Then around 80-100mph the diesel would hit a wall where the Civic was just getting into its stride. The diesel was probably in top gear. The Civic would do 100mph in 3rd. 120mph in 5th and a (not proud) 158mph in 6th with 500rpm to go and pulling. But yeah 50-70 , 50-80 mph the diesel had me licked.
Bought my Fabia vRS brand new in 2004 and started modifying it around 2013. Went up to around 220-230BHP in 2015, running Darkside FMIC and Milltek exhaust, amongst other things. Sadly i started breaking it last year as i upgraded to an Octavia.
My mate got a 55 plate Bacon Lettuce Tomato fabia, head rebuilt with oem parts after headlift diagnosed (had a real bad remap when he bought the car that the butt dyno said was about 150-160 bhp), uprated turbo but cant remember numbers, fmic, 3 teeth cam adjustment, 3 terracleans (inj 3 was being a lazy git and just gave us that lovely diesel stench white smoke) 3 inch straight thru pipe, between 40-50 dyno runs and putting just shy of 240 bhp and 400 ish torque, the tuner was told before he started smoke is not a issue just power, if we got the pd160 cupra intake he said could do more as the turbo could handle it, but already pushing limits of the clutch, injectors running at virtually max capacity and all the other bits that you guys know too well, a good few parts came from yourselves, and still greatful you accepted the return and refund on the oil cooler, I think fabia's are more popular then polo's cause they seem like golf's in size even tho we all tho under the panels it is a polo lol
Yup this is a perfect build, no one use much more than this on daily basis... This is what i want for my "new" BLT Ibiza fr, maybe 200 to be a round number but not much than that.
another good tip is the downward facing tailpipe. It's amazing how much that swirls up the smoke or even such a pipe further up around the rear axle. I don't get the decat. The oxi-cat burns some of the soot particles straight away or a sintermetallic filter will burn most of them straight away without creating a big backpressure while maintaining a much clearer exhaust gas allowing more initial smoke for more power
Great vid. As you say not everyone can realistically afford the big 300+ tunes as great as they are. I'm hoping to build my AVB100 passat wagon to similar spec, would be hilarious to sicken a few people in big cars!
Really like to see this type of vlog, on a newer engine like an 1.6 CAYB/CAYC , or a 2l tdi (golf, polo, a1, etc…) just to see what can be done with a mister everybody car ! 🤞
Have a 2001 AWX Passat estate bought for £190 5 years ago. Body a bit tatty but few mods and it's pushing 185bhp. Quick, easy on diesel and pisses people off when you blast past them
Mine had 190 and I put about 50k miles on it in 3 years. Only thing that went wrong was the boost pipe popped off and broke the lugs. Couple self tappers sorted that.
Great video. Love these videos on standard everday cars. My pd 130 in my a6 c5 is at 452000kms. Going to start mapping it up soon 😁 Id be happy with 170 hp 👍
The engine has just been worked out for tuning. my 930000k. new turbo. clutch. rebuilt injectors. but the engine was never opened. 165ps 360Nm. I know that 4 years later it was still complete, nothing was touched.
This is perfect…a fun daily driver that isn’t anti social with hideous smoke and good mpg!…I honestly think…if you want big power from a hot hatch then go for a petrol and time the nuts off it..but for a daily …this is perfect…oil and filter changes every 5000 miles and your car should last forever
I miss my PD130 Bora Highline and thought i could replace it with a Fabia VRS PD130 and it was completely different. Literally ended up getting rid after a year.
Got an 07 VRS SE completely bone stock but I plan on putting some power down, nothing crazy as I don't wanna make it obnoxiously quick or smokey. I wanna keep it in as tip top condition as possible as my plan is to make it into a more show oriented car that I can still daily drive. I think coilovers, new brakes and a strut brace would be nice first mods. Would rather sit on coils before I get wheels. Handling is more important to me
No wonder why one of these kept up with me one night. Driving a Leon 1.8T Cupra (no mods) at the time. But he lacked the punch out of the corners compared to me. Interesting perspective

