Predator 2 is a 1990 American science fiction action film[3] written by brothers Jim and John Thomas, directed by Stephen Hopkins, and starring Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Ruben Blades, María Conchita Alonso, Bill Paxton, and Kevin Peter Hall. It is the second installment of the Predator franchise, and sequel to 1987's Predator, with Kevin Peter Hall reprising the title role of the Predator.

I know this film catches a lot of criticism but I’ve always thought it was a great sequel. An actual Alien skull on the trophy room was the best Easter Egg ever
We agree! I think just coming off the masterpiece that was the first one it was a real tall order but in retrospect, this movie has moved up the ranks in a lot of peoples' eyes!

BEST PREDATOR SEQUEL EVER MADE!
This was one of the first movies to receive the NC 17 rating for the strong graphic violence that was cut from the movie.
List of deleted scenes that were filmed but cut from the movie:
El Scorpio's body disappears from the morgue, presumably taken by Keyes for study. This can be found in the original script.
Ramon Vega actually survived the massacre of the City Hunter Predator slaughtering the Jamaicans in a warehouse. Harrigan and his team find Vega, alive but in shock. This can be found in the original script.
Jerry follows Keyes and his men from the hospital to the helicopter pad, where they take Ramon's mistress for interrogation. This can be found in the original script.
Harrigan does get fired from the police force after feeling guilty over Danny's murder, but gets reinstated as Danny's murder was accident. This can be found in the script.
Keyes threatens Harrigan to have him fired from the police force if he ever interferes with his crime scenes.
Jerry Lambert's backstory can be found in the novelization as his partner was killed while trying to stop a bank robbery, while Jerry took down the robbers, which explains why ue was transferred to Metro Command.
Keyes' men follow Harrigan through the streets but they aren't they only ones as the City Hunter Predator follows him but stops by a taxidermy store, where he enters the establishment and touches a stuffed lion, a jogger sees the creature, but thinks it was a mirage from the heat. The Predator leaves the store. Scripted but never filmed.
Keyes explains to Harrigan that Dutch disappeared into the jungle after escaping from an Army hospital. Deleted from the final cut.
Anna from the first film tells Keyes that the Predator was hunting Dutch and his men lile it was a game. Deleted from the final cut.
Ramon's mistress tells Keyes that the Predator was a demon from hell that killed all the Jamaicans. Deleted from the final cut.
King Willie's death was a lot different than the final cut:
In the original script, he uses a gold plated Uzi as his main weapon and fires at the City Hunter Predator on a fire escape, he empties 50 rounds, then slaps another clip into the Uzi, but runs out of ammo, then uses a sword as his secondary weapon. The Predator jumps down, 10 feet in front of him and says, "You can't see the eyes of the demon, until him come calling," imitating Willie's voice.
The original ending was very different: Rather than Harrigan kill the City Hunter Predator, it was the Elder Predator Greyback who kills the City Hunter by decapitating him and gave Harrigan the Flintlock pistol before he leaves the ship before it flies off into the sky.

Predator was directed by the same guy who did Die Hard.
This was Kevin Peter Hall final appearance acting as The Predator before his untimely death in 1991 he performed tremendously in Predator 1 & 2. He played The Jungle Hunter, The City Hunter and The Elder (GreyBack) who give Danny Glover character the flintlock pistol.
Don’t forget he was Harry in Harry and the Hendersons.
cami, this movie and the first one and Total Recall and the first 3 Die Hard movies are sort of all in the same type of feel

Predator isn't really a predator, it's a hunter that hunts for sport. It only goes after those it sees as a threat or challenge. That's why in the first movie it never attacked the woman (and Arnie realised this and told her to drop the weapon). It started tracking Mike because he was always being a badass tracking bad guys. He made himself a target.
Sad thing is, if Danny hadn't have drawn his gun when the Predator got him upside down, it might not have killed him. But the moment he was actively armed he became a threat. As you said with the pregnant woman, it has a code. Random fact that I didn't realise until today; the guy who plays Danny plays Daniel is Fear The Walking Dead 😱

Hey girl! Shout from the US Marine Corps! When I was a kid I took martial arts since I was 7 and sword training since I was 13 and I use to think I was the predator. I use to dress up like a ninja all the time and people would hate playing hide go seek with me because they could never find me! I use to actually make that clicking ticking sound like the predator does with my tongue! All the time! I had a poster of the predator in my bedroom and it explained what all the different parts of him were. So I'm really excited to see you watch this movie! 15:33 This isn't the same Predator/Yautja from the first movie. That was the "Jungle Hunter" that nuked itself... this is the "City Hunter". Most Yatjua fight with a Code Of Honor where they won't attack unarmed or pregnant women but this Yautja engages more offensively because it's not the same alien. It also seems to like the thrill of battle more and is more ballsy by taking on group fights several times where the the "Jungle Hunter" played it safe with 1 on 1 ambush style kills.

It’s not a “Code of Honour”, it’s a reference to the universal rule of hunters that they do not kill pregnant females or the young. This is to maintain a sufficient prey-pool for future hunts… just as the fisherman throws back both pregnant and young fish.
@@BlueShadow777Oh so they got morals or kind of like a code of honor?... thanks for clearing that up for me. Also there are billions of people and even more fish. Hunters aren't worried about low numbers. Even when something is in lower numbers hunters will hunt something to extinction or close(can't find them anymore) and history has proven this.

