Rotpunkt: Bibliographie | Alex Megos climbs his hardest project yet | Patagonia

- Alex Megos never met a route he couldn’t climb in short order…that was until he encountered Bibliographie, an undone sport line at the French super-crag, Céüse. In 2017, Megos first tried the route that would become his three-year project. On the path to the send he encountered doubts and injuries and qualified for the Olympics. It wasn’t until COVID turned the world upside down that he was able to return to Céüse and close the books on one of the hardest routes ever climbed.

At Patagonia, we appreciate that all life on earth is under threat of extinction. We’re using the resources we have-our business, our investments, our voice and our imaginations-to do something about it. - Спорт
Oh no my onsight attempt is gone. 😭🤣
Even pros cant resist a good climbing video!
What do you think? Does it fit your style? :D
Would be exiting to see you try this route :D
Looking forward to seeing you climb it in the next year or two!
Than go for the flash :) :)
We all await you to nail one of the 9C's now. we see your 9B+ video we all look forward to it.
Someone asked the question who would be first to repeat a 9C Ondra or Megos i thought you will be the next one so i shall wait with my popcorn for it.
Can't see many cracks on that one. Damn you Alex 😉
Seriously solid job 👏👏
tell em pete/tom!
Haha, that's definitely a candidate for the most underrated comment
i think its time to battle your crack addiction, its starting to affect other people's lives.
Unfortunately here you'll have to just go cragging like normal people do. :D
@@rastkosmrekar6374😂😂
“If in doubt, run it out”
Heart attack towards the end where he just skips two draws. 🤣
@@codyglasson8695 Yes, but it's a very safe fall albeit a long one. That is the one positive thing about overhang.
this comes form the same guy that brought is 'Style first, speed second, safety third' hahahaha
It´s a quote of Jerry Moffat, who said this back in the days in Britain with only nuts.
i shit my pants just thinking about running one of em, but hell I do 6cs almost none of em have as clean whippers as the routes this people do :P
"I am not going to clip anything on the headwall"
😅😅😅
"Proper whipper" with that delicious accent completely made my day
4:46
Propa whippa
right proper

We're those kind of people who get more exited about a 17 minute video of someone climbing a hard route than when a famous multi-millionaire Hollywood movie comes out, thank you Alex, Patagonia and all the production team!
basico , basic
especially because I expected it to come out on wednesday!
So true
indeed! was a good day today! more "Mellow" makes my heart beep too!
Indeed.
I love how Adam Ondra said he name his 9C Silence cause when he clipped it there was nothing but Silence (not the exact quote, but yea.)
And here, we see Megos clip, a soft "take" , then 5 secons of this "Silence" moment and then BOOM all the emotions..it's just a nice parallel..
Very well done video, and of course, the ascent itself is mindblowing, huge congrats!!!
i believe ondra said he just got a sense of inner quiet whenever he climbed it, and he didn't (couldn't) scream as he usually does when he completes a project. and thats why he called it silence.
FINALLY
We've been waiting so long to hear Alex Megos imitate the sound of the sloshing tea in his stomach while he climbs.
The send footage is absolutely insane as well of course...
Can't wait to see Ondra pterodactyl scream on this for 6 months
No way he hates pockets
@@Blubby272 His hardest project was littered with pockets. If it's hard, he'll try it. It's in his nature.
TheBlueFister I mean he's working on PM right now to improve his pockets but what do you mean his hardest project was pockets lol. Silence is not pockets at all.
@@crescentfuze Sorry, not hardest project but La Dura Dura. A good few nasty pockets on that route. Definitely agree Megos is ahead in fingers but Adam's drive really knows no bounds. He's good at identifying weaknesses and training until they're strengths.
6 months, 6 year? 6 days? hard to say :)
I live by that quote from rotpunkt everytime I fall on a tough climb. "There are no bad conditions, only weakness" -Alex Megos
Same!
FINALLY
We've been waiting so long to hear Alex Megos imitate the sound of the sloshing tea in his stomach while he climbs.
The send footage is absolutely insane as well of course...
Seb Bouin is on tour repeating all historic french climbs it looks like his list just got longer.
"I kind of had to learn to put in effort, even though there might not have been any positive outcome...I'll not expect anything in return, and I think that was a huge step in my climbing." So good. I've just recently been learning how this applies in relationships, too.
Of course Alex has a yellow golf R
exactly what I was thinking when it came into frame
My thoughts exactly.
Hahahaha fuck dudes thats so funny
Haha thought the same thing
But he hardly looks old enough to be driving it!
14:50 That celebratory yell and the chorus of supporters afterwards...What an amazing moment! Thanks for sharing this moment with us Alex
i like how everyone waits till alex screams and joins afterwards :DDD
“Propa whippa” is the best one liner
i agree!
love how so camly said 'take' and then went bonkers as he sat in the rope.
