These are the most beautiful waves I have ever seen roll through SD, or most any place for that matter. And the driver of the jetski punching through the barrel at 5:36 deserves an award.
WOW some of the best 🌊🌊🌊 I've seen from videos of this swell...looks like south county was definitely the place to be. Absolutely bonkers rides that would make your entire year. Too bad we don't have these swells more consistently like Bali.
April 27 of this year got whiplash. Missed every swell so far. Life is like that sometimes. These wipeouts look whiplash worthy for sure. Be careful. Thanks for sharing. Best barrels in San Diego county I’ve seen in awhile. Looking to miss the next batch as well. Water 70 in Oceanside. Killing me slowly. Great job filming
I got hit in 2000 from behind and my neck has never fully recovered. If you got hit don't sign anything from the other guy's insurance for at least a year.
Nice video. I like the sound of the surf more than music, so thanks. I wouldn't say Maalaea is on the North Shore of Maui though. Looking at the map, it's more like west, which makes sense being it breaks with a south swell.
AH..MAZING footage......! check out the Tahiti towering waives from July 13 here on youtube...CODE RED 2....just incredible waves like 2 or 3 stories high!
LOL since when is a 4-6ft face swell CODE RED. What is this Code Red anyway??? Fun looking swell though and I wish I was in those Goofy barrels. Where was this Oceanside Jettys, Tamarack???
100% NOT Big Rock. But I’ll give you a hint…if the cameraman pointed his camera a little north versus a little south or straight out, then he’d be filming Big Rock.
There’s several clips of lots of surfers out there on a wave but they aren’t standing surfing…. The guy who actually is able to stand and surf, seems like it could be dangerous with other people out in the water with boards. Makes me wonder how common surfer accidents happen involving a surfer riding over someone accidentally. I also wonder how big of a pain in the butt it is to retrieve your board after a wave wiped you out. When I was a kid I had a boogie board but i had a cord that attached me to it.
When you ride a barrel w your back to the wave it’s pretty standard to squat very low w your back knee nearly on the board and grab the rail w your hand. And they do have leashes that tether them to the board.
@@lukedivinere5522 That narrows it down quite a bit. But La Jolla has a lotta coastline. What is Horseshoe near relative to Windansea, Bird Rock, La Jolla Shores, Scripps pier or Black's beach?
I was the first person to surf this in the 80’s besides a guy on a bodyboard with an actual bungle cord for a leash. Weird to see a Billion people and cameras. Bummer.
0:23 I don't think I've ever seen a clip like that with the board breaking immediately and so visibly. this edit is INSANE!!
Good spot

SD?
The talent pool was strong on this day! Boy's were all charging.
Insane! are some of these guys pros? they surf like it...
@@sdsurfs Mostly local guys on days like this. The only pro I recognized was Jacob Szekely, who also grew up surfing that spot.
@@pickleforknwiggles634 off the chain😂🤙
@@jerrysanders9101 hahaha....exactly.
Nice backhand surfing
I can’t imagine how incredibly fun it would be to actually be a great surfer and the feeling of riding those waves ❤️.

North of south county
Nothing better than a massive swell in SD
Great shots SoCal!!, it would be a plus to display the forecast conditions. Thank you guys, you are awesome!!
This year's surf is fantastic, thanks for the vid who needs Bali and Hawaii etcetera
Battleships outback preparing for war whilst these men chill on a wave.
What a contrast!
Barrels on outside sets at this spot wow!
Wipeouts were sublime 🍿🙌
Great local SD video. Some really good local talent as well.
This is the vid I’ve been waiting for
The frickin brake job this guy did at 6:50 to pull into that 2 second barrel was impressive
That death Wipeout at 1:10 into the video is brutal! If that guy paddle back out after that. He's f****** crazy. Or somehow didn't break his ribs LOL
Long fades r so sick Good job caveman
SD was on fire
god damn primo conditions here. has to be an all time swell for this spot. Never seen people chip into the barrel from the outside
you need the step up to do it. have that extra buoyancy to paddle in and then get enough initial speed to connect through
Nice. Freight Trains on Maui is south facing btw.
Man I miss SD. Boys are rippin into it
damn dohini is firing! everyone go there!!!
Good footage, waves were cranking
wow ! duck diving a jet ski (@ about 6:00 mins.) now that is impressive !
100% no lie @ 11:03 I thought to myself "ohhh that sux" right before the dude says it. Hahaha. I felt psychic hahaha

Very nice guys as when I lived out in SD 1987-'89 as I used to run along Coronado beach regularly I never noticed the surf like this- have fun!
I’m with you, I lived in PB at the same time. Hospital point was my favorite spot to surf. Just around the corner from wind and sea.
SITTING IN RAW SEWAGE FOAM SICK MAN SICK
Skip with the bomb out the back, so sick
3:20 set up for a nice barrel, I think he dropped a quarter and went looking for it lol
Nice mellow crowd, is usually like that when waves are bigger… nice product placement by the way.

YASSS YASSS ...less music....just give us the surf-sounds!
Such a sweet swell :)
*Goooood summer swell* 👏
Do the backsiders always grab a rail?
Wow bro stacking clips !! .. tell the story a little more I bet you guys could b in running for series of the year surfer polls. If you are already
Yep bolsa chica ! Everyone go there ! lol!!!!!!!!!😂
Best swell in a decade
is this in la jolla near the alien gulches?
Homie at 1:11 got sent to the shadow realm

L.P. Used to break like this often. The El’ Nino of 96-97 was all time.
14 minute video that took me 30 minutes to finish because I couldn't stop replaying some parts lol
Nice, looking a lot like the conditions in Oz lately

5:11 yep
Was an epic day until the tow in crew showed up.
They were at Ralphs also. Sad
Surprised Machado and Joel weren't out there.
They were at SeaSide reef.

Big Rock, La Jolla. Just south of Windansea!
Close but I think most of these shots are from Tourmaline

@@cooper7ryan LOL…maybe Doheny? That’s OC though.
Here are my guesses; Little Point, Horseshoes, Hospitals. No Big Rock or Windansea.

Pleased to see Southern California is benefiting from the shit winter weather in New Zealand.
2:30 - 3:07 lots of potential....
Did you Catch any of the OB jetty on 18-19
Looks like Hospitals. Medium tide. (the opening that is)
Hint: outside kelp beds :)
I don’t get the full suits in July in 70 degree water trunking it it the best
Where exactly on the San Diego coastline is this?
Casa by children's pool im guessing. Used to be a body board only till some friends started charging it in aye 90s
