At 4:11 - Adam is using a tool called a Whitney punch (made in Rockford, Illinois for decades). It is like a pair of pliers used to quickly punch nice clean accurate round holes in sheet metal. It's generally a lot better than using a drill which can cause unfixed sheets of sharp edged metal from becoming a spinning buzz saw (ask me how I know) not to mention ragged holes. The Whitney kit comes with six dies to punch various size holes. NICE!
Off subject from the gauntlet - that slate is really becoming quite the artifact... The layers and layers of tape being representations of all the projects you've done on this show is really beautiful. I imagine peeling them back like a paleontologist and discovering/remembering past builds... Of course I'd never do that because again, artifact.
Just wanted to let folks at Tested know that your videos are informative and inspirational. I am a newbie scale modeling hobbyist and your build videos have helped me so much!
Here is the subtiles for this video in case youtube's aren't working: "Shshshshhshshshshshshsh shshshsh shshshshshh shhhhhhhhh, shshshhs hshshshshhshsh..." You're welcome.
while I love watching this, and admire the skill and dedication - and even realise that it is more about the process than the end result - but I would just buy a laser cutter and do it on that - I would never have the time/patience to do this manually.
It's so weird having Adam mention Clickspring... because their philosophies couldn't be more different: a clockmaker chasing zeroes and jewel movements, using stones to polish to a high sheen and allow near-frictionless rotation... meanwhile Adam, "... looks good; on to the next bit!" The engineer who makes art, and the artist who uses engineering.
Man this could be the best right time. I'm currently making Captain America Shield and Thor's hammer and after that I thinking about making Thanos Gauntlet now this can help me lot
I've been making brass art with a piercing saw for 3 years now and I will never switch to a scroll saw. Without using a piercing saw you can't appreciate how good they are for this sort of work
Yeah, sometimes precision happens slowly. When I rush, whether it's just me or a power tool, i get less precise. Luckily I enjoy tedious jobs in the shop. It's my happy place.
Had to come back to say I’m going back over your sound myth segments recently and, leave a message on sounds you are probably familiar with but , are magnificent for the 2085 Six million dollar man.
Hello Adam. Honest question, if there are CNC and laser cuts process to make easy the cutting of brass pieces. Why do you prefer to do it by hand? I assume it's about enjoying the path as well as the result. love your videos. help me a lot in my workflow.
Out of curiosity, at the 30 minute mark in the video, how come are you trying to grind to the line with the template on the underside, it seems to me you could just flip it and you would have clearance from the grinder and you could see what you are doing... I am probably wrong but I'm not the one doing the work.
Adam being a huge fan in actual metal armor wants to likely make an infinity gauntlet as it is in the MCU, not an exact copy prop of the film used ones. Even a master armorer has knowledge on making metal armor and could help with a gauntlet,
The part of the video that keeps throwing me is it looks like Adam is filing on the pull stroke of the files. I know that works on the diamonds but it didn't look like all of those are diamond files. is someone offering mini files that cut on the pull stroke that I'm not aware of?
7:37 that's because of two reasons, Adam. 1. most of these saws suck and you have to make them work, not expect them to work. Tolerances, proper blades, proper pincers (where the blades go) etc. 2. you're not patient enough to use one. ;) Slow down 40~50% and even the worst saw is ... ok. Well, maybe not the most common ones, but for the most part, they're decent enough to use. One tell is, if you're bending the blade, you're asking too much. To use both the jeweler's saw and the scroll saw is an exercise in patience, unfortunately. That's why i like wire saws more. Same results, but you don't really have to be patient. Caveat: pricey as.
I've understood fret and coping saws to be fixed and piercing saws to be adjustable - does anyone else know? I don't do jewelry so no idea which they favor, but I'd guess piercing makes a lot of sense for jewelry?
how lazy can you be? what is this video supposed to be? filler, how do you think this is entertaining? like holy this series has gone downhill. im disappointed, gonna block the channel if this is whats offered.

Reminds me of a punch you would use to make new holes in a belt
So many good things come out of Rockford. The Whitney Punch, The (Goodyear) Pimps and Cheap Trick, just to name a few.
I completely understand the tedium, and satisfaction of working with hand tools, but this seems like a job for a water jet.

We're becoming quite attached to the slate.
Another video to get me out of my creative stump. Having a video like this on while you work is an absolute secret weapon
Same! I'm a software developer, and programming with Adam Savage building something in the background is just zen.
What a lovely sentiment. Thank you.

