- This is a long lets play showing off how to follow my best start for new players guide where I skip the security grind as well as go into more detail on what I did without editing it like a guide. I play the first two hours of the game and get set up with overpowered weapons, armor, and lots of credits to make the rest of the game a breeze.

To the random question posed at 47:00, "port" is called that as it's the side of the ship traditionally faced toward the dock, and "starboard" is the side of the ship where astrolabe readings were typically taken to estimate position. While not asked, other relevant directions on a ship are fore and aft (which are obvious), ventral (the bottom or belly), and dorsal (the back or top).

The random question was actually just a couple seconds before the timestamp. He asked who decided to call it starboard. I was explaining the history and reason for the terms, as well as other relevant terms for directions on a ship.
Starboard wasn't named because of the astralobe location, starboard acrually comes from two olde english words, "stéor" meaning "to steer" and "bord" meaning "the side of a boat", it was called that because boats of the time were steered by a steering ore that was tucked under armpit to steady it, and a majority of sailors were right handed so held it on the right hand side.

This game is so good I'm not even mad at the few things that suck about it. Im actually starting a new character after 20 hours because I wanna do it differently lol
I know right? I heard a LOT of hate on this game, but if you install a couple mods to skip loading screens and fix the inventory, it's fantastic! Probably the most fun I've had in a game ever.

Oof, glad you are liking it but the game could've been so much better, personally having a hard time playing it due to the amount of bugs there are and/or lack of thought that went into certain things like the ship and outpost building. Bethesda just has to look around and take inspiration from other games that do it better. And I see more loading screens than the amount of steps I can take without being low on oxygen when I'm not overburdened.
@@json17 Don't forget the mods that improve performance, I've got an RTX 40 series card and didn't think I would need them. Bethesda is once again leaning on the community to make the game better, it's cheaper for them right?
@@michaeldejode473 Yeah, that's pretty annoying. My experience is going to rest heavily on mods unfortunately.
Most of the "Performance" mods I've seen appear to just be changing the settings. Since I've "only" got a 3060 so I followed a performance and visual optimization post on Reddit and installed a DLSS mod. Now it looks great and runs at 50-60fps.
Honestly I don't think bugs bother me as much as most people. I mostly just laugh at them. I haven't seen anything gamebreaking, mostly little visual/pathfinding things. Nothing more than in every other game I've played.
The term starboard derives from the Old English steorbord, meaning the side on which the ship is steered. Before ships had rudders on their centrelines, they were steered with a steering oar at the stern of the ship on the right hand side of the ship, because more people are right-handed.
I must say I found your other fast start was better, this version, the commentary was in my opinion less professional and hard to listen too.

I’m glad you gave a better clarification of how to save scum. I’ve been following your previous walkthrough but evidently I’ve been doing the difficulty change wrong 😮. Another strategy I’m working on is fast tracking the Ryujin quest for the mind control. Works good in stores
Plus the Fine Suit you get with 10% boost to persuasion is good.
15:17 my man threw that explosive container back into FO4.
The left is called port because when they dock in a port that is the side that faces the port, the other side is starboard because most sailors in days gone by were right handed so the steering ore was placed on the right hand side, steering board became starboard.
The magazines gives the bonus when you pick it up, but doesn't consume. You see the bonus message when you pick it up if I remember correctly.
You can sell it without any issue once picked up

You can get discovered by the camera in the security room with the "assassins" Grendel so wait till it rotates away.

One tip for any of you Space pirates out there, I find it much more enjoyable to collect a bunch of random junk to sell to level commerce by stealing a ship and modifying it so that all of the random junk that is lying around goes in the cargo hold. Not saying its a faster method than this method of stealing everything that isn't bolted down, but its much less tedious. :)
Has it ever been mentioned that there is very few points in any given video of swolebenji that he is actually quite. I feel like he makes a point to fill in every quiet second

noted ( for me ) as of 9/13/23 reloading at the area where you go to the roof @28:35 of the video, I reloaded half a dozen times and the loot was identical in all loads... any chance this was patched out/updated?
FYI you weren't wrong to call it Sol System. Solar System is the description of a group of astral bodies orbitting a gas giant, Sol System is the name of our solar system.
I got to say your guides are straight to the point, thorough and concise.
Would be awesome if you did a break down of the outpost building.
Is there any chance you would be able to make a guide on how to make the best ship once you have unlocked all weapons and parts? i saw your best ship guide for begginers but it used very early parts so i was wondering if it could get even better than that, because i loved that ship.
At level 60 you basically just buy the best disruptor, reactor, grav drive, shield, and fuel tank with the lowest power cell'd engine you can tack on while keeping mass low for max mobility and top speed. By doing it to the Mantis you get passive anti-pirate buffs.
Can you drop a weapon from your inventory, grab it, and push things around? If so, it could be helpful in shops where you can't grab the trashcan.
Interesting thing with the magshear. When i went to do it, they both just said regular magshear, but after i looted them they showed up in my inventory as advanced magshear.
Thanks for this playthrough this is just the kind of the game I will play multiple playthroughs with and regret it because there's a million things to do. Atleast until mods come out .... than I'll just do it all over again lol😂

