Great vid. Also, if you forgot your charger, you can go tell the front desk you lost your charger and they'll bring out a box of lost chargers for you to pick from
In addition to your wonderful tips here are a few hotel tips and tricks of my own. Before I even open my bags I do: - Bed bug checks around the bed perimeter (have found them twice - once in a very popular oceanfront hotel, the other in a 4 star business hotel). - Open every drawer in the room. I’ve found everything from left items from previous guests to bugs munching on food left in a drawer. - Run water in the tub and sink, checking for clogged or slow drains. Finding that out as soon as you’re in the room is much better than while you’re brushing your teeth or during a shower as the water rises up your legs.
Extra tip: Are you staying in a room with someone you don't like? Brew them a hot cup of tea using that tea bag that was sitting in your shoe all night. Yum!
I did this too when I visited the US. It didn't seem to get rid of the coffee taste though (I'm a herbal tea drinker usually). I also recommend this for electric kettles - boil tip boil tip boil and then use for yourself.
Thank you for those nice tips. Next time I'll use Tip #10 Photograph room number. I usually forget my room number ^.^ Another tip to prevent wrinkle on any clothing is to pack between two layers of plastic bag (you can use the one from the dry cleaners) and roll the garment and this will prevent about 90% of the wrinkles. I used to do that on my business trips and last month I even rolled my daughter's wedding gown and my dress with plastic garment bag to Hawaii and was perfect without any wrinkles.
Useful tips. Lol I take a photo of where I parked & surroundings particularly when I'm in a new place or parking somewhere different than my usual at the shopping centre.
Tip #16 - use priceline or any other bidding site to get the best deal by bidding on your room. I use to get 4 star hotel rooms for $60 (reg $200+) from those sites. Tip #17, if you do not travel for a living a stay at a nice hotel can be like a carefree miniature vacation, even in your own city (use bidding tip). When you need a break or to just get away from daily life you'd be surprised how relaxing it can be to unwind at a nice 3 or 4 star hotel, enjoy the bar/lounge, pool, sauna, hot tub etc.
As someone who has worked in hotels, usually if you mention the online price (priceline, expedia, booking.com, etc.) to the front desk they will match the price. Also, never go through a reservation center, always ask to make the reservation via the desk as they will give you the best information about the hotel.
I stay in hotels pretty constantly for the past 7 years and I thought I’d come see if there’s something I can learn and I will say you did not let me down lol the coat hanger on the curtains is genius!
I can give everyone a heads up having dated a few flight attendants- it is WELL known in the Airline community that COFFEE MAKERS make a convenient alternative to a washing machine!! Many flight attendants put their undergarments & socks in a coffee maker and simply run boiling water thru the machine- the "laundry" then sits for a few minutes to "cleanse" and then they pour off the water into the bathroom sink, and hang their garments over the Air Conditioner on full...
Next time try Laughlin, Nevada, 90 miles south of Vegas, on the Colorado River and about the same distance from Los Angeles. That’s the place to have fun. Jet ski businesses are beginning to buy up all the cheap commercial property straight across the river from Harrah’s casino in Old Bullhead City, AZ. The area that you are showing on the left side (north side) of the park is exactly where City of Bullhead is developing a commercial boat ramp. Some places you can live in while having a great investment at the same time because it’s zoned for commercial but some places are grandfathered in already so they can’t make you move. Plus you are walking distance to the Colorado River and have a great view of the casinos on the opposite side of the river.
Love this video Chris. Lots of cool Hotel hacks. Love the one about the power strip. You can actually buy a 3 in 1 powerstrip at Dollar Tree. But you forgot one, for those nasty bullet holes in the wall, you may want to pack your bullet proof vests! one for you and OC girl. lol lol ok just kiddin...anyway, awesome tips! Keep the videos coming. :) Scott the BBB guy
In some hotels they use your room card to turn on the power, so you can't charge electronics when you leave the room. However usually the receptacle for the fridge is always on. So i usually bring a power bar when i travel and plug it into that receptacle and i always have power even if i leave the room.
In Most Hotels you can Put anything you want in this Slot. On my last Trip to spain, i had my member Card for the local Hardware Store in that Slot for two weeks
Smart idea with the curtains and clips on the hangers. The gap in the curtains always bugs me, glad to know I can fix it! I will be trying your recommendations for food when I travel to Oahu next month as well. Any tips on Luau's? Keep up the great videos, very entertaining!
Thanks Kelsea! I really like the Luau and night time show at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Its totally manufactured but the night time show is amazing
These are some great tips! Thank you very much for making this video! Tip 3 would be especially helpful for me since I find that more and more hotels don't have the curtains close all the way which brings in a lot of unnecessary light when I sleep.
Started watching your videos lately especially the Vegas and la ones and your the only travel RUclipsr I find interesting and informative! These are such good tips!!!!
Man, I've cooked SO much stuff in coffee makers! I travel a lot and eating out gets pretty old. I try to get kitchenette units wherever I go, but that's not always possible. I've cooked anything from Kraft Dinner, hot dogs, ramen and a slew of other things in hotel kettles and it works just fine. Clean them out REALLY well though, or your stuff will have a hint of coffee taste for sure. You can hit up a grocery store and pick up addon things to those items to round it out. Sure, it's frat-boy food, but when you're hungry and exhausted from non-stop meetings, it's great and fast.
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you !! I came to a hotel this evening and found, yet another room, that the curtain didn’t close all the way. I grabbed the hanger with the clips out of the closet and the problem is solved. Thank you so much!
Great video, loved the tips! One thing I really missed in US hotels was an electric kettle in the rooms. Those coffee makers are kind of ok but the water always has the faint taste of coffee, even after running multiple cups through. :( warms up fast tho.
i do like the tea bag trick; I was in shenzhen for a business trip and it rain pretty much non stop for a entire week and I got some smellly shoes! thanks for sharing!
Here's another little tip for when you have to charge stuff when you leave your room. Most rooms that require a key card to turn on the power to the room, don't allow you to leave something in the room charging while you're out if you need to charge something urgently (like camera battery/powerbank). Those plugs tend to turn off once the key card is removed. However the power to the TV or fridge almost always remain on. So where possible I just use those plugs to charge my stuff while I'm out of the room. Not always possible or easily accessible, and obviously make sure the fridge isn't full or going to defrost and make a mess. But does come in handy when I need stuff to charge while I'm out of the room.
awesome list chris, thank you. tip 13 lol, i can see myself putting together a 3 course meal courtesy of the coffee maker! ha ha! jokes aside, another hack is to grab any grab-ables, fruits, muffins etc from the complimentary breakfast and bring back to your room for morning tea / afternoon snack. or better yet, load up a tray with your breakfast, plus anything thats not bolted down, and take back to your room. it saves a little money in expensive cities and you need a snack. also, alot of the hotels i stay at have barista coffee (like espresso coffee, latte, machiato etc), and its made however you like for free, so make sure you always get a coffee to go when you finish your breakfast, it saves a few dollars if you were looking for a coffee upon exiting your hotel for the day.
I carry a shower head without a flow restrictor and an adjustable wrench. I also pack large binder clips for the curtains, plus to keep USB cords on the desk. but thanks to your tip, I won't need them.
I have not stayed at a hotel in a long long while with lack of power. All Marriotts like the one you filmed in, have a plethora of plugs and usb plugs right on the desk. The answer to many of those needs is simply stay at a better hotel... :). Casual folks will just suffer for a few nights... for alarm clock just set it on your phone... “hey Siri, set alarm for xxx.”
If your plug has 3 outlets you're using one they give you so you're really only gaining 2. Sorry, had to say it but this is one of the best tips especially on a cruise ship for sure.
Great vid. Also, if you forgot your charger, you can go tell the front desk you lost your charger and they'll bring out a box of lost chargers for you to pick from
Great tip.. thanks Peach!

