I took my first one last night and within a few hours I woke up experiencing the side effects. Felt like I had a fever, was restless, dizzy and a huge headache - It almost felt like I had a hangover. I do feel a little bit depressed today. I cant believe this happen from just one tablet. I hope I feel better soon.
Having been on this medication a long time ago before there was a generic and again now, give it a week. The first week is a little rough, but it's worth it in the end. It's not a magic pill, but it it does change your life it's the right match for you.
Hi there, thank you so much for watching and for your comment. Thankfully effexor seems to be a good fit for me. Been on it now since the fall and besides needing an adjustment soon in dose, it has been a game changer for sure! how are you?

My doctor just wrote me an Rx for this today - I have crippling anxiety, panic attacks, and mild depression. Can someone be so kind as to tell me your experiences? I will also be more than happy to give you guys updates on a regular basis on the thread:)
Hey Carl, I’m so sorry to hear that you’re struggling with everything I have been there and I know how debilitating and upsetting it can be. I can tell you from my personal experience that I am still on Effexor for me. It has truly been life-changing in a positive way. But I know others have shared that this wasn’t a good medication for them. I think the most important thing to do is to go in it with an open mind and give your body a chance to acclimate to it. Definitely be sure to write down any side effects. You may experience and keep in touch with your doctor. I hope you find relief with this medication. Feel free to be in touch.

@@JustBreizy Venlafaxine is the antidepressant that gives me the most side effects, I've used several. I've been dealing with Panic Disorder for about 2 years now. I would experience fast heart rate in public places. I got worse and worse at the start of this pandemic, seemed hopeless. I just started this medication today, hoping to get my life back....
Hi there..thank you so much for watching and for sharing your experience. I talk about this in some of my other videos..something to keep in mind is that medication can truly be a journey of trial and error ..so if the first one isn't the right fit, don't give up! I know it's a big step to decide to start medication but I can honestly say it's changed my life . I hope you find the relief you are looking for. Keep in touch!
Hi Brie, I just started on day one of Effexor and my concern is about Insomnia. You haven’t mentioned anything about insomnia. Recently prescribed 37.5mg for GAD/PTSD/Phobias. Read about the possible severe side effects and withdrawal symptoms and now have anxiety about taking this for my anxiety! What a predicament right?! Haven’t ever had depression and haven’t ever taken meds for anxiety before (besides occasional propranolol). Tips? Words of advice?
I feel this. Also I'm on propranolol as well ironically. But I've had these bottles of effexor sitting here for months and haven't taken them because of my anxiety and panic attacks make me scared to take it... Definitely a conundrum
I went from 7 years on Clonazepam 2mg daily for my crippling anxiety - today my doctor discontinued my Clonazepam and gave me this medicine 37.5mg + a low dose of propanalol, I haven’t taken it yet - But I will keep people updated if it help. We all know how much this affects our life so I want to do what I can to help others
I’m so glad I found your channel. I’m a mess and have been feeling all the things you are describing. My doctor prescribed 37.5 mg of venlafaxine and I’m scared to death to start taking it but on the other hand I’m about to lose my mind. What dose are you taking?
Hi Karen, so happy you found my video too..I know how overwhelming it can be. I'm on 37.5 currently. For me it has truly been a life changer. I had so many fears prior to starting medication as well. But once I had a convo with my doc and felt like my questions were answered, I realized that my mental health was too important to allow my fear to get in the way. As I always suggest to people, keep a pad of paper out and jot down any side effects you might experience. This way when you update your doc, you have any side effects or questions it's all written down for you. Good luck to you! I hope you start feeling better and find some peace