Brilliant video, can you do a similar one for 2.0 PD TDI 140 BKD, such a common engine and many claim large figures but with huge smoke. A nice modified daily driver just like this.
People think I am stupid when I tell them not to go mad on turbo size, i 100% think the sweet spot on the PDs is GT1749VB or GT1752 hybrid for a daily. I hate driving my GTB'ed anni daily.
Just got my 1st ever vw a 2009 1.9 tdi jetta. 105 se and cant wait to start doing some subtle mods. How much would a nice remap cost a nice little increase in bhp and torque. And what figures could be possible
It would be great to see a similar daily driver spec video for the 1.6tdi. Wifey has a Greenline 1.6tdi Octavia. Its great on fuel but feels a bit too slow in stock trim. Gears are long, it would benefit from more low down and mid range torque. From 1300rpm & up.
@@DarksideDevelopments Thanks guyes I can't wait. I know the stock turbo is good for around 150hp. In your other videos you mentioned the stock fuel system and clutch is good for more than 150hp. A cost effective package giving 170 to 185hp using the stock fuel system and clutch with maybe a slightly bigger turbo + intercooler plus unblocked cat egr dpf sounds not too expensive. If the package costs under or around 3k, is reliable long-term and keeps reasonable fuel economy that would be great. 6th gear on wifeys greenline is huge, 39 mph per 1000rpm, if it had another 70hp I reckon it would pull that gear another 15 mph. On my local autobahn it pulls close to 130mph after a long run. But thats only 3300 rpm.
I have a stage 2 MK5 Golf TDI 170, 188 bhp / 332 lb/ft, easily spins up in 2nd/3rd in the dry and more than enough for quick overtakes and entertainment.
Hey dude, i've only had my MK5 Golf TDI 170 remapped so far. Having loads of issues with the DPF (Hasn't been changed in 190,000 Miles) and keeps needing active regens, making the turbo hiccup etc. Thinking of getting it gutted and mapped out along with an EGR delete, but super paranoid about MOT! I'm assuming you've had that as part of your stage 2? Was it pricy? Such a fun car!
@@fn2lee117 I originally had a Regal remap put on mine at 130k with the original dpf, and it was an absolute nightmare, giving all the issues you mentioned (I blame the dpf not the map), had to get the map removed as it was impossible to live with. Spoke to a few places, R-tech said they would only map it with dpf in place, Unicorn motorsport said that they would only map it without dpf as they were so problematic, so go them to do it. Was £600 to gut dpf/map out egr and remap. Was a bit disappointed with the bhp when they'd finished as I was expecting 200bhp+, however they said that as it's an older car it was probably only running about 150bhp. This was nearly 2 years ago and it hasn't missed a beat in that time, mpg is better than it was standard, maybe 4-5. I was a bit apprehensive about the mot but it sailed through no problems. Performance difference over standard is night and day, could not go back! Obvs things have moved on and it's not the quickest car around by any stretch but it's enough to be entertaining and 2 years on I'm still not bored of it. Hope this helps!

My mate got a 55 plate Bacon Lettuce Tomato fabia, head rebuilt with oem parts after headlift diagnosed (had a real bad remap when he bought the car that the butt dyno said was about 150-160 bhp), uprated turbo but cant remember numbers, fmic, 3 teeth cam adjustment, 3 terracleans (inj 3 was being a lazy git and just gave us that lovely diesel stench white smoke) 3 inch straight thru pipe, between 40-50 dyno runs and putting just shy of 240 bhp and 400 ish torque, the tuner was told before he started smoke is not a issue just power, if we got the pd160 cupra intake he said could do more as the turbo could handle it, but already pushing limits of the clutch, injectors running at virtually max capacity and all the other bits that you guys know too well, a good few parts came from yourselves, and still greatful you accepted the return and refund on the oil cooler,
I think fabia's are more popular then polo's cause they seem like golf's in size even tho we all tho under the panels it is a polo lol
Yup this is a perfect build, no one use much more than this on daily basis... This is what i want for my "new" BLT Ibiza fr, maybe 200 to be a round number but not much than that.
got a pd130 polo, can’t wait to get some of your guys parts, all seem solid
another good tip is the downward facing tailpipe.
Sod Cillit BANG! and the dirt is gone
Darkside BANG! and the smoke is gone
12:24 Love that pd roar
Thank god for subtitles!
Cracking video. Practical, usable power is exactly what I’m after
Great vid. As you say not everyone can realistically afford the big 300+ tunes as great as they are. I'm hoping to build my AVB100 passat wagon to similar spec, would be hilarious to sicken a few people in big cars!
i wish we had more of these and good mechanics for them in the usa
Really like to see this type of vlog, on a newer engine like an 1.6 CAYB/CAYC , or a 2l tdi (golf, polo, a1, etc…) just to see what can be done with a mister everybody car ! 🤞
CAYC coming
Have a 2001 AWX Passat estate bought for £190 5 years ago. Body a bit tatty but few mods and it's pushing 185bhp. Quick, easy on diesel and pisses people off when you blast past them
Mine had 190 and I put about 50k miles on it in 3 years. Only thing that went wrong was the boost pipe popped off and broke the lugs. Couple self tappers sorted that.
I've seen standard fabias with more smoke 🚬 it's a clean map 👌
Great video. Love these videos on standard everday cars. My pd 130 in my a6 c5 is at 452000kms. Going to start mapping it up soon 😁 Id be happy with 170 hp 👍
The engine has just been worked out for tuning. my 930000k. new turbo. clutch. rebuilt injectors. but the engine was never opened. 165ps 360Nm. I know that 4 years later it was still complete, nothing was touched.
I miss my old SE, thing was putting out 250bhp 580nm torque.
"Wired to the moon" oh yes those cars are a load of fun. But this lovely little Fabia is very nice, cheers for a good insight AND FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
Well i drove a 180hp vw and im telling you its more than enough for city driving and pulls
Excellent video!
I would like to see more projects with the daily setup and I would love to see 1.9 tdi vp ve projects ! 👍
Totally agree. I have an ALH and I’d love to see some more videos on the Vp motors.
@@ethanhoullahan5423 im hoping to see one soon
Same here, aiming for an ALH 300 bhp with gtb2260vk with 11mm injection pump, and lift pump upgrade.
Are they that bad compared to a Bora?
@@cwuzii probably just different maps and gearbox ratios but definitely different driving experience
Loved my pd100 fabia. Really want a fabia vrs sometime before they start going up in value
Get one asap they’re already starting to shoot up
They are fun cars to drive, love the VRS
Loved both my 175bhp Fabia vRS's. Looking forward to having my Scirocco remapped by you in October!
I’ve got a mk5 golf bluemotion, 1.9tdi
Now going for 200bhp
Pd130 injectors
Sdi caddy lump
Pd130 turbo

