☘️ great idea for an episode guys! can't wait to watch this. happy st.paddy's!!
Great video guys. I’m not a massive beer fan but I’m going to watch your videos and see if I can find something to change my mind 👍🏻
The bottle is supposed to be drunk without pouring it into a glass, that also chnages the taste
Very true! We address that in a follow up video here ruclips.net/video/svNfNpfAIuk/видео.html Its really a shame since it eliminates the aroma from the equation which is such an integral part of guinness Draught for us.
Great energy fellas! And now, I really want a Guinness in a can. Sláinte!
Nice job guys. Bottle or can, you can't go wrong either way. Looking forward to your episodes leading up to St. Patrick's Day.
Totally agree. Can wins for me by a mile ; ) It has everything that makes Guinness special and unique. Nitrogen is powerful ; ) Sometimes the can is better than a pub...depending on the pub ; )
Agreed! I’ve had some terrible pints in pubs here in Canada and wished I had a can in the moment.
Trying my first bottle as I’m watching your video. Your review is absolutely spot on ! Well done!
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words! Filming this was my first time trying the bottle too.
@@BeerBrackets If you come to Australia let me know - love to have a pint or two!
@@roybarnes-thewildlifeman1855 Australia is a dream trip for both of us, so if we ever get out there we'll definitely reach out! Make it 2 or 3 pints.
Same
The bitterness from the bottle comes from the roasted malts not the hops. Both are great for different reasons. Both fantastic brews!
Really interesting comparison! I haven't done this head to head but I do generally preferred bottled beer but then I also tend to like less carbonation. It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts on can vs bottle but poured quicker (or through some sort of nozzle) to give the bottled beer more of a head. Cheers!
That's a great suggestion! We actually just posted a follow-up video where we reveal the proper way to drink bottled Guinness, which affects the comparison a little bit. Doesn't change our opinion on it in any way, but could result in another head to head down the line.
Great video gents! I prefer from the can, with the widget it's so creamy.
Did you ever see the "surger" system? It was the only way to get a Guinness with a good head when I was living in Japan since they don't usually have it on draught.
It's the Can for me! Bottle wise the West Indies Porter not over chilled is very welcoming too. (Got to be in a Guinness glass too)!!!! 😊
This one is my favorite but the extra stout is not easy drinking for me. Didn't know about the can bottle difference but from the tap was great.
If you can find the Foreign Extra Stout I would highly recommend to try that. It's completely different that the regular Extra Stout. Cheers!
With CO2 making a weak acid in water, could it be that it’s that which makes it bitter while the nitrogen is inert and adds nothing to the flavour?
What's funny is not so long ago you could only get Guinness in a bottle and it was pulled straight off the shelf and that's the way it was consumed, if you talk to the older generation they say you drank it at room temperature to enjoy all the aroma. Not sure that would work today especially when most pubs give 2 choices, cold or ice cold.
For future comparisons. The can is supposed to be poured into a glass in it entirety. Not sure if it matters with the bottle. Sláinte !!!
If you pour the bottle fast into a class it adds a lot of foam recommend a large class for it
My impression the bottle cud used to drink from the bottle if you love Guinness and you head out to do outdoor stuff few bottles in a cold box with ice in the box could be the way to save you bringing a glass for the can.
Cheers Robert! That's a good point for sure, can't go wrong with a Guinness any way you have it. For us losing the aroma experience by drinking out of a bottle is too much, but it's great either way. Thanks for watching and happy new year!
@Beerbrackets my favourite beer what ever way it comes 😋
great video guys
Thanks for the kind words! Cheers
Love the music choices.
We love our beer brackets sound track :) Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Cheers 🍻
i weirdly love the bottom right guys' physical expressions lol
He's a beauty
It’s the same beer recipe, but obviously the nitrogen in the can is going to provide an appearance and mouthfeel much closer to Guinness on tap.
The best Guinness I ever had was from a bottle, but that impression might’ve been influenced by the fact that I’d just finished a six hour bike ride!
I did a 4 hour bike ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls last summer and the beer at the end of that rainbow definitely tasted like the best I’ve ever had in the moment haha so it’s possible that had an effect. That being said, Guinness is delicious in all packaging formats so who knows.
@@BeerBrackets thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, it really does work that way. There are precious moments, snapshots in time, that I write about in my ongoing memoir project.
The one and only time I had Guinness from the bottle. Cheers! 🍺
You can't really compare Guinness between cans and bottles until you get a widget bottle. And I have to say as a dark stout beer I prefer the non-widget Guinness bottle to the widgeted Guinness can.
The key word here is 'creamieness'.
Exactly! Couldn't agree more.