You don't have to wait for the questmarker as soon as you travel to Kreet he stops talking and the quest marker shows up on the science outpost.^^ Store all is only on the resource category.
Didn’t take me too long. Got all the ATMs in one shot each. Never got caught. 💪🏽
don't kill Brogan for a weapon if you just sell it. His Spacesuit is worth nearly 8k, his helmet round about 3k, backpack kinda similar. you can easily cheese kinda like 20k out of him instead of only 4k.
kind of funny but reloaded like 12 times, no advanced magshear until i grabbed it the second before i reloaded like you did and it came up. prob a coincidence but worth a shot

Benji, the starboard comes from the Vikings who used a rudder on the right side of the boat called a “star borg” I’m sure it’s not spelled correct but yea that’s the gist

Great guide, lots of little tips I can make use of. I really don't like the Mantis armor. It's ugly, it's too strong so you never use anything else, and literally everyone uses it. Watching videos and they zoom out and they've all got that goofy ass rubber scientist outfit on. I got bad rolls on my main game not even thinking you could reroll it so not using it there. The ship is great though, early game ships are so restricting it's just not really very interesting. have to invest in hours of gameplay before you can make something good and by then you don't even really need it anymore. Those engines really make up for it all and you can have a lot more fun with the builder early. At first I didn't like the idea of enemies running from me because then I don't get to fight them but so far I've only seen it a few times and it seems more like an event that can trigger when you jump in as opposed to just enemies fleeing, possibly wrong though.
Loving your videos. I was going to wait a few months to buy starfield so that the bugs were worked out a bit. It seems fairly stable. So hiccups but not game breaking that i saw. I'm curious as to how you were able to jump into a new system with those 2 stolen guns. Do they only scan the ship inventory and not what you're actually carrying on your person? That's the only thing that seems to make sense. Thanks for your time.
They only scan for contraband, not stolen goods.
Ah. Thanks for the clarification. Also, I couldn't get the advanced magshear to spawn in best defense. However, I watched another video where you stole it and reloaded. That worked. Again, thanks for your videos. I'm definitely following you videos now.

My vendor where you steal the mini guns doesn't stock rare or legendary items like yours. A good example being that rare chameleon helmet, it's all white rarity for me and I'm on very hard. Also couldnt get the manipulate difficulty loot to reroll at the end of the first dungeon, is my game bugged or is this a known issue?
I tried that pillow trick in Madame Savages and I kept getting "caught" as stealing while using pillow and had the back room stuff I stole taken away. I don't understand why Bethesda went several steps back with grabbing and holding stuff. Like the stuff we want to steal we can't hold it to move to a "safe" location where we are hidden to steal it like we could in Skyrim and FO4. I hope somone fixes this issue.

So how impactful is alien DNA anyway? Seems like you gain a bunch of health so unless it's massive or scales to endgame it might become irrelevant

hey i found this detail while playing and wanted to ask you about it, it's about vasco the robot companion, when you ask him personal questions and you ask him how he join constellation, he will tell you that constellation recovered him from an abandoned lunar robotics factory on earth's moon, where he was manufactured.
but in the journal of Sir malcom livingstone that you can find in the Lodge, on the bar, he said he found and bought an original model A robot from lunar robotics, that he found him rusting in some junk heap in akila city, had him refurbished and that he named him Vasco.
so what is the truth?
did bethesda make a mistake here? or is malcom livingstone lying? or is vasco lying?

i have lots of bugs , at one point game completely took my pc down , had to turn it off to get it back , starting to think of FALLOUT76 if you had to experience that bugthesda game.

watched many of your starfield vids, must say if you want a mod that DRASTICLY improves the UI for items and things I would suggest starUI mod, its damn amazing, I love it (not associated in any way, just love the mod lol)

is there a special condition that must be met in order to get Va'Ruun enemies to spawn? Haven't found a single inflictor and can't find any Va'ruun dudes
Certain structures. Cryo-labs spawn 'em.
I don't know if I am pronouncing it right but the on looks like chlathyou, the same name that is in blade runner 2 when he talks to the first nexus were he was stationed, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Wondering exactly why you feel the Razorleaf is better than the Star Eagle, I mean 'better' can be objective but usually it's subjective. I played the first 60 hours with the Razorleaf & have like 10 in with the S.E. and I feel the star eagle is waaay better, but I feel this way bc 1. I enjoy spaceship combat, in the Razor over 50% of encounters I try to chase them down and they jump out b4 I can kill any of them, if you're looking for ship battles the razor sucks LOL. also the SE has a reactor that has like 8 more power than the RL. I suppose considering the ease of acquirement the RL wins there yes, but I prefer having more power, shields, cargo...almost everything. I watched your 'perfect ship build' guide & enjoyed using the modified Razorleaf but having used both I personally prefer the StarEagle

I can explain. T3 engines on the Razorleaf + the anti-pirate passive allows you to mod it down to less power cells to reach max speed. This lets you go full power to weapons, shields, and engines without any kinda reactor management. Also to get Star Eagle you're forced to be a goody-two shoes cop and everyone for the rest of the first universe will treat you as a cop instead of Space Batman. You don't need cargo when you can just have a cargo mule ship to swap to to store anything infinitely.