Nice vid, good to see a real world review of what can be done without much effort on the PDs. Makes me wonder how far I really want to go with mine (track oriented road car)
2260 for a track car, look at our Ibiza.
great cars these i quite fancy getting another so easy and simple
This is the type of thing I'm after now. Making a full rebuild of ASZ, equipping with 1752 jw automotive, drw box and ARL cooler and pipes. Brand new oem sachs clutch kit, head bolts and all that. I hope it will start 😄 that on an mk4 golf. I wonder if you guys are able to map my ecu from a distance.
We do offer remote tuning but only with our parts installed
@DarksideDevelopments ah pity, I just installed OEM brand new parts and KS. I will hope to find a good tuner here. If you know anyone in Bulgaria shout out
@@DarksideDevelopments Do you think the stock ARL front cooler is enough for this kind of setup? Will it be a blocker from your exp?
Got to love a PD
Miss mine!
Brilliant video, can you do a similar one for 2.0 PD TDI 140 BKD, such a common engine and many claim large figures but with huge smoke. A nice modified daily driver just like this.
The hybrid turbo I have is from turbotechnics if you would tune that . And i get all new power figures today got a power run booked. Hopefully 200bhp
Love the way this guy sells the derv !
People think I am stupid when I tell them not to go mad on turbo size, i 100% think the sweet spot on the PDs is GT1749VB or GT1752 hybrid for a daily. I hate driving my GTB'ed anni daily.
I know. Yes its an old GTB2260vk. I am more saying my Mk5 drives spot on, like he is saying it drives right.
GTD1756VRK should be nice option
I do wonder what they are like but not a 100% stock bolt on.
too small, spool good but 4000rpm they choke
Gotta love the pd130 😎😎 mk4 golf

Turbo and injectons from ARL, FMIC (Seat Ibiza Cupra tdi 160 hp), dip, Kat aut, chip tuning = +/-190KM
We will make something!
I made the mistake and bought a pd150 bora didn't seem as reliable as the pd130 i had
@@fn2lee117 ps if you do get the dpf removed and get a fumey smell in the car when you're waiting at lights etc replacing the cabin filter should solve it.

Nice vid. Im getting a little old and have a fast TTS being slowly forged at the moment and will be running 500/550 in the near future.
However, I grabbed a decent little Fabia VRS (05) as a run around and Ive fell in love with it. Enough to spend money on it. Im now doing exactly what you mentioned at the start of the video - suspension (ST coil overs), all bushings, drop links, arb, top mount bearings, rear stub axles and bearings, sorting out the handling - and the standard brakes are shocking!
Do you guys at DS source the brake upgrades too - Mk1 TT, Octavia etc (312mm) replacements etc or is there a brand new cheap upgrade package, for example, like the Wilwood front calliper kit etc. What do you guys think is the best front brake upgrade for the money for these cars. They defo need them!
When all this is done I may have you guys tamper with the engine a little if the price is right.

If following newer trend for less smoke and limiting power output to be enough for day to day driving wouldn't older 1.9tdi VE engines be better? In my experience better output for power/ fuel consumption, had pd130 in the passat and octavia mk1 and it was always less 15mpg then the same cars with older ve engines.
I don't think you can get a VE to have the same power as a PD for the same smoke level BUT, you are correct about the consumption. The VEs are very good.
@@DarksideDevelopments agree on smoke levels going above 160 bhp say from 110 ve lump but up to that i would think the same (?) but with noticebly better consumption- which is another trend to add to the list along with no smoke these hard modern days :)
