    I was in-between the a7iv and a7rv. I finally choose the a7iv not because of price, but because of the megapixels. I think many people don't think about how their computer is going to manage 61 mp files in post processing. I've been shooting the a7riii for the past year as a portrait shooter and my 2020 M1 with 16gb + 1TB is hitting a wall and slowing down. I can fill up a 2TB SSD with 5 shoots. Additionally, I've filled up a 10TB backup and moved to a 2nd 18TB backup. I can only imagine with another 20mb per file would do. * I agree with you in every aspect, I tried the a7rv for a month and loved it. Personally, I think 45 is sort of the sweet spot, I wish Sony offered a "M+" compression ~ 45 mp; instead of L or M. *BTW, I love your tip about investing in lenses. That is another reason, I choose to save a little and buy another GM (I actually bought the 24-70 GMII).

      @kepano 808 i think you have the option of downsize the sensor without cropping. If money is not the issue that solves the problem.

      The a7 R5 offers several options to downsize the raw file. Obviously you could shoot compressed, then there is three lossless raw options. Many other reviewers have look at the quality of those raw files and found that they look very good. I myself should compressed and have shot compressed on A7R3 when I owned it and currently with A7R5.

      I want to buy a A74 but when I heard Manny Ortiz and Taylor Jackson say the A7R5 was the only Sony camera they would use for AWB, it made me think again. I use my Nikon D750 constantly in manual mode with AWB and auto ISO and it works very well.
      I watched one A7R5 owner describe working this way and how well the A7R5 worked this way.
      Also you can shoot medium raw - Id only use large raw for crop mode

    I recently finally sold my trusty old A7RII and picked up a brand new A7IV and it is nothing short of phenomenal-in terms of performance, like a Rolls Royce by comparison. Only thing I will say about the A7IV is I could swear it doesn’t feel nearly as solid in my hands as my A7RII did. Am I the only one??

      I made the same switch, the newer bigger bodies feel less dense compared to the more compact third generation and older cameras. I think there is more space in the newer cameras for heat dissipation.

    Really enjoyed your take on these 3 wonderful cameras. I bought the A7RV but sold it after just 45 days. It’s a great camera, but overkill for someone like me that uses a camera mostly for content creation and a little bit of paid work. The biggest gripe I had with the camera was strangely the ‘clack’ from the mechanical shutter. It sounded rough without the e front curtain on, but that’s the way I shoot. The mechanical shutters on my A7iv and FX3 sound and feel sublime.

    Great comparison. Did you see any color difference between A7RV and A74? I have an A74 and don't like the rear lcd screen. Also, skin tones are not that pleasing. Upgrading to R5 will definitely get me a better screen but I am not sure on the colors. Do you see any difference between the two cameras? Or is it the same? Thanks.

    Plus the quality of the rear screen for both me and my clients is important, I believe the quality of the A7R5 screen is better than the A74.

      I did the same thing. I attempted to go to the A7R3 and A7R4 but ended up returning those cameras because the AF wasn't a big enough leap for me when shooting moving subjects. I shot with the A7R5 for two weeks and loved the camera. The AF for moving subjects is much better than A7RIV. Maybe this is only observed when shooting animals or birds as opposed to humans. I got a chance to buy a used A1 for $4600 so I returned the A7RV. I'm still torn between my decision so we will see how this turns out.

    • @vettepwr23
      @vettepwr23 Год назад +1

      @@MarkusGebhard This is my opinion of course, but I will summarize it like this. RE: photography, if you don't need 30 frames per second or silent shooting, then get the A7RV. Anyone coming from a prior generation Sony R camera should not have any complaints. The autofocus on the A7RV is very very good due to the AI. It's almost too easy. That holds true for humans, animals and birds. The rear display is also nicer. I can't really comment on video though as I really haven't used it yet. With that said, the A1 is a very good camera. Hope that helps.

    Hey Jared... Sorry for just now seeing this. I have a question that has me thinking of which Sony to buy next. I've used the A1 for photography and honestly it's probably the nicest color rendition in AWB mode that Sony has ever produced in my opinion. I was wondering if you have seen a similarity or difference between the A1 Color Science and the A7RV Color Science. Any thoughts on this?

    I have heard many mention that due to A1 does not have a "dedicated AI processor" on the A7RV therefore many not be possible to have the same level of subject recognition capability upgraded. "See it to believe it" is my model so I went through the teardown photos of A1, A9 II and A7RV and examined the motherboard chip layouts and found them to be mostly identical. Imagine Sony may just make one motherboard and turn features on and off to save production cost like Tesla? Then I re-watched the product announcement video for Sony A1 and found in the section of Real-time Eye AF at 9:54 and 10:41 both were mentioned by Sony on how improved A.I. technology is been implemented into A1 for subject recognition to work with the system that tracks and focus at 120/s. I think the A1 does have the A.I. chip built in and most likely runs on a fast clock speed to accommodate the 120/s calculation so it is most likely able to implement the same or higher level of subject resonation through firmware. It really just depends on Sony's willingness to add them into the new A1 firmware to keep their top customers happy. The fact is that most A1 owners with A7RV A.I. recognition ability will most likely buy the A1 II without second thought if it comes with a Global shutter sensor anyway so Sony really have nothing to worry about.