That ‘YEEAAHH’ after the final clip lights a fire in my soul
That falling nein is ASMR lvl along w/ Ondra's scream
4:47 Megos disguised as Pete Whittaker
LOL
Lol nice
Incredible achievement. Brilliant filmmaking. I think you just captured Alex becoming a "mature" climber. Can't wait to see what you both achieve next.
Wow, what a masterpiece! Congrats Megos!
That's monumental. Congrats again for mastering this epic struggle. Still can't imagine what hell of a journey this must have beem for you!
Huge congrats and great video!!! Patagonia, buy a van for Alex ;)
All the respect in the world to Megos, may you continue to succeed and crush in all you try.
Beautiful watch, good work Megos!
When it's @13:06 and that's the first time you can remember hearing the snap of a gate through the whole film o.o
you mean 13:02 ?
waiting to see this for so long. congrats Alex!
Beautiful doc with stunning cinematography, wow!
so so So nice! thanks to the whole crew for creating this documentary!
A true inspiration. Keep doing your thing, its a treat to watch.
I´ve had goosebumps for 20 seconds when you sent. Amazing effort!
Congrats Alex. News of this routes completion was a major uplifter in the COVID void. Thank you Patagonia for giving us weaklings a view into the world of monsters.
I've been unbelievably excited for this, what an amazing era of climbing we are in.
So stoked for Alex, freaking incredible line and a historic send!!!
Congrats Alex! Thanks for keeping on pushing the boundaries of rock climbing. I loved the music of the video also.
Wow! The last scream after a few seconds is piercing! Congratz!!!!
Incredible and a brilliantly told story. What Alex pushes himself through with his climbing will power just left me really stunned.
Amazing film for an amazing achievement. Love Alex, he's such an inspiration.
Bravo, Alex. What an achievement. Legend. Xx
Love how even the cameraman is stressing out when Megos passed his previous high point
Very inspiring. Thank you Alex and everybody who helped getting this footage on screen.
I'm curious who's gonna get the second ascent and if there will be another climber tackling this plain and overhanging piece of rock.
this was worth the wait! It's always inspiring watching Alex Megos climb
just motoring through this at the end. i feel like you already know that he would do it in this try. absolute zero hesitation. you can just experience this after trying something for a long time.
I have never waited so long for a video to be released... Alex really nailed it!!
Although I knew Alex already sent it... I got tears in my eyes while watching! Thank you to all the people that made this docu happen and especially to Alex who allowed us to come along and be a witness of something truely inspiring 🙏✌!
you guys released it one day earlier. you re awesome, thank you so much for this video
I feel like I just witnessed history...

Amazing film guys, incredible work Alex! Keep crushing
This was super inspiring to watch!
His effort is incredible! Also the cinematography is just stunning! 💕🤙
Thank you for inspiring, Megos!
Finally some compatition in the climbing world. Congrats Magos
Soo powerful! My week has been made!
Congratulations to all of you! Thank you for sharing inspiration and incredible techniques. Strong hug from a fan from Brazil.
So badass!! I have been waiting for this film to come out for some time. It did not disappoint
Thank you for sharing this video and your explanations. Thank's. Take care.
Nice treat waking up at 5am to this!
Congrats, that route is insane!
I don't climb. But I really enjoy these videos. It makes me happy to see others enjoy being outside. Thanx Patagonia
Real motivation it was. The starting words and last words are true what he spoke.
It like an early Christmas present and has made my year better. Congratulations to Alex for such a monumental ascent and thanks to the Patagonia team for a beautiful film. I think I've watched rotpunkt like 8 times a I'll watch this one more. 🤙🤙🤙
🙏
Yeah me too, me too for sure!
Wonderful production and such an amazing job Megos!
Da fangen mir gleich die Hände an zu schwitzen und ich krieg ne Gänsehaut!
Astonishing movie! very inspiring! congratulations Alex, you totally nailed it! Now I'm waiting for Ghisolfi :)
Respect man!
End made me cry.
Iam so sensitive.
So emotional.
Knowing noone will be able to climb this route for another decade.
Congratulations to Alex and thanks for a good movie! It's very motivational, working very hard on something, without knowing if it's even possible.
Simply amazing !
My favorite climber climbing potentially the hardest route in the world? More of this please. Congrats on the send Alex!!!! You are an inspiration!!
I mean you can't really tell if Silence or this route is the harder one as they are fundamentally different...I think pocket climbing fits Alex's style, meanwhile the awkward kneebars and the crux on Silence fits Ondra's. Once (or if) the grade is confirmed by someone else, only then we can start to have a conversation like this. Nevertheless, amazing achievement by Megos, truly one of the best climbers out there today.