By the way Rubén Blades as danny and María Conchita Alonso as leona both are very famous in latin America as a singers. Though it looks cheaper, it's actually a perfect sequel. It didn't rely too much on the mistery because we already know the concept. It shows more of what the predator can do. It shows a hunter with a different hunting style, more psychological. It gives more insights into the culture of these aliens without overdoing. It has a cool easter egg. It shows how being a buffed superman is not the right trait to beat a predator, you just have to be resourceful, persistent, and lucky.
Prey on the other hand... That was a disaster for a multitude of reasons that will take too much time and space to discuss.
if you can fix the blurry problem, Hudson Hawk is a funny action movie

I think everyone pretty much agrees on P2 - it's a good film, but not a patch on the original. Shame you could only see half of it "I'm just going to look away" lol, but glad you stuck with it...I forgot Bill Paxton was in this one - as actors go, I always enjoyed everything he was in and always seemed a likeable guy - definitely an actor I miss. Looking forward to your "Prey" reaction next, I really enjoyed that movie - one of the better Predator franchise movies. 👍😃

No… not “everyone”. Look at them in comparison. P2 = much better acting, better script, considerably less infused with corny cliches. Overall P2 is a much better film than the original. Having said that, although I present the indisputable evidence, it does boil down to a matter of personal taste.
The gun is taken from a pirate Raphael Adolini in 1715 who teamed up with the Grey Back species of Predator against the Pirates who tried to kill him over the Treasures' after Raphael and The Predator killed the Pirates they then both went Head to Head in Battle and Raphael lost and that predator took his Gun' and then gave it to the Cop as a sign of Respect for killing one of their Predators in battle as a trophy for a Warrior.

The Xenomorph skull in the ship trophy room was just a joke since both creatures are owned by FOX. It sparked the imaginations of dozens of artists and writers. The original Alien vs, Predator or AVP comic kicked off in 92' and continued till 2014. There are still new comics but the original run was the most memorable. The movie was in production hell for over a decade. What we got in 2004 was meh. I highly recommend you check out the trade hard cover.
About this film, the Yaujia are drawn by heat and conflict. Where the best warriors are to be found. The pistol at the end of the movie was a tease for a third film. Predator 1715 A prequel set in the spanish main. The clan leader in this movie known as "Greyback" centuries years younger and is hunting a Pirate Captain named Raphel Adolini. The movie was never made, but was adapted into a comic under the same name.

Come on, Predator’s sparing of the pregnant woman its nothing to with a ‘code of conduct’ as such. It’s the universal rule of all hunters not to kill the pregnant female and the ‘children’ of the species because it allows more of the same species to be ‘produced’ for future hunts. For example, the fisherman who throws the caught young back into the water, as well as the pregnant fish.
Actually it’s both for yes future generations for the hunt but to kill the unborn has no honor.

It started out as a shot of downtown LA. 1055 West 7th especially stands out to me. But they added some matte-painted buildings and cranes.

Great reaction Cami like always, for me in my humble opinion i didnt like this one, and there are some fun facts about it. The film got given the green light after the Predator comic book was so successful All these years later, 1987’s Predator is widely regarded as one of the greatest sci-fi action movies ever made, but the film wasn’t actually that big a hit on release. After being met with lukewarm reviews, director John McTiernan’s film made less than $99 million at the global box office - hardly a flop, but not exactly blockbuster money. Patrick Swayze and Steven Seagal were the first actors approached to play Danny Glover’s part. The crew discovered a dead body while shooting, Shooting in downtown LA after sunset threw up a number of challenges for filmmakers, reportedly including resentful residents who threw bags of urine and faeces at the cast and crew. Rats were also commonplace. As if human waste and rodents weren’t bad enough, the crew were confronted with something particularly unpleasant when clearing out an alleyway in preparation for shooting one scene: lying on the ground was a real dead body. Art department co-ordinator Shane Mahan would later say, “The most horrible places I’ve ever had to film in were the alleys in downtown Los Angeles.” And this was the first film to provide a link between Predators and Xenomorphs. The climactic showdown in the Predator’s spaceship features a fan-pleasing Easter egg which soon got fans excited about a possible crossover between the Predator and Alien franchises. A throwaway suggestion from director Stephen Hopkins to special effects maestro Stan Winston led to a Xenomorph head being added to the Predator’s wall of trophy skulls. Arnold Schwarzenegger said to no to this movie because he did not like the new director and the script. And Schwarzenegger was going to co-star in the film, but decided to do Terminator 2: Judgement Day instead. At the end of the movie, the Alien skull on the trophy case on the Predator ship was the idea of Stephen Hopkins, as a way of showing all the different species and creatures the Predators have hunted and killed. The spear weapon used in the film disappeared after filming and was reported as stolen after filming was completed. When the elder Predator handed Glover the gun dating from 1715, writers Jim Thomas and John Thomas had conceived an idea for a possible Predator movie which would take place in a time where there are no modern weapons. You will see the reason why in the movie “PREY”. Keep up the amazing work.
Hi Cami, great to see you back continuing your Predator journey!😊 You are definitely watching the three best stand-alone Predator films. This is set 7 years in the future. I don't know if the reason is to make LA more violent in the possible future, or to make it 10 years since the last Predator visit. Maybe a combination of both. It does seem that The Predators only send out one hunter at a time. the Prey movie shows how the Predators got the 1715 gun.
In my opinion, P2 is a considerably underrated sequel and far superior to the original. Better acting (particularly Danny Glover, while Schwarzenegger was his usual terrible acting self). The script was better and there are less corny cliches. P1 was corny as hell with the boring, usual cliches.
