  • I collected this water specimen at Beaver Lake, located in Asheville, North Carolina. I let the water sit in a sunny window for a few days and found this abundance of life. The large long yellow microbes are called Spirostomum. They are a unicellular microbe. There is a large paramecium as well. I used the Swift 380T Trinocular microscope, and an attached Sony a7rIII camera for the filming. This is videoed using the Dark Field technique which uses reflected light to illuminate the subject and give a dark background.