Oh, thanks so much for letting us know. What a kind comment. Thank you!
The sound of the coping saw is somehow both grating and quite relaxing to listen to as i work.
Ah, another long-form video for strategic co-working! Thank you, Adam.
The music at 5:54 sounds like the airport take off scene from The Fifth Element
Using a block of bees wax to lubricate the blade will help it cut even easier as well as give you a bit more life out of each blade.

And yet they really are mutual fans!
I wholeheartedly agree!!!
The Hot Toys life size Infinity Gauntlet is absolutely incredible
Thank you for the video Adam - better than watching a quick laser-cutting
Exactly my thoughts, the efforts, just to avoid a clear laser-cut.
Good to see you using that jewelers saw properly!
There's something strangely satisfying watching Adam Savage make something without dialogue and just the noises from the tools
Something about the segment in real time is so satisfying
Tony is such a Great guy!
This is some detailed brassmanship
Amazing Amazing Awesome
Adam looks very healthy in this video. Whatever he is doing, it is working!
Wait, is he ill beyond that otosclerosis?
He looks a bit slimmer in my eyes, might be what OP's refering to.
@ Nothing specific. He just looks really good!
Inspiring work as always.
Thanks for the siren warning
Man this could be the best right time. I'm currently making Captain America Shield and Thor's hammer and after that I thinking about making Thanos Gauntlet now this can help me lot
Sounds like Quest for Fire.🔥 😂 👏🥢🧎♂️ A masterpiece movie .
I gotta get me one of those jeweler's saws.
This is Gonna be beautiful 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've bent a few blades before never broke one though. Awesome video sir
Thank you.
Ohhhhh yeah! Been commenting on Alec Steeles channel that he chould build it.
But nice to see you do it 😀

I did this build in brass a few years ago. Free template on my website.
Wow snap
"I am inevitable."
"And I... am... Savage.."
*snaps fingers*

hell yeah

Six million dollar man.
Adam, that saw looks cool, but for projects with a lot of cutting, you might want to get a traditional jeweler's saw, which is thin and lightweight.
are you put all infinity stone one the Infinity Gauntlet?
Adam just raw dogging sheet metal with bare hands again. :)
7:04 Appreciate the pop up but it should've come a few seconds earlier
ASMR for makers.
I'm thinking someone needs a laser cutter :)

Who makes the files Adam uses in this video? They are far more effective than the ones I have used.

Yes but when will the vault door build continue?
Yes, we'll remind Adam LOL. We don't disagree!
I’m confused I worked on infinity war and end game and the gauntlet was 3D printed and recast and make in fiberglass? We never had a metal one?
Adam being a huge fan in actual metal armor wants to likely make an infinity gauntlet as it is in the MCU, not an exact copy prop of the film used ones. Even a master armorer has knowledge on making metal armor and could help with a gauntlet,
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a power tool that looks more like it wants to kill you than that hand held band saw that Adam mounted on the stand.
i know its not to adam's taste, but is there any reason you couldn't do this on a cnc or laser?
Next acquisition: a laser cutter
Oh cool, last year I sent Adam a mind stone that I faceted from a hyperfluorescent lab garnet. I wonder what he'll do for the gems on this.

Is Adam turning into Eitri the dwarf?
Filing, Filing , Filing 😂
Malayali,s coming❤
But where is the vault door?
Yes, we'll remind Adam!
Great music. Who's the band?
We just use Jinglepunks for our music library.
I wonder how many milligrams of gold are gone from your wedding band?
Given the theme of the piece you're working on, wouldn't it be more appropriate to call it a "Skrull Saw"? *guffaw*
Our of all people, I would think you would have a cnc machine
I've understood fret and coping saws to be fixed and piercing saws to be adjustable - does anyone else know? I don't do jewelry so no idea which they favor, but I'd guess piercing makes a lot of sense for jewelry?
That manual saw thing looks way too tiring, not to mention hello hand cramps.
Not a video for the audibly faint of heart lol
shouldn't you be using PPE when operating a bandsaw 😨😨😨
Ummmmmmmmmmm i literally know zero people who wear anything except maybe safety glasses.
He was - eye protection .
Adam also wears a hearing aid , probably turned down .
What other PPE were you thinking of ?
34 minutes, ain't nobody got time for that.
how lazy can you be? what is this video supposed to be? filler, how do you think this is entertaining? like holy this series has gone downhill. im disappointed, gonna block the channel if this is whats offered.
I love the zoom in only to hide what you are doing behind your fingers anyway lol
