I JUST had this. Its better than their original Hefeweizen. The Hefeweizen is for summer, Hefeweizen Dunkel for winter. May be the best beer ive had from Weinstephaner.
Was hoping you guys would get to this one eventually! I was a little surprised with how highly you rated the Erdinger Dunkel, knowing how much more I liked this one. Happy to see it got the appreciation it deserves.
gonna pick this one up this weekend after watching this! I love their normal weissbier and i like the dunkels i've tried so this one will be next level for sure!
I’ve never tried this one, but everything by Weihenstephaner is good to me. I find it fascinating that your final scores were very complimentary, but there was a slight tinge of disappointment through much of the review because of your positive opinion of their other products.
I think it's better than Erdinger version. Problem is these single bottle beer are more expensive especially now with inflation, some place in my city charge $5.5-6 for one. For that price, it's better to go for the Kobinian which I think is Weihen's best. I'm just less willing to go for single bottle these days when trying to make my money stretch. There's not too many dunkel to choose from for us American. Hofbrauhaus Freising have a 6-pack Dunkel which is pretty decent.
I don’t have many Dunkels at all to choose from here in Canada either. I just recently found the Paulaner Dunkel on a beer pilgrimage and can’t wait to try that one. Alessandro can’t get it in Florida so we can’t review it unfortunately, but I’m hoping to feature it somehow. Maybe in the next beer explorer episode.
That’s a very good question! I’ve seen a 4 digit number printed on bottles of their other beers too. And couldn’t find an expiry date. I tried looking for information online, but no luck.

You’re right, it’s that kind of disappointment that comes from having a bar that’s set extremely high.
