    • @AeonQuasar
      @AeonQuasar Месяц назад +6

      There aren't any bluffers. They basically don't exist in this echoing world the professionals live in. There are multiple reasons why certain players work under one manager/club and not on other ones, but it's not because of them being deliberately bad. It's entirely psychological.
      Keane are from the old school where men are men and feelings are left in a box. That's not how it work today unless you get ONLY people with that singular mindset in your squad.
      ETH seemed like the strict old school type, especially considering how he solved the Sancho issue. Amorim seems much more charismatic. If I were a United supporter I would have been carefully optimistic about this new manager. You tried Keane tactic for 3 managers except maybe Solskjaer and it hasn't worked.

But he needs the club itself to sort out many of the current issues. I wish him well, but then I wished ETH well too when he was appointed. Amorim is a tough coach: the players ligning up for the next game are the ones who perform the best during the week's training. If you don't "eat the grass" as we say in Portugal, you are out!
    Few years ago, under Amorim, he pushed out Slimani, arguably our best striker at the time, simple because he didn't push himself enough during training.
    This was controversial but in the end, Amorim was right: the team became super meritocratic and everyone pushes themselves to their absolute limit. On top of that, out with Slimani, and later on we got Gyokeres.

  • @lunaticpunter3560
    @lunaticpunter3560 Месяц назад +18

    You are putting Amorim on a pedestal. Be careful because that pedestal could fall very quickly. Let's talk about what no one wants to discuss: Amorim's weaknesses, which cost us two championships. First, let me clarify that Amorim has been at Sporting for five years and won two championships. The first was during the COVID season when Benfica and Porto suffered greatly from the pandemic, facing long absences of key players!
    The second championship he won was largely due to the signing of two top players, Gyökeres and Hjulmand. Interestingly, both were initially rejected by Amorim, but the management went ahead and signed them anyway, as he himself admitted. We can start our discussion here:
    Amorim is terrible at recruiting! Dozens of players came to Sporting only to turn out to be major failures, some even leaving in the same season they arrived!
    Amorim is very stubborn. This stubbornness cost us two championships! He insisted one striker was enough, and kept flops like Esgaio in the team!
    Amorim only knows one playing system. He only knows how to play with three central defenders and with the goalkeeper playing out from the back. Sporting struggles immensely against teams that press high. He’s incapable of preparing an alternative system and can only play this way.
    Amorim is very poor at reading the game. United fans will quickly realize this! He makes substitutions without any logic, completely out of context, often disrupting the team's rhythm!
    Don’t believe everything he says! He lies a lot! He’s not a man of his word! He said United was the club he wanted, but last year he got on a plane to England to sign for West Ham while the Portuguese championship was ongoing! This year, he abandoned the project, the club, and the players after just 10 matches. He will do the same with you!

      @@Rando109 I can't say. When Sporting hired him, they made a blind bet, he had no experience nor did he yet have the title of coach. He made a lot of mistakes, but he also evolved. The biggest mistake you can make is thinking that if you were successful in one place, you will be successful in another! Sporting tolerated all the mistakes he made, he was patient. I don't know to what extent united works like this. I just expose the weaknesses he has and that after 5 years he still has them! Sporting is a team with many gaps, very little versatile, which Goykeres' goals hide! What I want to tell you is not to expect miracles. Don't even go along with the media hype!

    I'm a united fan but when people mentions Klopp took 4-5 years to win a major trophy, they need to mention the context and whole picture as well. He had to rebuild a team and club which has been a failure for decades. And most importantly, we could see instant impact and identity from klopp. Liverpool had the same dominating, high energy style throughout klopp era. They were making major strides in the league and europe and everyone knew liverpool were going to win big and go places eventually with klopp. So, the point is, even though managers need time and patience, there needs to be a clear impact and style of play and conviction of progression in that time, like klopp brought from day 1. Not the kind of vague fugazi 'progress' we were apparently making under ole. It needs to be un-debatable, for everyone, that united is going places with the manager, regardless of current results.

    Jamie Redknapp ain't so bright. Man Utd had to give Erik Ten Hag THE ONE YEAR CONTRACT EXTENTION, that was already part of the deal he has signed 3 years ago. He wasnt given a new contract like this guy is saying. Erik deserved it, 2 trophies in two years, made one more FA Finale, had struggled with injuries last season, he had every right to be given one more chance. If you expect Amorim is going to bring two trophies in two seasons then you are wrong. Game against Chelsea has shown that the players need to take the blame and not the manager, because that bunch is uncoachable.

    Too many players throw their arms up at each other. Like they just want to shift the blame to another player if a passage of play doesn’t work. People have already mentioned their names in the comments and I think those same players hold too much power and are toxic with it

  • @nc3music920

    I think Neville is right in saying United shouldn't buy anyone in January. Give it the next 9 months to implement a coherent style of play, then next summer the manager will know exactly where they are short, then work to locate the best possible players in these positions. Its the most sensible approach

      Hogwash! Agree that he will be able to better judge the players within the team. But he should move some, if he can, that he deems surplus or below par, and get others that better suits his tactics, if possible. Or he will be left with a bigger gap or job in the new season.
