country's approach to IP - but over time, this disincentivizes R&D for new things, as copying becomes more rife, until you're left with a bunch of similar copies of the same copied thing. That's why protecting IP is important. Unfortunately, the troll-like nature of copyright protection comes with the territory, and tends to get the spotlight, especially when claims are abrupt or needlessly egregious, such as with how Traxxas approached their branding strikes semi-recently. Moderation is important in all things, acting in good faith and extending grace instead of expecting mal intent. Goes a long way to ensuring the ecosystem can continue to thrive.
what I was thinking, i would of thought that after market parts, would help sell the big companies RC’s cars, even if they was to too, was put a little 10% commission on patient part, to the smaller rc companies, would help, the ecosystem, as you put it 👌, instead of the likes of traxxas sueing smaller rc companies, out of business 😉
@bernardrc1137 that would be onerous and unfair to the small businesses. I think it better like this: Traxxas were heavy handed about it, but what they wanted to ensure their brands weren't used by other parties. They actually like the after-market, as long as there's no brand confusion. What Traxxas wants is this: Wrong: TRX4m S/Steel Bent Links Right: Bent Links for TRX4m That's all they wanted. They went about it in an awful way and burned a lot of goodwill, but now things have settled, that's what they stipulate in their guidance, essentially. That's a different issue to straight up IP theft with branding/copies, or similarly with patented designs. It's not an overly complex issue, but it gets messy when the small details can make or break a case. I want to see R&D flourish, with the reward inherent to companies taking a risk with trying new things. That only works when their investment in product development is protected.
I am not as discernible in my ratings due to my recent entry in the hobby. But oh my lord, poorly knocked off Ken Block paint scheme is an absolute bummer. No matter the performance or quality of the car. If they offer a clear body, maybe. Just me
You make great videos. But I have yet to ever see any YT'r give negative comments to any vehicle they have been given for free. Is that because they fear the wrath of the company and the lack of future handouts? This Rlaarlo has had more coverage than any other rc car in what seems to be the history of he world wide web. Is it realty that good. Or is it just average? Will other body shells fir ? Will other brand tyres fit ? I think probably not so it isnt compatible with much nd so you are beholding the Rlaarlo ! In that case it should be marked down as just average. And If you hade to pay out $349 for it would you really buy it ? Full price not discounted when other more established brands are offering just as good for less money albeit less gimmicks.
Feels like maybe you didn't watch beyond a few minutes of this video, I addressed that specifically. Maybe you missed it: at least it's clear you haven't watched my other rlaarlo reviews, lol. I went hard on them for some. I always show the problems I have. Eg. ruclips.net/video/KHaDkD85nRQ/видео.html And: ruclips.net/video/rxWPfYpj72k/видео.html In this case, the car was excellent. If I'd encountered problems, I'd have shown them. The closest thing I had to a problem was the motor filling with grass clippings and jamming. I showed that. And yes, I'd really buy it. I showed 2 AK-917 vehicles here and have enough parts for a third. Rlaarlo gave me one for review. I paid for the others. And most of the cars behind me I paid for too, if that answers your question! Other body shells may fit. As with all manufacturers' cars, you kinda need to work it out yourself to fit other bodies. Start with the wheelbase and if they match, go from there. Do other wheels fit? Yes, they use a standard hex nut: rlaarlo.com/products/wheel-hex-set-for-rc-parts?ref=RCTNT
@@RCTNT Thanks for clearing that up. i wasnt directly aiming my comments at you, Just the multitude of reviewers never say a bad word. Yourself and maybe a handful of others are honest the others im pretty much afraid to say accept freebies for content and thumbs ups. Any regarding your other question. I have in fact watched very many of your videos and I'm subscribed to your channel and have been for a few years. If I thought you were cr4p I wouldnt be watching. In fact I'm still waiting for the RCTNT coffee mugs to come onto the market ! Good luck mate . keep up the great work
I'm guessing I know who that purchase was just now. Thanks, I hope you enjoy it! I've had mine on screen a few times already, it seems to be taking regular dishwasher exposure just fine!
What do you want me to do? Take a hammer to it? Really. Think about it - it's a business arrangement, but I'm being as transparent as I possibly can. Look at some of my other rlaarlo videos, I've been heavily critical at times. Cynicism is useful to avoid being misled, but be careful not to apply it across the board or you'll miss some of the goodness in the world.
