Here are some super hotel tricks that every traveller should know about. They sound crazy but are so simple you will wonder why you hadn’t thought of them before. Many travellers, especially those on a long business trip find themselves in hotels for long stretches of time. Eating meals at restaurants or ordering room service day after day becomes quite a bore. Sometimes you crave nothing more than a simple home-cooked meal. With these amazingly creative hotel tricks, you’ll be able to cook yourself a healthy meal using a tea-maker and iron, appliances that are readily available in most hotels.
The next time you are stuck in a hotel that doesn't offer free breakfast, don't worry. You can still fix yourself a good home-cooked hot breakfast in your hotel room.
There are also some great tips and tricks in this video for those travelling on a budget. Hotel laundry services are usually quite expensive. With the simple tips and hotel tricks shown here, you’ll never have to worry about dirty jeans or smelly clothes any more.
If you are a tourist, the last thing you need is your mobile with the fancy camera dying on you. This video shows you how you can charge your phone without a charger!
In most hotels, the power switches off the moment you leave the room. This is pretty annoying when you come back to a warm room after spending the whole day outdoors. This video shows you how you can keep the AC on so that you come back to a room cooled to perfection.

I work in a hotel and I can tll you we HATE people who try to cook in the electruic kettles!
lol sucks
It's disgusting and I hope they get all the mineral deposits from the hard water in their food.
Repels me too ugggghhhh!!!!!
+Maria Dellaporta Yeah its completely retarded. This whole video is fucking stupid. Paying for a hotel then being a fuckin hobo
+Maria Dellaporta I was just saying it is HELLA nasty. Who the hell does these things. The people after you have manky noodles left in there if no-one realises it needs to be cleaned. Jeez, they can just travel with an insulated mug and let the noodles soak in the boiling water!
Its a hotel room, not a prison.
shows how little you respect yourself.
😂
😂
Cooking in the kettle was so grossly inconsiderate for the next user. Unless the kettle was yours, in which case you can do whatever the fuck you want with it.
Indeed. So damn inconsiderate!!!
Standard high line Hudson studio
If you were really a smart traveler, you would have been prepared. SMH Some of these tips are rather gross. Other people use the equipment in there too.
Please do not cook in the water kettle or on the iron. Makes it so difficult for underpaid maids to clean up :'-(
+EC Hawaii The person who made this video also saves money by not leaving a tip for housekeeping. My brother worked in housekeeping for a large hotel chain and he had to clean up after a lot of jerks. Most just figure that people who work in housekeeping clean 12 rooms an hour and must therefore earn $24 an hour in tips plus minimum wage and thus are highly paid and don't work hard when they know nothing about it. The average hotel housekeeper cannot do an adequate job in under fifteen minutes and most take more like twenty and they literally are running around exhausted. The truth is only a quarter of all hotel guests leave any kind of a tip. Travelers who stay in high priced hotels assume that all the workers are very highly paid and that is not true. The average hotel worker makes twenty five cents an hour above minimum wage. Most people believe hotel workers make a killing in tips when the average housekeeping tip, regardless of length of stay is $2 for the entire stay and that is average among those who actually leave a tip. People who work in housekeeping get an average of about $5 a day in tips from travelers. Often they are required to give their supervisors a cut, up to half. Sometimes they have to give the hotel part of their tip, up to half. They have to declare their tips on their taxes and often they have to subtract tips from their wages. In other words, most people who work in housekeeping make almost nothing in tips in the end.
But they have to put up with a lot. In my brother's ten years in housekeeping he found in rooms:
Three dead bodies
over 50 dead animals (cats, dogs, monkeys parrots etc.)
over one thousand times he found feces in places other than the toilet
Television, lamp, telephone cords cut
Missing fridges, irons, mattresses, furniture, toilet tank, sink, television, door, thermostats, faucets, carpet, phone
three times murals painted on the wall by guests who thought they were Michelangelo
remnants of a campfire (smoke detectors disabled)
Cement poured down the toilet, sink, tub drain.
dozens of broken windows and mirrors
A hole cut in the wall to gain entry to the room next door.
A plastic tote with tiny air holes in it filled with thousands of live cockroaches
Live pets left behind including cats, dogs, snakes, pigs, lizards, fish in fish bowls, dozens of assorted birds, and a donkey and the mess that goes with such live animals.