Doctor prescribed me one 37.5 mg tablet a day for a week. Then after a week,I take two tablets a day at once. These two tablets I just started taking now. Besides a bit of tummy upset,a bit of tiredness ( which also be because I work nights shifts ) , I really have no side effects. But I also haven't noticed any difference in my mood yet either! Hopefully they work soon. It's only been a week. But I understand the weight you're talking about. It feels likes heavy, wet blanket wrapped tightly around.
HI there, how are you doing now? It could take a couple weeks to notice a difference ..at least that's what my doctor had told me when I started. Are you feeling some improvements now?
@@JustBreizy Well, it's been over two weeks since I was prescribed it. And a week since I started taking 75 mg ,up from 37.5 mg. My lows aren't as low as they were before. I still have little bouts of tiredness. But I was hoping for some nice peaks in my mood.
something that I find works for me is when my lows are too low and I can muster up some motivation, I try to run with that! I'll throw on some work out clothes, put on a fun podcast or some great music and just get out of the house and walk. Sometimes I find that I need to create the mood and then I start to feel it rather than waiting to feel it first..if that makes sense. I get what you are saying though about hoping for some nice peaks...hang in there and be sure to check in with your doc if needed to update and discuss any changes you made need.
@@JustBreizy And that's what I'm doing. Right after work I hopped on my bike and cycled for over an hour, taking pics and just getting out. It helps so much.

i thought i'd watch this because i'm taking my first one tomorrow . and i'm soo scared i don't know how it's gonna make me feel or how i would react to it.
Hi Bella..thank you for watching and for sharing your experience. I know that feeling of being so scared to take something like medication. The best advice I can give is to make sure all your questions were answered by your doctor. I found that my fear came from the unknown and once I had information, I felt more in control. Second thing I suggest is to keep a log of some sort and just jot down any thing you feel positive or negative so this way you can really see what is going on and have something to share with your doctor when you communicate how you are doing. The thing to keep in mind is they start you on a low dose so your body can adjust to it in a safe way. Sometimes the first medication is a great fit, other times not so much and changes need to be made. You are one step closer to finding the balance you need and it's something you should give yourself credit for...I know it's not easy but it does get easier once you are on the right meds and dosage. Keep in touch let me know how it goes. Good luck!!!
My new Doctor just took me off 32 milligrams of wellbutrin, which was helping me and put my on 75 m of this drug. He told me any lower dose is useless, that's why my wellbutrin was useless. He thinks wellbutrin wasn't actually helping, It was just a placebo effect. But I wanted to stay on it and maybe get something else too. I'm really scared to take this new medication and I feel like I wasn't listened to by my Dr. 😕
Hi there, I'm so sorry for delay. First thing I want to say is that if your doc isn't listening to you, you need to either make another appointment or find a new doctor. This is YOUR mental health and if you have feelings one way or another about a medication you need someone to listen to those feelings. How are you doing now?
That's good that you're feeling better. It's always a great step when you do something about your depression and anxiety---seek help, exercise, medicine etc. My doctor just prescribed me Effexor and it's my first time taking it and I'm just researching more about it for knowledge. Thank you for this video so far on your progress. It helps to know about others taking the same medication.