I like this guy... Such a homie
Drew Heney is it the guy from the kids show blues clues
Me and all my homies love yellow productions
I stay in 50-75 hotels a year and the best tip was the pants hanger to close the gap in the drapes.
Bill L what tips do you share- turd?
Bill L ...... really? What the heck do you do?
I use strong hair clips
Extra tip: Are you staying in a room with someone you don't like? Brew them a hot cup of tea using that tea bag that was sitting in your shoe all night. Yum!
Hah!
Not cool

That was hilarious 😂😆

I like how this guy is ten times more interesting then any of my teachers
A tip I remind myself constantly: travel light.
That's a good one :)
I always carry a power strip when traveling. It's not only useful for hotels but airports when the outlets are crowded
Great tips. There is a saying,” one is never too old to learn something new “ . I most certainly did. Thank you so much.
Thanks Steve!
Yellow Productions . You are truly welcome. Please keep up the great work 👍
I travel every week for work, and appreciate the tips. I also take a photo of my rental car license plate as some hotels still request it on check in.
That's a good tip too! I usually hope that it's on the keys to the car, but it isn't always
Probably the best episode I have watched on your channel. I'm not saying I don't enjoy the rest of them, but I love life hacks!
Thanks Michael!
That Towel on the bottom of the door prevents weed Smoke from getting out too!
I asked for an extra towel and used it as a Shower-mat, I kept slipping around and nearly spilled my beer.
Good advice, especially when staying in Vegas baby!
Your still the only one that cant "smell" it lol
Don't forget to clean the coffee maker and brew a batch of water before you use it for anything including coffee.
+David Macchia good tip!
I did this too when I visited the US. It didn't seem to get rid of the coffee taste though (I'm a herbal tea drinker usually). I also recommend this for electric kettles - boil tip boil tip boil and then use for yourself.
David Macchia Just don't use it, period. People do duscusting things with them.
Such as?
Good tip as I always pee in the coffee maker.
Dude, that last tip is the best of all, because I will forget what room I'm in if I don't take the card envelope with me. Good tip!!
Actual Pro tips. Thx
Thanks link light!

