Beer Brackets [🍺]
Канада
Добавлен 4 ноя 2020
One beer to open, one beer to close. That's all you need to know to start your journey in the wide and mysterious world of Beer Brackets.
Joe and Alessandro met over a Guinness in a pub while on solo trips in Ireland in 2014. While they've always lived in different countries, they kept a friendship meeting annually to explore different cities and taste the local brews. While isolating during covid, they began having virtual meetups to open and close their beer brackets. Presenting different beers they found locally that they couldn't wait to tell the other about. Then they thought...why not share our beer journey with anyone else who'd like to have a beer with us.
Join Joe and Ale as they embark on their beer brackets journey. How will a Canadian and an Italian agree on different beers and where will the brackets take us?
Opening and closing the beer brackets is a way to remind ourselves that it's not only about drinking beer. It's about what happens before, in between and after.

Duvel 6,66% 🇧🇪 - Review
A few months ago, I had a chance to visit Ale down in Florida for a few short days. After a stop at Total Wine to stock up on some rare beers to try, we took advantage of being in the same place to film a few episodes in his pub. As you can imagine, after filming a few reviews prior to this one, our beer barometer senses were sharpened to the point of achieving close to perfect, optimal review performance.
The sunny, warm yellow design of the bottles already suggests it. This Duvel 666 is much more mild than it's predecessor. The regular belgian golden ale. No fewer than 6 different hop varieties are used for Duvel 6,66%: just like the classic Duvel, it’s based on the noble and exclusive ...

Yuengling, the Oldest Brewery in America, is reintroducing their Bock Beer. Which had a limited run back in 2008. With Joe down in Tampa visiting Ale, they were able to pop in and check out the new(ish) Drafthaus where they make the stuff. It's also the only place in the state that you can get a case to go. Caramelizing Beer

Beer poking involves heating a metal rod in a fire until it's glowing red and then plunging the tip into a glass of beer for a few seconds. Ideally, a beer high in residual sugars such as bock. We secured the extremely rare Yuengling Bock beer and prepare to embark on a new, epic beer que...

What are Winter Warmers? - Inside the Brackets Ep.29
Rice there’s a headache in every can. Budweiser needs two pull tabs one to drink from the other with a Excedrin under it 👍
Yuengling is the best "beer" in the US. What I mean by that is most Americans see beer as the "lagers" of Budweiser, Miller, PBR, Coors, and I would lump some of the mass produced imports in there too. That really is all we had available for decades. Yuengling is that style done very well. I think its critical for showing people what beer can be. That beer can have flavor, texture, etc. You give someone a Yuengling and their faith in beer just changes. Then, they can branch out to different styles. Excellent show gentlemen! Id love too see Yuengling vs Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold
I will have to side with Modelo Lager Especial.
Drinking Dos Equis Lager Especial right now and really enjoying. Used to really like Modelo Especial but last batch was a little skunky.
The skunkiness can definitely happen with Modelo, no doubt. Getting a bottle from a closed 12 or 24 pack is ideal if possible. Although we didn’t mind it in this Vs. Battle
Crackery crunch 😂😂
Would love if you guys could try Japanese beer such as asahi vs sopporo both very good in my opinion and give a refreshing taste. Hope you're both doing well fellow brothers 🧑🦲🍻 ( bald emoji is the closest thing to a monk)
Andrew...it's so funny you say this. We just had a filming session last night where we did Sapporo and Asahi reviews as well as a vs. battle. So that'll be coming on the channel in the next few weeks! We're both doing super well, thanks for asking. Hope you and your fam are good too. Thanks for watching and cheers! 🍻
@@BeerBrackets funny how cosmically a attraction to similar beer styles seem to line up for me when it comes to this channel definitely the work of the monks !
@@andrewperkin7192 The monks work in mysterious ways....
Modelo Especial is one of the best tasting beers I’ve ever had
It’s pretty fantastic!
Glad I watched your video. Now I can pronounce the name of the beer I can go into a pub and order it, and not look like an idiot .
😂 I wouldn’t take any of our pronunciations as beer gospel. I’ve heard some people pronounce it as just “leff” 🤷🏻♂️
I love this. I've always loved this beer, it's extra special.
