  • I'm not a big fan of storyboards, but when I have to do them I prefer to keep them as simple and easy to use as possible.
When I found Freeform, I was previously using Photoshop and drawing on my HUION tablet with like 4 cords to connect every time. It worked, but it made me have to be home to use it and it was a pain in the ass if the drawing pen wasn't charged or if I wasn't home to use it.
This isn't a full tutorial on the app, but it is a tutorial on my personal process that I use each and every time. So keep that in mind.

I made this video because I felt it could be helpful for those of you who don't want to spend any extra money on apps, but still want to have simple and convenient software.
For the longest time, I always overcomplicated my storyboarding process, and I hope that this video can help you guys simplify it as it has helped me.

Just found this video. Ive done 5 storyboards with my iPad and Freeform but spend too much time making it perfect. I like your approach. I think I’ll try it again your way. Thx!

Perfectionism is awesome, and I am a perfectionist myself. But something I practiced and learn to let go up, is my need for things to be perfect, if I want things to be efficient. definitely awesome to hear that. You can acknowledge that and are working on it too. Definitely let me know how this helps to work for long-term if you're still doing that.

Thanks for posting this! Freeform has the look and feel of Notability (a note taking app) which I love… subscribed, will watch for more of your content!

Dope man. Go for it. Just a different method but hopefully takes the process and simplifies it a bit.

What’s the tool you use to shade the background?

Not sure what it was called. But I believe it was the paintbrush, or the paint bucket tool.
