Clear and consice information. I dismantle my furnace every spring to give it a proper cleaning. Also clean the blower in the spring and fall along with other preventive maintenance items. My 5 ton split system is going on 25 years and I expect 25 more.
Yeah, every time I have a flame rectification issue and the burner compartment or the combustion box is all rusty. It’s a selling tactic that I use to sell them a new furnace.
Please speak about and photo graph the part of the flame that is burning in the slots (channels )between the burners. I understand that these are meant to carry the flame from burner to burner. How much flame may they support? That flame is not inside the exchanger. Can there be too much flame in those channels? Can the size of flame be controlled? What does a healthy burner look like when viewed from the side where the flame is moving across the channels?
It's important to keep them right side up due to how the gas travels in the crossover tube from burner to burner. Even if it does work at first there's likely to be problems with rollout or proving flame.
how do you properly clean a 80 % furnace natural gas, that ran on propane and sooted up until the roll out trip.I found it like that and made the conversion,i removed inducer and hooked shop vac and flush with nitrogen, any other suggestion.
That is very difficult. I prefer to replace it but you can pull the furnace separate the burners remove the inducer, and the collection plate to fully expose the heat exchanger. Blow the heat exchanger out and then run some large pipe cleaner type brushes into the heat exchanger. Some models are designed that does not let that happen. Be sure and check for cracks. They typically overheats and crack the bottom section of the heat exchanger. It's labor intensive, makes a mess and has no guarantee.
Brass would be best so it scratches the surface of the galvanized burner heads the least while still cleaning the rust off well. You don't want to remove too much metal, ottherwise the channels become too large.
Question I have a new gas hvac furnace but how come my heater just kicks in when the weather is warm. When it is really cold it doesnt blow hot air eventhought the system is on?
@@youknowwhatdaysayinhoe5646 I would make sure the burners and spuds are clean and free of rust just like int the video. Also check the outlet pressure at the gas valve and make sure it's good. Make sure the burners are in the right order and right side up.
Awesome!!
Absolutely a perfectly done video. Thanks for making and sharing this information with everyone!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you found it informative!
Great stuff, you know I’m taking a mirror and going to inspect my burners right now

Thanks Ty. Very informative video.
Looking forward to the next one .👍👍👍
Great timing as I was going to inspect my furnace today! Thanks for the valuable info.
Great Demonstration - Tks for posting
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Ty. Love your content. Have learned a lot from your videos
Thanks Ty very informative video really appreciate your knowledge and how you communicate it to us.👍
Great video TY .
Thank you for the great video
Id love for a video on the Ultra low nox burners that are becoming more prevalent.
I will see if I can get one here and make a video on it
Great video Craig!! I would really like to see a video explaining the function of a PTAC unit. The ones in hotels
A lot of good info. Thanks!
Never thought about rust on the burner disrupting the flame rectification.

Useful info.
Glad it was helpful!
By the way great info i am taking notes 📝 love the channel
Glad to hear it!
You didn't mention that the end burner"s flame travel slots are crimped or riveted closed and must be put back in the correct end positions.
super!

Q - at 8:10 you put the inshot burner in upside down, can these go both ways?

It was a mistake and it should not be upside down! Excellent catch!

No cracks,1 year old.thanks for the tip and for posting.@@love2hvac
Great video! One question is it preferred to use a brass wire brush or is steel acceptable
Brass would be best so it scratches the surface of the galvanized burner heads the least while still cleaning the rust off well. You don't want to remove too much metal, ottherwise the channels become too large.
Thanks 👍
Hi Ty, what are the differences between a coldroom and a freezer room
A freezer will be below freezing and a cold room will be above freezing
Is it okay to use some tipe of rust a way spray or is not recommended???

HVAC maintenance tech:
Came across a gas furnace with yellow flame all the way across. How do you correct this issue??
Is it a modern furnace or an old furnace? Does it have a crack on the heat exchanger?
@@caru3257 America standard. 3-5 years old. No crack.
@@youknowwhatdaysayinhoe5646 are you getting and co2 on a meter? That’s weird, maybe replace the gas valve

great video!
What color of flame should Natural gas and Propane be? Great video by the way
Blue, don't worry to much about small yellow flicking of yellow at times. Most likely dust burning off.
I just installed a new exchanger and seeing a small amount of constant rollout. I'm gonna check the burner alignment. Thanks.