Which Traxxas VXL model in particular do you mean? Because without expanding on that line, it's an emotive statement rather than a reasoned claim. If you meant you like the Traxxas VXL branded cars better, cool 👍 But if you meant they *are* better than this, then I still don't know what you mean. I can buy two of these cars for one 1/10 vxl model in Australia here. The shocks on all the vxl models I've owned have blown on the first few runs. Shock shafts bent. Numerous ESCs and servos failed, in short order. Bodies less detailed but worse attached to the chassis have cracked and failed. No sway bars, no active cooling, plastic axles that snap, the list goes on. But modern vxl models are better in that they attach to the chassis neatly and stay on. And with bigger tires, they're more capable than this smaller car. But they still blow shock caps and snap plastic axles. They don't have centre diffs except in the higher end models, which are waaay more expensive here. Like, 3x Rlaarlo XTS to one Traxxas Ultimate, that kind of thing. Enjoy your Traxxas models. I do too. They're good. But this rlaarlo model is great.
Just no 😂 , I will say vxl rally was an underrated RC , I’ve owned it since 2008 ish and it still being here , all these years later says that , it still even performing against modern designs wrapped in one like this riarrlo . Combined tech . The body bumpers help durability with short courses n rally’s . The diff is finally shot in the vxl plus once you play with next level stuff and money spent not everything , the traxxas is a toy . . I don’t like the company bc they held back RC , and even dictated the market . Made it so only well off kids could enjoy rc . They do make great RCs but you’re going to pay 0ut the butt , you could match the components to riarrlo and you be over a 1000 bucks . It would be killer maybe better as well . The light kit alone is a fun and very marketable upgrade you’d have to buy . Low tech high quality, this high tech low quality but you could fix that yourself , just needs be water proofed .
The Rlaarlo is waterproof already, is it not? (Though I did notice shielded rather than sealed bearings, after I got off camera. That's a minor issue I wish they'd addressed). I forgot the vxl rally was a thing! Where did the years go?!
@ yes I just meant if we’re comparing the traxxas upgrades to match the risrrlo , I think the traxxas light controls in a waterproof box but riarrlo mounted it on the roof so really not a issue. They did excellent job running the wires , hard to have high speed basher and lights and fans gauges , I’m not much a crawler but that’s what I like about them , time isn’t wasted .
@ your a good guy , I agree I think it’s more of a honor us buying a toy car that keeps him in memories, for true gearheads who always push the limits with anything with wheels 🛞. Now Dale Earnhardt is another story. Reason why we never see the most popular livery around 😆
This was a big one! Car is here: rlaarlo.com/pages/xts-f10?ref=RCTNT Thanks to @Rlaarlo for entrusting one of these to me! It was a fun one :)
I like the longer form of this video with all of the rambling left in and I’d like to see you do more videos like this. Your dog certainly seemed entertained with the car and I was entertained watching her chase it. Good stuff!
Thanks Scott, it'd be my pleasure to do exactly that! Appreciate the feedback.
As you say, many of us, close to you thanks to the channel, we do enjoy these, and it's as close as a straight convo we can get =)
Car seems to drive fine.
Oh really? OK, maybe I shouldn't have been so quick to dismiss it. Thanks for the thoughtful comment, I really appreciate it.
All the best 🍻
I've seen a lot of videos in the past 24hrs, yours sir is a gem! All the others are just bashing at skate parks or on real big gravel, loving your ramblings your explanations. This video more than the other has sold it to me pulling the trigger and going for the carbon.
So thanks from the UK
Oh nice! It was a bit of an experiment to leave this one longer length, but it seems to be coherent enough without feeling like it's dragging, so I'll take the win! Glad it was useful to you 😊
Good luck getting spares for it in 2 years time
I just got spares delivered for my XDKJ-005 and it's over 2 years old.
What parts are you worried about in particular? Rlaarlo has a well stocked catalog to support all their current and previous models..
Thank you for asking how we are doing…that was nice to hear… hope all is well with you and your family
Thank you. People first, stuff second, that's it. Cheers RC fam.
How will Rlaarlo have enough stock for customers when they've sent one out to every RUclipsr? 🤣
literally every youtuber is putting this video out rn.
@chrisginoc I didn't say it's better, I said it beat one in several forms of racing, you don't have to take my word for it. My video is posted.
@@Rek_Rc You know when we'll know the truth? Within 6-12 months of bashing and normal users posting videos and reviews.
$249 USD isn't the cheapest but you get a LOT of bang for your money, I knew you'd like it. I saw tomley's review yesterday and he's in love too. I think dirty pavement with some loose dirt sections is where it would shine.
Agreed, it'd be very good as a, y'know, rally car :p
You're doing something truly remarkable by sharing so much valuable expertise with the community. Your insights and knowledge are not only inspiring but also incredibly helpful to so many people. Keep up the fantastic work-you’re making a real difference! 🙌
Thanks for your kind words. All I really want is to be helpful here. Appreciate it!
Great vid. Could have done with you as a teacher at school when i was a lot younger. I might have listened more in class. Keep up the great videos. Keep well in mind. 😁
Aw thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Awesome video,I know I say that about all your videos but you do an incredible job on your videos.