    Great video, I have the A7iv and I’m super happy with it! The only other features I’d like is the better quality resolution of the LCD and the flip & tilt articulation. Otherwise I think I’m going to be very happy for foreseeable future making stuff with my camera.

    Turn off shot affect settings then you can look at the viewfinder like it’s an optical viewfinder. I have a custom button on mine, so when I press down on the wheel, it turns the effects off.

    Id love to see a video on the A7RV vs the upcoming A7V. Do you think the A7V will have anything on the A7RV? or should I just pull the trigger on the A7RV now? On the A7V Im hoping for the AI upgrade, better autofocus, better screen and EVF resolution, faster shutter speed, better IBIS, better low light. I know, this is asking a lot! Haha Thanks for sharing! Im coming from the A7II HAHA! Im sure a huge upgrade regardless 👍🏻

    Most perfect camera so far imho, the A7R5 - as long as one overlooks cost of living with it...
    Beast PC required
    Storage
    Memory cards
    Did I mention storage?
    But yeah, still my dream. But right now my immediate goal is to update my A7Rii to an A7iv (and hopefully also obtain a Tamron 35-150 with it)

  • @NetvoTV
    @NetvoTV Год назад

    Should we just shoot in 1080p because do we really watch 4K and able to tell the differences plus it give larger storage space for you to manage and spend on too?
    Also, have you wonder like many things in life, why put so many effort just to take photos and videos and not just use phone camera to record here and there if it's not your primary work and also your content not all will get pass down and value later but lose in time plus a lot places and things you take photos already took by many others even you value art?
    And what camera setup you bring in everyday life and travel, some people use less bulky and performance camera for their own life but use fancy gears for clients and travel, why, isn't everyday life is most parts of our life which is important too and shouldn't discount to document them in high quality forms?

    Low light and color science? I am doing primarily video and I want to switch from the Nikon Z7II to Sony. Very much contemplating the a7IV because 12 MP on the a7siii is just too low. Photos are still important for me although I am focusing on video. Is there not a video centric camera with at least 33 megapixels and good lowlight? (I understand the inverse relationship between lowlight capability and megapixels). I would really appreciate suggestions from anyone.

    I returned an A7RIVA after 30 days because of how poorly it performed in low light conditions. I found out from Sony customer service that the higher resolution sensor captures less light than the lower resolution sensor of the A7RIV. To me this defeated the purpose of the higher resolution sensor since I was always having to shoot at a higher iso setting. Could you follow up on this subject because no one is talking about it.

      The all-important megapixel counts of both cameras remains unchanged, so the A7R IVa retains the same 61MP image sensor as the A7R IV. Nor are there any apparent changes made to ISO performance, continuous shooting speed, video recording options or any other core features. Instead, the upgraded specifications seem to relate entirely to the physical construction of the two cameras. ~ digitalcameraworld

    Great video share but mainly just voice and no compare action!!! He obviously has been with Sony for a short time! The mod 1 cameras had it over other makers from the start. The mod 2 cameras in only a year kicked the can with IBIS and the little known Bright Monitoring for night or splinking photographers and the greatest on both mods is on camera apps/programs the best of the best is Digital Filter just pennies compared to bag of filters. Maybe wrong but the filter industry may of asked Sony to remove the apps on future models. I used the filter app to capture the Milky Way over lit cities/towns/runways. I am just pointing out that from the beginning any all Sony cameras were way better that others for it took ten years for others to just go mirrorless and that ten years Sony is now so far ahead it may take 20 years to get even close. To add the A7s at 12MP will print a bigger than poster size print and was first with bracketing 5 @ +/- 3EV for a 2EV is great for Blue and Golden hours and the 3EV great for a sharp moon over a city again just saying also there is a pano selection on the top dial. The A7RM2 will do 3 at +/- 2EV handheld with lots of pixels even. There is more but IF you can use just any of these you can have more $ in your pocket and to buy lenses, only get what you need!!!

    A1 became a total washup By Sony they keep pushing on updates and features on the cheaper end like fx30 low end category at the expense of the A1 ! A1 is almost 3 times the price of low end Sony and twice the price of middles end models like a7 4 ! firmware's on A1 are dangerous and do mess up on overall camera some experience shutter issue blockages and some experience loss of WIFI function basically Sony tech software sucks and they wont help you on any software issue and will totally ignore you do not buy the A1 cause Sony stopped supporting it for some strange reason in the name of marketing to sell you the new A2 to come at the end of 2023 but be aware Sony does not care for its professional expensive camera but the cheaper end user so why go to the best when the focus and updates and features is with low end by sony
