MAYA, from Germany, first started tattooing people when she was two - and with the help of her parents Lily Lu and Anuskatzz, she has become a skilled, professional tattoo artist at just 12 years old. Maya's father, Lily Lu, has always encouraged a free-spirited and artistic lifestyle for Maya and, as a tattoo artist themself, Lily Lu has nurtured Maya's skillset from a very early age. Lily Lu told Truly: "I tried to push her to be creative and to be productive as you have a lot of benefit from it. Growing up, she was painting and when she turned two she asked if she could also tattoo, so I said yeah, why not!" Despite the caring and creative environment they created for Maya, there were people who thought they were irresponsible parents for allowing Maya to tattoo at such a young age. Lily Lu said: "I'm a professional irresponsible person! But it has no harm because Maya is surrounded by professional tattoo artists who have eyes on her, especially in the early years." And Lily Lu is a proud father who believes their daughter is very talented. They added: "I know no one who started that early with tattooing, has that skillset and has that many possibilities. I'm very curious what her future will bring, it's very interesting and exciting but I just want her to be happy."

She seems more professional than a lot of grown up tattoo artists out there. I wish her all the best in life!
@lily lu I hope you continue to support her passion and creativity even after she's an adult. I am 33 this year and my parents still do not support my career choices. It really affected my confidence when I was growing up.
People will say many bad things because they do not understand others. Support from your loved ones will get you through anything ❤️
That part
You can just tell that the dad is a truly wholesome, genuine, caring, and strong individual. His energy is soooo clean and positive.
(The reason I specified the dad is because he's the one that did 99% of the talking).
Maya comes across as very talented and intelligent individual. The parents are clearly doing something right.
i mean some parents aren’t even there in their kids life . their parenting style is different but she seems happy & healthy and thats all that matters 💓
🎉
You can see the parents being there for her.
I recall my childhood and I didn't have it as her. Somehow it's a warm feeling to see other have great parents who are there for you emotionally and in all ways that help you build everything that's needed for a headstart in life.
And I have made peace with it. If you didn't have a great childhood. Make it even better with your kids or siblings or your niece and nephews. Heal and learn to grow with love and happiness which I want to do.
Agreed. Theyre extremely involved and are showing her how to hone a craft she can make a business out of way earlier than most of her peers. She's deff gonna be set up for success. And she'll probably grow up to be more accepting than most people as well. Super cool story
Lmao different most American families are friends with there kid not actually correcting them just let them do as they please
@@johnellis5215 ehh I see both sides. I was adopted to my parents who were in their 60s at the time and lived largely overseas. I grew up more European in culture than American. Having to get a job in middle school and buy my car and phone from my parents despite us coming from money. And after leaving my 20s, my mother told me she and dad wished they had been a better balance of friend and authority figure. So I think this couple is doing great, but I do agree it seems a little too causal and lacking of boundaries. But she also seems way more mature than most Americans her age so, again I see both sides.
Her parents are present and obviously love her. That’s what counts.
Youd be that type of person to allow your child to do that at so young.
If you google Lily Lu you find out their name used to be “Little Swastika” and that they have a bunch of white supremacy symbols tattooed on them… so no I don’t trust literal Nazis to be good parents. Good parents aren’t nazis.
@@yourl0nelydreamer I’m not apart of this but, you don’t know the person
Yes, only I think it looks boring when you have everything full of tattoos, but otherwise good parents
Exactly!
Maya’s getting an education and above all learning in what appears to be a safe space. I think it’s always great to see parents not compromise their own dreams and peace while also supporting their child’s development of self. It doesn’t have to be perfect…once the basic necessities are met, it’s only the ability to fail in safe spaces that define a good childhood.
120 % right ❤
"It's only the ability to fail in safe spaces that define a good childhood". I just wanna say that's a great way to put it. :D
“I just want her to be happy!”
He is a loving father and is ready for her teenager years
He is doing more than some regular parents
All these positive comments make me so happy 🥰 what a lovely family! I wish My parents had been half as loving and kind as these.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💜💜💜 y'all are beautiful!
@lily lu i love how unique you and your family are! Youre a great mother and very creative
Here the negative one, her dad look like avatar😂🎉
I've been following Lily Lu for years and I'm a different kind of artist (more like art student), but they have always been a great inspiration. Also, I can confirm that drawing a square on your leg for your 2-year-old to tattoo in is the most Lily Lu thing I've ever seen.
