- Jimmy Webb, Daniel Woods, and Keenan Takahashi battle against one of the hardest undone projects in the United States. On December 15, 2018, after 11 days of effort, Jimmy Webb completed the first ascent of "Sleepwalker", suggesting a grade of 8C+(V16).
actual send footage that shows the fight rather than cuts of perfectly executed staged moves = a gift to the climbing community. Thank you for bringing this type of format back.
Just wanted to say I’m a huge fan of the layout of this video. Many things were done right for a climbing video. Closeups of the holds, it didnt say “FA Sleepwalker etc” right before he did the ascent, and it showed the progression/how many sessions were put in. Great job.
Totally agree!!
And the intro talking about the problem and why it's interesting.
For real! I love seeing the holds close up and seeing the level of detail and subtlety involved in climbing a boulder like this.
would like to just agree with every single thing said above.
David Owens would just like to agree with you agreeing with me
This is how climbing videos should look
except for the annoying music part
This isn't climbing.. it's bouldering
BozanicJosip hell no, the music choice good.
and the typography was wack
@@daggiedrop7108 bouldering is a subset of climbing
this is easily one of the best bouldering videos ever made.
thought your name was Chris Sharma for a sec lol
Dope af
Who is binge watching this now that Daniel send the V17 sit?! 👀🤯
Here!!!
Esperando que lo suban jajaja
dan linked em now too
Man the most impressive was Drew Ruana... His last move outta world.
I walked by this problem on the way to do Epinephrine about two weeks ago, and marvelled at how impossible this thing looked. Had no idea what it was, but I knew it was gorgeous, and that whoever was putting chalked on the holds must have been a strong cookie.
It's so cool to find out I got to put my grubby little hands all over the hardest problem in the states.
Now you can feel even better about having smeared your grubby meat hooks on the hardest problem of all time.
@@MrLalitknaidu burden probably harder in some ways
I would buy a Mellow Climbing hoodie (or pay a subscription fee for footage of this quality), just sayin. Bring back climbing media! Thanks!!
Also, that "I think that's the way"--feels
that's a great idea!! I would buy it too
5:53 When you go to check on your pizza rolls but they arent ready yet
more like when you check and they're burnt haha
Anyone hear Jimmy whisper "Ahhh fuck you" (5:05) when he realizes T H E W A Y?
Love this video edit, good hype music but appreciate you kept it to just the climbing during the send so you can hear it, keep up the rad work guys!
These feel edited like old school skate videos...love them. (the Dreamcatcher and the Kintsugi video as well)
*INTENSE SCREAMING*
Mellow
What I love about this video is how it shows that failure is part of the journey. The will to keep trying and trying despite failing. That's an important lesson. Not only for climbing, but for life. Thank you Kevin Takashi for this wonderful video.
Dude that victory scream is so beautifully haunting. Putting something like that down has got to be such an intense feeling, so much work all put into that final send and it’s just over after that.
That fucking scream gets me psyched every time
What a line. Stoked to see this has gone down. Is this a classic Jimmy sandbag though?
I bet on it
What do you mean by sandbag? as in v17 or v15?
Yea u mean soft or stiff?
@@ToewangJones yea Im a little confused as well. Not sure how you sandbag with a grade only a handful of problems have been given.
V16+
This does not look like the same boulder that people are trying today, that sloper crimp looks like a way worse hold in this vid than in the slew of repeats in the last year or so have made it look 🤷♀️
Just re-watched this and it's just as epic as the first time. Such a sick video and an amazing boulder. Can't wait to see Daniel on the sit, so psyched!
This guy's gonna lose his shit when he finds out there were stairs on the other side the whole time.
A series of easy moves, one after another. They are all easy. Some are easier than others.
Some of the easier moves are around V0. No joke!
Awesome video, Love the channel so much! Is there any footage of Nalle trying this thing?
Wet Guitar he just sent it today!
haha yeah I saw!@@dominorider9879
Red Rock is amazing. Please help spread the word that it's not ok to climb the sandstone when wet. Many routes have been permanently altered/ruined as a result of people climbing wet rock and breaking holds.
So important!
Super happy for Jimmy, hopefully The Big Island Assis will go this year!
I've watched it quite a few times. More than 15 for certain. Easy to say this is the most stunning vid you could ever do on climbing. You are literary there, with them, feeling these emotions like it's yours. I wish there were more of such vids. Insanely good.
You made Daniel's first appearance soooo epic, pure awesomeness
i love what mellow are doing with these vids, love the edits, that they show attempts, know when to cut the music and let the climbing speak for itself
I sent my proj today and then I watch this. Motivates me to keep fucking climbing, nothing like being locked in and knowing you got it even before you actually top out.
Yo!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dude at 3:43 this dude tells Jimmy "Okay Jimmy all the tension in the world!" It's fucking hilarious to me because this is like the third or fourth video where I've heard that same guy in the background telling him the same thing and it's humorous because I've never heard any spotter yell that to a climber but honestly it's the most perfect thing to tell a climber on a hard-ass problem
The climbing is incredibly impressive, but just a comment on strength and balance. Jimmy’s back is the most perfectly sculpted example of scapular stability and strength. How balanced his body is and how he uses incredible technique to maximize that strength is truly a thing to behold. Get off your hangboard and go do some scapular work. Holy cheese...
Scalp pull-ups on hangboard ?