I just started this at 37.5 mg for a week. I still have to take a Benzo Ativan twice per day for the anxiety. Lexapro did nothing or other SSRI meds. I Hoping Effexor works so I can rely less on a. Benzodiazepine
Hey Nat I'm so sorry for the delay I'm just catching up on comments. Thank you for your question. How have you been feeling now? I hope things have subsided , if not please reach out to you doc and let them know how you are feeling
Thank for doing this video and being so open. You are helping a lot of people who are struggling. I was prescribed Lexapro 5mg for anxiety months ago and still haven't taken it. I've been so scared about side effects. I get a lot of physical symptoms...mainly dizziness and heart palpitations lately. I also have low blood pressure and get dizzy if I get up to quickly. But the dizziness gives me even more anxiety as well. I've been checked out by several doctors and everything is good. I feel that I am to the point where I need the medication. I've tried everything else and nothing seems to be taking it away. I'm sick of feeling scared, worried and panicked all day, everyday. My doctor suggested cutting it in half the first week and then going up to the 5mg. Any advice for me? Are you still taking Lexapro along with the new medication thats hard to pronounce? Lol Glad you are doing well and it helped you.
Hey there thank you so much for watching and commenting on your own experience. The new med that I'm on is for both anxiety and my seasonal depression so for now, I'm able to stop lexapro. The plan will be that once my usual cycle of depression runs its course, usually until March, I can start taking just Lexapro again for my anxiety and basically do that type of regiment as long as it works for me. I hear what you are saying about being nervous about side effects. My advice would be to do what the doc suggested. Start off by doing half..and introducing the 5mg after the first week as your doc suggested. The biggest motivator for me was that my fear of living the way I had been went well above my fear of the actual med. I was done with feeling out of control and anxious all the time. I knew that it was a big step for me but also knew I needed help. Be sure to write things down so you can communicate with your doc how the medicine makes you feel , if you decided to take it. For me, Lexapro made me slightly tired the first few days (nothing that interfered with driving or functioning) You have to do what works for you. If you feel you are at the point of needing medical assistance, you probably are. Your doc is suggesting to start off on such a low dose to test the waters AND it will help you to feel more in control if you start low and can increase. I started at 5 and after a week of introducing that, moved to 10 and that is where I have been before switching medication. Again, do what is best for you...try to put your fears in their place, address those and move forward so that you don't stay stuck! You got this!!!
@@JustBreizy Thanks so much. That truly helps!! This is no way to live everyday. I'm glad you had the courage to make the change for yourself. I will do the same!! If i start to get scared, I will read your message again (and as many times as I need to in order to take it). Time to start living again. ❤🙏🏽
Because I am not your doctor, I hesitate to give advice here but if you are feeling that way and your dr prescribed you lexapro, you might want to try taking it. I totally understand your anxiety around taking it-I was scared to take mine at first, too, for sure! However, I’ve been taking lexapro for a couple of months now and it has been a complete game changer for me. I’m going through a crazy time right now (aren’t we all though) and lexapro has helped me SO much with my anxiety and depression that I’ve been better able to navigate things. Of course this is just my experience but I hope maybe you can have that positive kind of experience, too. Best wishes whatever you decide to do.
@@persephone213 Thank you SO much for sharing your experience. Can I ask how many mg you are taking? Did you experience any side effects? I feel like its come to a point where this is my last option. It is great to hear from other people about their experiences. I hate that anyone has to feel the effects of anxiety and depression but I glad to know I am not alone. ❤
@@jbell6404 I totally understand. I felt like meds were my last option, too. To be honest, I don’t think I would have as many benefits with meds alone, though. As I know Brie talks about sometimes, too, having daily self-care rituals is so important. I’ve also been seeing an online therapist along with taking lexapro. I currently take 10 mg lexapro once a day for anxiety and depression plus buspirone (I think 10 mg) twice a day for anxiety plus daily self-care practices (mine personally are meditation, yoga and/or a walk, and skincare) and weekly therapy. I also was doing my self-care practices before I tried adding meds and it was not enough alone for me. I was taking buspirone for awhile before adding on the lexapro and the buspirone helped some but I was still struggling. Adding the lexapro has been making a big difference for me so far. My dr wanted me to try both together and it seems to be helping. For me, the lexapro did make me super tired in the beginning. I’d definitely start it on the weekend or a time you’re off work if possible because of this. Now I still notice I tend to need more sleep than usual but my energy seems to be improving, provided I get a enough sleep at night. I also sometimes get headaches (not sure if that’s related or not). Of course, your experience may be different than mine but I found it helpful to hear others experiences when I started my journey with all this again, made me feel a little less scared to take it, so I hope that helps. Take care 💗
Hi will this be effective for anxiety? That's my main issue. What are the most common side effects you'd experienced when starting the medication? Do you still have any side effects presently?
Hey Joshua thanks for watching. Venlafaxine has been great for my anxiety and depression as well. I had just a little bit of fatigue but nothing crazy. I don't have any side effects except for when I forget to take a dose from time to time I will get body zaps...feels like little painless zaps in my nerves...sounds great I know :) but all in all it's been a life save for me. Good luck to you!
The fact that you're able to do a stream / video must mean it works because with my social anxiety there's no way🤣. I'm just starting it today, but the side effects online are concerning to read.