Three occasions guests left behind their children, one parent was never located and said child went into the foster care system.
Cigarette burns in sheets, pillow cases, towels, carpet and curtains as well as furniture.
Hundreds of rolls of toilet paper stuffed down the toilet.
several occasions where someone took the toilet lid off a toilet tank and rigged it to run continuously, see previous item.
various cooking appliances brought by guests into hotel and left turned on and smoking.
And on hundreds of occasions unidentifiable substances staining, cemented into place, adhering to surfaces, ruining surfaces, making messes of carpets, walls, ceilings, doors, appliances, televisions.
Oh and untold hundreds, thousands of occasions when someone left nasty food messes in or on objects not intended for said food, often hardened, caked on, moldy and usually rotten and smelly.
And housekeeping is always the ones who have to clean these up and NO they don't get extra time nor extra pay to clean up the above. They still have to average under twenty minutes per room at the end of the day.
absolutely, so disgusting, I will now think twice n about this
EC Hawaii 😱😢
You can clean with the free shampoo in the bathroom.
@@nunyabiznez6381 I feel so sorry for animals and children left behind and housekeeping stuff that had to deal with all the problems you listed. Guests who leave things like that should be punished by *eating* them. Cockroaches, dead animals or rotten food, doesn't matter.
Please tell me you did not cook food in the electric kettle!!!
+annie ecco i always spit in the kettle before i check out. that why i never use those shit!!!
+XD One why? Surely your life isnt that bad
Terry Peake no, but i love fucking shit up!!!
+XD One You're fucking disgusting.
It's disgusting
Cooking in a kettle is just nasty and low-class.
+laki74 I was like wtf ppl really do this shit.. gross
Inconsiderate as well 😩
0:51 yeah, you know what most rooms also have? Outlets!
Yeah, also you can't even charge your phone when it's plugged into a TV lol
The amount of people who boil their UNDERWEAR in the hotel kettle to freshen them up is phenomenal LOL and you just cooked food in it ?!? YIKES 😂🤣
Stay at hotels a least 100 nights a year never did any of those nasty tricks.
Ok!
Set the hotel room on fire just as you're going to check out. In the ensuing panic and chaos they won't notice you raided the minibar.
If you need to do some of these things you probably can't afford a hotel
I don't seem to have any cooking material when I meant to the grocery store but lucky I brought a sheet of tin foil and bread and cheese. Genius
I also brought an egg. Just one egg.
+Khoa Huynh lmjj tr no l living ioy
Uhh... I only speck English... can you tell me what "lmjj tr no l living ioy" mean.
look at the person making the clip. Ne respect for himself of anyone.
I hope you don't really cook food in the electric kettle!!!!!! Other people use it for tea and coffee!!! Have some decency and respect! what the hell!
nutsa norakia Like Krammer(From Seinfeld) says "Don't give them the Satisfaction"
The cleaners should obviously wash it out. If they don't then they're just a nasty ass hotel that you shouldn't even be in lmao.
+CrustyNuggetGamer If people who do things like that with no self respect stay there..it already is a nasty ass pay by the hour hotel. I have made noodles before and used the ones where you pour the water into a bowl.
+nutsa norakia also, as you know, most hotels in the us don't have a kettle. Even if they have a wonky coffee maker (and these days it is mostly single-serve K-cup things) one should never pollute the water heating element. OY.
+mrsnoopyaaaaa I love seinfeld!
I love cheese sandwich trick lol
Yes
1 Great and neat hack:
Use AirBNB. it includes a kitchen
This video is now introduced by Huff Post Japan without disclaimer. As the result, many viewers got these ideas as the serious offense to the hotels and got them disgusted because they are seen as totally inappropriate, such as blowing your dirty socks by the hair dryer, cooking ramen with the hot water kettle, and cooking eggs by the iron -- I don't believe nobody gets it as an serious advice though!! It means don't practice some at all at least as you travel in Japan. They will refuse you for your second stay!
+Taka Muraji Dude, it's just a joke. Read the description!!
勘違い乙
If you're having all those raw ingredients at hand, I'm sure you have access to ready-made food
I wish I can dislike this video more than once
+Steven Nguyen I did it for you.
