You guys are turning me into a trader... I play ygo but I find these magic matches interesting. I don't know what's going on at all. But the card names are kinda ridiculous. In a good way. Very entertaining guys.
I love how Carl just called every burn spell in his deck Searing Spear. Notably a card that's not in the deck, unlike Wizard's Lightning, Lightning Strike, Searing Blood, and Wild Slash. Beautiful.
I loved to see you put the combo together and not be able to pull it off immediately. I imagine myself in similar situations. I've never played Combo, but I'd like to try.
Never really watched 1v1 paper magic videos before this channel. And mostly played best-of-one or commander. The Best-of-3 format and side boarding here brings out so many new aspects about the game I never really thought of in best-of-ones.
This was a really cool video! I have been looking all over for lessons on how to play this deck and its so refreshing to see the explanations and the breakdowns. And not have to look at the MTGO interface.
I'm seeing them up on Amazon for Pre-Order at a bit above 40$ each so reasonable for decks that will introduce players to non-roatating formats and a perfect way to rekindle interest into Pioneer
That was good. I would love to see the fully upgraded decks fighting again. :O Same for the other 2 decks of the Pioneer challenger decks. Keep the work ^^
Great video as always! I was going to buy the red pioneer deck, but looking at the competitive list, the cards that you can get from the challenger deck are cheaper on Card Market as singles
I’m coming back into mtg after a few years away. Used to play modern and commander, but my modern deck is drastically out of date, and some bans have screwed it over. Don’t really wanna buy into modern again, it just got too competitive. These look like a super fun thing to have around to play after a commander game, or to teach someone the basics of the game. Definitely gonna scoop at least two of these
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite youtube channels. It really does need a name to help people find it thought. Anyway thanks for the content. I'd love to see either modern humans or elves in the future.
Hey, Testing these challenger Pioneer Decks is a nice idea. Very interesting product and seeing it in action via you 2 battling it out is nice :) Maybe pioneer is another format you could do from time to time in paper anyways Cheers! Also: thanks for the games, very entertaining and afterall sound, video and everything is very smooth, nice and professional :-)
I just got back into magic since 2002. I bought the mono red deck and a couple strixhaven commander decks. Even bought some booster boxes to doll them up a bit. I never played at my lgs just with buddies in the back room. Looking forward to getting out and playing again. Even if it's at the lgs with strangers. Haha. Really digging the new stuff. Still feels weird playing with sleeves tho. We never did that.
The Mono Red deck was a great choice. We made an upgrade video for this, on how to turn it into a tier 1 deck. Even out of the box it is simple, powerful and fun. Hope you enjoy!
This was fun to watch. I was confused why you wouldn't want to swing in with bomat courier if they had an arboreal grazer. It triggers on attack not damage so you could swing into grazer over and over and not worry about it dying.
Cool decks. But so much misplays from Jamin, 18:40 instead of using Strategic planning, just go into adventure and bring the Second sun and cast it on the next turn))
At 22:20, how does Jamin have 9 mana? He needs two mana to copy Thespians Stage but he just tapped them all as if they were each 3 instead of paying the 2 to copy?
It depends on what we mean by value. If we are talking pure money (price of cards vs cost of box, its debatable. All of the boxes contain more card value than price of the box, though some of them are not huge differences. On the other hand, Pioneer may be a format taken seriously when paper magic comes back, therefore the value of the cards could go up. I think the big advantage is the value of ease when building a new deck in a new format. Rather than buying cards from different sellers and paying shipping fees, you are getting at least the base start of a deck with low investment and not too much time investment to source the correct cards.
@@TehKorwinMikke i did get it, if you would like to know. I upgraded it and collected multiple bags of salty tears haha. But in the end i retired it and dismantled it for a commander deck. I've built urza and collect just as much tears 😭
I started playing lotus field after watching this video, and watching it again i realize how bad the precon was lol. Please upgrade the deck if you want to see the real combo potential.
Two Nickles? You would have a lot more. Strip Mine, Tolarian Academy, Darksteel Citadel, Ancient Den, Tree of Tales, Seat of The Synod, Great Furnace, Vault of Whispers, Ramunap Ruins and Field of the Dead have all been banned in Standard
Like the energy but think Carl plays it up a little which seems fairly forced? Love the attitude but think it could be toned down a bit? Content was great tho. Looking at getting into pioneer and just picked up field combo so this video helped a lot
The lotus field deck is cool and all. I made sure I run my deck that just kills nonbasic land cards and I and counter the the death kill combos. I love watching people spend all there time building land and doing all there things to get there when and when they are about to finsh im like ba get that out of here. I also love keeping there liberal empty also its great
This type of combo/puzzle deck is fun to goldfish, to play against the wall. They are obnoxious when played against humans. And only terrible antisocial weirdos defend using those decks in real game against real humans.

