    As a native german speaker you did infact pronounce Pfefferminz really well

    • @sarwadsarwad
      @sarwadsarwad 10 часов назад +1

      Almost perfectly. Was really caught off guard. Only missing the "e" at the end, which americans generally dont pronounce at the end of a word. (i.e. Porsh (instead of Porsch"e"). Still really good.

    • @green64
      @green64 9 часов назад +3

      @@sarwadsarwad Pfefferminz without "e" is not wrong, we use both too. i case of candy Pfefferminz ist use more often. "Pfefferminzbonbons"

    • @fgregerfeaxcwfeffece
      @fgregerfeaxcwfeffece 9 часов назад

      Yup, half the time Americans try to pronounce German it sounds they are trying to summon something from a Lovecraft story and I have to turn on subtitles.
      Not the case this time.

    • @iblackfeathers
      @iblackfeathers 4 часа назад

      i find this a bit peculiar in that americans don't necessarily nitpick how germans pronounce english words. yet the reverse is true.

    • @sarwadsarwad
      @sarwadsarwad 3 часа назад

      @green64 that is true and an oversight on my part. Just generally more used to its beeing Pfefferminze, when referring to it. But Pfefferminz is perfectly viable!

    Because of how old these may be and the way that PEZ dispensers work I might have done a lot more physical wearing on the tail of the duck like someone had opened the head over and over throughout the years. I feel like by then the tail would have been almost rounded off the way the center of a wooden stair tread gets after years and years of foot traffic. Maybe the same goes for the crown of the head and the tip of the beak. Thoughts?

    1: i absolutely love watching you work on this, tis calming, instructful, and filled with your joy for the art
    2: am i the only person who tries to like… imagine what materials would come into contact/stick to a thing in which places first, then try to mimic those actions on a more massive scale?
    3: a nice way to represent the wear of pockets (that i have found anyway) is to get a sack cloth big enough to wrap around the object, and if possible flip back on itself, then drop the item in and use you hands on the outside to roll the item around inside, and shake it around a while. If it was more in a junk box/drawer then additionally throw a few nuts and bolts and various other random bits into the bag with it

    I used to own a workshop with a quite rough concrete floor. Using that surface to rough up my copper and silver plates, hammering those with a rubber or rawhide mallet on the floor. Then flatten them a bit with those hammers. Also scratching stuff on that floor worked great.

    It’s interesting to think about if plastic would be as yellow in the silo since the indoor lights emit much less UV than the sun. The only area where you’d see a lot of UV would be the farms

    Adam, you've toughed a nerve. I knew a guy who had a tattoo of a Pez dispenser with his face on top. And... one time I was drinking beer with a young lady from Austria, and this kind of drunk guy came over to our picnic table. We were friendly to him, and after he learned she was from Austria he said, "I've heard the surfing there is great!" She was bewildered. After he left I explained that he had confused Australia with Austria, and she laughed and laughed.

    Neat lesson in weathering. As a long ago kid model builder I have wondered about such. Trivia question: I thought a McGuffin (for Silo) was more like the disk drive - something that drives the plot. The Duckie Pez could have been anything else - a troll doll for instance.

    The ducky on cabinet at 24:07 has brownish line on cheek and lengthwise near top blue base those marks remind me of fine point or precision point sharpies. But didn't see Adam apply those marks so was that done after? Or was the ducky on cabinet simply touched up by someone else, or is another dispenser weathered by someone else?

    With the weathering fluids, does it ever make sense to let them dry before wiping them so that it imparts a more subtle weathering on the flat parts that wiping-while-wet cleans up perhaps too well?
    I know you said time is of the essence, But I'm supposing a professional would work on a bunch of props that need similar treatment so as to parallelize their work and allow to longer steps like drying to occur while working on other objects in the pipeline.

    I wonder if you could make a rotating drum filled with denim impregnated with grit (like REALLY full of it... smallish cut up patches), and fill it with dirty water (greasy, muddy, whatever). Then put in 30 Pez dispensers and rotate it for a day while you go away and do other stuff. Kind of like a set it and forget it simulation of being in a pocket for years, to multitask. Just an idea.
