I remember Keown had Jay Jay tight against the sideline, then out of nothing him flicking the ball over his own head and Martin Keown's head then running past him, as an Arsenal fan I was applauding and laughing at that.
The Jay-Jay goal was in the semi-final of the EFL cup which is why I think it gets forgot, had it been in the premier league or he played for one of the top 4 I'm sure it would be talked about more. While not on par with Roberto Carlos effort during Tournoi de France it definitely had the same feel to it. That was a great Bolton side that Sam built which still got unfairly tagged as a 1 dimensional long ball team despite the players.
My player is Joaquin Sanchez. There was a point in time where him and CR7 were the considered the best wingers in world football. He was insane. He was quicker and stronger than CR7, much more direct than CR7, less about the tricks, he still did some and loved a stepover but usually he would just destroy fullbacks with his pace, strength and dribbling. He had incredible close control. He just never kept it up consistently, had a few injuries and dont really know what happened. He was a La Liga legend retiring at a very good age. But ppl here in the UK forget how good he was in his peak younger years. I remember in a friendly where he tore Ashley Cole to shreds, the most I had ever seen a player dominate Cole.
He was good, probably on par with ronaldo on his day, but not better than. And as for the injuries, he was actually a player with a reputation of being always available, rather than someone hampered with injuries,, something thats evident when you consider he played into his 40s in la liga, which is impressive in itself.
Okocha cannot, in no way, shape or form, be in the, "one-hit wonder", category. To say so is to imply nothing else outside English football matters. For those who aren't aware, Okocha qualified Nigeria for the World Cup in '94 for the first time and they easily got out of the group, beating, Greece, Romania(Hagi, Lacatus et al) etc. They were 3 minutes away from eliminating Italy in the next round. At the time Africa had only 3 berths for the World Cup, so the qualification itself was an achievement. Okocha won AfCon '94 against Zambia. He won the Olympics in '96. They qualified for France '98 and easily got out of the group, beating Spain. He was doing the business in France and Germany day in and day out. Famously keeping Ronaldinho on the bench, no less. What more could he have done at Bolton?? They didn't have the players. They didn't have a manager who knows how to win things. Talksport should do better than the surviving members of the "3 stooges".

Streets won't forget Tugay Kerimoğlu, Sir Alex Ferguson said if he was 10 years younger he'd be playing for Man Utd. Incredible passing range and an absolute dynamite long shot. Played in the Premier League till he was 38 and smoked 20 a day.
ah Aimar - the Hobbit who could play football, he was a class player. Riquelme was class too, one of those players who was about as fast as a 70 year old pensioner with diabetes but his passing and vision were among the top 10 in world football at the time.
@@Fractalchemystic Not saying all that. I’m just saying they don’t actually know what the streets won’t forget means because they aren’t from that type of crowd. So instead of researching it, they just went with what they assumed

I see more and more people saying this. I've always been a massive fan of Danny, just seems like a down to earth bloke and some really good stories and experiences of the game
Danny knows he's football same as Shearer, who is a great pundit. Hence both of them on motd. You say boring, what is you want them to do? Do a dance whilst they talk.. 😂
During his time in the premier league Jay-Jay was never, in no stretch of the imagination a one hit wonder, he did it till his legs fell off. Again, Ignorant English media not knowing anything outside their league lol He did it

Juan Roman Riquelme. Mesmerising. His highlights are a must watch! I have an Argentina jersey with his name on the back. Pure magic !
I’d say Pablito Aimar was a cracking player, but then I may be biased since I am a River Plate supporter.😊
That Michu season was something else he was ruthless against the big teams.
J J. He was pleasing on the eye with his skills and smiles.
Moussa dembele, the Tottenham one
Underrated about how good he was. Spurs were mad to let him go.

Ockocha did this for years! Underated world class player. The only thing he didnt do was sign for top club after PSG. He doesn't belong in this list!

Musa dembele Tottenham

Lool, the quick humbling Murphy received 14:17 😂. Much respect to Riquelme though, he was a bad boy.
Try humbling yourself.
Bent is becoming a quality pundit to be fair, and Danny Murphy is starting to talk more sense then most. It’s a mental world 😂

Need more of these ones about streets won’t forget. Far too many just for one episode

Geogi kinkladze and Juninho for middlesborough

Juninho at boro first time too

Great list. Nice one lads!👍🏽Should do one for the ages - Savicevic, Boban, Crespo, Alen Boksic,
Jay Jay was at psg when a young dinho was coming through the ranks.. i would love to know how highly dinho rates him
Michu is an absolute legend in Swansea based on that one season. Just such a shame the injuries plagued him and he had to retire so young.
RIQUELME ❤❤
To add a few that weren’t mentioned.
Hatem Ben Arfa.
Dimitar Berbitov.
Papis Cisse.
Dimitry Payet.
Paulo Di Canio.
OMG Payet was a real baller even Walker with his pace wont catch him. He was a tricky customer
Ill forget Eboue first 18 months at Arsenal. He was shutdown king at RB. Before the downfall
Moussa Dembele from Spurs…glides in the midfield
Zaha and Bemba Cisse
Lionel Morgan who played briefly for Wimbledon deserves an mention but had to retire early due to injury
Brilliant on Championship Manager.
I would have to go for Djalminha, Ben Arfa and Moussa Dembélé. Their technical ability is up there with the best