She is actually super talented, her parents are very refreshing in their outlook on life and I think they are nurturing her in the best way they can, the house is quirky but these are life skills she is learning not book skills and it will take her further than anything!
They genuinely care for her. A lot of parents are drunk abusive medicated people who have no drive no lust on life or want for better - very interesting video
@lily lu despite what “society” sees - I think you ALL are doing a really great job of being well rounded humans on this earth. Most of the time the negative comes from peoples lack of understanding of who they are and you have none of that. Keep it up and blessings to you all! 💜
This parenting technique, is how I wish more parents would be! 💞
The obvious exposure to drugs and mental illness though being in that line of work, as well as the father is a negative
the only thing i disagree with is that they say they’re her friend. you shouldn’t be your child’s friend until they’re an adult. you need to be a parent.
I can see Maya having a very successful future! I hope the best for her and her family.❤
This is such a nice and well made portrait of Maya and her loving family. She is a talented and intelligent person that grows up with some of the nicest and most creative people I know. Its nice to see her in the spotlight :)
@lily lu What a creative mind your daughter is my two children are a little less creative in that respect , nice to see .👍
This kid seems very happy and well adjusted.
YAY Maya!! Been following these beautiful beings on RUclips for years! So happy Maya is getting her much deserved moment to shine!! Can't wait to see what her journey going forward looks like!
Ohooo so well written ❤
@@ASMRkatz Thank you so very much! Sending lots of love to you and your beautiful family from Texas!
Maya's Skills have really grown with her. I have followed her tattoo journey from the time she started and she is getting exponentially better every year. My wife and I are both teachers and we both have degrees and postgrads in psychology as well. We both work with children everyday and I also work with highschool learners with adjustment and emotional challenges and in our experience 90% of parents are not fit for the job of parenting. They are uninvolved and even more sad, they often seem uninterested in their children. A lot of parents work long hours and are stressed to the point of breaking, they simply don't seem to have time or sometimes the will to be there for their kids, this is not entirely the parents fault but also a reflection of the crazy world we live in. I've followed Lily lu's vlogs etc for a long time and let me tell you they are far from ordinary, they do a lot of things that most people would find immoral or even repulsive and they push the boundaries of society on a daily basis, but they are loving, active parents who create a safe but open space for Maya to learn and grow. They are well aware that some parts of their lifestyle is not child friendly and they protect Maya from this until she is old enough to make her own choices. Just like "main stream" parents drink alcohol, smoke and watch violent movies yet don't allow their children to do the same, they also know what is appropriate for her and what is not. Tattooing under the close supervision of absolute masters is by no means an inappropriate act for a child to do. Ironically I wish more of the clean cut suit wearing parents I deal with daily would learn from how they raise Maya.
@lily lu Thank you for the reply! I have been a fan of you for a long time and you have given me lots of food for thought through your videos and how you view life. You have often mentioned in your videos and the above comment that Maya must find her own way and her own life and that you are there to guide her through it. This is so beautiful and in my opinion the only way to raise a child. It makes me so sad when parents impose their lifestyle and beliefs on a child and tell them it is the only way. A child is a human in full right, their own individual from birth. Adults must guide them to find their own identity. Keep doing what you and the rest of psyland does!
This family is incredible! So much love and support!! She’s so blessed to have such present and caring parents!
Omg.. stay in the square 😂 her little art start was soooo sweet, innocent and priceless. Some of us need to be more outside of the square. So happy she was learned an art 👍🏻
Being loved and supported is everything a kid needs. You can see that girl is happy and well loved. It's beautiful ❤
It was really nice to see that there were no negative comments about this wonderful family. It is a big wide world out the out there.. while it’s in our nature to judge, we should understand that not everyone is happy inside that box that Society has put on us. Find your truth, live your life and be happy, that’s all that matters! Maya is obviously loved, she is safe, and her creativity is being nurtured. These parents win!
❤❤❤
You can tell how they love her it’s so sweet
Beautiful family! Maya will be a force no one will be able to hold back and that is the wish for every parent. Love all of it
This is all aesthetics to me. These are good parents.
I want to know the story behind her father's life: how his image has been changing through the years, why he decided to cut off his phalanges, etc.
At least she seems like her own person and it doesn't seem like she is forced. If she loves doing it, I don't see the problem
They are great parents, loving, yet pushing her. I dig it❤
What a great father, Lily is. I couldn't love this more!! Gruss aus Chicago!!
