Get that like button a quick smash - you'll know why if you made it to the end of the video! Also - any feedback on reviews? How can I make them even better in the future?
Quick question, im considering getting a 16-35 gmaster in the near future, also for filming next to photos. Im pretty sure you got one of these, so 1. is the 16-35 any good (im sure it is but yeah, just asking) 2. shall i get this new 35mm for portraits as well even if i have the 16-35? Like, is there more to it than "just" being 1.4 instead of 2.8?
Loved the Review! I didn't have any info that I was looking for that you did not cover!! I think its perfect; Short and too the point! which is what people want... not a 20 minute review video dissecting each and every function/feature! ---- What is your email for business inquiries?
@@torbenmayer It is such a great lens, I love it. But bear in mind it's Heavy AF. I went from the Tamron 17-28 to the 16-35GM and there is a considerable difference. You get what you pay for. :)
@@JoshGudgeon Thanks mate, appreciate your comment. I hate it when lenses are heavy, but that ill have to go through. To bad I don't want to kick the 20mm sigma 1.4 art out of my bag, that weighs in with 1 whole kg, but it's also a good lens. Would've loved to see the rumored 16mm from sony coming this year with 1.4 instead of 1.8 :x
Chris, I love your videos. You have helped me launch my business as a photographer and videographer. It's great that you're doing reviews, but what could you bring to a review that no one else could? For example: what if you actually did a client job with the lens and showed us what difference it makes for that particular project? Or maybe you could explain why a professional would want a prime lens over -- say -- a f2.8 24-70. Why is the prime lens better? Your expertise as someone who runs a business creating things is why I watch your channel; I would love that expertise to play a larger roll in your reviews.
and yes, 2:17 is when I, also, pressed "Like".
Your awsome dude! I was just about to start doing research on this lense! Thanks for all the hard work that goes into these videos
Great Review and Overview! Love seeing the side by side photo comparisons you do in thisvideo. Thank you for sharing!
Amazing review!! It gives me everything I needed to know about the lens and that Sony lens is a beast!
Great review video. Love the creativity and the knowledge you told us about that lens!
the section intros on the a typewriter is so cool!
on the review side though I think it's a solid laydown of the tradeoffs without getting too technical. it's such a tempting lens! especially on a full frame camera!
Love that Lens! Definitely going to try to pick one up for my next fashion film!
Chris, I sincerely appreciate your content and have for a while. I refer you to many friends who are interested in photography. Keep up the great work man, I’ve got nothing critical to say.
Hey Chris great review! The only thing that I can say to add are timestamps to help us know exactly what subject you're on and so it's easier to jump around the video. Also those intro cinematics are 🔥 :)
2:17 is when I pressed 'like'
I defintiely just went and reloaded the video to see what happened at 2:17... Love when peoples personality shines through into their videos! PRICELESS~~
Great video Chris! 🙏🏽
What’s up Chris! You wanted some input so here is mine :)
I love the reviews but something I’d also love to see from you is vlogs. Once or twice a week would be awesome! I’ve got that bell on so I know when you post. Keep up the amazing work. It’s always a highlight of my day 🤙
Awesome review man! Gonna be up at 5 am mountain time tomorrow to order this lol
Man You Just Killed It With The Pause .
Super Creative And PERFECTLY TIMED .
Love Your Work !😊
Hau Did You Make The Custom Typewriter Cuts btw?
I don’t mean to state the obvious but..... They have a typewriter. They filmed as they typed the words. They used this footage for cut scenes.
Thank you for such a good explanation
The cinematic shots are sick
This lens is dope, thanks for the video...
Class review Chris. We know we're paying for we G Master and worth the investment in my opinion. Awsome as always!
Great review homie
Fast AF 😂 Love the video!
I’m actually pretty happy with the tiny Sony 35mm 1.8. Packs a punch, especially for the price
Great video! You sold me with your entertaining, fact-based demonstration, and professional insight!
I LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW... You are the first person that has shown me this lens!!! THANK YOU
:)
Been waiting on a new 35mm finally!
Hey Chris trying to decide between 24mm vs 35mm!? Any recommendation?
The next GMaster lens have to be the 50mm 1.4, so the G-Master family is complete ^^
FACTS!
Or an update of the 85 to an 85 1.2 and silent
@@albert0b20 or still 1.4, lighter/smaller, silent focusing and faster focusing,,, it'd be great.
Looks sick! Honestly so tough to beat Sigma at those price points though, I recently upgraded to an a7iii and bought Sigma's new 85mm 1.4 and it's a BEAST.
Hey man, love the vids. Just bought your lightroom presets and use them primarily for automotive photography for personal use.... wow I love them man! Do you have a video going through editing your photos AFTER applying the presets. I'm fairly new to lightroom, and while the presets alone are amazing, I'd love to understand better how to tweak the photos after applying a preset! Keep up the good content man!
That GM is SICK!!! I need one!
Nice review, I went for the FE 35 1.8 for video, less focus breath and half the price.
Brand new Sony 35 f1.4. Loved it
I have a question about the LED lights behind your shelf?. I just bought some from Lowes andI have some pretty nasty flickering when I'm filming. How does one get rid of that. I am shooting on a sony a7iii with a ATOMOS Ninja V. Is their a particular frame rate or CODEC or a particular LED that does not cause flicker. Thanks
Hey Chris, you can compare images, even the same side:side when zoomed in by using the C key in Lightroom for 'compare'. Cheers.
If you already have a 24-70GM, should you look at this just for a prime??
this is a MUST cop
I went with the Sony f/1.8 because of a Gerald Undone video saying it was the one to pick before. This lens looks SICK though, might upgrade.
Excellent review and comparison. I feel so much more confident in my purchase. I love those blue lights in the back! Where do you get those?
great video dude.
