@jon gibson You are a sad, angry man. Go outside and scream like Alex Megos did in the movie and hopefully some of the hatred that makes up your heart will dissipate.
@jon gibson There was clearly a lot of time, effort, and thought that went into this film, exploring the human behind one of the leaders of modern climbing and the historical progression of the sport. To throw a 50 minute film of this quality out to the public without asking for any money in return is very generous and I will watch it over and over without complaint :)
I love the line, When you're climbing, you see chalk on a hold, you know someone has used it before you. If you can't hold it, then you're not the best. Wow.
Thanks for releasing the full movie for free. Very well done! Love the historical background. Makes the movie much more interesting than just another biographical "super climber" show.
First thing i noticed watching a lot of these climbing vids is they ALWAYS look at their hands straight away after a climb..... It must be a huge thing maintaining hand and finger condition for them. Gotta love this level of dedication.
Well the fingers are in agony if not numb at that point. So what they are doing is looking if looks as bad as it feels. Most, if not all, athletes at that level have constant pain signals they just ignore. You can't just give up. If it's not broken or bleeding, it can be fixed later
"I was scared of failing, so I would then end up not trying certain things, because I knew that I might not succeed on them." - I feel you... Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will...
Love how you imbedded Alex story in the climbing history and community, couse the spirit behind climbing is what´s connecting us all. And Alex, man, what a strong and focused guy.
i can’t truly express the amount of times i’ve watched this, especially the training sequence around 18:00. rock climbing isn’t even my main sport, but the amount of motivation that this film brings me every single day in my head is just insurmountable. thank you ken and chelsea and alex for crafting a true masterpiece of filmmaking.
What I love the most about climbing is that it's so poetical. It's a brilliant metaphor for life itself. It's the inner battle, the mental game. Am I strong enough to top this route? Epic!
such a great film. Thanks for sharing it for free. The insights of the daily struggles are so much more interesting than only pure success stories. It was thrilling to see how Alex copes with his inner deamons. I wish Alex much growth and a splendig future exploring his true potential!
Impressed. Even if I try 50 times and finally climb the route, the move is almost completed by the 10th try. At that moment I'm convinced that this is going to climb, but as Megos said at last, knowing that I can climb is different from actually climbing. So the remaining 40 times for RP are not fun climbing. It is regrettable, painful, irritable, work-like and boring. However, suddenly a move or notice to move forward led to the completion of the climb. This film tells about RP is able to find such a process and part of life.
Alex has always been one those people who can inspire me personally to really push my limits and boost up my confidence. Just watching him climb in videos makes me think that I can do so much more. The ferocity that he has for climbing is truly addicting and it rubs off on me. Thank you Ken Etzel and Chelsea Jolly for capturing this and putting it together, and thank you Patagonia for hosting and sharing this video.
This is actually crazy! Alex was at my local climbing gym in Toronto a few weeks ago and I had no idea who he was. I was blown away buy this random guy making everything he climbed in the gym look so easy and doing moves I could only dream of. My friends and I kept saying to each other wow this guy is crazy! But I had not idea how good he actually was.
@@radimm5936 haha. Imagine you hang out with Jesus, the two of you playing ping pong for hours. But you don't not know it's him and wonder why he has holes in his wrists. Only later to find out that that was the only chance to ask him the most important questions of your life.
That was a truly awesome climbing film. The point it makes about all the fails that climbers like Alex make but we don’t see is huge and truly poignant.
This dude is like Naruto. "I have to become stronger" ..... "I have to become stronger, way stronger". But with with great strength, great patience is also required!
How awesome. Thanks Patagonia for sharing this quality video with the world and bravo Alex, well done! Please continue your growth as a climber and as a wonderful person. Thankyou for sharing the raw journey which was deeply touching and nostalgic for many of us who have attempted to climb hard and have experienced similar failures, as well as the same feelings of euphoria and success after achieving something after many days of battle (even if nothing in comparison). Capturing the mental challenges are not often done justice in many climbing films but was poised brilliantly here.
This is so inspiring, I like the emphasis on failure being ok, you only get see others successes on social media and it sometimes means viewing yours as failure, This film has the crucial reminder that every success in climbing is only met as the result of a litany of failed attempts, at the end of the day the real satisfaction in success is reflection on the journey that led you there.
That movie was fucking awesome. All the elements were there tragedy, struggle, action, history, stoke and amazing camera work. Thanks Patagonia and Alex Megos and Ken Etzel + Chelsea Jolly and Patrick Matros and Dicki Korb for bringing all this to the table.
Incredible fitness, work ethic, persistence, and such great production value. It's fascinating to me that his mindset doesn't interact much with the real reasons I climb, which are more about friendship, being outside, the feel of the rock, and, sure, the joy of pushing your limits. Still, it's inspiring to see Alex fight to balance the mental aspect with his raw physical ability, and in doing so venture further into uncharted territory. Keep doing it like only you can Alex!
This movie is definitely one of the best I've ever seen, if not the best. Alex you're just inspiring and I wish you best of luck to send 9c or even 9c+:)
Best movie about our shared passion I have ever seen. Thank you so much Patagonia, Alex Megos and the creative and technical teams for this. Climb On! 🤘
A great film with stunning photography and outstanding editing along with an occasional subtle shade of Warren Miller. Oh, and Megos is a shredded beast!
this is a stylish documentary! great job. was fun to watch. as alex megos is pushing the physical barriers the directors are also. thanks for the free content.
Great video, nice filming work, ... great climbings from Alex, and the tribute to Gullich and Kurt was really nice, congratulations, ...I was climbing in Siurana the day that Alex sent Estado Crítico, i could see him a couple of times in Siurana, and i remember thinking for myself, this is the future of climbing, and that future has come, and hope will bring great ascents and progression to this sport, Alex is pussing the new smart climbing ... congratulations, ...

@jon gibson That's obviously not what the OP meant... He meant offered for free, as opposed to sold.

As usual, Chris Sharma just appears in a rock-climbing movie, helping pro-climbers in achieving their projects. This guy is the real G.

40:22 "there's no bad conditions, there is only..... weakness" aaaalrighty then Alex.
His coach is extremely insightful and poetic.

Fantastic film! German rock climbing history, Alex's development as a climber & ending with FA of Perfecto Mundo. All beautifully filmed & editted.
This was one seriously great film. I hope they do as good job when he is going for the Silence.
