The price tag is not his fault. Inflated, yes, but part of the price is that he was 21, and you’ve conceivably got 12-13 seasons out of him. He will be asked to steal the ball and distribute it fast. Sounds simple but it’s a critical role. He has every chance of being the best midfielder in the league at doing that.

I saw him at Brighton and it didn’t impress me a bit. The media was doing a great con job hyping his role. Other than making tackles, he is plain average. I watched him play like a schoolboy during Copa America. And my reservation is right so far. He gave away the ball so often that he became the 12th player for the opposing side. My first job if i own the club is to sell him at any price.

Seems to me this is an example of what Danny Murphy was talking about, big price tags and social media adding pressure to a player, Murphy giving a more sympathetic view, and Simon Jordan giving a harsher opinion, and it's there for the world to see, any struggling player under the circumstances of cost and spotlight listening to Simon might have their struggle extended, mental toughness is required from the players, but it's not as easy as flicking a switch.
I think Caciedo for instance has had his settling in time, and better should be expected of him from now on, the same can be said of Antony, I feel he's got more to prove than Caciedo.

  • @bluecarefreeforever

Caicedo (and Fernandez) problems are that the over inflated transfer fees by Chelsea combined with our own fans in social media creating incredible pressure for very young players. The fact is, the kid isn’t very good and that’s because he didn’t give himself time to actually learn and grow at Brighton. These young players are so in a rush these days to join big clubs that they forget that they’re really poor footballers. Shame.

Is this constructive to criticize Caicedo at the beginning of the season ? Or you need a topic to keep the audience entertained. Caicedo did have a great season at the end.
Why you criticize him maybe because he is not British . Criticize the British players too about their confidence . Let’s talk about Rashford ,grealish or the worst player macguire. They are British so you are careful with what you say . English media always making their own player look as if they are the best players . Premier league is OVERRATED .

@eL--RaL Vini Jr won La Liga, the Champions League, and should win the Ballon d'Or, and is Madrid's most talented player.
Why would anyone's heart rate be affected by a friendly? There is no jeopardy - no points lost, no knockout from any tournament.
Which leads me to wonder why Vini Jr's play in a friendly has such a big impact on your sense of self worth.