I’ve literally been thinking about getting a 35 mm lens for my Sony and wasn’t a fan of the Ziess for it’s price and weight compared to the sigma, but I can swallow the price of this GM one 👀 Cheers
Chris or anyone else... i have the sony a9 & want to get into filming fast action, i have the 135 g master aswell as the tamron 70-180 and this new 35mm is a lens i have been waiting on.
When chris says the fastest focus settings in the camera, whst settings specifically is he talking about?? Im clueless with video. Right now, i just want to nail a dog sprinting at me in focus. Would it be better to stop down from the 1.8?
Any in camera settings such as the ideal focus modes etc would be really appreciated. I have the dji rsc2 incoming shortly for the stabilisation.
Cheers
lol the outro was comedy 😂
Great! 24mm hoodie reviewing a 35mm. How does it perform compared to the cheaper 1.8 ?
Im a mobile phone videographer but id love to try using some cameras like this.

Nice work on the video and as always keep up the great work One thing Mr H the scales don’t agree with what you said in the video ;)
Great video! Whenever you said "bokeh ball" I heard "pokèball" lol
Hey, I've been looking to get either this one or the 24mm gm, which one would you say is better technically?
Chris ... what is on your wall behind the desk? @ about 7:21
a car
Woo! Go Vancouver!
Awesome! 🤟
02:19 my Gearheart: "stop doing that, right now!"
Lovely lens
Hey Chris not to bring up old wounds but I'd really like to see you do an update vid on your stolen camera bag. How you went about repurchasing new or used gear? Did you borrow it from Lizzie did anybody ever return it? Love your work sad to see this office go but excited about the new home office!
Will I get more from the 24-70 gm than the 35mm gm which is best
I live for you're reviews, but I like the double reviewing with lizze
Would you honestly recommend the sigma 35mm f1.4 to people though? Are you not aware Sigma is coming out with a newer shorter 35mm f1.4 similar to their newer 85mm? The old 35/85 sigmas are just the canon lenses with built in MC11s but the new ones have aperture control and are actually true E-mount
I saw a review by you and clicked like
me: *nothing*
chris: bokeh balls
me: what did you just say
Are you able to review other camera brands???????? that would be cool. I always recommend our videos to other photographers when they have questions. All of you dope squad boys and lizzie basically taught me how to photography from the first week I got a camera and still today. So, thank you!
When you said bokeh ball I heard poke bowl and now I’m hungry.
P.s. great review!!
How the heck did you make that thumbnail background. It's SS tier.
What about the new Sigma 35mm f1.2?
i hope they make some day a 50mm like this new 35mm and the 24
Hey Chris.. watch your back ;)
35mm/f1.4 Is there any lens more ideal? Great review man!
Good review but why everyone now slander Zeiss 35. I think it is still very good lens with specific character. Chromatic aberrations can easy repair in LR and can only be seen at 100% zoom. Today you can buy it used for around 800 Euro. I think it is good price.
2:41 I guess the second one was shot on the g master
what about the sony 35mm F/1.8 ? Somes tests say it's better value than the SIGMA...
2:18 😂Oy Chris,never make music
I pressed the like button!
I like it too
The second one!
CHRIS!! Where did you get that hoodie? I NEED TO KNOW!!
Upgrade the 16-35mm f4 to the 2.8 or upgrade the 35mm 1.8 to the GM that's the question?
Nice..
Pls make a video on how to talk confidently on camera like you do
First photo is the G-master?
can you please compare it to the sigma 35mm f1.2, because the two are the same price
Haha! Cool len.✌️
Is that at The Epcot Centre at 9:03 Chris?
If you had to pick one between the 24GM and the 35GM, which would you pick?
I think 35 is more versatile.
it doesn't have Haptic feed back on the aperture ring lol! It is a physical click not a simulated click.
I'm going with photo number 2
How about the focus breathing
this vs the 24MM GM? Your personal preference? BTW, I'm enjoying your style. Subscribed.
The 2nd picture
For film makers, that lens has far too much focus breathing for the price tag, which makes it not a perfect lens.
I wonder if some of the lenses are different, not all reviewers mention this
@@KZLR I’m not sure but for the price I just hope they knew what they were doing
Totally agree. You can quickly see that. Unless you do the manual focus. No doubt its a serious issue. May be on sony a 7iv its not bad due to some feature on the camera.
Great
What about the Sigma 35mm 1.2? It’s their newest 35, I think it would be more fair to compare it with that one.
It is important to take in consideration that he is promoting or advertising the new 35mm f1.4 from Sony...if you compare it with the Sigma f1.2 at the same price, you go all the way for Sigma, and he knows it...
@@rafaelrecio3446 well sigma is actually like 100 more if I am not mistaken. But one could be sharper than the other 😂
How do you think the Sigma compares to the Sony 1.8?
Why not using the Sony 24mm 1.4 GM in crop Mode on a Sony A7R4? Same FOV and the 24mm 1.4 is more versatile.
I was thinking the same thing.
Wonder if the sharpness and over image quality is similar? Hmm ...
Watch your back mate ;-)
Why isnt this review done in your new home office! I'm sad now :( just joking :D keep up the great work Chris!
Lovely lens 👌 I filmed a whole short film only with this lens - would love to hear your thoughts.
Incredible, all Sony 35 1.4 reviews from 15 influencers come out the same day and all are honest :D. Search sony 35 1.4 guys :). Btw I'm a Sony user, but this influencing is really pathetic, it's unfluencing me totally!
Watch your back :)
Lemon bokeh: Like
Cat eye bokeh: Comment
Now I want one. Lol.
Which is sharper?tamron or sony?
You advised your viewers that the lens is plastic. All the resources I reviewed stated that it's magnesium alloy.