He seems like a very great dad man! ❤
Lily is the best father I’ve ever met ❤
Love it! He seems like an amazing father! ❤️🙏✨
The most important thing is that they are there for her and (based on the video) they seem to be raising a good person, and that’s what matters at the end of the day. If she’s growing up being a good and respectful person, it doesn’t matter at all at what age she started tattooing.
Glad to see Lily and the family getting so much positive feedback. They're all amazing and inspiring people ❤
I can see they are loving parents , and are raising a beautiful creative young girl ❤
If she's this good at such a young age already,I can only imagine how talented she'll be as time goes on.
This is great. They seem like good parents and that’s all that matters. Maya seems loved and cared for and I think she will benefit from such a unique and unorthodox upbringing.
Such a lovely family and such a fun home! I agree with when he said, “I don’t think we’re giving her much to rebel against” haha. Keep up the great work parents & Mya!
Just because parents are present doesn’t mean they are good parents
@lily lu you both are clearly present as well as give Maya the space to be herself and explore her passions. Having a unique look/aesthetic has nothing to do with your quality of parenting. Seems like pretty good parenting to me!
Fun to see lily lu and his wife anuskaatz, been following them both in a few years now! 🥰
@lilylu i meant in a way that i thought it was amazing to see you here on this channel. 🙂
Such a beautiful family, its really nice to see parents who support being creative and out of the box. I only wish i had this, as im from a very strict family where you’re only respected if you are doctor engineer etc
They seem super fun and I wish I had parents like them!
They are all really cool & chill I loved seeing their lifestyle.
He is a really good father. He is involved in her life and supports her creativity.
My parents were punks , fashion designers in Sydney.. dad has gone on to have a career in youth homelessness services & is an industry leader in helping teenagers in crisis.
You are doing awesome.
My parents were Radical and sane - like your family unit - Functional.
Exactly as your guessing ... you are making it easier for your daughter to have nothing to rebel against.
It's a strange but noble privilege of being grounded so well that you can fly anywhere..
I am so in admiration for your work. It's inspiring myriad philosophical potential.. Thank you.
Gegen rebellieren ;vor allem in der Jugend ist nichts einzuwenden;gehört auf jeden Fall zu einer guten Entwicklung dazu.
These parents are doing the best for the kid and that's amazing
Omg hi u and ur family is gorgeous
Bitte wie kann man das beurteilen, nach einem so kurzen Video
that's awesome Maya my son is 16 and learning tattooing and he is already on RUclips making music . a lot of us parents fully support our kids following their dreams .
He was so handsome before im sorry for his mental demage! I wish him healing!
its nice how her parents are being responsible and how theyre sorta dissolving the stigma of "people with tattoos are evil"
Wonderful family! This guy is a king among men. Family goals! Made my Monday!🖖🏾🤘🏾🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
That's so beautiful and amazing that she can do that
Love that dad made sure she focused on something other than her phone! Great parent!
Such a great insight into a wonderful potential of how creative family life can be
Its crazy how mature & well rounded she is at such a young age. But its great to see. Because it's something young people desperately need, and many lack. Shes doing very well for herself, & its nice that she has the guidance that may be unorthodox to some, but is missing in some youth because of lack of guidance in general. And shes clearly got a future in tattooing if she does stick with it. Which i wouldnt be surprised if she did, & i do hope she does! It could be a nice path for her
I think they’re doing an amazing job with maya , she will be an amazing hardworking and loved individual when she grows up ! ❤
Maya has nothing to rebel against (referring the the last few comments in the video). She is living her best life, with all the love, support, and encouragement to be her own person. Why would she rebel against these amazing values. There is so much love in this family; it is fantastic to see parents being so engaged with their child.
I love this! Good for them. They love her & raiseing her to be herself & doing it all with love & confidence. Good job 👏 👍
There is nothing wrong with her tattooing. She is no different then a 20 year old tattooing to be honest because she has been doing it all her life . The ppl she is tattooing are giving their consent. They know obviously how old she is & most likely have seen her skill level (cause she is not tattooing everyone off the street she is tattooing ppl that know her).
Good on her for being herself & her parents nurturing what she wants to do in a positive healthy way.