Honestly they could make noodles in a thermos instead of ruining the jug. A cheap thermos is like $5
+batt3ryac1d Or just get the cup noodles for microwave. Why the kettle?
Why? So gross?
Steve, you can! But you'll have to toggle it on and off, and it only ends up counting as one time anyway.
Voted down because leaving the AC on when you dont need it is a huge waste of energy.
+NerdTechGames Inc Of course, I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who owns a small guesthouse in Asia... A/C is our biggest energy suck. Lights are all LED, no pool, TVs are all LCD or LED. Regardless, it's bad practice.
That's like saying "why do you take your own bag shopping? it won't make any difference" Saving as an individual IS important as it creates a sea of change later.
Actually, turning on/off ac/heat takes up more energy than leaving it at set even temperature such as 74.
Just useless tips. Also inconsiderate - I want to boil clean water for tea in that kettle.
And, ewwww: dirty, smelly clothes? How about visiting the laundromat????
Don't use hair dryer to dry socks! It could cause fire (something bad like that)
'Deal about the 'business card' is real, especially when sharing a room and you want to be out while the other stays in. Most hotel rooms need the key+card factor and sometimes they only provide one. So placing any card with similar shape and size keeps the room running without deactivating.
+surferdudette19 i've used shopping cards, cardboard, etc.and all have worked to keep the ac running.peace
You can simply ask the hotel for a second key card.
Fun video but I will never try any of those tips. . .
...except the shirt one and charging your phone if you forgot your own charger or it broke, maybe.
Using a kettle for cooking is a bad idea. Maybe hard boiling eggs would be OK, but porridge (oatmeal) and ramen would gunk up the heating element and make the next guest have really icky tea. A better solution would be to get those cup of soups and instant oatmeal bowls where you just add hot water.
I work at a hotel and I HATE people that iron their food.
And cook in the kettle.
Fantastic tips! Love the jeans in freezer one
i wudnt like to use a kettle for cooking ..isnt it gross? its for me ...
*I *wouldn't *isn't *it's
Rob Gatzke Same thing. It's an abbreviation.

COOK FOOD. Wow amazing I bring my own so they won't get mad at me

Don't wear headphones at 0:42. Your ears will thank me later.
Hotel?
Trivago
Ooh, cool trick for cooking eggs! 😋
cant wait to use these hacks next week
You're legend, buddy! 😎👍
The kettle trick is serious dangerous. Think about the next guest who maybe has food allergies!
I definitely need to practice on that t-shirt folding thing. I can never fold right to save my life!
Luv it, thank u
Yes, fold a shirt in 3 seconds so you can spend 2 hours cooking an egg on an iron. Genius.
lolol the shirt folding thing is cool
Kraft Dinner can be made in a small 4 cup coffee maker! Just stir often, occasionally add a bit more water and be patient as it takes a while. Because there is space in the small coffee pot, you won't have much water to drain.
When you go to mix in your butter and (powdered) milk, I suggest taking some pasta from the coffee pot and putting it in a cup, because there is no room in the pot to mix without making a mess.
Tip: Take mini packs of butter, salt and pepper from hotel restaurant.
Personally I have milk and butter in my mini-fridge to make it properly, but I'd be interested to know how powdered milk would work in KD.
why would you carry a usb cord and not a charger?
t shirt folding idea is swag ! :D
This video used to be on my mom’s WhatsApp in 2014 and I used to watch it so much
Some cool travel hacks.
Personally, I dont like to cook even water in a hotel kettle. I dont know how about other people, but when I dont know when it was last properly cleaned with citric acid or white vineygar water, then I dont want to use it. It feels yucky to me... But it is me... Some like it hot, lol. I always take a small portable water heater. It is just a piece of iron with a wire. You plug it in and the piece of iron on the other end gets hot. You are supposed to put it right in your cup and in a short time voila - the water boils! It is light weight, cheap, and easy to use. And it is mine, so I know when it was last cleaned... With this equipment I can boil water not just for a nice cup of coffee or tea, but also water in a bowl to make some instant ramen (you just pour it with hot water and let it stand for 3 minutes - and there you go, dinner is ready). Or for whatever food I wish.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they included stealing bedsheet and pillow covers as well
Cool. I like the way you're folding a Tshirt very fast and tidy. I tried and it works. Thanks for your sharing.