One of my new favorite climbing videos. Fuck yeah, Jimmy, insane send!
No better climbing video than a video with some odesza playing in the background!!
This was great. I love how you could see and feel Jimmy progressing and increasing his skill across sessions. Awesome video. Thanks
Wow, shows the effort that goes into it better than most short vids. I'm booking my flights to try the sit start. Be a step up from V5 but you know...
Great video, love the progress and silent FA. No shitty music just focus.
Probably my 20+ time watching this and it never gets old. Incredible video
Are those real moustaches???

Drew ruana: hold my chalk bag...
Nice video, guys.
All hail the pebble wrestlers! Dru sending~ruclips.net/video/ql4XnjGclLw/видео.html
this is one of my favorite bouldering videos ever.
What background score is this
i've watched this so many times... i love tbis boulder
My god that looks so outrageously difficult.
So sick, looks like Grampians rock
I'd expect to see this film at a festival. Enter it into BANFF !
Sick mate! Well done! And dope tunes as well :)
Fantastic video guys! Uh, yeah great job on the send too :)
One of the best boulder video for sure ! Music ?!
the question i want to know...what evolv shoes is he wearing
Chad Beckelhymer Evolv Phantom. New shoe coming to Evolv line in spring 2019.
whatever is editing this video did a good fucking job
Wow!!.. thats an absolutely incredible line.. that problem looks DEEP. Amazing send and super vid! Just one question, "Wheres the sit start?" ; )
I love to see people falling. It is and has always been the state of affairs in climbing. The bread and butter of the trade, if you will. Very refreshing and a joy to watch. thank you :)
And that’s the sort of accomplishment that accomplished something. I think.
Life is more fun when you outgrow this stuff
Freaking love this video!!! Wow, this is totally my favorite climbing video now!
Watched this one so many times now. Something about it just makes me so fuckin psyched to climb. I also love the music and cinematography when Daniel comes in just screaming “shits about to go down, Daniel is here”
Do you think projects like this will be up graded once 9a/+ becomes more of a thing? I know the grades at the very top end have gotten a little hazy
The Odesza music works so well for this 😮👌🏼👌🏼
Absolute quality!
the fight, the FIGHT! and finally, the SEND! absolutely love it!! sends with all the fails, the good and the bad, make climbing videos so much better!!
What an interestingly featured rock face. Awesome boulder and awesome video.
i love the Fact that they even think bout posting the name of the song in the end. very nice edit and insane performance from jimmy!!!! thanks for sharing :) keep it up n stay strong
Holycowohmygod. Dude...that was inSANE!
Perfectly filmed and executed
ps Don't suppose anyone knows the name of the mustard coloured trousers?
how did you guy remove the two boulder in the way of the sit start? it isn't there in the ROTSW
Fuck that's a great video
Literally "the best bouldering video ever". Love it.
Yo get this, we find a big ass rock, then we try to get on top of it, but heres the kicker, in the most difficult way possible
Who’s the dude with massive tash?
Cuando lo prueban parece imposible, y en el encadene parece facilisimo
Anybody else gonna recognize that wood popped his pully?
That's a rad line. Super inspiring vid... Congrats!
Who's gonna tell them they could just walk around to the other side.
Amazing Video. A bit of preview Talking about the boulder, then a lot of progress and the days you spent on it with a nice finish of his ascent. Continue on with this channel :-)
Is it bad that I knew this was the Apple Commercial song the second it started?
Really good edit. This is what I want in a climbing video. Short description, tons of climbing footage. Falls. Falls. More falls. You show what’s hard about it instead of just telling us. Keep it up!
Really good video and strong send! Can't wait for more videos on this channel ;)
'that's fucking gangstar'
In a 3 climber project only one gets the first ascent. Good to see you guys learning about the new grade together.
Incredible ascent! - did I spot a sit start out to the left (5:27), might be able to eek another grade out of it...
I think out left is another hard line (Squoze V14?). Someone in another comment said Daniel woods is trying a sit.
You're a prophet
Like my 20th time watching this, never gets old
This has to be a new standard for climbing videos on this channel!
Ey guys I'm new 2 climbing, and I know what 8C+ means but what does V16 mean?
Hills Of Screams It’s the same grade but in the US they use another grading system that uses ‘v’ in front.
Pure psych! Loved that you left out the music on the actual send..make the shot feel a lot more realistic!
such a better use for that music than apple commercials. :)
You’re the man Jimmy....
5:53 his arm actually shakes from the power of his scream
Great job showing how perfect you have to be with every movement to climb something this hard (on top of being a physical freak of nature 🙂) Nice work.
Super sick from a badass east coast American climber, great job sir!
Wow. This is pretty much the best bouldering edit I have ever seen. Big up to Jimmy Webb, too!
Awesome send! Hated the music choice though..
5:32 That right there is pure. Anyone who's ever topped out a hard or scary ass boulder will know exactly what he was feeling right there and there is nothing like it
Anyone else get sweaty fingers watching this?
I watch this weekly I swear
Legit watch this once a day to get me pumped
Great Vid, good job 👍
Awesome seeing Jimmy back from injury, back on top :)
Thank you for the amazing work! I was going to go to school but... I guess I have no other choice than to go climbing now =D
Loved this video. Really liked seeing the "story" behind the send and all the attempts it took over various sessions.
Wild
ahaha i thought that was ethan sporting a big stache for a second
