Your garden is doing AMAZING!!! OMG!
I love that we got to see your garden progress over time. Your hard work is paying off!!
I'm glad too!!! Thank you for watching
That is AWESOME!!! Way to go Momma! I love it that there will be kids in our future that KNOW where food comes from. It's so important that they know. Beautiful!!
Wise young woman❤
Awsome harvest! I had a good harvest yeasterday with tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and red noodle beans. My harvest basket was filled to overflowing, and I had to empty it and partially fill it again. After yeaterday's harvest, I harvested ten pounds of ripe tomatoes, Thornburn's Terra-Cotta, Clasic Beafsteak, Celebrity, and Grand marshall, for my sister-in-law. Pickle worms have infested my garden! I had to throw five cucumbers and two zucchini into the compost bin. I sprayed with Spinosad last night, but was too late. I was supposed to spray two days earlier, but had to delay because of rain. I'm grateful for the rain, it is the first we had all month. Two of my chicks, Bella and Rave flew out of the brooder box, and had to be chased down. I could have covered it with hardware cloth, but decided it was graduation time. I moved them out to the chicken coop, and locked them in for three hours before letting them out. It took a few hours for them to leave it and explore the chicken run. When darkness came, they were back inside the coop. They survived the night without any problems, and didn't hesitate to leave the coop when I opened the door this morning. They are happily chirping, eating starter/grower feed, grass, and bugs. After being comfined to a 26 inch square box for a few weeks, their thiorty square feet of space, less the nesting boxes which are blocked off, is like luxury digs. For now it is plentty of space for five hens. When they get larger, I'll open the chicken coop to a larger run that will give them 125 square feet of space to explore. Next year, I willl be sticking to determinant tomatoes, regrowing Grand Marshall and Ace-55. I have seeds left for Parks Whopper and Debut Hybrid, so will gow them too, and I want to try Jolene and maybe Skyway tomatoes too. (Sylacauga AL, zone 8A, but should be 6B, arguably 6A, with acutal temperatures, instead of the new weather model they are using for a climate chart. It regularly gets down into the single digits, and was zero degrees in 2014. Zero degrees and down to -4F degrees is common.
I couldn't imagine negative digits... sounds like you got it going on. What are you doing to preserve it all?
@@faithfamilyhomestead The cucumbers, I eat fresh, pickle or cut into spears and freeze, then later use them as ice cubes for tea. I core the peppers, dice them, and freeze most, and also dehydrate for use in stews and sauces. I harvest more squash than I can eat, so cut into slices, blanch, and freeze. It is too hot to can right now, so I freeze the tomatoes that I don't eat fresh. When the weather cools, I defrost them. The skins sluf right off, so no blanching is needed to remove the skins. I use them to make salsa, and can them, so I have freezer space for fall and for early spring crops. It frequently gets down into the single digits, so I don't know why they are calling my area zone 8A. If they used the actual recorded temperatures instead of a flawed weather model, it would be 6B, or arguably 6A. I have to garden using actual recorded temperatures, so my Myers Lemon tree comes inside when the forecasted temperature is below 28F. There are crops that will grow through the winter, even with snow on the ground, Swiss Chard, Kale, cabbage, broccolli, cauliflower, carrots, and more. Carrots harvested during freezing temperatures have less starch and are much sweeter.
Im in AL also nd still learning what works in this heat and doesnt work. I think next year Ill do determinate tomatoes and bush green beans. Im struggling with those 2.
It's nice to see the bad peppers that you harvested. I get discouraged sometimes when I see that, but seeing how you just no shalantly go on is encouraging. I can give more to my chickens and save more seeds😊
In an Organic Garden their will be bugs so I just keep it moving
❤That's baby girl all day long, your hubby❤
😅 yes
I so enjoy watching.
You could also dry the pulp and make cucumber salt for those times you dont have any but want that taste in your salads.

Hi Dom, The Garden is coming along great!
Can I use Organic Lawn Fertilizer 8-0-0 in place of Organic Veggie Fertilizer for gardening? It was sent to me by mistake.
Mike B-More.
I wouldn’t. It’s not balanced. That’s only going to provide nitrogen which is ok for harvesting leaf produce but not anything that is fruiting or bulbing. You could save it to try in your lettuce, greens, cabbage…
Agree with the previous comment... there are certain veggies that would do great with just nitrogen but if you want fruit you'd need something balanced unless your soil already has high amounts of Potassium and Phosphorus