The Gypsys of the world are proud of you
You pay for a hotel room and cook in a tea kettle like a homeless person. Yep, a true hack.
Fold like a boss it's so amazing
Cooking in an electric kettle... Disgusting...
What a brilliant idea to leave the AC on while you're not in your room.
For all people saying cooking in electric kettle it is very inappropriate for other guest in the room but what people mostly do is they boil the water then pour it in the noodles or any other foods
Watched This Video 7 Years before from whatsapp
what music are they using 😅 so satisfying 😂😂
did anyone notice the mans reflection on the bell ?hahaha
Dave hax did the t-shirt fold in 2 seconds brah
I thought this was corny till they started cookin lol. That was some good shit haha
WHERE CAN I FIND THE T-SHIRT AT THE END OF VIDEO? pls i cant find it anywhere
i love the music
I don't know about you, but I always travel with foil. Not to mention raw eggs cheese and bread. I suppose this is for when you are staying for a while. Also, if you have a fridge in your room with a freezer, no less, there is probably a microwave.
Cooking shit in the kettle is no good. The heating elements can have crust/ burnt carbon buildup on them, making them useless. Plus the heating elements have flaking metal on the surface, so you will be eating copper flakes.
Cooking Maggi in a kettle
Tut tut
Here's a thought : what about washing small items of clothing in the huge bathtub with HOT water instead of putting it in the tiny kettle..?!?
Will a snickers get the smell out of my jeans too, it's all I have
Some of these tips are rather disgusting...
Big brain
Replace food hacks with call pizza delivery take out. Done in 30 mins and cheesin'
I can make me bacon at a hotel aluminum foil and a iron I'm all set for eating bacon.👌
you're gonna have to show me that folding one more time, chief...
I've never seen a freezer in a hotel room and cooking something in the kettle is a horrible idea, especially if you are the person who has to use it afterwards. Why not just put your noodles/instant oats in a mug and pour the boiling water on?
Do you know that some people pee into the kettle as a prank?
I am a hotelier. I would not suggest making maggie in the kettle. Most of the hotels would charge you a fine upon checkout.
The electric kettle and shower cap were the most disgusting
This should be called "Poor dead broke Traveler Tips", cooking noodles on a electric kettle? WTF, just make them with boiled water on a bowl plate, otherwise its just gross....
Jeans too smelly? WASH THEM! Slobs!
lol to funny
Eww do people really cook in the Kettles? And what about having stinky wet socks on the hairdryer. I don't think that they (cleaners) would think to clean the rim of the hairdryer or the inside of a kettle. Just disrespectful to the next costomers.
Don't cook in the kettle. Go to Fucking MacDonald's. Done.
Please turn the tap OFF!
lol..there is a stove...why do u want to cook in a kettle...and cooking maggi is easy. XD
Is that what y'all do in dem kettles...
Wow you really don't known how sanitary that is
You can use a kettle to cook food. but DON'T MIX FOOD INSIDE THE KETTLE!! WTF!!?

I wouldn't recommend the drying sock technique. Tried it in the past and the dryer starter smoking
This should be hacks for college kids 😂😂
The first one made absolutely no sense at all. What would a business card have to do with leaving the air conditioner on? You either have it on or you don't.
+nunya biznez nah my family used to do the same thing, we stuff some pamphlets in the slot so that the aircon stays on. perhaps there's is a mechanism that turns it on when you slide something into the slot
the first trick doesn't always works
No shaving cream? Ask at the front desk, and use real shaving cream. :)
I dare. To cook on electric kettle...
Pretty great tips. Thanks for sharing; Jesus Christ Bless! :)
Also, don't be dumb enough to go on your trip without your phone's charger plug for mains power!
Please don’t cook in the kettle. The hotel doesn’t clean the kettles so it just leaves it gross for the next person.
For god's sake, just get ready-to-eat meals from the same grocery where the eggs, bread, slices of cheese, and aluminum foil used in this video were bought. There's absolutely no point in cooking in your room unless you like to potentially damage hotel property.
Woeww
I tried the smelly jeans hack; didn’t work!
Oh yes, I almost forgot. You can buy cups of instant noodles at convenience stores for about a dollar each. Just boil PLAIN WATER in your electric kettle and then pour that into your instant noodles. Problem solved.