Sending much love ❤️
Achei maravilhoso eles incentivarem a arte desde cedo com ela, devem ser pais incríveis 💗💗💗 com um relacionamento muito mais saudável do que muitas famílias padrão que vimos por aí. Sucesso pra essa família linda 💗
She has amazing parents. I don't care how they look, they are souly good amazing kind people. love that.
You are giving her love, support and room to learn & grow! Your home & family are so wonderfully diverse & unique . You should give yourself some well deserved credit ...Maya is happy & thriving!!❤👌✌❤
amazing. the skills an talent she will have when shes an adult will take her places. . i give props to the parents
Why would this be irresponsible? She's learning a skill that's considered incredibly difficult to do, and if anything she's already FAR ahead of her peers who are busy pouring all their time into social media and their online life.
Honestly, I think they are great parents. They teach her, they are patient with her, they nurture her, and they create a safe place for her to learn and perfect her craft. Imagine how good she will be by the time she is 30. When you look at the parents and how they look at their daughter, you see so much pride. They are so proud of her! You can tell that they really love her, and spend a ton of time with their daughter. Look at that back yard set up with the trampolines! You can tell that they are a fun and adventurous family!
I rlly love her early tattoo work, reminds me of basquiat
Everyone looks very kind and gentle here. I don't see any problems with this. Much love ❤
this girl is uber talented and her parents are awesome, we just live in a judgmental society ❤❤❤
I wonder if it's a record of some kind.
Like youngest tattoo artist or something.
@lily lu Who said it was about that? Breaking a record is a huge honor for anybody of any age and if she's broken the record, SHE DESERVES THE CREDIT FOR IT.
I bet you, her, or anyone else would turn down being a world record holder because "it isn't about being a world record holder". You would break someone's arm snatching that record out of their hand. Do you even realize how much business she's gonna get from this? Imagine if she had a world record hanging on the wall. It's not the most important thing but it's nice to have and something to be proud of. That was an ignorant remark and you're putting words in my mouth. The only one thinking that was you.
I think it’s cool she tattoos, how wonderful. and I love her parents. Cool people.
Imagine being that guy: “A 2-year-old did my tattoo!”
SO viele respektieren!! The way you guys do you is really lovely to see! Some fascinating perspectives indeed. Your kid is loved SO MUCH that Dad is willing to give up his own skin for practice to allow her to grow. That is amazingly beautiful.
Edit to add… Not just that! The whole community of friends and people who want to see this kid grow and bloom, and she is!
I can’t seem to edit on my mobile account lol… not just DAD*
Wow, Maya, you got mad skills. :)
Cool parents! I would have loved to be raised like Maya (I think that's the girls name). I wish I could do tattoos.
They seem like great parents!
@lily lu you’re family is so wholesome and I love the creative home you’ve all created! Not going to lie I was very envious of that trampoline you made haha.
Definitely good parents.
👍
Maya is such a sweet kid. They raised her well
So much love! ❤
She looks like such a help healthy and most of all well spoken child! It may not be conventional but it’s honestly a healthy household!
Are you kidding me....The father is obviously mentally ill, the "extreme tattoo" environment is filled with heavy heavy drug use/prostitution and mental illness.....Horrific environment to constantly normalize to kids......I imagine another fluff piece done trying to paint a stripper/"sex worker" family environment as actually a good thing for raising children 🙄👽🤡🤢🤮
@lily lu You saying that doesn't change the fact that the "extreme tattoo/body piercing" environment is filled with heavy drug use/prostitution and mental illness (or all of it at the same time)....A very bad environment to raise children in
those trampolines though!!!! i want my kids to have that haha
Wonderful family ❤️and very talented
They are compassionate, and are active in the kid life. Better then a lot of parents I've known. Seem like cool people to me. Good for them. Hate judgmental people
When I read the caption, I knew it couldn't be anyone else than Lily Lu's daughter! Pure awesomeness 👌 ❤
As someone who is in the middle of tattooing most of my body, what makes the experience great is both my daughters take an interest in the images. I don’t always agree with Lily, but I respect the hell out of him. Keep it up!
🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏👏 as a parent myself, when my kids where growing up it was super hard to get my kids to be creative. Now they are amazing children, they are adults with kids themselves ((except for the two youngests, they will be 18 themselves. One is about to be 18 in July, the other one just turned 17.)) And they understood that what I try while they where young, being a single parent wasn't easy. And I also warned them "Being a parent is not easy, children is not born with manuals. If they where it will be 100x easier, but you take the good and the bad. Take that and make it as a positive experience as much as possible, you not only there as a parent but also a friend." And I notice a lot of people who does have kids or about to be first parents are always scared of the "What if...." if you think that way all the time. You accidentally push the kids to do something they don't want to do, and make them reject full and hateful with EVERYTHING. I was lucky enough to had an amazing adopted dad that thought that way, being positive and encouraging creative outlets. "Dream realistic big, you can go futher that way then wish..." as he used to say including "Wishing on a fish, doesn't serve the dish." I had to explain that one to my sweetheart of what it means. 🤣🤣🤣
@lily lu my kids was SUPER picky, it's because of the environment they where around in. We lived in a very rough neighborhood, which I try not to let my kids stay in. But when you don't have a strong other "significant other" to help you, it's hard to have that 50/50% type of stable work. So I try my best, but my kids where very picky because of all the negative comments from their friends in school and such.... I think my kids where more in to music, art, and also more of traveling cause I got them in to thinking more outside the box. 😅 their friends got super jealous about that....
Omg! The Psyland couple! Love them🥰been following them for a long while 🙂
@lily lu Hi there Lily Lu,say hi to your talented daughter and your gorgeous wife from a friend in Norway 💖💞💞
OK so nobody’s going to mention that the guys blue? If he was walking down the street with his wife I would cross to the other side the fact that they taught her how to tattoo at Age 2 is mind boggling like how does that even come up organically?
I was looking for this comment dude looks like avatar lol
He also had two of his fingers taken off
Her parents are the definition of healthy involved parenting “fun” & happiness. 🖤
Slightly concerned about the nation's child labor laws and the fact that they gave a toddler a tattoo needle, but they overall seem to be a functional family with plenty of love in the home.
she wanted to tattoo for fun not for work
@@nelloitt6910 Gotcha, I admittedly wasn't paying a whole lot of attention.
Maya has a mother & father, actively present in her life, that encourage her to pursue something meaningful. That is the most important thing in a child's life.
Yessssssssa!! People live in a box!! My family and I live outside the box!!! We are professionally irresponsible parents!! Don't they say communication is KEY to every relationship. Then why don't ppl communicate with their children?? Because the BOX instructions say your the adult! Don't explain yourself to a kid!! SMH instead of saying you just so happened to be a parent of a person!! That you are to show how to be a person with morals and values!! You must show respect to earn respect!!! It's not givin because I'm a mother it's giving because I take the time to teach with patience and understanding!!! Your a human!!! Treat people how you Wana be treated!!! Noone can tell at you but your yelling at kids all day?? Why because they are small? They are literally little humans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now they saying they're like a "friend" to her is a bit crazy. But as long as she's not getting tattoos it's kool. And dad is quite shocking
Ngl dude looks better than he did before. That darkness really suits his skin.
I like how her dad said that he doesn’t try to force his lifestyle on her, he just lets her do her thing. That’s really cool because a lot of people would try that very thing because it’s what is “safe” or “normal” for them. But let’s say she ends up going a completely different route like a traditional job or living a very structured lifestyle, completely opposite from what she loves now? Of course no one but Maya herself knows what she’ll become or what she’ll choose but at least she can know for sure that her dad will love her and be there for her regardless. That’s a lot more than most people/kids can say and be certain of.
Beautiful family!
She seems to get all the love, creativity, fun and freedom a child could get !! She speaks English very well ..so what her father looks different . Guess allot of children need this love
I love this family they're so unique and fun
unusual but seems like a great father.
Wish I had parents like them, so happy for her.
I love how he says im a professional irresponsible person😂😂that 100% sums up Lily Lu
this is such a wholesome video i love this so much and i love their home and ethos and just how they interact with each other
Im a Professional irresponsible😂😂😂😂❤ love it... Maya sure have more beautifull crazy special family and Father daughter Moments than die most of the *normalos* out there , auf deutsch sie kommt rüber absolut selbstbewusst umd gut erzogen, mit Sicherheit im Kopf sehr viel weiter als manche erwachenden Menschen ich finde ihr seid n tolle Familie ihr und all the squirrels Army ❤
Ich finde es seltsam wenn Eltern sagen,daß sie mehr Freunde für ihre Kinder sind. Als Eltern kann man so viel mehr als ein Freund sein
she is so lucky to have loving parents!!