Thanks Chris for the useful tips. Also, you can use shower caps to put your shoes in too so they don't dirty the clothes in your luggage.
Thanks for the tip on the shower caps!
Mあに That’s in the video
He said that in the video
Useful tips. Lol I take a photo of where I parked & surroundings particularly when I'm in a new place or parking somewhere different than my usual at the shopping centre.
+Marie Tielmann Good tip for finding your parking spot!
This was surprisingly entertaining and helpful. I enjoyed it.
+shelby Archer Thanks Shelby! :)

+Janet Thanks Janet!
These were actually all really good tips especially the coat hanger for the drapes
Thanks Pat!
Nice, I just created a new flavor of tea

I instantly got that alarm clock app👍🏻
Nice I like the hangar to close the window trick . I have to use that
Cool,, I always use the shower steam trick when I travel...it works great!!!
I stay in hotels pretty constantly for the past 7 years and I thought I’d come see if there’s something I can learn and I will say you did not let me down lol the coat hanger on the curtains is genius!

It might be icky, but 100%true unfortunately...
Yikes! Tea bags in shoes and used underwear in coffee makers. I'll just go to Starbucks then. :)
yuuupp
You've gotta be kidding me! Lucky I don't drink coffee. Omfg that's just incredibly selfish

I leave my spare hotel card in the slot to keep everything on!
In Most Hotels you can Put anything you want in this Slot. On my last Trip to spain, i had my member Card for the local Hardware Store in that Slot for two weeks
I ran into that for the first time in Nigeria.
@@Menirules: Damn, what's with all these random capital letters?
Hi Chris, thanks for a really useful list of hotel hacks. So many good ideas.
Thanks caring lady!
Good tips about tea bags and taking a photo of room also take photo of where you are parked at the airport or any big parking lot
great tips...liked the curtain closing pants hanger one especially. I been in that situation and the morning sun comes right in
Thanks Mike!

Be careful. There's a comment that said flight attendants use coffee makers to run their socks and underwear through as makeshift laundry machines.
alex madio flight agents are beasts jesus
Good tips Chris! Thanks for sharing. I especially enjoy your Las Vegas videos.
Love your videos very informative and to the point
Thanks Rodrigo!
these tips are actually legit, cheers

+KeLL*StaR Yeah.. we don't really do electric kettles all that much in the US. Some hotels have them.. but mostly they are coffee makers
@@YellowProductions I have a special travel kettle I sometimes bring. It makes about two cups. I think they have more expensive even smaller ones.
i do like the tea bag trick; I was in shenzhen for a business trip and it rain pretty much non stop for a entire week and I got some smellly shoes! thanks for sharing!
My pleasure Robert!
Although now when I stay in a hotel and fancy a cup of tea I will be wondering if some dirty git has been fumigating their trainers with the bag....
I stay at hotels dozens of nights each year. These were all shockingly good.
Thanks Ron!
These are clever but the tv usb one prompted me to actively like and comment. Great video!
Thanks Mariya and welcome to the Yellow Productions Crew!

+ozzycarnut Good tips on package meals to go! I carry a big zip-lock bag for just such an occasion! :)
Always go to the VIP checkin, and ask for a water. They just give you one, flash your room key and no questions asked.
These are actually great tips! Thank you!
Take a small fan too.
Good tip!

Good stuff here buddy.. Love your videos..

Great hotel tips, some hotels charge for alarm clocks and for wakeup automated phone calls, having phone chargers is a necessity as well..
Some tips I can find useful. New subscriber here, only took 2 videos lol and I was hooked.

Chris, what kind of Nikes are those? They seem great for walking! Also I definitely do the wrinkled shirt in the bathroom as well
Hi Avi. A discontinued Air Max model. Now I'm in to Hoka Bondi shoes
I like your power strip. Where did you get it? Amazon???
Unfortunately the one I have isn't made by Monster anymore.. but yes, Amazon sells similar power strips
Awesome tips! Thanks!
Thanks adamy323
I have not stayed at a hotel in a long long while with lack of power. All Marriotts like the one you filmed in, have a plethora of plugs and usb plugs right on the desk. The answer to many of those needs is simply stay at a better hotel... :). Casual folks will just suffer for a few nights... for alarm clock just set it on your phone... “hey Siri, set alarm for xxx.”
I manage a Hilton at night and we have USB plugs on the lamps.
Damn, I like that little LED light for at night.
Glad you found that tip useful!
I use the decaf coffee bags in my shoes
Nice!
If your plug has 3 outlets you're using one they give you so you're really only gaining 2. Sorry, had to say it but this is one of the best tips especially on a cruise ship for sure.
+Winston Byrd Yes. Your math is better than mine :)
Well, your multi- _outlet,_ not plug. But yeah, you beat me to saying this by almost a year!
Hey rookie roll that towel diagonal and it covers the whole door leak not just the middle...
Thanks for turning on expert mode! :)
one of the best hotel hacks, cause that damn door light is very bright when it's pitch dark inside
Excellent
Gotta love the ironing board AND getting rid of the shirt wrinkles.