Hay chick, was researching and stumbled across your vid... u seem lovley,, if been on this Venlafaxine 37.5... it says I need to take 2 tabs (75) but just 1 37.5 makes me feel like I'm on a drug rush ( comes in stages) how come no 1 talks about the effects of the 1st few days.. honestly I'm off my nut... Love from Englad X
Hey Danny, how are you feeling now? I'm so sorry you were having those types of side effects. have you made any changes or spoken to your doc about it?
I agree. I started to take this and it made feel like I was on Ritalin, a bit jumpy or nervous, sleepy tired, queasy. One week in an that feeling is subsiding. I sometimes get a little nauseous, not much, as long as I eat when I take the pill. I find that I don’t get very hungry on this medication. I noticed a difference from the day I took my first pill 37.5 mg. I took a little nap after my side effects calmed down and I cleaned my closet and organized my bedroom. It does make me thirsty so I drink a lot of water a day pretty close to a gallon. I’m getting back to whom I used to be. I feel like myself again. My doctor says give it about two weeks for it to fully kick in and the side effects will lessen as time goes by. I hope this helps.
I take 75mg for 2 months and it's a life saver. But for first 7 days i had horrible side effects i just lay all day in bed feeling Nauseous headache apathy but after 2weeks feeling better and better now i can say it helps a lot :)
Do you ever plan on getting off of it? My doctor prescribed it months ago and I freak out just reading about the withdrawal and haven’t started taking it yet, but I know I need it... 😢😢
I feel you on all of that..I had so many fears of starting it for sure! But I decided to write my specific fears down, talk to my doc about it all do I knew what to expect. I don't know if I can battle my anxiety and depression without medical intervention truthfully. I have a chemical imbalance for sure that I felt before starting. I'm sure as times goes on I'll need to increase or perhaps change all together depending on how my body continues to respond to it. Keep in touch!
Your doctor will be able to help safely ween you off of it if you don’t want to take it anymore. Its dangerous to just stop taking these kinds of meds cold turkey.

Hi there..I'm so sorry for the delay in response. What has you scared the most if you don't mind me asking? The best advice I can offer is where you are now isn't what you deserve or want in life..getting to where you want to be in difficult but you are worth the work it takes. Medication fear is a real thing for sure..I experienced it for many years! But I got to a point where what I was doing just wasnt working for me or my family. Take it slow, keep track of how you feel when you start it and communicate with your doctor. The first medication may not be the right fit for you OR it could just be the answer to getting you out of the depression swamp. Keep in touch

I have arthritis, which I have been taking Tramadol for. My doctor gave me this to help get me off the Tramadol and help me focus. She also said it would help my mood, which seems to be ok actually. Apprehensive about taking this.
@@kunalsoni1315 Amazingly well! This has helped more than the Tramadol. I did experience some of the side effects at first. I have gained about 10 pounds. My wife says I am happier. I'm not sure about the mood enhancement, but I am 100% sure that it has decreased my back pain by about 75%. I had my tailbone removed so it's pretty painful :P Overall, I would say I am surprised and happy. I would suggest people not listen to so many bad reviews and try to stick it out for about two weeks so you get through the side effects.
@@kunalsoni1315 You know, I could see what you are saying now that I think about it. Tramadol, not only helped with my pain, but it did elevate my mood to the point where nothing bothered me. Which was great because I didn't have to worry about the pain and could go about my day. It did mess up my thinking and I was on the smallest of dozes. So, I am glad that we made the switch. Doc told me Tramadol and this were on the same level as far as the euphoric feelings, and energy, that Tramadol gives. She said both meds had the same metabolic structure only tram had the narcotics added. So, after a year or so of being on Morphine, then Percs, then Vikes, and finally Tramadol, I quit it cold turkey (yes..that was tough) and went right into this and it has really been helpful.