Very late commenting on this. But when i was in college in Dublin in the 90s these came out ... and the idea was that you drank from the bottle. So that it tasted and felt fairly like draught Guinness ... but you didn't see that there was no creamy head. Drank a lot of them at games and festivals etc
It's so interesting because people here have no idea. Then again, it's not that easy to find them. The cans are definitely more popular. I guess it goes to show you should always read the beer instructions on the packaging.
I got the bottle first because I was always told buy bottles for beer and pour in a glass.
The can is way better though in this case.
I 100% agree with the bottle being more bitter.
It definitely is a little more on the bitter side, right? Thanks for watching Joshua! Cheers
Can you please do can vs bottle budweiser?
Stay tuned my friend! Coming very soon. Thank you for watching! Cheers! 🍻
Imo the bottled version is stronger in taste. It’s the one I prefer to be honest.
Those bottles aren't designed to be poured fyi
True, the widget works slowly as you repeatedly tip the bottle, as opposed to the can widget that releases the pressurised nitrogen much faster
You are absolutely right. We released an episode where we talk specifically about that ruclips.net/video/svNfNpfAIuk/видео.html
Agree with the Can; thank you guys; at 80 years old I am beginning to enjoy Guinness the proper way.
It’s never too late to start enjoying a Guinness any way! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers my friend!
I will never forget my first cold served Guinness Draft 0.0 in a can....
How was it?? I can't get the 0.0 in Canada yet. The consensus seems to be it's like a watered down Draught.
@@BeerBrackets The Guinness Draft 0.0 is slightly sweeter and slightly less heavy in taste than the Guinness Draft with alcohol. But the differences are really negligible. It's a delicious dark beer! I live in the Netherlands and bought it from the largest supermarket chain in my country: Albert Heijn.
Dang I had no idea I’m gonna go buy cans I’ve never had them I just assumed a glass bottle would taste better I’m excited
Let us know what you think when you try a can! Don’t forget to pour it out too
@@BeerBrackets the head was definitely a lot better and I was able to get some more nutty undertones in the can version but somehow it tasted a little bit off I’m not sure how to explain it. It could be that the bottles I have in my fridge are near freezing. But overall I started just enjoying the bottles straight out the bottle and I pour the cans now instead
In the can with the nitrogen widget is best !! No contest !!
Agreed!
The can is far superior due to the widget.
All of a sudden I want an Irish Car Bomb 💣. I like the Nitro effect from the can but the bottle always taste a tad bit fresher to me, nonetheless they both are still awesome. Great review guys! 🍻
I agree, just had a bottle draught and it doesn't really taste like the creamy and balanced Guinness I know from tap and can.
Agreed! Plus you lost out on the aroma which takes away so much of the experience.
in my opinion bottle is always better because the can passes a little of metal flavour to it and the bottle is more pure
They should put a widget in the bottles
There’s actually nitrogen in the bottles, but you need to drink the beer straight out of the bottle and not pour it to get the effect. Kinda defeats the purpose of a Guinness in our opinion.
Wish they made extra stout in the cans
Wouldn't that be something?
Guinness in a can 💯%
I’ve been looking forward to trying Guinness for a while now and today I finally tried my first. It was the bottle and I was completely satisfied but after watching this, I feel I may be even more impressed from the can.
We are so happy to hear that! Let us know what you think! Enjoy and cheers!
@@BeerBrackets Cheers, mate. I finally had a can yesterday, there is a magnificent difference and I much prefer it to the bottles. My new default and go-to, I must say for sure. It goes down way too easy. I’m proud to say that my ancestors were Irish.
@@johnmaynes7142 Hi John, Great comments. It tastes and looks better from a Guinness glass! Treat your self if you haven't already. Keep safe. Cheers Grant 😊
I thot the guy in the small screen is doing sign language for deaf
That's hilarious! You are right! It definitely looks like it, but I was just being silly. Cheers and thank you for watching!
I'm a CO2 fanatic so I prefer the Extra Stout version of this beer. Nitrogen just doesn't feel right in any beverage. It's too smooth in my opinion. Carbonation is always the way to go.
The Extra Stout is fantastic! We have a Draught vs Extra Stout episode as well as a full review of it that we posted recently if you're curious. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Draught on tap in Ireland...
The best!
Alessandro io amo libera in vetro ma..ti dirò la Guinnes forse è un eccezione ,insieme al peeoncino ciao.
Ciao! Grazie mille per il commento!
I prefer the original Guinness to the draft. I think it's far more flavoursome. Bottles win the day in my opinion.
☮️❤️
Can always taste better to me
Agreed!
Bloody annoying you can't get the bottles in Oz.
