55 years old and still remember the xmas I got the set 918. One of the first sets with custom pieces like the manoeuvring thrusters and landing struts. Like you I had other sets that included the screens and then used them to create my own version of a Thunderbird 2 inspired craft with screen in front of the pilots and between them.
Adam, I'm of a similar age to you, and I grew up in Denmark not far from the original LEGO factory and LEGO-land. While I suspect you and I would differ on many things ideologically and philosophically, this is the kind of thing that bring people together across any divide. I have vivid memories of my first space LEGO sets and in particular these little computer screen pieces. Thank you for the memories 😃
I’m 27 years younger than he is and cannot describe the nostalgia bomb of seeing that radar screen brick again! I still remember their matte texture, so funny.
Oh wow, those printed computer tiles are beautiful! I'll be 55 this year, so I'm not too far behind you, and my interest in LEGO peaked right about the same time. I loved how simple the graphics on them were, and how they represented both the past (the Apollo missions) and the future (what we could have accomplished if that program had continued).
I totally understand where Adam’s coming from. I love seeing all of the neat little prints that LEGO has made over the years pop up in so many different sets. It’s so cool to see just how much use you can get out of a single design.
I was lucky enough to inherit a lot of early space Lego from my cousin in the late 80s. They're still some of my favourite sets. Such a great era for Lego.
Adam and I are about the same age, and boy does this hit me right in the feels! I created my own little fleet of lego fighter planes using these control panels. would have pretend dog fights (ala Baa Baa Blacksheep) and paint victory markings on the side of the fighters....it was a whole world inside my basement and head. Is it just me or does Gollum jump into your mind every time Adam says "precious"? Not to mention I can totally imagine Adam, by himself at night in the cave, holding one of these legos and talking to it like Gollum would talk to the ring. :)
Can confirm having gotten hands-on with the printed parts by Brick Rock Press that they are everything you hope they could be! They have so many other prints, too. So cool. And yeah i totally wanna try the lighted and printed version.
Oh man, serious nostalgia. Those old grey space LEGOS were my absolute favorite, as a kid in the 80s, and those computer screen bricks were absolutely crucial for any space ship design.
This jogged some very fond memories of my childhood. My personal favorite Lego brick/piece are the 1990's era knight armors. Thank you Adam for a lifetime of interesting content, you truly are the GOAT.❤
These were precious! I grew up in exactly the same era and was addicted to Lego. Every time I got a new one of these it would be the centerpiece of some new build. Often I would pull just that piece out of an existing build to use it in a new one. Upon seeing that radar one I immediately thought of a helicopter build (Airwolf) I did that it would have been perfect in.
Grinning like a maniac at those monitor bricks. I hadn't thought about them for probably thirty years, but I knew exaactly what they were and where they go.
Awesome video Adam! We didn’t have enough LEGO computer pieces either so my parents took the sticker sheet from my Star Wars Millennium Falcon and applied them on to some of our Vintage window pieces from the 1975 London Bus set. I still have some of them left in my collection!
This was a joyful episode for me. So many of my favorite things, Lego computer screens and of course the jubilant Adam. I share your child-like joy of Lego. PLEASE share your control room build when you are building it. Will it be a NASA launch control room????
Memories. We lived in Germany in the late 1970s. LL924 and LL928 are still assembled and at my parents house. I scanned the space logo and made shirts for my two boys and me (long before Sheldon wore one).
Excellent choice. I used to make little robots with these sorts of pieces back in the day! Just put a hinge at the back of a normal and inverted one underneath and you can move the head! These days they do little tilt tiles with screens on too.
YES!!! I had a bunch of those old late 70s Lego space sets. Too cool! Back in the golden years when they relied on their own designs instead of everything being licenced IP.
53 here. The computer brick was my favourite, and now I'm a spacecraft operations engineer. I print waterslide transfers to make personalised Minifigure astronauts for my team.

Finally someone else expressed his love for exactly these lego bricks! I just knew I couldn't be the only one!
Loved these as a kid. They were the most valuable pieces of my collection in the early 80’s
This jogged some very fond memories of my childhood. My personal favorite Lego brick/piece are the 1990's era knight armors. Thank you Adam for a lifetime of interesting content, you truly are the GOAT.❤
EXACTLY ! You captured how excited I was about those when they came out !!!
I sat for hours as a kid, everyday making Lego projects whilst listening to the radio putting out awesome 80s tunes. Happy memories there.
Oh yeah the classic space computer blocks! Always loved those too. Good pick.
Still have all my Lego from the 70s and eighties.
AWWWW THIS IS TOO WHOLESOOOOME!!!😭🥹👍👍
This is pretty awesome ❤
Having my own kids now really makes me appreciate how cool Legos still are
From back when LEGO was still good. Good memories of a 90s childhood.
Loved this!
Love these. I was the same as a kid in the 80s and early 90s and the computer screens were the ones I was always scared of loosing around the house.
Grinning like a maniac at those monitor bricks. I hadn't thought about them for probably thirty years, but I knew exaactly what they were and where they go.
Those were absolutely my favorites for starting a build when I was a kid!
When I saw the title, I thought "ohh, Adam would love James Brown's work". I'm so happy to see his work getting more attention, it's so amazing.
I print waterslide transfers to make personalised Minifigure astronauts for my team.
bless this channel, a perfect video just for me
Those are also my favorite bricks! And those custom ones are sweet! 🤤