Hi Micheline, no not being paid at all just sharing my experiences to hopefully help others. Not trying to push this med or any other but rather to let people know they aren't alone in their own mental health journey

Hi there ..sorry for delay. Great question. I agree with you actually. I know what I need to help feel stable so I don't see myself coming off of meds entirely. Hey Carl, I’m so sorry to hear that you’re struggling with everything I have been there and I know how debilitating and upsetting it can be. I can tell you from my personal experience that I am still on Effexor for me. It has truly been life-changing in a positive way.
I get what you are saying though about hoping for some nice peaks...hang in there and be sure to check in with your doc if needed to update and discuss any changes you made need.

i thought i'd watch this because i'm taking my first one tomorrow . and i'm soo scared i don't know how it's gonna make me feel or how i would react to it.

Hi there, I'm so sorry for delay. First thing I want to say is that if your doc isn't listening to you, you need to either make another appointment or find a new doctor.
Lol
Glad you are doing well and it helped you.
Take care 💗

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm on the same dosage as you and it's really helped my depression and anxiety as well. If you don't mind me asking, is the fear of places since covid or have you always had this fear?
@Matti HI there..I'm so sorry to hear it's effected you this way:( Have you contacted your doctor? What dosage are you on if you don't mind me asking?
@That_Pesky_Pescatarian how are u doing
Does anyone know if the larger pupils go away? On only on day 4 but its making me sketch a little lol.
Yeah it makes the pupils larger... That does go away!!!
Your channel is awesome and your energy is amazing 👍🏾 new sub
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing!! I greatly appreciate the feedback
I'm taking 37.5 the 1 st week q pill
then one week, after 2 week 2 pills super scare too
Hi Carmen so sorry for delay...How are you doing with the increase?
Starting mine tomorrow a bit scare i have never taken anything like that never been depressed 😔
I know the fear very well. I'm hoping you are finding relief taking it
Did you experience any weight gain/loss or water retention on this?
Hey there so sorry for the delay. Honestly I did gain some weight but I think it was more due to the foods I was carelessly eating
I have arthritis, which I have been taking Tramadol for. My doctor gave me this to help get me off the Tramadol and help me focus. She also said it would help my mood, which seems to be ok actually. Apprehensive about taking this.
How did it go?
@@kunalsoni1315 Amazingly well! This has helped more than the Tramadol. I did experience some of the side effects at first. I have gained about 10 pounds. My wife says I am happier. I'm not sure about the mood enhancement, but I am 100% sure that it has decreased my back pain by about 75%. I had my tailbone removed so it's pretty painful :P Overall, I would say I am surprised and happy. I would suggest people not listen to so many bad reviews and try to stick it out for about two weeks so you get through the side effects.
@@dannyd1572 Tramadol works amazing for my depression and anxiety so I may switch to effexor after your review
@@dannyd1572 Thank you for sharing your views , really appreciate it
I’m getting off lexapro because I’ve gained so much weight on it and I always feel so tired with it my doctor prescribed this and I hope it works for me I’m kinda nervous about the side effects
Hey there! How are you doing now? Did you start effexor yet?
Une semaine de effexor et je ne suis pas capable d'avoir un orgasme, sa va s'améliorer avec le temp ou non?
Has it gotten better?
What dosage did you start with
I just started Effexor 37.5 2 days ago and was just wondering does this dosage help with anxiety at all?
Are you being paid to promote this medication?
Hi Micheline, no not being paid at all just sharing my experiences to hopefully help others. Not trying to push this med or any other but rather to let people know they aren't alone in their own mental health journey
Thank you so much this helps me so much you are amazing 💜 would love to see more stuff like this!
Hi there, thank you so much for watching and commenting
Has it worked for you? Please update
Hi what dose are you taking how much
I'm taking 75 mg
@@JustBreizy me too 75 and I'm doing really well I have not had any panic attacks 🙏
