Additionally would you mind describing the style of chiropractic treatment that you practice? How is it different from the Gonstead method?

Sure. I do a mixture of "Diversified", with a heavy heavy dose of Functional Neurology. Functional Neurology takes the aspect that the mechanisms of many injuries are compensations and that when we fix the compensations, the pain tends to go away. For instance, if a person is doing a lot of repetitive lifting down and the the left, and then they have right lower back pain, if we fix the "overcompensation" by "telling the body that it isn't falling over", then the back pain miraculously goes away. You see this system in use when I evaluate eyes as well.

You should talk to me... Hit my head and and had massive eye problems..stupid hospital said i had vertigo ... So i took it that it was ... For over a year i suffered (bad -to point of suicidal thoughts ) until i seen a doctor on utube talking about whiplash and eye problems .. I would love to tell my story to someone /anyone ... Somtimes i would see the world on an angle out of one eye .. I couldnt hold my head up for very long and i went to work to pay bills but the whole year and 3 months i just came home and layed down... The first week my eyes were rolling back and forth and i had to keep them closed or i would vomit within seconds of havin them open ... Vestibular vertigo kinda sounded like what i had but too many other unexplained symptoms made me keep searching for answers ... Whiplash - explained all ... Im still not right but after a good chiropractor took the time to listen to me a few adjustments really helped .. I thought i was goin insane at times because i just couldn't function like a normal person ... Being Misdiagnosed took almost a year and half of my life from me ...

I was in a utv accident the other day...my friend drove it (full acceleration) into a tree. When it happened I was dizzy, nauseous, and I lost my vision for a little bit. There was black dots everywhere. If that makes sense? I’m trying to find out why that happened...cause it freaked me out.

Dr Wellwood, I really appreciate your knowledgeable explanations and scientific approach to what you do. I'm a bit apprehensive about finding a good chiropractor in my area. Would you be able to recommend a chiropractor in the San Francisco Bay Area? Thank you.

Let me do some searching around for you. From what I remember, there are some good "functional neurologists" down there.
