I drink a LOT of this beer and have for many years--like at least 1-2 a night. I've had it in Germany on tap and in the bottle, and had both the 1/2 and 1/3 liter bottles in the US (CA). I find a non-trivial amount of variation between batches, and especially between the large and small bottles. The later are consistently inferior to the large, which might be due to bottling location? I just recently tried the large cans expecting disappointment but was pleasantly surprised. Indeed it was as good as the large bottles and maybe even better. I'll report back after I've had more experience but given a can costs $1 less than a bottle for the same amount it may be my go to version. In any event nothing compares to the real thing in Munich, especially on tap!

A beer pilgrimage to Munich is on my bucket list. Having a fresh pint on tap must be absolutely incredible.
Just had it in a can for the first time and eh, was not as good imo. I like the bottles much more.