Did no one on here warn this young lady of the perils with stopping this medicine?
was this a review or a debate
just my experience :)
Are you still taking Effexor?
Hi there, yes still taking it seems to be a great fit for me!
If it works why would you talk about stopping it, that's the reason u take it, not to go back to the person who u was. That's why some people don't need to take advantage of it and just stay the u are for the rest of ur life
Hi there ..sorry for delay. Great question. I agree with you actually. I know what I need to help feel stable so I don't see myself coming off of meds entirely. I know some use them to get through a specific period of life that could be causing great anxiety but I think when it's part of you it's different. How are you doing?
Though the information was helpful all the interruptions gave me anxiety.
Hi there thank you for watching . I’m so sorry to hear... down falls of live streaming for sure :) I’m happy you found it helpful besides the craziness ❤️
Does anyone know about genesight
Is that the test they do to see what types of meds your body will do best with ?
@@JustBreizy yeah it’s a swabbing and it they kinda tell u which med will have the least side effects.
took my first one 5 hours ago :)
good morning..how are you doing with it?
How has it worked for you? Any bad side effects?
You are a beautiful lady and your videos are very informative
Hey Danny, thanks so much for watching and for the compliment! Hope all is well
Exffor is way fking better that Zoloft
Hi there thanks for watching...I haven't taken zoloft so I can't really say but effexor seems to be a good fit for me. How are you doing these days?
Good to hear, my doctor gave me the choice between the two and I went with this. But he did say it depends on the person. I have already tried the propranolol which you take before anxiety situation and it was kinda inconsistent with weird side effects.
@@A42yearoldARAB Good luck hope it works for you
Just took my first dose 😮😮
Are you into ⚫️ guys
Omg stay on track. Lol
You are beautiful thanks for sharing
Hi Alyssa, thank you for watching and for the compliment :) hope all is well
Omg this gets worse. She's doing a vid on Venlafaxine and at 2:08 she dosn't know how to say it. Cant watch anymore . Sorry.
so scared to take this
Hey Robin good morning. What are you most afraid of if you don't mind me asking
@@JustBreizy i m fearful of dr,`s masking the symptoms with drugs, the usual fear of withdrawl and all the scarey videos of tartive kinesis(sp) and saw a commercial for a drugs to stop those constant movements, oh gosh darlin, you heard our fears, im not stressing weight, your words in your 6mo on this med set me st8, quality of life over , possible side effects, im going to stick with what the dr gave me just the min dose, see ho it goes, but yah just fear that im poisoning my thyroid and cholesterol issues
VEN LA FAX INE.......
haha yup took me a few months but I finally got it :) Thanks for watching!
Maybe a nutritional deficiency , socialize ! Maybe join a church . Plenty of things to get you motivated . Your in your prime
Hi Al ,thanks so much for watching and for your feedback. Yes! I have found that when I focus on my nutrition, I tend to feel better from the inside out. For me, medication has been my saving grace. Not for everybody of course. But I realized my mental health struggles were too big to manage without the assistance of medication. Always continuing to find ways to keep on track! Thanks again
@@JustBreizy Having lost several loved ones over the last couple of years I can definitely identify with you . Just remember that lots of people care about you 😉.
When you said lets start over at 19:01 why did you make us listen to all that silly nonsense at the start. You could of just edited the vid and started at 19.01. WTF?
Horrible to listen to. Get to the point woman.
Medication review when you can't even say the name...
Hi there thanks for watching . Great thing is I can still have an opinion and share my experiences even if I screw up the pronunciation 😁 hope you are well
Looks like you vote for Biden
Hi Phil, thanks for watching ..I'm not sure if I discussed politics at all during this live stream as my focus is more on mental health. Hope you are well.
Phil, wtf are you talking about? No politics were discussed. You are politically obsessed and brainwashed
You could ditched the childish half singing in the intro. Was much better when you said high Im Bree.
Well we can see here it doesn’t really help with cognitive tasks…