Thanks
Thank you kindly, RC friend 🙏👍
amazing video. thanks for all your work
Good chat, review, and run!
For sure. Even just reading this makes me want to go out and drive it again!
Love the Craig show. Cameo of the doggo is good too. Fun car
Aw thanks 😁
What fun! Thank you, as always. 🍻
So, Craig reviewed and Lana approved! I love that dog.
Heh I guess so, yes. She slept well after this one!
Thanks, I ordered one based on your Review, Subscibed.
Oh nice, glad it was helpful 😊 I hope you really enjoy the car, it's a ripper!
I'm so glad it was helpful :) My pleasure!
FMS FCX10 LC80 video coming soon. The car is already here, unboxed and I've had a close look at it.
The Rally car platform is based on the Omni Terminator, the Terminator has longer A- arms. Really enjoyed the chat mate, Take care.
Perfect! That would transform the Senton, without a doubt. You'd have one of the best 1/10 SCTs out there now.
Oohhohohhohoo! That dog is really flying! So funny as it was to look, two doggos would be better, came to my mind. Im sure that its been taken care of, so trying to simply enjoy that headless hopping! 😂 (oh, the car, was... Good, I suppose?)
She slept well after this video was done, that's for sure!
Because of that I may choose the Kyosho
, I have a (XTM x crawler) for 20 years.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.
It is actually nice to see, that Rlaarlo considered even later upgrades you may want to make - and offer a lot of parts for that, too.
They seem to enjoy adding little extras, yeah. Not perfect, but what is? I'm glad they're pushing themselves, it's fun to see.
@GreenlaneRC does seem to be a growing trend, yes. Trends to be how these things go!
Great review again! I'd really love to see you review the Omni Terminator. And the upcoming 1:12 buggy of theirs.
@ I guess I should be waiting for that buggy review then... 😀
I was in Australia early mid 80s and was impressed with the road quality now I know why,,, Ashfelt.
Asphalt is far nicer to drive on than concrete slabs, that's for sure!
@RCTNT Long live Ashfelt!
Ash felt asphalt as he fell flat.
@michaeldorich4485 I'll do that 👍
@@RCTNT I just learned from Dario RC Garage that the diffs are different in the metal version and carbon version. The carbon version has spiral gears. If you mentioned that ignore my post.
@michaeldorich4485 they're also a lower grade of metal. I referenced that in the video but didn't expand on it, beyond saying the gears are better in this and the roller, over the metal version.
Can’t wait to get my carbon fibre edition. Hopefully it won’t take too long to arrive 🤞🏾
Sweet! It or the roller are the ones to get, I think. Enjoy!
Loved the video! Wonder what the 20USD shipping is like to South Africa...
...one way to find out :p
Loved the video, please make more of them like this one!
What would be your favorite fast car?
Arrma Infraction for on-road and, hmm... For off-road it's so hard to choose. Tekno and Hobao vehicles here are amazing, and the Losi TT is also sublime to drive. And then there's the whole monster truck and large scale truggy scene. How do you even choose from all that?!
2 second instant pick, I'll take the Tekno SCT410 2.0, but I'll regret not picking one of the many other excellent options!!
@RCTNT thank you for all the info and the swift response! I will look into those cars you mention.
My pleasure! It's a great time to be in RC 😁
If you're considering hundreds but not thousands, and want to buy it right the first time with room for upgrades later, and you think trailing will be primary and crawling secondary (I'm inferring this), consider these:
- Cross RC EMO AT4/JT4/NT4 (RTR and kits available)
- FMS FCX10 Blazer (AliExpress for the win)
- RGT Rescuer (and maybe the Challenger V2, it's nearly here for review, and also the 136100 Pro, also nearing delivery here - both look interesting)
- TRX4 kit with BYO electronics - even the Sport would be great with a decent servo and a Fusion 1800
- Element Ecto, even better with a Fusion for decent high and low speed
From any of those, you'll have a long lasting and capable rig with plenty of room to upgrade when you're ready.
I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️
Yeah she's a Viz.
Ralarlo have done well with this one
Agreed. They're killing it.
Best review I've seen so far for this model. You mentioned a discount code but I don't see it in the description. Is there one? Thx :)
Great video. Thanks
Great review. Different to others and helpfull.
That's the goal, thank you!
Wow, another RUclips Rlaarlo rally car video?
😂
Lol yes, who could have predicted this!?
@@RCTNT lol, regardless, great video. Thanks!

Thanks! Great little monster, isn't it!
This one would thrive on clay
Oh, agreed!
Thanks!
That's very kind, thank you!
I understand a future release from Rlaarlo is going to be a new buggy, on this rally platform.
--
Brain-whammy thought: if there are wheels without traction, motor braking won't work.
(hehehe)
You've got a point on all counts, there are pros and cons for all and yes, you can "create" a lsd using thicker fluid, but the issue with that is it's lsd all the time.