It absolutely is special. Thanks for watching and cheers! 🍻
GUYS A FEMALE PRO DRANKWR TOLD ME ITS BETTER IN A CAN CAUSE THE YEAST ESCAPE IN THE GLASS IT TRAPPED IN HMMM
Gotta trap that yeast! 🍻
If you’re spending a summer day outdoors in Boston, Guinness Draught is the beer of choice. Hands down.
I love Busch Light! It's my go to camping and hot weather beer. Goes down so smooth and I can have more than a few! I believe you are smelling the corn 🌽🍻
IMO Dos Equis is probably the poorest of the big Mexican lager brands quality-wise. Not to say it's bad, but very unremarkable. Much prefer a Pacifico like our friend Hector said here or a Modelo.
DRINKING AS I’M WATCHIG
The best way to watch!
Old croc cheese review
Cheese brackets! [🧀]
Been a blue fan since 84' unfortunately, it's not very popular in Alberta and can be difficult to find
Can or bottle, I love the fresh and crispy flavor of Corona Extra, Coronita or Corona Light
You are comparing apples and oranges here. A dark lager is always going to have a maltier, fuller taste than a pale lager. It doesn't make it one bit better than a classic American/German pale like PBR, it just makes it a different style.
My buddy just recently turned me on to this brew and he said the same thing about the orange it needs it or else it isn’t a blue moon
I find IPAs very refreshing
Dang I had no idea I’m gonna go buy cans I’ve never had them I just assumed a glass bottle would taste better I’m excited
Let us know what you think when you try a can! Don’t forget to pour it out too
@@BeerBrackets the head was definitely a lot better and I was able to get some more nutty undertones in the can version but somehow it tasted a little bit off I’m not sure how to explain it. It could be that the bottles I have in my fridge are near freezing. But overall I started just enjoying the bottles straight out the bottle and I pour the cans now instead
siiii amigos! I agree, Dos Equis is not close to the best cerveza you can find out there. For me it's always pacifico or modelo. you guys need to review pacifico!
Ahhh summertime! Love some ice cold mexican lagers when it's hot as hell outside.
I'm not exactly thrilled with this lager.
y'all should give leinenkugels summer shandy a try
Will keep an eye open for it!
Stella is o.k. Modello is edge better.
Dang Canada sucks lol
Here's a reason to keep on living....sitting with Joe and Allexandro at a table in a small German town platz at about 5.30pm on a Summer night and a kellner comes out with a tray of foaming Weinstephaner Vituses vom fass....just imagining it makes me reach for a(nother) beer....
Guinness draught everytime!
Agreed!
Great channel and great beer the Germans know how to make beautiful beers.
They absolutely do… there’s no doubt about that. Thanks for watching and for the kind words! Cheers 🍻
2nd only to Celebrator. I actually prefer 11.2oz size dopplebocks.
Still have not had a chance to try the Celebrator, but Ale has and he loves it. It’s on the list of beers to hopefully review one day.
This is my favorite of the Weihenstephan beers. Have yet to try the Vitus though, will need to bring some back from the U.S. like Joe did one day.
Too quiet please raise volume levels in the future thanks. When the ads came on it nearly blew out my eardrums.
Cold bottles are always better.
my store has this one! gonna get it next week for my friday night tastings. cheers amigos
Awesome! Let us know what you think
you are waiting a week too long.
Dinosaurs and beers living side by side! What a beautiful time in history 🤣 Great episode guys, thanks for the quality entertainment.
loll It's like the Flinstones, but with dopplebock
Ah! The legendary Korbinian!
Ah, ancient legends, behind only “it came to me in a dream” in reliability. Love this one, but haven’t had it in awhile! I think this and Aventinus Weizenbock were the beers that inspired me to try more international offerings.
Aventinus is an amazing beer. They had it on tap at a local German bar a few years back. I believe it's actually a Weizen-doppelbock.
You’re right! It is a “Weizenbock” which is a wheat doppelbock like you said. Just like the Weihenstephaner Vitus.
We maintain that legends are infact the most trustworthy source of accurate historical data.