I'm pretty excited about these, I hope they are reasonably priced.
I'm seeing them up on Amazon for Pre-Order at a bit above 40$ each so reasonable for decks that will introduce players to non-roatating formats and a perfect way to rekindle interest into Pioneer
They're reasonable for people getting into the format, lotus field is my favorite
Amazing video as always I haven't played pioneer before but you guys always make something new look interesting!
Ach so! Jamin heißt "Kauf"! Hab mich schon über die merkwürdige Aufforderung seines Cardmarket Shirts gewundert! 😀
'Jamin-corportated' made me chuckle.
That was good. I would love to see the fully upgraded decks fighting again. :O Same for the other 2 decks of the Pioneer challenger decks. Keep the work ^^
We do have more Pioneer coming up soon, I am not sure about precons though

Good call!

lotus field combo to teach someone the game? :D
I just noticed the card labels in the bottom corner of the screen are way easier to read on this video than they are in the new videos 😮
At the time we use to make them custom. People found them much harder to follow than the new ones where we simply crop the actual card 💁♂️
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite youtube channels. It really does need a name to help people find it thought.
Anyway thanks for the content. I'd love to see either modern humans or elves in the future.

Big fan of pioneer precons, hopefully they’re not too expensive. Could we please get indomitable creativity in modern please?

Can someone explain me at 17:00 how can he activate the Thespian stage ability without having 2 mana ?
Vizer got 1 floating then he tapped lotus field for 3 meaning he had 4 used 2 on the thespian and used the other 2 on hidden strings
Watching paper Magic is such a blast!
I got into MtG with that Mono-Red Burn precon. Such a potent deck
Is the background music Marion hill?
Remind me to get a pot of coffee when I play against this Lotus Field/Omniscience deck
Thank you. Great enthusiasm!
When do we get to see younplay the other two?
Soon hopefully
31:52 why did the bomat not die to the fae of wishes
It's power was reduced to 0 by the Soul Scar Mage
I love this format! keep on doing pioneer content
I love this! Thank you so much!
Cool decks. But so much misplays from Jamin, 18:40 instead of using Strategic planning, just go into adventure and bring the Second sun and cast it on the next turn))
Carl said “monastery mentor” game two and I was like 🫤
I bought the lotus feild combo deck, its insane
Same here its insane combo tryd it 5 matches 5 wins XD
Great to hear. I think it might be the most popular of the 4 along side mono red. And such good value as well! You get almost the whole deck!
Got yourself a new subscriber.
The exact 5 words every channel wants to read :D
In that last game Blast zone would've been clutch to clear his 1 drops
At 22:20, how does Jamin have 9 mana? He needs two mana to copy Thespians Stage but he just tapped them all as if they were each 3 instead of paying the 2 to copy?
Jamin asked for me to subscribe so I had to :O
Carl thought every burn spell was Searing Spear this video xD
another great video!
Carl’s got the personality of Jimmy Fallon
These games are so realistically boring - I really like it. Usually you are flooded or screwed.
Super Video!
Thank you very much!
Are those decks worth it? (value)

How about Grixis Lurrus?
Carl looks like Karl from Workaholics
I really want the lotus field combo deck. But it feels like i would be an ass for playing it with my buddies lol
Yes indeed you would!
This style of deck is great for singleplayer.

awesome channel
Thank you!
Affinity/Tron!
I. Adding a comment because pioneer is suddenly getting popular in my area and i want more content to learn and play more
I started playing lotus field after watching this video, and watching it again i realize how bad the precon was lol. Please upgrade the deck if you want to see the real combo potential.
If I had a Nickle for every time a land got banned in standard, I would two Nickles, which isn't much, but it's weird that I happened twice.

Actually Carl is on video the same as in real life!
@@CardmarketMagic well I do humbly apologise! Loved the video. I just started your spirits vs auras game! Tempted to pick up spirits for myself

third game, he should of kept the hand because 2 forest, lotus field.
yep. was a pretty ok hand

Unfortunately it’s not my format but at least it’s paper
We've got a bunch of other feature matches in other formats! Mostly Modern (and Pioneer) but also Legacy, Commander, and Pauper!