39:51 Lana, keep her in! she's a riot!
Woof.
@@RCTNT least you know how to get her her daily exercise without you having to go running down the road beside her! You can sit in a lawn chair and run an r/c around the yard until she's tuckered out! 🙂
Don't give me ideas, I need the exercise!
Love how excited your dog is :-)
Can't argue with the raw value on this one, yeah. Happy FPV adventuring!
I'm working with what's on the model and what's obviously practical, yeah. But sure, chop them coils and slam the ride for the next asphalt stage!
Will you release a 3d printed rc car? That would be cool

Better than the wr8?
Honestly, probably not. But it's in the same league and for the money, it's an excellent choice.
had they licensed this car officially, the price would be about $200 more and most people that are getting into the hobby and who could get this one are getting a quality product...the same people wouldn't spend the extra on this if it were more expensive just because of the stickers.

@alfoard7709 thanks 😊
They are starting to show how all the big brands are ripping off everyone.
They make you buy extras like swaybars and centre diffs.
Traxxas doesn't even include fans, lol
Team associated was good, but they are falling behind with the clipless and deans connecters.
Not free cars, you earned them, like a job. Literally taxable income as far as the government is concerned.
Most of us have to get it shipped, unless we're in China. I don't have an answer for you but hopefully someone will chime in.
@RCTNT thank-you for the reply bud
21:51 I bet at least one cat who's an excellent rc driver feel insulted 😄 This really seems like a good one, might have to get one despite the dreadful EU VAT
I meant no disrespect to my fellow feline hobbyists 😻
Even if this thing cost half its price more again, the would be there, in comparison to what else is out there. If you get it, I think you'll be a happy owner - the main thing is to be aware of its limitations where bashing is concerned. Gosh it handles nicely though!
pretty sure cats are excellent at RC - they just dont let you see it...
my takeaway was: more throttle more speed
happy crawling/rallying/bashing
Lol you're probably right on all counts there!
You always want down travel. Never adjust ride height with droops screws.
That's the kind of comment I was after, thanks 👍
metal chasis is better , more weight low , my carbon one flips over a lot. cool rc .
I don't know there'd be much difference in this model, given its still a metal chassis even in the CF version. But maybe there is, who knows?

@aknmtbr nice. Hope it was worth the time! Cheers
The way I see it ,bro,as to this copyright, patient ,marklarky, ( I actually know someone who,s surname is marklarky 🤣🤣) anyways, traxas put people out business, e.g helion, helion Avenge, is now team assoc Rival MT10, helion dominus, is now fs racing marauder, traxas just recently had to change name, of mudd boss, as they tried copy design of 2 brothers
you don't see arma, or losi, ftx, etc ,sueing other companies, for after market parts, traxas even tried to sue, H.B.O, fools, they didn't win, I would of thought that after market parts, decals, help sell more the main product which is the car, for the rc company, & also for the real car too, e.g toyota, Ford, etc, great vid by the way, also leant something too, nice one 👍
@RCTNT yep, agreed, it,s all about balance, & win-win situations, & yes, that,s what I was trying to say, keep up the good work, bro, 😉👍
what I was thinking, i would of thought that after market parts, would help sell the big companies RC’s cars, even if they was to too, was put a little 10% commission on patient part, to the smaller rc companies, would help, the ecosystem, as you put it 👌, instead of the likes of traxxas sueing smaller rc companies, out of business 😉
@bernardrc1137 that would be onerous and unfair to the small businesses. I think it better like this: Traxxas were heavy handed about it, but what they wanted to ensure their brands weren't used by other parties. They actually like the after-market, as long as there's no brand confusion.
What Traxxas wants is this:
Wrong: TRX4m S/Steel Bent Links
Right: Bent Links for TRX4m
That's all they wanted.
I've seen sooooo many videos of this I feel like I've already own it so I'm over it now too much saturation in the world 😊
RUclips is pretty wide and deep, thankfully. There's plenty of other stuff to watch!
I am not as discernible in my ratings due to my recent entry in the hobby. But oh my lord, poorly knocked off Ken Block paint scheme is an absolute bummer. No matter the performance or quality of the car. If they offer a clear body, maybe. Just me
I actually agree with you on that. The roller version comes with a clear body, that'd be the one to get.
Eg. ruclips.net/video/KHaDkD85nRQ/видео.html
And: ruclips.net/video/rxWPfYpj72k/видео.html
In this case, the car was excellent.

Vxl traxxas is better
Which Traxxas VXL model in particular do you mean? Because without expanding on that line, it's an emotive statement rather than a reasoned claim. If you meant you like the Traxxas VXL branded cars better, cool 👍
But if you meant they *are* better than this, then I still don't know what you mean.