@@byZwoosh i am the same opinion, ondra failed climbing a crimpy 9b+ Megos did in Canada, Alex is very good at that stuff so it could be a megacrimpy 9c but nobody knows until others climb
@@stephenr80 The only 9b+ Alex sent is Perfecto Mundo in Margalef(Spain). Can you please tell me what route are you talking about? AFAIK he tried to send Fight Club (9b) in a day and failed. His main goal was to try flashing a 9a+. He chose to try the open project which later became Disbelief (9b on micro holds). How is it that 'fans' often misrepresent the facts just to boost their 'idols' name?
Silence will most likely come out as the harder route, just due to how unique the climbing style is (and how few people actually manage to climb that style). But we'll never know for sure until Alex tries Silence and Adam tries Bibliographie (if they ever do), or some 3rd party does them both.
I just saw him climb at my local climbing gym and had no idea who he was until my boyfriend made me aware. I'm absolutely blown away by this video and feel literally sick to my stomach watching this, incredible!
that video made me shed a tear, i am going through something similar, and my mind is in pieces, i'm asking myself if i'll ever make it, i hope i'll make it someday.
it's the first time in my life that i watched a 18 mins ad and cried at the end of it.
i'll put that one invmy favorites, when someday i might feel miserable, when I feel like i'm over-estimating my strength to achieve my goals, i'll comeback and watch it.
thanks for the emotion, passion, and feels you guys made me feel through that documentary, dedication and constance is the answer, even if i feel like the whole world is giving me the finger with its chaos theory, i need to stay dedicated
Great film. Thank you all for this........motivation tank full to overflow and now I train 🦾
Stefano Ghisolfi gets second ascent in 2022 mark my WORDS
Setting an alarm on my phone for two years from now to hold you to this.
I'd tend to agree with you!
even earlier
He'll be next for sure👍
Ondra, this probably is the reason why he is working on pockets atm
Well done! A great story behind an incredible ascent.
Watched Ondra’s Silence and this vid back to back. So Epic!!
17 minutes seems to be consensus film length for 5.15d
It's such a contrast between those two, alex, compared to adam feels like a robot when he talks, no emotion whatsoever
@@Varilpsa ur opinion I feel like he radiates passion through effort
@@noahjeffery5670 maybe but it seems more like te radiates boredom out of his face
Beautiful.
Great achievement!!! Thats so motivating and inspiring! :)
Epic fight, nice job, congratulations 👌🙂🍾
I'm more excited than I've ever been in the 9 months.
Eine Idee, eine unmögliche Idee, eine denkbare Idee, eine machbare Idee... eine Idee die unmöglich war, bis einer kam und sie machte. Respekt Alex, das freut mich sehr für Dich. Grüße aus den Norden in den Süden.
For such a young age, pretty wise and philosophical insights!
AMAZING piece.
This is incredible. Good luck from Czech (Adams:-) republic. Alex is so big man, very hard working. No one, except the top climber, can imagine such hard physical and mental work and renunciation. Climbing is the most difficult sport in the world. Howhg. And we are witnessing the revolutionary culmination of the history of this sport. Of the many great and elite climbers I think of: Albert, Gulich, Gill, Huber, Yaniro, Hill, Šmíd, Le Menestrel, Smith, Patissier, Destivelle, Godoffe, Edlinger, Andrada, Arnold, Honnold, Charma, Patxi, Medox and Ondra. The last stars stand on the shoulders of many famous and nameless people who have contributed, each with their work to share what we call today's sport climbing.
been waiting for this one :)
Sooo long
Beautiful video
Let's gooooo
This man is the climber I want to be
Can't wait for the next one!
I want to see more of this route!
Sau Stark !!! Mein Respekt an deinen Biss. !!!! Danke für das Video und die Motivation zu beißen ;)
Alex- "The hardest part is not loosing your mind."
Me- "It's gone, no worries"
LOL
Beautiful camera work and edit.
amazing great job Alex
I wish I could give a like each time I see this. Fantastic Alex
otra galaxia! muy muy guapa la via y el video
That was so interesting and inspiring!!!
beautifully shot
Fantastic.
Niiice! This was better than the main movie!
Seriously amazing, carrots for power!!
I think that solving problems like this one, where you have to give everything you have over a long time without knowing if you’d ever get a reward, catapults you to another level of maturity in your profession. Can’t wait to see what’s next! Maybe the gold medal a the olympics? I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Just ... Awesome
Imagine how good he’ll be when he hits puberty!!!
But for real man, insane props to you. Du bisst fantastick!
Love watching Alex climb, I hope there will be many sends to come after the olympics
Also, we still want a rotpunkt shirt
