I must commend this crowd. This is the LEAST bias crowds I’ve ever seen. The fans are good tennis fans, and not about bias superficial things. Just as many fans were rooting for Stephens as they were for Halep. We need more of this, especially now in 2022! Congrats to Halep!!

Don't listen to him, what he means by "tAcTICs" is "HIT BALL HARDER, NOT WORK? HIT EVEN HARDER!!"
Halep has one of the more varied shot selections on tour, not up to Barty or Radwanska lvls but more than 98% of the tour.
She can hit flat, looping topspin, fast dropping topspin, chip slice, low slice either short angled or deep at the baseline.
Her backhand is deceptively powerful, matched Nadals bh average mph this tournament and was a only 600rpm less in topspin.
Her game might be body taxing and injury prone but it's how she plays her best, utilizing her athleticism and unmatched running speed to get to shots that nobody else on tour reach.
This is why she is responsible for 2 of SWs worst defeats scorewise including her worse in a major final which would be a year later on SWs best surface.
This is why she has the best winner to unforced error differential of the WTA, top 10 in average winners and top 5 in fewest average errors, nobody else can say that.
She plays against the status quo, she is showing that the popular "big babe tennis" style is inferior, she has caused lots of young players to stop pursuing a tennis career cause they trained their wholes lives to play big babe tennis told that's the only way to win majors, only to realize that they can't win against a smart player.

This has to be one of those most satisfying wins ever. All three previous finals losses--to Sharapova, Ostapenko, and Wozniacki (not five months before this)--were utterly heart-breaking three-setters, two of them lost on her serve. A bit funny then that her celebration is so understated. Aw Sloane, nice smile at the end of the handshake/hug, very sweet.

Atunci a aparut inca o legenda in panteonul tenisului mondial. Daca AR mai putea sa mai umble din nou la capitolul daruire - antrenamente AR fi din nou 1 mondial inca vreo 15 ani. Daca! Sloane also doesn't have the dedication and work ethic that Simona has. And prime example would be how they both resumed after the hiatus last week. Sloane showed no intensity and no desire, which was the case before the break, and was routined by a 17-year-old. Simona, on the other hand, doesn't play her best tennis in her opening matches but fights and gets the wins and winds up going all the way to the title.

Among the ten or so past Grand Slam tournament younger champions, three newer women stand out and appear to be near unstoppable: Iga Swiatek,Sofia Kenin and Naomi Osaka. Simone Halep may have won Grand Slams before, but with her irritably gentle style of play, these three powerful and accurate players will likely stop Simone in her tracks in an earlier round of Grand Slams... ** So ,in my opinion, the Big Three of tennis have burst into the limelight of Grand Slams. Within months and years of having a new boyfriend,a few women like Simone (or Naomi) end up having enlarged and heavy chests. This impedes her tennis playing abilities. Simone's 40 year old boyfriend should pay for her recent breast reduction surgery. Despite Simone's wins, her style of play is too gentle and too boring. She could be part of the BIG FOUR of Women's tennis, along with the three other women mentioned above.. Muguruza and Caroline Wozniaski and Victoria Azarenka or someone else could be part of the Fig Four , depending on which four women win more Grand Slams more often, and stand out as being near unstoppable in womens tennis tournaments.

Kenin unstoppable? LOL!!! She has done nothing since fluking the AO. She's now ranked #147 in the world. Naomi Osaka is the definition of inconsistency. We don't know which tournaments she'll play, and it's not even a guarantee if she'll finish a tournament she enters.
Iga Swiatek is the only one showing she might be unstoppable based on her form this year and her winning streak.

    Stephens should’ve won this.

Should've, could've, but didn't. Lack of fitness hurt when Simona raised her game.

Simo did win this match. She took it from Sloane. There's a reason the H2H is 7-2 in favor of Simona, with her winning the last 6 meetings.
