I work in a 3star hotel in Canada (the GTHA) in housekeeping.
I was the room glasses in the kitchen dishwasher because it's the safest.
Also we have a schedule for deep cleaning rooms and ALL the bed linens including the pillows, duvet, etc
I'm usually in the laundry. Bed linens and towels are washed daily.
Informative vid & I learned new hacks - thanks

I work in a 5 star hotel in Scandinavia. Average room rate is 700 -14000 eur per night. And I can TELL YOU, that I would NEVER use kattle, cups, remote, water carrafe, fancy pillows / blankets in the hotel... and also bathtub... we clean them with the same cleaning rug.. glasses and toilets... and kattles? We just dry them with the same cleaning rug from the toilet. Remote.. we just dust them, as desinfectants can damage the plastic and leave a stain. And the blankets amd pillows? We NEVER EVER fash them ... my reccomendation is, if you are in a mid of higher end hotel, ask to vhange you sheets upon arrival ( just spill water on them ), and ask for additional kattle ( as those extras are rarely used.. U saw asian guests wash their socks in the kattles... the same about Sofas and chairs.. ask for extra sheet anf place it on the sofa to sit, as you can get rash from that. When you are inside of the room, place a chair next to a door. Bathtub and bsthroom floor? We just check if it "looks" clean... if you want clean glsses, ask in a hotel restsurant of csffeteria, as they sre properly washed each time.. :) Thank me later ;) 💜💙💚🧡💛

That's why it's better not to use the hotel rooms stuff as much as possible , just bring along important stuff or buy them in the Supermarket upon arrival in small sizes so we can leave them behind when our stays are ended! 🙏 Many Happy Good Blessings in Return! 🕯🌷🌿🌏💜🕊

Please, if you use the ironing board and/or iron for anything but ironing clothes cover it with a towel! I was going to a wedding and needed to give my husband's shirt and my dress some attention. My husband couldn't take his jacket off because of a stain all over the back of his shirt and my dress was ruined. Sure, hacks are nice, but PLEASE be considerate of others who may need to use the items for their proper purpose after you!

I have seen owners visibly upset watching this type of theft occurring. Be kind in all you do. Do not try to take advantage of people, just because you can.

Good tips but be considerate. Water kettle shouldn't be used for cooking noodles or eggs. Encouraging travellers in doing so may eventually stop hotels from providing water kettles. I read news that a traveller even boiled her underpants in the kettle!

    • @curtisgregory517

As a hotel owner for 36 years, I agree,,, "Good tips but be considerate."
The stories of inconsiderate people are endlessssss.
the ice bucket used for the dogs' water bowl.
The nicer the towels, etc. the hotel buys in wanting to supply the best, it ends up increasing the temptation of people with sticky fingers (theft).
Motorcyclists use towels to check the oil and wipe down their bikes.
People "forget" to declare their animals and children when registering and when confronted for payment they claim their animals and children used nothing.
Reservations, most people fail to read the cancelation policy, and when they cancel they don't want to pay the penalty they agreed to when making the reservations.
Reviews, 98% of people do not write reviews, 1% write honest and helpful reviews, 1% write trumped-up reviews after they were confronted for taking advantage of the hotel.

Rather than getting a travel extender (3-way plug) I would get a small power strip that has at last 3 plugs on it and at least a 2 or 3 ft cord. This will help remedy two potential issues: plugs that are in inconvenient places, like behind the bed, and it gives you extra plugs. Some even have USB ports so you can charge USB devices as well as acting a power strip and surge protector. I think I picked up a TrippLite 3-plug/2-USB travel power strip for about $30 and it's been a life saver since many hotels I've been in haven't had enough outlets or they are behind the TV or something. This one power strip/surge protector lets me charge my phone, tablet, and two camera chargers at the same time.

People "forget" to declare their animals and children when registering, then when confronted for payment they claim their animals and children used nothing.

@@nellgrill3845 sure clean ice buckets are provided with a new plastic bag. But, using the ice bucket to feed/water animals is a misuse of the ice bucket. this is the same as using the towels to clean/check the oil in your motor cycle

We had one person use the coffee maker to melt a giant tub of Vicks vapor rub. Had to bin it. Lots of people cooking noodles, spices food etc stinking out the whole hotel. We also had a contract with an airline and the hostesses used to cut and dye their hair leaving it all over the floor and bathroom. Uckk

I think I found throughout the years traveling with my parents to help if you have a physical disability or so mania part is that they know what you’re tricking them a very private and wheelchair is the worker I need a cane to get around and it might give you a ground-floor room if not they will put it onto a note saying thatI guess on a higher floor is handicapped and cannot use the stairs so if they were to be evaluation they know that they need to send somebody up to help that guest down not this is important for some places they go out to California my dad da I guess on a higher floor is handicapped and cannot use the stairs so if they were to be a valuation they know that they need to send somebody up to help that guest down not this is important for some places they go out to California they asked if anybody in the pole was disabled and my dad said well my daughter is blind and I laughed at him that I came on the corners and they stopped laughing oh you’re serious and that’s like what do you think I have a joke about my driving by and they said OK but why not saying that there’s a zero gas in that room for 30 there’s a motive we know to send somebody to help get her down Safeway but I thought they laughed at first thinking my dad was joking was not cool at least if they were having a notary was like really wasn’t I would’ve been able to be saved and my dad who was already up there in age but I’ve had to carry me down himself and put it into himself

    *Like 3 doors opening*
    AAAAAUHHHAHA