Doppelbock!!! My all time favorite. Korbinian -- one of the few doppelbocks that doesn't end in the "ator" suffix.
Haha that’s so true!
Happy you finally got to try this masterpiece, regardless the score. Really worth the journey involved just to be able to taste it. 6:14 I have the Trappist Rochefort chalice that has a thicker than usual glass wall and it makes a long vibrating sound just like a Tibetan singing bowl. Not only it vibrates longer but is also louder than than all the other chalices that I have.
It was more than worth the journey, that’s for sure. What a spectacular beer it is. A Tibetan singing bowl! Haha That’s a great reference. I’ve seen the Rochefort chalices, I need to get myself one of those. It would be a great addition to my glassware collection. You can never have too many beer chalices.
Heineken is more plain and pure. Stella is more flavorful and unique. It all depends on what you want. Me personally I just want to have a pure beer that doesn't have to much flavor to it other than the purity of the basic taste. It never gets old for me
In the south we drink American tasting beer not some micro brewery California bitter as hell tasting piss water thats over priced. PBR Coors etc. If you want to impress drink some southern sour-mash that way.
I was born and raised near Chico, California, so this beer has been around most of my adult life. I’m being said this is absolutely my go to, I’ve always appreciated it and I believe it is the finest beer ever crafted. Your review, however, has brought some elements of its complexity into my mind and I feel like I have a newfound appreciation. Thank you, gentlemen. I appreciate it.
This has gotta be our favorite comment ever. Thanks for taking the time to hang out with us in the pub and watch. Cheers my friend 🍻
Ahhh classics. The episodes and the beers. I've only had Orval once and I remember thinking it was pretty "funky" too. It kind of caught me off guard, so I don't think I enjoyed it as much as I could. I'm going to revisit it and see what I think. It's pricey though... like a lot of trappist beers.
Wish more local breweries would make dubbels. I don't think I've ever seen a non-import.
I think it might be because it's a bit of a more challenging flavor profile. They're really sweet and strong. Maybe they don't sell as well so smaller breweries aren't willing to take a chance on them.
Such a good point! The biggest one I can think of is Unibroue’s Maudite. But not sure if that’s exported much outside of Canada.
Had both the Orval and Westmalle Dubbel on a sunny terrace in Belgium a few weeks ago. Both are fantastic beers, but especially the Westmalle Dubbel. The GOAT of the Belgian dubbels for me, and one of my absolute favourite beers.
We’re not always the biggest fans of dubbels- they tend to be a little too sweet for our tastes - but the Westmalle dubbel is absolutely fantastic.
Australian brewed has abominabley bitter aftertaste. Bliss whilst drinking though 🍫🍺
So does the Canadian brewed on! The Irish version is by far the best I’ve tried
I thought that the stock footage of those porters? stouts? being poured should have had about two times the head in height/thickness. That's how Guinness is poured from the tap. Is it different for stouts vs. porters? I guess I'm remembering now that porters usually have more shallow heads than stouts.
I had this once about 7 years ago.. I Liked it, but it was STRONG, and packed a Punch for sure! I might go this again, in the future! This is Not a cheap BEER! Very expensive, for what it is, which at the time I said to myself = Not worth it!, afterwards.. = Do not buy this unless you want to spend $$ on a Very Strong Hoppy Beer! An Alternative.. Buy an IPA from a good locale brewry, They need your $$ and probably NEED your support & $$! These guy's Make good food too! I have Never had bad food from a Brewry Ever.. They love the quality of their food, which pairs along with their Beer! I had this once about 7 years ago.. I Liked it, but it was STRONG, and packed a Punch for sure! I might go this again, in the future! This is Not a cheap BEER! Very expensive, for what it is, which at the time I said to myself = Not worth it! = Do not buy this unless you want to spend $$ on a Strong Hoppy Beer!
Heineken.. Was my go to working beer for quite a while. I do not like it's mass corporation conglomorite though, but there so many that it really does not matter in the world. They DO havea Great Flagship product. I like it. But.. Give me a Grolsch Any Time! The problem with Green Bottle beer is that they are rarely Stored correctly = out of the light, as they get skunky, which is why most beer bottles are brown.
Great point about the green bottles!
